About Marcus Antonius Minimus

Background:

Marcus is a son of one of the few wealthy halfling merchant families in Varisia. In fact, they are suspiciously wealthy considering how hard times were for them just a few years ago. The family was lead through their misfortune by its patriarch Octavius Minimus, Marcus' grandfather. But it was not through any particular skill of cunning that they got by, rather the family's trade experienced a bout of unnaturally good luck at the same time as other traders had unnaturally bad luck. Octavius had made a pact with devils to save his fortune and Marcus' older sister Aelia was never seen again. His mother squirreled him away into the church as quickly as she could after what happened.
Grandfather always said everyone has to make sacrifices for the family.

Marcus didn't understand what happened to his sister or why he had to stay away from his family until several months later when he learned about devils and pacts. He spent his childhood learning in temples of Iomedae and moving farther away Varisia. Eventually he ended up in Lastwall where he joined the paladins. He is still afraid to return home and confront his grandfather.

Meeting Lorrimor
A team of paladins including accompanied Lorrimor into a tomb on one of his many expeditions to uncover artifacts. The team awakened a flesh golem and everything went badly. Their captain died holding off the golem. Marcus panicked and had to dragged out by the professor. Since that day Marcus has known that he owes his life to Lorrimor.

Appearance:

Marcus is a larger than average halfing with an errant mop of curly brown hair and green eyes. He wears a once white cloak over a set of scale mail. The sword of Iomedae is proudly stitched on his tabard. The hilt of a sword nearly as tall as him deforms the right shoulder of his cloak. A tiny silver sword of Iomedae hangs from the pommel of the larger sword.

Personality:

Marcus is determined to prove that he can be as good a paladin as any other despite his size. Where his strength and his courage fail him he turns to his faith in Iomedae.

He treats party members judgment or criticism of his code good naturedly and doesn't expect them to follow it, but does his best to never turn from his code.

Marcus believes that all citizens should assist him in rooting out evil because he is a paladin. Therefore he will always try the I Am The Law approach before diplomacy.
