- Something like the Witcher or Nathan Drake; an adventure game starring one of the iconics, Eando Kline or someone else?
- An update of Baldur's Gate style classic RPG, with gorgeous graphic and a dense, convoluted plot?
- A giant Golarion set MMORPG?
- A fantasy version of For Honor, with the iconics duking it out in some famous Golarion locations?
- Something else entirely?

I'd love to hear your ideas

I have two (possibly 3) in my head:

First is a classic styled isometric CRPG like baulder's gate. We might be getting this with the Kingmaker game that is currently in development. But, basically take Pillars of Eternity and throw a Pathfinder skin and lore on it.

Second is a MMORPG. Basically, take Everquest II and throw a Pathfinder skin and lore on it. (Sadly Pathfinder Online is like, totally not it.)

A third possibility would be to have a more modern CRPG, something like Divinity or maybe like Neverwinter Nights modernized, but throw a Pathfinder skin and lore on it. So, a lot more robust in graphics and effects, cinematics for the story line, a bit more modern gameplay. Bonus points for an actual easy to use Map Maker/DM Mode.

As far as the Card Game goes, well we fortunately have that already in digital form, and it's pretty much a perfect interpretation of the physical game.

I'd love to see a story based/driven game Like SWTOR, but in a fantasy setting. Pathfinder has too many classes and races to pull it off, but if they scaled back some I think they could pull it off (perhaps start with 6 races and 6 classes, then slowly add more over the course of time).

As long as it's nothing like the short-lived pathfinder online that never seemed to go anywhere, I'm good.

For me Pillars of the Earth needed exactly this, some background world as developed as the D&D/Pathfinder ones. They did a good job with a new one and the characters are fun, but the game would have really shined in all aspects with this.

You caught my imagination with Fantasy based For Honor. That would make a great PVP game, but instead of the iconics I'd like to have the versatility of Pathfinder's character building options with the great combat system of For Honor.

Like completely customized characters with classes defining the base abilities and feats or class feature choices giving additional combat skills.

I know this is propably way too complex to put into one game, but we never now where technology will bring us...

An adventure path like Rise of the Runelords could be done like the Baldur's Gate games, updated for current tech.

Turn Based game with modding beyond Neverwinter Nights.

I kinda want a first person survival RPG taking place in The Worldwound. Just a lone crusader, trying to make it out in the freakish, abyssal wastes.

Beemdog has Neverwinter Night Enhanced Edition.
I have played NWN2 and it looks great but I have heard about how bad it is to create your own stuff compared to NWN1. The controls are funky too.

It would also be nice to have a Pathfinder version of the game though that would be a LOT of Archetypes. Such a game might have to stick to the core rule book and maybe one other (APG for traits?).

I haven't played a muliplayer NWN game or a Persistent World, but I believe there are all kinds of setting the GM can set up.

Rise of Runelords done in TOEE or D&D Tactics (PSP game) style, I prefer turn based Pathfinder.

While, I wouldn't mind Baldur's Gate, still like turn based more.

I would love an adventure in Cheliax (my favorite kingdom because I love Devils) where you get to design your character similar to Skyrim/dragon age character creation where every/race class has its own starting story (again like the original dragon age origins). The main character gets caught up in a conspiracy to kill or dethrone Queen Abrogail the 2nd and ends up stopping it earning a cool sounding title that they can be refered to the rest of the game (similar to in skyrim your the dragonborn, and DA:O youre the warden) and awarded a noble name and holds to go with it.

From there the game expands into a massive adventure across the country of Cheliax where you can side with the thrice damned house thrune, put a rival house into power, or put your own house into power to eventually control all of Cheliax. It would be a very heavily politically focused game but at the same time require the main character to gain allies (perhaps iconics but Ild prefer regular characters that fit the setting), forge alliances with other noble houses, and expand wealth/weaponry to eventually fight against whoever stands against their ultimate goal

For me, the Black Isle and Infinity engine era of CRPGs is my absolute favorite era in video games, so the fact that Chris Avellone is working on the Kingmaker game is pretty exciting.

So give me that dense convoluted plot with tons of characters and lots of reading, please.

Liberty's Edge

Turn-based. Most APs.
Gold Box AD&D 1989/1990, to ToEE (3.5 ruleset late 2000s) to PF turn-based.

Get good devs tho - ToEE needed fan mod so your characters would not automatically get up from prone every time, triggering AoO every time!

Thanks,

Zanzibaran

1 - Turn-Based, Grid Combat(Think Final Fantasy Tactics) 4-6 Party Members active (with maybe another 6 in reserve, or even infinite amount) Fully Customizable or Player Character Fully Custom with partially Customizable well fleshed out party members. This would be my dream game.

2 - Skyrimfinder - This would be a great way to explore different nations, and the ability to join PFS/Hellknights/Etc. would be AWESOME. And the endless options for crafting a character in PF would make for a game with tons of replayability in theory.

3 - A "Witcher-esque" game with a mostly pre-determined character identity, perhaps like Dragon Age you could select between several pre-sets, though part of what makes the Witcher's storytelling so tight and engaging is using a pre-written character imo. Would be a great chance to delve deep into a single nation and it's politics, this is where I think a game based in Cheliax would REALLY shine(though it would be my first choice for any style PF game!)

Owlcat Games, uhm, might already be doing it? I mean, an isometric RPG, check. Using one of Paizo's Adventure Paths as a solid plot structure, check. Choosing Kingmaker, the one that has the most to gain from having a computer assist with the number management? Check and check.

But that's a boring answer. If we were to get more creative, I would love to see Paizo pick a specific non-core class and build a game around it. Summoners and Cavaliers that play the game like a top down Final Fantasy Tactics style endeavor. Rogues and Ninjas that do a Tenchu Stealth Assassins kind of run to sneak around and take down key targets across the inner sea. Magus mixing spells and melee to play like the Witcher.

You know what? Nix all of that. I want a game where I play as a custom built Eidolon, call in my Summoner for spell support in combat, and spend my downtime in a surreal Otherworld socializing with other Eidolons.

Count me in for that as well, especially if you can get a full adventuring party playing together at the same time.

skyrim esk game but with friends and access to all the classes/race/template combos with an integrated system for 3rd party and house rules and no pesky alignment system

I liked the arcade 2d beat-em-up games based on D&D back in the days ^_^

I believe that it could work for Pathfinder... with a few modifications:
- 2.5d gameplay, similar to Vanillaware's Dragon's Crown; 3d models for 2d-styled gameplay, similar to Double Dragon Neon by Wayforward, also 3d models are "cheaper" in terms of workload. 2D sprites need to be drawn for every frame of animation... and in a world where gamers are asking for HD / 4K with 60 frames per second, it is probably the best to use a 3d model which the model and its animations are easily changeable and editable if needed.

- Valeros (Fighter), Merisiel (Rogue), Seoni (Sorcerer), Ezren (Wizard), Kyra (Cleric) and Harsk (Ranger) as starting playable characters. The other iconics are unlocked are you complete levels.

- Levels being broken down into 2 stages; it would also help for checkpoints and such.

- Levels being based on the APs.
Rise of the Runelords
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Second Darkness
Legacy of Fire
Council of Thieves
Kingmaker
Serpent's Skull
Carrion Crown
Jade Regent
Skull & Shackles
Shattered Star
Reign of Winter
Wrath of the Righteous
Mummy's Mask
Iron Gods
Giantslayer
Hell's Rebels
Hell's Vengeance
Strange Aeons
Ironfang Invasion
Ruins of Azlant
War of the Crown

- Branching paths; you start with one AP then you can select between 2 APs you complete the first one, etc.

- Modules as DLC; ok, ok, so DLC might be considered a "bad idea", but come on... Modules aren't as long as APs and they could be only 1 stage instead of 2.

- Multiplayer, both offline and online.

A zoned MMORPG the way Warcraft does it: Golarion's disparate (from a certain point of view) countries feel perfect for this.

Wait, I almost forgot. Gotta have Breath of the Wild's physics and climbing engines.

Romance visual novel which goes hardcore horror at the moment when you'd least expect it.

That would be "Skyrim-esque"

So a dash of Doki Doki Literature Club?

I would like to see another isometric game like Baldur's Gate or Temple of Elemental Evil.

-Real time with turn based combat (real time optional)
-Multi-player and online available
-Open source
-An extensive list of optional rules that can be integrated at the beginning of a campaign
-Complete or near complete spell, feat, and skills lists, each having a use somewhere in the game
-'Build your own dungeon' option
-Vast world with new adventures added regularly
-Many classic AD&D modules in game

1. A Witcher-esque action adventure RPG with lots of NPCs, dialogue, and quests. Doesn't have to follow the rules of the RPG very closely, the lore and world of Golarion would be more important.

2. A reasonably faithful adaptation of PF RPG rules in a ToEE type cRPG with turn-based combat. The Kingmaker cRPG is close enough for me to want to buy it when it's finished. No interest in playing an unfinished early access version of it, though.

An MMO WITHOUT PvP/Grindfests/microtransactions/mandatory content.

Subscription or in-game currency based.

NOT tied to a smart phone or a social media connection!

Has "be more like Skyrim" ever improved any game other than Skyrim (which is by definition already maximally Skyrimesque)? Elder Scrolls peaked at Morrowind, IMO. Skyrim is a fine game, it really hits that sweet spot of low-commitment, low-impact, abnegation/chillout game, but it's also less than compelling in its capacity to present characters/stories or to allow roleplaying as characters distinct from each other save for how they perpetrate violence, things I would expect to be front and center in a good PF game.

An MMO that is true to the lore of Golarion would be great. What I mean by that is where you can play a class from the TTRPG and run round Golarion doing stuff. I would likely subscribe to that for a while if the monthly was reasonable or better yet like a pre-paid phone service where you buy a chunk of game time and are able to use it as time allows.

Another idea for a game I had kicking around my brain was a PFS version on phone/ios/android what would be something like a pick up game. I had this idea playing Clash of Clans and seeing that games matching system. The thought is that you open the app and join a PFS game. The game matches you with a GM and players and the game launches into a digital version of a PFS scenario. Not sure how the actual game interface would work, but I imagine you do not need something thats graphic intensive. I just like the idea of finding time in my day, picking up my phone or tablet, hitting a "join" button and be playing a PFS scenario in a few minutes. Probably too ambitious but this is a speculative thread anyway, right?

I thought of another one. A game in the style of Path of Exile but set in a small fishing village a stones throw away from the legendary black tarn. The player(s) must fortify the town and then enter the black tarn, going down level after level to eventually find whatever lies at the bottom. Do the characters succeed and destroy the legend beneath the mythical location or will they become another of the black tarns victims

Yep, that.

I'm glad that, after a while, developers realized that there is a serious demand for games like those "oldschool" ones. It means I'll get more good games to play in the future. I never was a fan of TPS/FPS rpgs, though the Witcher series is cool. Regardless, give me a beautifuly drawn 2d isometric, team-based rpg, with interesting story and fleshed-out NPCs, preferably on a developed rpg setting and with a familiar rules-system and I'll be happy for a time. :)

So yeah, Kingmaker looks good! :D

I would be torn between a DDO style of gameplay (minus the huge power creep) and EQ style gameplay (much less twitchy).

Both are MMOs, and I would hope to see the full scope of character customization in either.

am I the only one that would like a Crusader Kings 2 or Europa Universalis 4 Grand Strategy game set in Golarion?

As far as I'm concerned they're already making it, the Kingmaker CRPG.

I hope it's successful enough that we get annual sequels based on other Adventure Paths :D

Yeah, something like what was done with BG/IWD and the recent Shadowrun games.

It'd be like the good 'ol days again! :D

I really hope it'll get to that.

I think the real issue is that Paizo is unlikely to get $100m+ for an AAA game without giving up publishing rights to their IP, which isn't going to happen. But modern isometric renaissance CRPGs like Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, and Torment: Tides of Numenera are not outside the range of what someone can actually be made for acquirable amounts of money. So if we want our Pathfinder computer game to exist, it's going to be something in that vein.

I do hope that other APs get the Kingmaker treatment. I think a CRPG version of Strange Aeons would be awesome (though perhaps there are rights issues?)

Doom (2016) equse featuring a Paladin in the worldwound who Rip and Tears his way through the abyss to punch Deskari in his stupid bug face.

I think there may be a similar post a few years ago

But

My dream game would include elements of a few different games

1st TURN Based Combat is a must
Many elements of TOEE (with patch)
Old school dungeon crawl

2nd Some elements of Stronghold series
Think Downtime rules as well as Kingmaker
Some parts of story line with require building up castle and defenses, perhaps to face a siege

3rd Some elements of Total war series
Mass combat options
Recruit allies, Diplomacy Siege or defend your castle (see above)

Also like the suggestions (4saken1)
-Complete or near complete spell, feat, and skills lists, each having a use somewhere in the game
-'Build your own dungeon' option

Some uncleaar "gray" alignment decisions
Not sure what game it was , maybe Dragonage
but I liked that it had several tough "Gray" decisions about good/evil

I will enjoy games similar to those with theme and rules from pathfinder:

Shadow over mystara
Temple of elemental evil
World of warcraft/old republic
Neverwinter nights 1/ knights of the old republic 1
Arcanum: of steamworks and magick obscura
Fallout 1 & 2

.

I have always wanted someone to come out with a customizable video game close enough to tabletop rules that you could run most combats on the computer.

So you could roleplay around the table normally... and then switch to your laptop or iPad or whatever for a couple of minutes to do a big fight... and then continue on. Basically a way of speeding up combats.

Neverwinter Nights mods came closest, but to my knowledge no one has ever SET OUT to build something like this.

I think Tabletop Simulator could do it, though I don't think you'd get fights down to that short a period.

My understanding is that Tabletop Simulator is a platform for building tabletop games. They provide the digital table... you build the game.

At which point, you're basically saying, 'Well you could code the whole thing yourself'. :]

I'd just be happy to see additional sets for the Pathfinder ACG be converted over.

I love playing RotR. But I've beaten it on all three difficulty levels, taken each character (at least once) through the entire campaign, and played both the Goblin set and Valeros' tale.

I want more. :)

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32

As an old school gamer, I'd like to see an updated version of the old SSI Gold Box games using Pathfinder instead of 1e. For those unfamiliar with it, I'm envisioning a party-based game with free world exploration, transitioning into top-down/isometric turn-based tactical combat.

I'm old and crusty enough that in my book, if the combat isn't turn-based, you're playing an action RPG, not a "pure" RPG. Skyrim and Fallout 3/4 are FPS/RPG hybrids. It's fun, but to me an RPG experience should have nothing to do with my reaction times.

Gorbacz wrote:

I get my turn based fix at the table so im all right with real time. Id like Skyrim-esque, but with pesky alignment!

Soon as I read "-Real time with turn based combat" I started to get all uppity because for years I've felt all the great games that could have been turn based/grid have instead been made turn based but Real time, but then I read the "(real time optional)" and calmed down Lol.
