Guys, it's with sadness I'm going to announce the departure of Kawrock from the game. Although his player has posted about ongoing difficulties in his life, I have a fairly hard rule about a month without posting. This isn't helped by the fact he's been posting at most twice a week for the better part of a year. After a lot of turnover when I first took this game we've kept with the same six people for a very long time and I hate dropping someone with this group particularly.
I'm not going to recruit to fill his spot and will instead leave it open in case his life allows for him to regularly contribute to PbP again.
Apologies for my tardiness, but the final week of uni and a bit of flu has taken its toll. Back on deck now.
My interest in multi-year long APs on this forum has waned, and I've decided to quit some games. This being one of them.
Eldon will go off on a journey of his own once you're done exploring the cave, feeling like you've learned all you need to stand on your own legs and make a name for yourselves.
Best of luck during the remainder of the game! I had a lot of fun with you, but I'd rather be spending my time on other hobbies.

I cannot say how saddened this makes me. Eldon was one of my favorite companions in all of my games. I even made a wanna-be-gnome dwarf cleric of Desna that jabbers incessantly based in part on Eldon.
I do understand the waning of game interest, though, and know that sometimes it happens. Best of luck to you, good sir, and I hope we meet again on the same side of the dice roller.
Thank you for your kind words, Whiskey and Spider!
I wish all of you lots of fun in what's still to come in this game, and maybe we'll see each other down the road! ;)
With Eldon leaving I'm not sure I want to stay. Arval is one of my first characters and I've learned a lot since I created him, Rping him is fun but gameplay wise he is quite dull. Combined with one of the core players leaving I'm having a hard time to decide if I want to keep playing. (A recent game just felt empty after almost all the core players left)
I'll let you know in a few days what my decision will be.
I'll also be stepping out.
I've had a fun time for the years I was in the game but I think the game's running too long in the end. It saddens me to leave but I'd rather play the characters I really like.
Thanks for the fun and helping me start with pathfinder (this was the first game I joined)! Hope we'll see each other in future games!
It's sad for your going, but thanks for your time. Good gaming.
So, we either fold or find new players. Thoughts?

Thanks so much for your time and commitment Arval. I totally get it and it's been a blast playing with you over the past couple years.
Alright guys, we still have three and if Wren and Lena are in that's good enough for me to keep this going!
I'm going to freeze the game until we have new players in. I have someone in mind I'd like to ask who is a great roleplayer and reliable daily poster. Painlord since I just assume you know more about the PbP scene than everyone else has collectively forgotten I'd be delighted if you could recruit another.
My preference is to go to five people but I'll hear arguments for six.
Sounds like it's a little late for my contribution, but I'll gladly keep playing the less-talkative-than-the-others drunken ex-merc with the mouth. I mean, if 4 years of typing in this accent hasn't proken my fingers yet, a few more won't hurt.
GM, could you swap me to inactive please?

I'll cast around for one good solid poster.

Here is my recruitment post and I hope it answers your question:
We've had a few drops in our long running PbP Carrion Crown game. We are in book 4, the game doesn't move too fast, but need a new yahoo or two.
We are level 10 and it truly doesn't matter what class/role you bring as it's way more important that you bring a yahoo that excites you and that you want to RP rather than fitting a notion of role or class.
I spoke a bit with Kahui (who is an RL friend) and I was kiiind of pushing his limit for simultaneous games with this invite.
I've received two PMs from some players with impressive resumes so I'm gonna say yes to both. I'll give them a sec to post their hellos in discussion and we can start working out character builds while I continue to calculate the average party wealth. I'll also look in the inventories of our departing heroes for anything I'd reasonably consider party property.
Hello everyone. I have a general character idea I began working on when Painlord shot out the message. I have played Books 1 and majority of 2 of this AP so it shouldn't affect where you are currently at.
The character is about 90% of the way there. Will adjust based on wealth and build points.
Hey Tyranius and the incoming Balodek.
I'm Dave, I've been running this AP for approximately four years after taking it over from the GM who started it all. We're currently on the last part of Chapter 4, Wake of the Watcher which is the Lovecraftian themed chapter of Carrion Crown. I live in northern Canada and have been playing RPGs for 25+ years now and have been doing PbP for almost five.
We've just had three players retire, one due to inactivity and two who came as a matched set reaching the end of their interest in full APs. We've had slow posting rates from a couple of characters and so I'm really hoping to kick things off again and see this AP through at a good clip.
Our party is Lena, a loudmouthed halfling sorcerer. Whiskeyjack, an incomprehensible dwarven warpriest. And Wren, an insane old bird lady with suspiciously wizard-ish arcane powers.
- 20 point buy
- Level 10 (I'd have your level 11 planned out though)
- 35,000 gold starting money (this AP is stingy on loot despite multiple artificial injections on my part)
- I run Pathfinder 'as is' and do not restrict any classes or archetypes. I like my core races but will listen to character ideas for more off-kilter races.
- I do not restrict alignment since you know your stuff, but your character must be motivated to do heroic acts.
You are in Ustalav. The Whispering Way are a widespread secret organization dedicated to esoteric necromantic goals. They have been wreaking havoc over Ustalav for the past few years in pursuit of some sort of nefarious goal, one which is difficult to ascertain as their secrets are never written down, but instead whispered.
Your character must be motivated to stop and/or destroy the Whispering Way. I'm totally happy if you two know each other already, and it wouldn't hurt if you had an existing relationship with any party members.
So far they have (and you can make up other things they have done to suit your backstory):
Your pursuit of the Whispering Way has lead you after a dark rider, who fled from Feldgrau to the strange northern shores of Lake Encarthan. There, the local villagers have just discovered they have been in a horrific pact with a local population of skum. They had been 'fostering' their daughters onto the creatures, who breed with them to propagate their own kind. The skum are apparently holed up in a huge tower or rock in the lake called the Tern Rocks, where you are now headed with some means to navigate underwater (this can be free of charge on your character).
Please bring the crazy :)
a front line thumper would be handy.
Given that our last melee thumper was an Intimidator, as am I, I think we worked pretty well together. We didn't run into all *that* many mobs that we were powerless against. I say if you want to play it, play it!
( I can't believe I had to tell a friend of Painlord that o_0 )
@GM Spiderbeard - Thbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbtt!

Ooh, haven't worked with a slayer beyond like, first level. Fun!
Lemme know how you want Adder linked into the story. I'm really not concerned with elaborate twelve-page backstory (unless that's your jam). Just who he is and why he wants the whispering way done in. Tyranius has been pming me over his character and should be good to go soon as well.

I'm ok with a quick and dirty backstory. With the Subject of Study trait I worked with Professor Lorrimor on becoming an undead hunter/slayer. I was traveling when I learned of the Whispering Way and what they did to the Professor and have finally arrived in Ustalav.
I had intended my retribution to be faster however the messenger tasked with calling me home was a somewhat addled bird and it refused to give me the message right away. I will of course have words with Wren about her choice of messenger when I have the opportunity.

Woving stories is the best!
Okay, we've got three new players in and just waiting on Bronin's character sheet.
If at all possible, I'd love it if our three newcomers could know each other and be on the same journey. Simple because it's narratively simpler for me and I'm a lazy, lazy man. ;)
Daw shucks. It's all about redefining success!
Anyways, I'll give everyone a deadline of Monday (which should be plenty of time) to have backstories and a plausible reason you're traveling together hunting down some Whispering Wabbits. At that point I'll make something up. Of course if you're done earlier I'll bring you in that day.
Yep, cause finding yourself in a series of caverns below the deepest lake in the continent, inhabited by Skum and other denizens of the deep, when a group of heroes just happens by, chasing the same people you are interested in is plausible... :D

Probably the easiest is if I got a message from Wren and paid a caster to use Locate Object or setup a temporary Locate charm so I can find her. She's like a crazy old grandmother to me, the kind that smells like mothballs and gives you questionable hard candy, and I would miss her terribly. She is also in the know about who killed my friend.
It makes sense that once I found out she was deep in a cave system I hired or recruited some like minded murder hobos to escort me down there. It's also possible we were on a side mission related to the WW that just now found us converging. Multiple teams of detectives learning their cases were actually related the whole time, etc.
Or we've been in a big portable closet. :D
