Casimir was born to a noble family on an Imperial World. Always a child of privilege he was raised in the light of the Ecclesiarchy and never doubted the power of the God Emperor or the truth of the Imperial Creed. As he grew older, however, his natural charisma and curiosity brought him into contact with some of the suppliers and traders that brought the more exotic and rare goods to his planet and to his family. He discovered that there was much more to the Imperium and found that there was a whole different culture out away from Terra. A culture where the light of the God Emperor was dimmed and where humanity suffered without guidance. Eager and naive, he joined the Ecclesiarchy and quickly became a missionary, setting out from the safety of home to brave the untamed reaches of the Imperium.
Despite his unwavering piety and zeal, he found himself struck by a new realization - as he moved further from Terra and further from the lavish life on an Imperial World, he realized that people had to make do with less and that the zealous light of the Emperor meant less to them than their next meal. While it saddened Casimir at times, he came to accept that burning zeal was not always the appropriate response to all situations - that for the best effect, zeal had to be tempered with realism and advice pertinent to the situation on the ground. Shrines could be built, but burning heretics could not be the first step.
Still his zeal pushed him further and further from the light of Terra, a burning passion to spread the Imperial Creed taking him to the frontiers of the Imperium. It was one such voyage that darkened his view and landed him on Damaris. Taking a ride on a small cargo liner through the Expanse, he heard rumors of the call put out by Damaris. Thinking nothing of it at first, Casimir intended to land upon a frontier planet and help erect a shrine within a newly formed settlement. Unexpectedly, however, his ship collided with an ork transport. In the ensuing fight Casimir was forever changed. It was his first contact with the xenos that he had preached against and it made his passion even greater. He saw their combat and he saw their technology. And when the fight was over, it was by the skin of his teeth that he escaped with two other crew members by escape shuttle to the surface of Damaris. It was a different plan, but the men and women fighting the ork threat needed inspiration too. And it was not as if he had any other options.
