The length of the blade is traced with finely etched runes of an unknown design. There is an ethereal quality to the sword that those looking at it cannot comprehend. Once gripped, the horn handle fits the wielder’s hand better than any weapon ever held, and the blade glows with a warm, low light in the presence of any priestess of Freya or in any area holy to Freya. The horn handle was crafted from a stag sacred to the goddess and sacrificed to her. This sword was, in fact, crafted on another plane and used at one time by one of Freya’s Valkyries. When fully reactivated, the sword is in fact +3 great sword with additional enchantments, but the means of reactivating it have been lost to time. Abilities discovered: spider bane 289 gp 9sp 7cp
Background:
For many years, Kevezyat, was to all appearances a normal Drow, joining in surface raids and subterranean raid upon the helpless and unfortunate. Deep down she found much of Drow society and these raid’s especially distasteful, but she did what she thought was her duty. One moonless night, she and a cohort ascended to the surface under the command of an ambitious priestess. Establishing a base in an abandoned keep deep in the mountains north east of Bard’s Gate, the Drow priestess began the vile practice of raising the dead in the hundreds from the old battle grounds that surrounded to keep ruins. The rituals turned Kevezyat’s stomach when she witnessed them, something about them railed against her nature. Ultimately, somehow, the surface dwellers learned of the Drow’s activities and an assault was launched. Fighting a pitched battle, and honest battle, always stirred Kevezyat’s blood. Laying about her against the attackers, Kevezyat and those near here were buffeted to the ground by a severe detonation.
She was startled when the man instead extended his hand in friendship. ”You have a new path before you, I think. Your past is forgotten, serve Freya and be glad. Serve Freya and live a life worth living! Serve Freya and slay those that would scourge this world for naught but their perverse hatred for happiness and life!”
Entering into the service of Freya was as hard a task as any Kevezyat had undertaken, but only 10 short years passed before she was inducted into the fraternity of Freya’s Paladins, her chosen task to rid the world of the abomination of life that was the undead. The last two years has been under the tutelage of the High Priestess of Freya in Bard's Gate. Learning much from the halfling's wisdom and kindness, it was Kevezyat's great pleasure to receive her acceptance into the Ranks of Freya's Paladins from the High Priestess herself. The respect was mutual, the High Priestess entrusting Kevezyat with important errands many times. After her investiture, Kevezyat continued to serve in Bard's Gate, until the High Priestess called upon Kevezyat to deliver an important package to the temple in Reme. She was told that after this task her period of attachment to the High Priestess was over, she was to follow her own path after the delivery. So, it was a week later, having delivered the small oilskin package to the Master of the Temple in Reme, Kevezyat was walking through the temple's common area, when she spied a familiar face. One Jerrid, a common sight in the infirmary in the Temple in Bard's Gate. He was in earnest conversation with another about assisting a young woman in a journey. Smiling at Freya's subtle ways, she approached the two "Greetings Jerrid, I am pleased to see you hale and well. I overheard your conversation and would accompany you and your friend...if you'l have me that is." Her humble request seemed to quell the alarm and almost panic that flew across Jerrid's face and the two readily accepted Kevezyat into their company. Appearance:
Kevezyat still possesses the fierce visage associated with her brethren, especially when in combat. That is tempered however, by the compassion and kindness that emanated from her dark eyes. She looks the Drow in all aspects, minus the cruel curl of the lip and the caustic vitriol that often goes as conversation with that race. Beautiful and terrible at once, she is striking to behold, stirring the hearts of those with righteous hearts and quavers of fear in those less wholesome. Personality:
