Lady Ladile here! After some thought, I've decided to try something different since I've played a Life Oracle before but never a Warpriest. Therefore, I would like to withdraw my character Marigold from the running and instead submit this character, Hazel Stokes, Warpriest of Desna, instead. Everything should be in her profile but let me know if there are any questions or anything that I might have missed!

I was a bit worried that my character would also be a life oracle, but now there is no conflict. My character will also worship Desna actually :).

Hmm. Let me see if I can squeak in something just under the wire. I am in a few games already but they are going very slowly and erratically so having something a bit more regular would be enjoyable.
Some interesting characters here. The skinwalker looks really neat and the healer-witch is very close to a concept I was considering!
Question for the DM: Does the moratorium on the gunslinger class extend to all guns and gun archetypes, e.g. picaroon, holy gun, etc.?
Maurice Artigan the Mindblade |
For your consideration, I'd like to put forward Maurice as a potential character! Maurice is a Mindblade, which is one of the new Magus archetypes from the Occult Adventures book. As it's fairly new material, I'd be glad to explain the ins and outs of the archetype, but it's fairly straightforward. The meat of it really seems to be that the mindblade can use their arcane pool (or "psychic pool" for the archetype) to manifest weapons of their choosing. The type of weapon changes how many pool points it costs, but they're always considered magical (obviously, since they can't be permanently masterworked or enchanted). As the mindblade gains levels, s/he gains the ability to apply different melee weapon special abilities by spending more pool points, just the same as a normal magus. In return, they lose out on things like medium/heavy armor, spell recall, ect. All in all, it seems very interesting to me!
With the crunch all in the alias, let's move onto the fluffy stuff. While most certainly possessing of a brilliant mind, Maurice was on the verge of dropping out of university when he first saw Professor Lorrimor. The difficulty with his studies was not an inability to learn. Quite the contrary, he took to the material like wildfire, but struggled to grasp the fundamentals. Rather than drawing magic from the world around him, much of Maurice's ability came from within his own mind. As a result, there were startlingly few professors learned in such ways that could mentor him on the best way to combat his difficulties.
The famous professor was giving a speech about magical theory and practical application; a topic that thoroughly enthralled Maurice. After the dissertation, he waited among many other individuals for a moment to speak with Lorrimor. Though their discussion was brief, the tiefling was inspired by his new mentor's words and thanked him profusely. It was because of the professor's kindness and assistance, he later wrote in a letter to the man himself, that he was able to find the drive to finish his schooling at all. Heartened by such sentiments, the pair exchanged letters periodically over the next few years to better keep in touch and reveal breakthroughs in their fields. News of the professor's death was far from gladly received, but Maurice felt he owed it to his mentor to pay his final respects.

Hey Jesse. I had considered making guns rare and going for a kind of Victorian-era noir feel and whilst I'm still shooting for that (no pun intended), there is no support in this AP for guns and gunslingers and purely to make my life easier I'm just going to do without them and the related archetypes.
Lluvia Shade |
I would like to put in that character for your consideration, even though it needs to be adapted to your campaign, which I am going to do tomorrow. I've been in another Carrion Crown campaign before, but the game died out really early, it went over merely tour forum pages. In-game we reached the first morning after our day of arrival in Ravengro. I will hold back on the only little bit of background we managed to understand. You may find it here: http://paizo.com/campaigns/DMAresWildChildCarrionCrown/gameplay&page=1
I was playing Narah.
I still have that character, but I think it might be best not to use it again...
Lluvia is a bit gothic on her own, even though more of a city character and rather film noir than victorian... but I can make it work. It won't be hard to figure out how she know Professor Lorrimor, and it WON'T be subject of study again.
CG female elf rogue 1, with the intention of going for shadow dancer
Has close ties to the clergy of Desna, even though her patron is, unknown to her, Black Butterfly
Note that the name is just "Lluvia". The "Shade" in the title was added because "Lluvia" was already taken.

I'm putting the finishing touches on Constantin Ionescu, a psychic who comes from a hardscrabble background and learned to appreciate academia from Professor Lorrimor.
In terms of story, the character owes his life to Professor Lorrimor's aid when he was younger, after he was badly injured and nursed back to health, and then discovered his strange abilities. He is easygoing and insightful, very analytical and given to examination of evidence and environment. He is a planner and also a good person to talk to when you feel like you're getting a little out of your own head -- level-headed and able to handle stress.
In terms of role, the character is a support/control caster using psychic powers and the Lore discipline (I liked the Tranquility discipline, but Lore fits the story with Professor Lorrimor better).
I'll be polishing up the sheet as I go here, but I wanted to get the background and story elements in place so that the character has some basis for comparison.
I've built this character as something of a Victorian psychic/Dickensian hard-knock-life fellow turned adventurer of the strange. I have a predilection for this kind of horror campaigning as I spent several years doing work for World of Darkness games.
Lluvia Shade |
I have adjusted the character to the campaign rules.
I don't have a connection to Professor Lorrimor written in detail, but I can outline the thoughts I have:
The story takes place in Absalom. A spherewalker has asked for the help of a discrete agent of Desna and Lluvia answers the calling.
However, when she reaches the meeting point she finds him beaten up.
The spherewalker has found an ancient Azlanti ruin in good condition and a brought a strange magical cube from it as evidence. When he tries to find out what it is he contacts a collecter, who does not help but wants to acquire the object instead. Lluvia is originally meant to break into the collector's office and search for clues to the origin of the cube and make copies of the most important things.
The cube is now gone. By some means (I haven't figured out which) she manages to follow the goons. Much to her surprise they don't go back to the mansion of the collector, but she overhears them talking that they need something more for the cube to make sense or be used. She decides not to engage, but follow them. They eventually take up a position near the entrance to the magical academy and observe it, while Lluvia observes them. Professor Lorrimor comes out of it and they engage, but before they can land the first blow Lluvia has already shot the first of them with her bow.
Professor Lorrimor and Lluvia win the fight. It turns out that he has some kind of magical crystal which he was researching in the library of the magical academy. The crystal belongs into the same line of magic as the cube and they might be meant to be used together. The two start working together and meet up with the spherewalker.

I thought that might be you. As a Cammy from the days of yore, the name was not unfamiliar to me. :D
Lluvia Shade |
I've finished writing the connection to Carrion Crown for Lluvia. Even though I don't go down to the level of literal speech it became a little longer, but I think it's pretty nice, if I do say so myself.
A shadow play in the streets of Absalom, where Lluvia chases a group of thugs which are in turn after Professor Lorrimor.
The character is ready. CG female elf rogue with lots of skills.

Ok I'm working my way through everything guys, there's a lot to consider and my job has been made really difficult by so many good submissions. Don't get me wrong, that's exactly what I was hoping for and I certainly haven't been let down.
Beohawk is right, I could fill this party three times over with those who have put in but alas I can't take everyone.
I am seriously considering running a second table for this though. But I should stress that if I did it, it wouldn't be for a good while until I was confident that I could handle them running concurrently and do justice to both.
I actually finished work early today to give myself some time and peace and quiet to read through everyone's backstory so thanks again for your patience, it shouldn't be too much longer :)

Ok, here we go.
First off I just want to say thank you to everyone who applied and showed an interest, there have been some amazing levels of creativity and quality writing on show so I have no doubt these characters will all find homes soon.
That being said, I can only take so many on this adventure.
Would the following players please report to discussion;
- Kazamir Rhuul
- Constantin Ionescu
- Valavastra Cross
- Hazel Stokes
- Zed Ulmin
- Galus Thero
- Rajuna Two-Fangs
Yes, there's seven. I couldn't narrow it down further and in truth it could have been ten or twelve. For those who didn't get through this time, I'm sure our paths will cross soon!
Should the second table materialise, I hope you don't mind if I refer back to this recruitment and drop you a PM to see if you are still interested.
Good luck in your adventures, folks!
