OK, all, welcome to the game. Why don't you post your characters' crunch, please, and I'll give them a good look over, though I assume most of you will be fine. Average +1 for HP, please.

Also, while I normally wouldn't tell you this, I will say that during the course of the adventure you'll end up with three mythic tier. Please stat up your character in that format as well, since I figure with the new rules it might A) take a little longer to do and B) take me longer to look at. This doesn't need to be done immediately -- we can get started before that -- but if you can try to do it in the next week or so, that'd be great.

These are new rules, obviously, so please be patient once we get to the mythic stuff. Feel free to holler if you think I'm messing something up.

I'll try to post 5-10 times a week. Generally I get one in a day, but sometimes I get more (especially if it's role-playing, and not combat) and every once in a while I skip a day for whatever reason. I ask that you please try to do the same. If you have to miss a couple days (or less, if we're in combat), just let us know.

Feel free to say what you're doing in Blackcrag Cove. Action will start up pretty quickly, but you can decide whether you all know each other or not.

My character sheet is pretty close to finished. I do have a build-related question since I have one extra feat to spend.

According to an official FAQ, a FOB-able feat (such as Power Attack) gains the benefits as if the monk was a 'Full BAB' class - in terms of effects. So the Power Attack benefit would be based on his FOB BAB not his 'regular' BAB. My question is... does this rule apply to feat acquisition or just effects?

I'm debating taking Clustered Shots. My 'regular' BAB is one short of qualifying. But my FOB BAB would beat the requirement.

I'm not dying for the feat and there are plenty of other fun choices I can take, so if you'd rather not rule on this - just say so. No skin off my nose.

Hey, thanks for the opportunity despite the scattered submission, Motteditor. I'm working to have a full story, description, and build up today.

Lacsar, you mind if i use your character as a story anchor? Do you kind being the bud of a slightly-unhinged, amnesiatic samsaran?

Everyone else, my biggest hurtle is spell selection. Oracle gives me Cures for free, and his Samsaran will give him 4 spells from the Druid/Inquisitor lists. I'd like to have a balance between control, buff, and rebuff spells, but i don't want to step on anyone's toes. Let me know anyone's thoughts. Otherwise, I'll just pick'em myself. :)

Dorian is unlikely to have known the party for very long. He's a mercenary who frequently switches groups. That's not to say that he can't already be connected to one or more party members; Just that that connection isn't likely to run very deep.

How are we on UMD scores? As you can imagine, mine blows. But I have some coins jingling in my pocket and I'm willing to get a Wand of Cure Light Wounds if someone else can put it to use.

Me and Tickdown can use those wands for free. Tickdown does have a rank in the skill (it looks like).

Nic should be updated. I just have to do the Mythic upgrades, but I wont' be able to get to those today.

If anyone has any sugggestions on spells or gear, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I should be ready to roll.


It turns out that the mythic upgrades didn't take long. I don't even need to update the sheet in order to summarise them. When Dorian becomes Tier 1, he'll get:

+3 HP
The standard abilities every Tier 1 gets (Hard to Kill, Mythic Power, Surge)
Archmage Arcana (Wild Arcana)
Legendary Item (his ring, which will have Perfect Surge as its ability)
And the Extra Mythic Power feat.

Unless I've missed something, that's the lot.

Tickdown, I'm not seeing what you've spent gear on. I see the crossbow (8,000 or so), the slippers (3,000), the buckler (1,000) and a couple potions. Am I missing something? (Obviously you don't have to spend all your cash if you don't want...)

Lacsar, had time to look it over and think about it, and I think I'm going to say you cannot take the clustered shots feat. Also, can't quite tell -- do you have one or two arrows of greater slaying?

I didn't notice anything with Nic.

(I'll look over the mythic stuff in a bit. That'll take me a little longer as I'll have to really dive into it a bit more. I'm not 100 percent sure you should be able to apply fleet charge to your mount -- after all, the guardian path has a beast's fury ability to lend mythic power to your mount -- but I'm willing to allow it. Any other thoughts, since again these are new rules for all of us.)

No worries on Clustered Shots. I've got more than enough bow feats. I'll pick something fun in another vein.

I do have two Greater Slaying Arrows. Both are currently for hammering Evil Outsiders but I may switch one to some other category.

Have some time to kill, so figured I'd do a bit of research...

When you gain your three mythic tiers, you will get:
+2 to one attribute
2 mythic feats
Hard to Kill (Ex): Whenever you’re below 0 hit points, you automatically stabilize without needing to attempt a Constitution check. In addition, you don’t die until your total number of negative hit points is equal to or greater than double your Constitution score.
Mythic Power (Su): Mythic characters can draw upon
a wellspring of power to accomplish amazing deeds and
cheat fate 9/day.
Surge (Su): You can call upon your mythic power to overcome difficult challenges. You can expend one use of mythic power to increase any d20 roll you just made by rolling 1d6 and adding it to the result. Using this ability is an immediate action taken after the result of the original roll is revealed.
Amazing Initiative (Ex): +3 initiative. In addition, as a free action on your turn, you can expend one use of mythic power to take an additional standard action during that turn. This additional standard action can’t be used to cast a spell. You can’t gain an extra action in this way more than once per round.
Recuperation (Ex): At 3rd tier, you are restored to full hit points after 8 hours of rest so long as you aren’t dead. In addition, by expending one use of mythic power and resting for 1 hour, you regain a number of hit points equal to half your full hit points (up to a maximum of your full hit points) and regain the use of any class features that are limited to a certain number of uses per day (such as barbarian rage, bardic performance, spells per day, and so on).

Plus a Path feature and three path abilities.

The only purchasable items in the book are mythic magic items... so unless you wanna blow 25K GP or more - and have DM permission - you are outta luck. Time to buy those plain old magic toys. :)

On that note, Lacsar is done and I've sketched out his Tiers... although I'm still debating changing Tier 3 a bit.

Don't worry; Dorian has that area covered. Thanks to the 'Acadamae Graduate' feat, he can summon as a standard action.

Yep. I couldn't pass up the flexibility of Summon Monster 3, but i don't have any feats to enhance it. So Dorian is indeed the superior summoner, i can just do it more often (not counting Myhic options).

And bringing in additional front liners is something I'm happy to do when necessary. :)

Combat:

I tend to run it in rounds, because otherwise I lose track. Generally what I do is I'll roll initiative, and anyone who gets more than the antagonists go. Then I'll run the antagonists. Then we enter Round 1 proper, where I'll have all of you post your actions before adjudicating them along with the antagonists (so you can always react to what the antagonists will do). You'll go roughly in initiative order, though I do sometimes fudge it a little for prose purposes.

I'll try to take smart actions for you if something happens to make your action not work.
