Eh, let's go with Matt's gut and say averages, particularly if Pizzmic (the GM I took over from) used them. So for a paladin that's max at first, 6 hp per level afterwards. So you'll start with 16 before bonuses.

We might want to have something, especially for people new to PF, where they can do a bit of a rewrite before the next level, like PFS's before 2nd level rewrite rule. There's a lot of PF to figure out if you are new (or old).

.

Sure, I've done that before in my games with new PCs. The group dynamic has changed quite a bit since you started out, too. If anyone wants to tweak your build feel free to do so and then post changes here.

.

Having troubles communicating with Clint. If I don't get a yay/nay out of him today I'll focus my attentions elsewhere to find a sixth.

The group can keep moving and doing their stuff while rjay works on his character. It won't be difficult to integrate new players for the next RL week or so of play - if you behave as expected ;)

Here is Rustom Ramashray, Paladin. Still working on a back storey. I will have it up soon.

Yay! Rustom looks fine from outward appearances. Custom built for undead-smashing.

As a note to the rest of you, I'm at ANOTHER conference for the rest of the week, but should have no trouble posting. That said my posting times may be different, and frequency may be a bit lower.

And finally, I'm giving up on Clint and will be investigating other options to get a sixth.

.

Okay, going to introduce Rustom into the game and let the party get the pleasantries out of the way while the character sheet and background are finished.

Hi Scott! I didn't know your name was Scott.

It is nice to meet you all and thanks Stephan it has been a slowly evolving character. Most of what I am ironing out with the GM is a custom archtype that I made for this character. I do not believe it is super powerful as that was not my primary focus, but it may have ended up that way. Since you may be playing with this archetype I thought it might help if I got your thoughts on it. It's all listed under the druid's of the Phoenix clan spoiler on his profile.

One thing I would suggest is that this can essentially be a playtest, and an easier one in that not much comes in to play immediately. Since we are running an AP in (at most) PFS 'Campaign Mode', really anything goes.

I read the Phoenix druid write up and a question springs to mind. If you reincarnate as per the level 15 ability, reducing the body to ash, what happens to your gear? Also I would make it once a week. What happens if the ashes are seperated, maybe over a large distance?

Male Tengu Druid 10 HP 72/72 | AC 20, T 13, FF 17 | CMB 8, CMD 21 | F:8 R:6 W:11 | Init. 3, SPD 20 | Perc. 18, SM 4 |

Great questions Vladlena, I would have to say the gear would just be there along with the ashes and not part of them. I don't know about once a week but maybe lower it to once every 1d4 weeks? If the ashes are separated it would definitely prevent the revival so I'll put that in.

.

And Kawrock is live in the gameplay thread! Have fun.

I'm going to review some similar abilities at high levels, on outward appearance I'm happy with the ability as a once a year thing, but comparisons will help.

reminds me of first edition damage rules for spell effects. Items were only damaged if you rolled a one on a save. So if you were disintegrated, or fried by a fireball and didn't roll a one, your items would be sitting there unharmed in the dust.

I was looking for similar abilities, and it reminded me of some of the 'capstone' abilities gained at 20th for oracles, especially the Heavens revelation, which includes:

Kawrock, Just some semi-random thoughts...

I was thinking that you might mess around with what cleric domains are available to caster druids of the Phoenix worshipers. Certainly Fire and Air (already available) are good choices, and the Ash subdomain might make particular sense. Likewise, it might make sense to make the Water and perhaps Earth domains forbidden, and Plant wouldn't make a lot of sense, either.

It also might be reasonable to add Healing domain and/or the Resurrection subdomain, and - a bit different for a druid - the Good domain, given the NG nature of the phoenix.

Non-bird or bird-like animal companions might be ruled out, adding in fire/smoke elementals and mephits if the Improved Familiar feat is taken.

Although the phoenix seems to have a particular thing for detecting poison for whatever reason, perhaps the Venom Immunity gained at 9th level could be replaced by something like the Fast Healer feat. Elemental Spell (Fire) might make a lot of sense, too, and could be coupled with some difficulty casting cold or water spells.

.

Hey everyone, so the loot from the false crypt seems to have been scattered to the winds and it's fairly important in this game. So I'd like to try and sort it out here.

Can I confirm that the following is correct?

6 flasks of holy water - distributed one to each party member
12 silver bolts - split between Eldon and Lena
5 +1 ghost touch bolts - split between Eldon and Lena (who gets 3)?
2 +1 undead bane bolts - split between Eldon and Lena
5 potions of cure light wounds - distributed to each party member except Norna
2 potions lesser restoration - taken by Genesis and Heto
2 scrolls hide from undead, 1 scroll protection from evil - Norna
planchette and board - carried by Norna?
4 sunrods - Lena, Heto, Eldon each took one. 1 unclaimed.

Of course, a complication is that half the party has changed. I'm saying that everyone who left handed in their magic gear to Kendra. If nobody minds, the simplest way to resolve that is to assign the gear to the new PCs along similar lines. So my suggestion to simplify things is this:

Kawrock - Potion of CLW and holy water
Rustom - Potion of CLW, holy water, and lesser restoration
Arval - Potion of CLW, holy water, and lesser restoration

This is just a suggestion. The PCs who actually find the loot may have their own opinions.

And furthermore, some important magic items were either intentionally not included by Pizzmic or missed. I'd like to include them; six vials which were in the same case as the spirit planchette. I'll mention them in-game for identification later.

Okay, some clarification on surprise rounds and block initiative since we have a couple newer players and I explained things poorly.

- Surprise is a 'free' round before normal combat where everyone who is not surprised gets half an action. So you can only take a move or standard, not both as is the case in other rounds.

- Block initiative means that rather than going in sequential order, initiative is split into blocks of PCs and their opponents. Within those blocks, people can post in whatever order they want. So in the last combat we had this:

Surprise Round (all PCs)
Block one (Kawrock and Eldon)
Block two (bad guy)
Block three (Lena, Norna, Arval, Rustom)

What that meant is Kawrock and Eldon got to take their surprise round, and block one actions in the same post. The others did not have this ability because they had to wait for the bad guy to go first. Clear as mud? Good!

I thought all halflings were rogues? Isn't your class "Halfling"? ;-)
Just an old reference to Bilbo and the Basic version of the old game.

Yeah, no one likes rogues anymore, and the class is widely seen as 'broken' - not very powerful compared to other classes and made redundant by many class archetypes with trapfinding capabilities. :-(

With the number of available options, few groups are "fighter, magic-user, cleric, thief" anymore. Even with two more to a group, rogues (or even a rogue replacements) usually aren't chosen. So, it is tough for me to figure out what place traps or rogues have in the game.

Additionally, having someone "scout ahead" - an old rogue task - seems like it will end in disaster more often than not, with the scout frequently having to face whatever it is alone. (With the stealth rules and common sense, the armored members of the party are going to have to be a long way back not to be heard.) This seems especially true with halfling and human rogues who, without darkvision, are essentially announcing themselves with their light source to all of the creatures with low-light and darkvision (basically, all of the bad guys).
