PARTY! I also thought I could wander the town looking for stuff like magic items for sale, for when we have cash. And give burlee his promised snack.
Vladlena |
A cleric. We have a lack of healing, and assuming we encounter undead (a safe conclusion I think, given the module name) the channel energy ability will be life saving.
Eldon Appleton |
I second that. A cleric would be most welcome.
Norna Pheperra Raffereene |
Hey! I'm a cleric! o.O
OK, I'm not much of one, yet, but I have selective channeling...
By Desna, that's a blow to the ego. Norna sulks in the corner, nursing her stirge wound.
Vladlena |
You know, with the prestidigitation and eldon casting cures, I had forgotten that. My bad. Ok then, a rogue maybe, but a second cleric would be good
Eldon Appleton |
Pizzmic mentioned the campaign will get combat heavy later on. A second cleric could help, but a replacement fighter would too?
Vladlena |
I'm all leveled up. Just decided on my extra 0 level spell. I'm going with prestidigtation. Sigh bad spelling.
Vladlena |
Get better soon. Being sick is a drag.
Eldon Appleton |
How did those who already leveled up decide on their new HP total?
For now I'll add 5 HP like I'd do in PFS, but please tell me if I'm adding the wrong amount.
Vladlena |
I did half HD plus one, so 4 + my con after that.
Eldon Appleton |
I think that's the default, because PFS uses the same :O
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon now speaks Common, Gnome, Halfling and Undercommon. Or does anyone have suggestions for other languages we may encounter in this campaign?
Undercommon comes from Linguistics, which I took a rank in to possibly help us with reading tomes and other texts. Tell me if you think knowledge of another language may be more useful later in this campaign :)
Vladlena |
Kelid, the language of the lands original barbarian inhabitants might be good. Sylvan, as evil fey are a staple of these sort of stories.
Eldon Appleton |
I can't choose Kelid. With Norna already covering Sylvan, I think I'll pick Aklo instead of Undercommon. It's spoken by derros, inhuman or otherworldly monsters, and evil fey.
If evil fey are a staple of these sort of stories, then it might come in handy.
Vladlena |
If you get the linguistics skill, you can get any language as far as I know
Norna Pheperra Raffereene |
If you get the linguistics skill, you can get any language as far as I know
That is my understanding, too - even rare ones like Azlanti - with the one exception being Druidic.
Eldon Appleton |
I picked Aklo from this list. Though now I read it again it says it's just a list of the most common languages.
Norna Pheperra Raffereene |
Yeah, since that is the PRD, it doesn't have any of the Golarion-specific languages at all. Different copyright category.

How is it going DM?
Vladlena |
Last I heard the dm was sick. Are you better yet?
Eldon Appleton |
That's fine. Good to know you're feeling better!
Vladlena |
Without your health, you've got nothing. Good to hear you're over it.
Heto Rohen |
So to try and keep this moving along, it seem that some of the group is heading into town to gather information and shop while the rest wait at Kendra's manor and make preparations to head to the prison.
I am guessing there is little that those staying home need to role play, those that are heading out will have some though. Since he hasn't replied and initially indicated he planned to stay behind I think Burlee is probably staying at the house, I know Heto is.
I would say as long as the others are back by mid-day it is still worth it to head to the prison, but I am not sure how far away the ruins are because we do wish to be back before dark.
Do any of the casters have a magical way to communicate with Kendra while we are at the prison, in case something happens. And I will ask Kendra if she has any magical communications while I am there during the day.
Eldon Appleton |
I don't have a spell/device that would allow me to do that.
Vladlena |
That sort of communication is beyond Vladlena at this time.
Vladlena |
Is this game still ticking? Rollcall
Vladlena...here
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon's also here.

So, it's 4 of 5, with Burlee not yet checking in?
Unfortunately, I have to say that it seems we have lost the most critical person, Lord Pizzmic the GM, since there hasn't been activity since March 29, or almost two weeks now without so much as a word. (He also seems to have disappeared from the online game I know of that he was a player in, or, at least, he didn't start back up when the new scenario did.) Does someone know him in real life, as I remember?
At the risk of seeming or being rude and ungrateful, I'm afraid that even if things do start back up I don't think it is going to be regular enough to really get anywhere or to sustain the character and story development and momentum. (To be a party-pooper, I don't even see how we could have done enough to get to second level, which would be something like 15 encounters in PFS.)
There is a procedure for 'rescuing' a dying or dead campaign if it is truly abandoned by the GM, from the Online Campaigns page:
Did you inherit a play-by-post?
If you are the GM for a play-by-post campaign but didn't start the thread, please email webmaster@paizo.com.
We need:
A link to your profile page (click on your name at the top where it says "Welcome, your name!"
A link to the gameplay and discussion threads for the campaigns you have inherited.Just copy and paste these links from the address bar in your browser, please.
The crux, of course, is whether a replacement GM could even be found who is willing to make a huge time and effort commitment that, in the best of circumstances, would likely be several years long. (Sounds bad, doesn't it?) I've GMed almost 10 scenarios in the last 9 months, rescuing one, but I've so far hesitated committing myself to anything longer than a scenario - not even a module yet - for just these reasons.
Although it is rare, with unpredictable GM posting more the rule than the exception, the best situation I had was where the GM posted several times a day and the players were each expected to post at least once a day, with a bit of a slow down on weekends. When I wasn't sure if I could post regularly for a few days, I made sure that I borrowed a computer to let people know to GMPC me if I was holding things up. (Even using a clumsy phone browser, posting a notice only takes a few minutes.) The one player who failed to provide such notice was, after a few short disappearances, not invited back to the next level of the scenario. While probably a bit harsher than I would want to have been (or am, in my own group), it did keep the game on track.
With all that said, I would close on a bittersweet note, saying that I was glad to have a chance to see some of the best online role-playing I've seen right here. (Out of five, I think I was probably was coming in 5th!) The GM, too, really did a good job with setting and dialogue. (I also really loved having Pizzmic in one of my groups as a player, and kept being tempted to start up a second group just to have him back in the game.)
Sincerely,
Matt/Norna/GM FurtiveZoog

I'm sad to say I have to agree. Pizzmic did say he was ill in one post, so maybe it got worse. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt in these cases.
Having said that I have enjoyed the game and wish we could play further. I seriously considered offering to take over as dm. But unfortunately I have other commitments.
You are all good players and I would game with you again given the opportunity. I hope pizzmic is ok. If he comes back and PM's me I am willing to continue.
see you all around
Terry/Vladlena/Chillblame
Eldon Appleton |
I hope Pizzmic's alright. Sudden disappearances never sit well with me.
It was fun placing with all of you, and I hope to one day see this campaign continue.
Greetings,
Stephan/Eldon/StephNyan
Norna Pheperra Raffereene |
I hope Pizzmic's alright, too. I wish there was a way to get a RL contact in, just to see what's up and how he's doing. I'll send a PM, but, unfortunately, those aren't any different than a Discussion thread update for getting a hold of someone.
I wonder, now, about Burlee, too. Since this seems to be his only alias and campaign, he may have just quit coming back to the boards when the game seem to die. (Unfortunately, looking through the old posts, it also seems that Burlee was the one who knew Pizzmic in real life.)
But, some possible good news if people we interested: I may have found a replacement GM. The guy has been a player of mine for about 5 or 6 PFS scenarios so far, is in the midst of another AP (so he knows what it entails), and has some of the Carrion Crown stuff already prepared.
Edit: I PMed Pizzmic and Burlee, so we'll see if we hear anything.
Vladlena |
Well if there is any news just PM me, and I'll be there.
BURLEE |
Burlee here! Just had an extravagant birthday celebration. Note, I have this tab opened at all times, so whenever I can I will try to post. Now, I'll have a sit-down with Pizzmic to see if he wishes to carry on with this situation, especially because I've been having so much fun making the character people love into reality. So, I'd like to continue on and see where it goes, hopefully Pizzy feels the same.
Vladlena |
Happy birthday
