Iago Elias McKie was born on the Fortress World of Vorzium IV. Since the moment he could hold a weapon he was trained to fight back the Chaos forces threatening the planet. Everyone served and no one questioned their role in keeping the Imperium safe. Most of his family were either serving the Imperium or dead, and so Iago spent most of his youth among the Ministorum, serving the clergy as well as the soldiers. For on a world such as this, both worked hand in hand to keep all taint of Chaos from the Imperium of Man. Lying about his age, Iago signed on with the Imperial Navy as early as he could. Working his way through various vessels and positions, McKie eventually found himself as the Master of Ordnance on The Shield of Tannhauser, one of the oldest Retribution-class Battleships in the fleet. It was on a return trip from the Koronus Passage that a mutiny took place. He doesn’t know how it started, but in the first few hours most of the officers of the crew were dead. Chaos had taken hold amongst the crew and cultists and worse ran amok. Months later he was still fighting for his life and soul. Iago tells himself that the Captain had gone insane, but they'd been killing the innocent along with the guilty for weeks. The official story is that the survivors of the Battle of Tannhauser's Gate are heroes. But those same few know the chaos that was unleashed on that ship survived and escaped. They were just unwilling to go down with the ship like their Captain. On the rare occasion that he’s asked McKie doesn’t speak about what happened, of the things he was ordered to do. He finished his service to the Imperial Navy, the offered drinks came slower, and soon people had moved on to other "heroes". A man like McKie has few skills beyond killing, and he was looking for a job. Luckily Rogue Trader vessels always have room for someone like Iago Elias McKie. Appearance and Demeanor:
McKie is known amongst the crew as a tough as nails commander and fiercely loyal to the Captain. His reaction to even a hint of disloyalty is often brutal. While not well-liked, he is respected. Iago isn’t a large man, and in fact he’s rather short, but no one would call him soft. Only north of thirty by a year or two, his hair is already grey and he appears to be at least a decade older. Scars cover the right side of his face and neck, disappearing beneath his uniform. His right arm, obviously a bionic replacement, often hangs as if he’s forgotten it’s still attached.
