Duncan Redhammer |
Not quite understanding why Andrea was using such foul language, (since in Westcrown any learned person could speak, infernal- it was a good bet The greybeard, Faelyn, Fiosa and Areal all spoke it) Duncan answers back in common, despising the use of the lower tongue.
Torch bearers is a good idea, but I ain't fer putting young ones at risk, what yer suggesting is better left for Dottari or trained warriors at least.
Andrea1 |
We need to keep our plans seeekerett!
Im not talking about fighting Shadowbeats, just escorting people home. Perhaps even lighting up poorer parts of town with such torches. If we can find a way of keeping the torches from being stolen, putting them in the stone somehow via magic or stonecraft it would let them have little islands like in the richer parts of westcrown.

disable device 1d20+12
"Heya guys, unfortunately we couldn't find Sunny's body and it looks like someone may have dragged it off, perhaps to the docks. We also found out that the only ship that departed from those docks last night belonged to the Grulios family."
Lucrezia makes her way over to the table that has the crux sitting upon it. Shall I go ahead and take a crack at getting that thing opened now?"
Lucrezia feels the holy goodness in her body as she works the crux puzzle. As the she works the lock, the first rune glows. Add +1 to the next roll for getting the first lock opened. You get a cumulative +1 for each rune you succeed on. There are 7 more runes to go.
Fluer |
Fluer would raise an eyebrow at the comment, but thank the fellow and part with 5 Copper. Thence head off to find this 'Grotto'...
"Why am I not surprised" Fluer mutters to no on but her self as she moves on.

Faelyn Sindrel |
It is probably best that everyone not involved in disabling the crux go into another room. Talbard can you cast anything to help with the disabling of the device?
Faelyn leads whoever is willing into another room.
Lucrezia Villanova |
If that worked for the 2nd lock,
here's the try for the 3rd lock:
[ooc]3rd lock 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 21
Talbard the Grey |
Once Talbard sees the burning fingers he casts energy resistance fire on Lucrezia. Resistance 10
Crux update:
one Rune is discovered but Lucrezia has missed 2 of the 8 chances before it reshuffles. She currently has +1 to open the crux from having one rune glowing, and +1 guidance. I assume Andrea will continue to cast before each attempt.[/ooc]
Lucrezia Villanova |
Lucrezia curses loudly in both common and elven each time her fingers get singed. She knows that the crux needs opened though, so she will keep trying.
I'll just through out several rolls. Since I'm not sure of the dc i need to make, just add the +1 for any successful rolls to the next ones.

Duncan shuffles into the other room and waits by the door with his Bastard Sword in hand should something nasty get teleported in.
Patience Girl, ye'll get it.

Lucrezia beginning with your roll of a 32, which is a 33 given Andrea's guidance, that succeeds. The second attempt fails, singing your fingers. the third attempt succeeds with the guidance and bonus one from correct rune. You now have two of the eight runes lit, giving you +2 bonus. Your fourth and fifth attempt fails both singing your fingers. the sixth attempt succeeds. You ahve +1 guidance and +3 for correct runes. Your seventh attempt succeed with your bonuses. You have +1 guidance and +4 on your next rolls
You can see there are 4 of the 8 runes are lit. You have 3 of the 8 miss attempts before it reshuffles. Roll five more attempts.

1d20 + 4 + 1 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 + 12 = 36
Another success, right?

1d20 + 6 + 1 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 + 12 = 28
Did it reshuffle or do I get any more attempts on this go?

Finally! Let us see what this thing holds. Everyone back up a bit in case someone decided to throw something nasty inside for the giggles.

As Lucrezia unfolds the box it becomes larger and larger, very similar to a bag of holding, and there are several interesting items.
The first item pulled from the first fold in the box is a Leather Portfolio: This leather-bound portfolio bears a single mark on its cover—an embossed and very stylized letter “D.” A DC 20 Knowledge (local) AS the items is placed on the table.
baldwin the merciful |
The second item is Silver Box. You can make perception checks and disable device checks in case it is trapped.
The third item are three scrolls in a waterproof case.
The forth item are a pair Wands: They are a matched pair of slender oak wands.
The last item is a Erinyes Head: The strangest object in the crux is the
severed head of the erinyes a severed head that immediately begins shrieking and screaming as soon as the crux is opened. You piss-ant piece of dire rate shyte...may your eyes pop out and rot in boil sewage like your rest of the filthy hoard that put me in that box."
baldwin the merciful |
Even after the mistreatment, it is possible to tell that erinye's was once quite beautiful, with crimson red hair that somehow still defies the abuse it has received. Her sinister eyes, though, reveal her devilish heritage, as does her penchant for litanies of curses and ramblings in Infernal.
The language turns foul in infernal, "niut knirkdyal, haouorhs kksnoy dwar..vleianbakyhd andadh hyealkzzxkc."

"handsome...yeh, you...no-brains but cute as hell..." her eyes gazing at Orsin, "let me show you the talents of my tongue..."She stretches her mouth wide and wiggles her tongue in a lewd way towards Orsin.
"Don't you worry sweatie I've been locked away but I switch hit for you." her eyes focusing on Lucrezia.
Lucrezia Villanova |
"Shut your filthy f!*~ing mouth you gods be damned foul smelling piece of h**$#**%&. You look more like a severed trolls arse than a devil's head. If you can't keep a civil tongue in your severed head we can cut it out, shove a diseased rat in your mouth and then sew it shut."
perception 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
disable device 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

Quite the tongue you have on you, best be careful it doesn't get cut off
Andrea casts Detect Magic and Guidance on the wands to try to see what they are.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16#1
Spellcraft: 1d2 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 #2
Unfortunatly, Andrea gets too distracted by all the yelling to concentrate.
Lucrezia Villanova |
Lucrezia snickers and gives Faelyn a wink. "Why Faelyn? Thinking about your own little head?"
