I think Ioneyse just needs a new background, but should otherwise be good to go, and Casimir needs a slight altering to the end of his background. But they're otherwise ready.
Ioneyse is the ship's High Factotum. Is there a good way to introduce her? I'm guessing the best way to introduce Casimir is to note that he has experience fighting Orks and suggest that he join Ludicus on the ground inspiring the troops and keeping their morale up. Or perhaps Ludicus can request him to come along?

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

OK, your ground deployment is essentially decided. I'll be moving the game on and you can decide your space deployment after meeting the first thrust of the invasion upon your flagship!
For crude simplicity, Casimir was originally the highest ranking missionary/ecclesiarchy inclined crew member and he got a little sidelined by Irena Tyr. With her having left with the Lord Captain, Iago was quick to bring him back into the fold of senior officers.
Becoming dissatisfied with the state of things in the defense council and senior officers squabbling, Navis Yosarni is increasingly fading into the shadows and reporting to Silas Tyr directly as a spymaster; leaving his most talented protegee suddenly dealing with the First Officer and stepping up as High Factotum.
There are more elegant solutions, but this lets us get into the teeth of things with you as a group rather than waiting weeks if not months of game-time putting plot together to pull you both in.

All sounds good to me. As for personal actions, I'd suggest either waiting to see where we may need it, or picking places that we would like to reinforce.
North and West wall seem like good places for personal actions. Also Levy/Bunkers, and Offense have a lot of troops committed to them. so they'd be good places for our leadership to be.

I am fine with solution. Should I begin posting in the Gameplay thread yet?

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Feel we need to give the new characters a chance to gel with the group; and for Silas to return. Casimir and Ionseye feel free to start posting now. I have a good feeling going forward and i'll be awarding XP after the final scene of this first act (not the meeting with the Defence Council, i'd like that to not take too long).

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

By the sounds of it we're not doing a proper space battle. It's very much like "this is how strong our force is, this is how strong their force is, roll to work out how much each side loses" so more like CIV fight than total war fight.
Very much this- but you'll have individual chances for glory and almost all "missions" will influence the war. You'll see an example of this the moment the war begins!

Iago Elias McKie |

No, we haven't. Iago did have a one-on-one conversation with her at the gala, but nothing beyond that. To be fair, very important information came out in that one-on-one, so I suggest going back and reviewing it. It could come up later on.
Also, because this has come up before, I think it is *awesome* that all of our carefully laid plans could unravel right here and now in the council chamber. I felt like everything was going a little too smoothly (mostly because of a vast series of outrageous rolling). So, I, for one, am having a great time. Even if Iago looks like he wants to pull out what little is left of his hair. :)

Iago Elias McKie |

We didn't miss her. :)
I really suggest going back and looking at what happened. It's been a while, but there are some important things that came up that we'll really want to keep in mind.

Iago Elias McKie |

So, speaking of the whispering/overhearing incident: we have been warned about this exact issue before. I don't think it'd be out of line for them to know what we're saying. Or at the very least get a perception test. I don't think there'd be any objections in this group. Actions having consequences always makes for a more interesting game. :)

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

I'd like to advance the game and now I have the deployments to do so. However, i'm waiting on two things I need from you guys in order to do so. I still need declared individual actions for the first phase of the war and I also require a decision on whether you are going to promise Dante support in the future in exchange for his full co-operation.
I think the latter is something that should be discussed in character, especially as you disappeared for a while Radavel. I'm not exactly saying it should go down to a vote, but the Rogue Trader shouldn't be so domineering that the others don't have a say and valuable input.
The remainder of the defence council meeting can be abstracted out at this point. You have little need to convince them of your deployment plans as they appear to be tactically sound, and you have already won over the major stakeholders.

Iago Elias McKie |

I cannot stress enough how important it is to go back and look at the briefs (and what happened) with both Locke and Dante. It took a lot of work to get both of them to where they are and it's a pretty delicate matter. We can discuss it in-character as well, of course, but it's important to go back. I'd prefer not to have to slow the game down and repeat everything that Iago has already given in briefs to the crew.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Believe we're waiting on Silas to respond.
I've been away from computer since Wednesday unfortunately (long birthday weekend for my partner) so admittedly i've not been in a huge hurry.
I cannot, however, advance the game without you guys having a clear plan for today's IC deadline- responding to Dante's proposal.

Iago Elias McKie |

That's a good point, perhaps an out-of-character deadline might push things along? I realize we're trying to build up momentum again, so things are a little slow at times, but I think we've been given plenty of time.

Trien |

I think we should just all state in OOC who we want to back and then just go with whatever the majority of votes are by the end of the weekend. Personally I want to back Dante as he seems more competent and it doesn't really matter to us if he seizes power after we save the planet since our mission atm is just to save the planet and nothing else.

Iago Elias McKie |

I think it's pretty clear what Iago's vote would be. ;)
But I'm happy with going either way. I think going with the Governor would be disastrous given what we've worked to build here and how tenuous it is. But it would be awesome to watch the train wreck.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

I'll have situation resolved soon, sounds like you guys have the votes for Dante.
Radavel and I have been talking over Facebook and I think we've agreed it would be best for him to bow out. I'll work in a retcon that will cover this.
We've had plenty of slow paced hiatus and long discussion. As soon as we fully resolve this little arc i'll throw some action your way :).

Iago Elias McKie |

Well, I always hate people dropping out of games, but it's one of those things that happens in pbp's. I hope everything is alright in his offline life and it's just an overabundance of good things that keeps him away!
I also always hate to recommend killing PCs, but this seems like a perfect opportunity for Dante to have Silas assassinated. He knows at least Iago and Varius would back him, though never if Silas disagreed and were alive. Perhaps it's even done in a way where the body isn't recovered? Just in case Radavel comes back down the road a long ways (maybe a little less of him and more machine, but nonetheless alive.)
Just an idea. Normally I'm hesitant to recommend killing off former PCs, but it seemed like an opportunity to make the stakes a bit higher.

Master At Arms Ludicus Marleno |

Hmmm, you know, after considering it, I got to say that I quite like the idea of that assassination plan.
It fits in very thematically as well, especially since Dantes way of thinking is that the governor is holding the planet back, and he plans on deposing him yes?
And the way Silas has behaved, why would not the General also think that maybe Silas is holding back his alliance with the house of Tyr and that this could also be made more efficient with a change of leadership there as well?

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Hi all.
I'm very sorry to have to do this and my long silence has mostly been a case of hoping I can get my ducks lined up in order to start regular updates again. Sadly, i've simply got to admit to myself this simply isn't going to happen anytime soon, so I must apologise to players old and new for closing down the campaign. I went through an extreme period of busyness at work and even now with two extra staff members its not gotten any less intense. I have honestly had the time to update some evenings (though not many) but i'm utterly burnt out and mentally fatigued from work and have no concentration or mental energy left to update.
This is the newest of my four PbP's and in the hope of salvaging my other three its fairest to kill this one first. No blame on anyone but myself, thanks for bearing with me, and my apologies once again.
