This is Council of Thieves AP. Westcrown, City of Twilight, once was the center of Aroden's faith, but now it symbolizes despair. By day, the city remains a vibrant center of trade; but, by night only those with a death wish venture out.

As soon as they enter the tavern, Duncan walks around a corner and casts INVISIBILITY on himself, he returns to John and Lucrezia and speaks softly. Head out again, like ye was droppin me off. I'll follow and get on her tail.
A few more member of the Brotherhood find their way to the safehouse.
There are a few faces you have not seen before but they are greeted by Areal, Janiven and others that you do know. Recruitment looks like its been active.
The pretty Amalya arrives smiles at Orsin, then turns to talk to Gorvio the young man who provided horses to the group early on.
Rizzzardo and Tarvi are chatting with the gnome female, Yakopulio (Yak)about the slave trade in the a few brothels. "New girls arrived this week from the shakckles. That's what I hear" yak responds.
After a while Talbard the Grey arrives and Janiven does a small bow towards him. She then begins to pour a wine for several people while other help themselves to a keg of ale.

Elven Dancer(Disguise of .Shadow. Perception DC 18)
Description 'What every one sees':
The Elven lass is dressed lightly in flowing silken scarves. Some acting as a modest 'top' while others act as a simple skirt. She carries a well worn back pack, its patches and multi-coloured lacing showing the care at keeping the bag serviceable and functional. A short, linen wrapped object, perhaps a scroll tube, pokes out of the top of the back-pack.
Leather laced sandals protect the Elven girl's feet from the harshness that is the cities cobble-stone streets. She has 'acrobats' bracers about her wrists and for-arms. Obviously so well worn and comfortable they have probably been strapped on as second nature than as fashion.
Dice rolls and information for the DM:
Fluer is wearing her different scarves as a simple 'entertainer's dress. With pocketed and reinforced scarves keeping her modesty both top and bottom.
Her 'free spending moneys' are kept within the hidden pockets of the scarves. I will need a DM's adjudication of how many smoke pellets she can hide away in there as well. The leather bracers are, of course, where her favorite daggers have been spring loaded into. Everything else is in the back-pack. So maybe a stick or staff is poking out the top? (Her sheathed katana)(^_~)
Fluer the area that you are working is busy, lots of bodies haggling and jostling. You can see the armored man and the half-elf girl come out of bar but dwarf is no longer there, he seems to have stayed in the tavern.Make another perception check

Orsin looks over at Andrea, still nursing his ale. He sighs a little.
"I was just thinking about how I'll be leaving all of you behind one day, when all of this is over. As close as I've grown to each of you, I know it can't really last." He downs the remainder of his ale in a single swig, wiping the froth from his beard with the back of his sleeve. "Perhaps I'll just have to settle for more fleeting pleasures." Orsin grazes Andrea's rump, giving her a sly wink as he rejoins the group huddled around the Crux.

MmmMm.. Andrea flirts back. Fleeting but oh so sweet. Somehow I am rather more cynical about all this and wonder if any of us will live to see the Shadowcurse lifted.
Andrea pulls him back slightly I am wondering, what do you think about trying to get Janivan to start making the choices on how the Children are run? Areal is some kind of armchair rebel leader. Sending everyone else out to get mangled while he stays behind to plan the next mission. Janivan has been out with us at the start at least. Perhaps you could chat up Amaya and convince her.
Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5
Orsin is surprised when Andrea holds him back, but gives her his full attention. After she finishes, he nods grimly.
"While I'm not sure how we should go about restructuring the Children, I agree that every general belongs in the field alongside his men. Areal, at least from what I've seen, could be more involved in our activities. Thought perhaps it would be best if we spoke with him directly? If we try to supplant him without his knowledge, the Children might find themselves divided and our cause will fall to infighting. If that happens, well...then Westcrown will never be saved."
Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17
Hmpphh..I doubt he would ever do anything like have been doing. Since we have begun to identify the Shadowbeasts, how about we do something where the Children could, under a different name, escort people near dark back to their homes or even late night escorts? I can pray for a Continual Flame spell that sheds light until the magic is banished. Several of these could be used for the 'Lantern Bearers' for this purpose. Getting Areal involved with this might be useful.
Andrea sighs. Plus this might be a good thing for Ermolos and Fiosa to be involved in. They are more experianced than many of the others but both of them almost got killed in that ambush, and there is no telling what lies inside that Pathfinder building. We'll ahve enough trouble keping ourselves from dying.

"I agree. If we can put some of the more experienced Children to work outside of our little circle, we'll be saving them from risking their lives needlessly while still doing substantial good for the city. I still think we should talk to Areal about taking a more active role. Perhaps he could set his talents as a healer to use as a hospitaler? I don't know, perhaps he does much more than we're aware of. Let's just talk to him. We're valuable to him. He would be a fool not to listen to our concerns."
Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17
I'll let you take the lead on that. You are more..personable than I am, butter him up. Although getting Janivan in on it would be a bonus since they are the leaders of this movement, so chatting her up first would give us more traction.
Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17
We all pretty much have. I have no idea what John does and Duncan is usually off at the smithy while Lucrezia has her work. We certainly can't go stomping around the Pathfinder base tonight, so maybe you can have a little 'date' with Janivan and pitch the idea tomorrow.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but if there is an adjusted dice roll, don't reroll the dice, simply correct the modifier to the roll. Otherwise, it can get a bit confusing. Thanks.
Fluer in the hustle and bustle of the crowd you feel your scroll tube is being jostled.
"I was hoping Duncan would have gathered the others by now, I don't really want to proceed without the others." He looks around the group, pausing slightly at Andrea, smiles, "I've made some arrangements with a few valuable contacts, they have assured me that Shinon will be safe from the dottari." He looks over at mage, "My friend...do you have any ideas on how to open the crux?
Lucrezia, John and Duncan (invisible) manage to weave and jive their way back to the safehouse. When they enter they see Areal, Janiven, Aelyn, Orsin, Andrea and Faelyn in the house all examining the crux. Tehre are several familiar faces of brotherhood members, along with a few new people. There is man with frayed white beard and spectacle's over his hooked beaked nose walking around the table...muttering out loud.
"Heya guys, unfortunately we couldn't find Sunny's body and it looks like someone may have dragged it off, perhaps to the docks. We also found out that the only ship that departed from those docks last night belonged to the Grulios family."
Lucrezia makes her way over to the table that has the crux sitting upon it. Shall I go ahead and take a crack at getting that thing opened now?"

Andrea curses under her breath in Infernal at Lucrezia's news.
I do have Dispel Magic in my memory but do not know how it will work. If Lucrezia is unsucessful, I will cast that. I can pray in the morning for Augury if we need to break for the night.

Infernal:
Duncan. I was talking to Orsin about this and how about we have Ermolos and Fiosa, along with the other Children start up a 'Lantern Bearer' service? Ever since we fought the Shadowbeasts, I think having something where people can be escorted home after dark might be a good idea. I can pray for a Continual Flame spell and pass out clubs/rods lit with them. They can go out in pairs for this, safety in numbers and all that.
Andrea sighs. Plus it would be a good way for Ermolos and Fiosa to work and train the others, that ambush showed that we are starting to get in over our heads and they nearly died. I don't know if we should bring them into the Pathfinder building with us.
I'm going to repost the creation rules under this discussion for future reference, since I did not create the original Recruitement thread.
A few basic rules, if I GM:
20 Pt buy
No score below an 8 before racial adjustment.
Average coin
Download the Free PG
2 traits, (1 must be a campaign trait)
No third party material
No Alchemist, Gunslinger or Summoner
Core races only, no thiefling characters.
4 people (5 if there is no posting issues)
Minimum 3-5 posting a day.
No evil
I'm sure I would have few other rules but I'd need to think about it.
I'm going to try to get the gameplay up later tonight but realistically sometime tomorrow.
Everyone confirmed they can be active posters, 3-5 times a day, which is great. I do understand life happens and we other committments and posting can be hard. If you know posting could be slow try to let us know, so we work around it.
I've asked all six recruits to come join the group, hope that is not an issue with anyone. Hope it does not slow things down, but there does tend to be some attrition in these PbP games.
Welcome aboard...may the shadows of the night not devour your soul.
"Before the Age of Lost Omens, Westcrown dubbed itself “the shining light of Aroden’s civilization.”
Now, others taunt us and say, “You can find anything, civilized or not, in Westcrown—except for
Aroden.” Ignore outsiders—we know the truth. We did not fail Aroden—he failed us, though we
Wiscrani held the faith! We embraced that adversity and replaced his betrayal with strength and
order. The Hellknights paved our way and House Thrune walked it to greatness. I don’t blame them at
all for moving the capital—this place only reminds you of past failures. Besides, better for a Wiscrani
to make a living without so many priests or imperials around, and easier for those of us who deserve
it to ascend to higher stations without them in our way."

Initiative:
Place your initiative modifier in character class/level line.
When combat arises I will roll everyone's initiative and post the rolls. This should speed up the pace of the Order and play.
Saves:
I won't roll saves for everyone, unless play bogs down. We will play that by ear and see how it goes.
Combat:
Everyone should post two actions, their first choice and an alternative choice, to help speed up combat. Obviously, we all will not be posting in order.
I'll run it free form rather than maptools (I just don't know how to use mapping tools. If someone posts a quick tutorial...I mean a dummies guide to using, I will be happy to reconsider.)
Let's use the standard PBP formatting
italics for internal monologue/thoughts
Bold for speech out loud
Out of character for out of character comments or questions
If anyone doesn't know how, look at the bottom of the page under the submit post button and forum rules blurb, there is a thing that says "How to format your text (show)" Just follow that.
Also, if you want to make a roll and then react to it in the same post, put the formatting in for the dice and then hit preview. It will show you the results of your roll before you post.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas? Anything they have experienced either positively or negatively with PbP?

Just a quick thing for those who don't know how to make an alias, you go to "my account" at the top of the page. Go to the box title message board alias, then click create new messegeboard alias. This way you can keep your profile for other things than just that character, and allows you to be in more than one pbp game.
As for the map, you only need Google docs and some picture editing tool and a digital copy of the map you are using.

Has anyone ever played this AP? It doesn't matter if you have or not, I will add my own flavor and touches.
I have not played this AP before. I am still very interested, and I apologize for not responding sooner. Will update my profile with my answers to the questions now.

Well, I have an individual post for each of the party in the gameplay thread/tab. You can check in, read it and post your response or reaction on the gameplay thread. That should get the ball rolling.

Also, I can post from my phone as long as I am not actively working, sleeping, or at my live game night which is Sundays. MY working gaps are two hours apart. It is possible for me to post in between those. Here's to a good game, cheers.
This AP assumes everyone is either from Westcrown -(which I'm sure I will call Westport a few times, so I apologize ahead of time for those typos)- or they have been their long enugh to be familar with the city's workings. That being said, I will impart descriptions for the city throughout the game.
A lot of this will be common knowledge, I will tell when it is not and have you roll the appropriate Knowledge role. Obviously, Knowledge Local and Nobility are useful skills.

I have never been part of a campaign that posts quite this much. Pace is okay just try not to leave anyone behind. Popping on after two hours for 15 minutes and all I can do is read. Barely able to get my posts in.

And I was so confused about STR Ranger for a second. I was concerned that we had two rangers in the same group!
Anyway, I get back and see a whole 16 posts waiting for me! This is pretty exciting. The pace is good, and I'm sorry that I missed out on so much of it. But I'm back for the night, and now I'm going to make up for lost time.
Shinon, don't worry about missing the posting right, I really want to draw everyone into the scene and begin to feel urgency of the scene. Plus, there is the background information folks will know. So far, everyone is doing fine. The pace will slow down, eventually.
