Now, that's what I'm talking about! That's really putting it out there. Thanks! Glad we backed this.

Very nice update! Except I already have them. Anyone have $900 in spare change?

QFT!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My wife goes for a job interview tomorrow. If she gets the job, I'm in. If I win the lottery tonight, I'm in.

If somebody wants to give me $110 right now, I'm in.

I wish I had $900....

Know the feeling DaveMage. It took about 8 of us to scrounge up the $110!

Congrats on hitting the 75k for funding!

Publisher, Frog God Games

Whoo hoo! Thank you guys!

Yay! Funded!

Now to get on to those stretch goals!

Dark Archive

Going to add Stoneheart Valley, it's too bad that ToH4 is not offered as a print option. Maybe I can pick it up after the KS closes using the discount offer.

I'm adding Stoneheart Valley as well.

Congrats!

Nice! Gives me the chance to fill in the missing books in my Frog Shelf I am building. I should probably should set aside some cash to reinforce the furniture as well.

Curious what the Leather covered books look like?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

$20 for Tsar is the best RPG deal I have seen since I started playing D&D in the seventies.

No Skeeter, the leather versions are very sour looking! Only cus I cant afford them, lol! These are all good deals, but I have most of them already if in non-leather versions.

holy crap, $20 for the hardcover?

Edit: Ok it's the pdf that makes more sense. Still sweet though. And $95 is great for the hardcover, I might have to jump on that.

Dark Archive

Yeah it's sorta just slowly creeping now but almost the last week of the KS, hopefully get a nice little pick up. Would love to see this in full color =)

Hmm so leatherbound is the only way to get Stoneheart Valley in hardcover right?

And Sword of Air will have the artwork on the cover unless you get the leatherbound?

For some reason I really like the hardcover versions with no art, like Rappan Athuk.

No, Stoneheart Valley (PF or S&W) $29/$25 for hardcover and $10 for pdf.

Oh ok so the print version of Stoneheart Valley is a hardcover. I wasnt sure from the description here on paizo, it just says print I think.

Publisher, Frog God Games

Yup--Tsar cost us over $50/unit to make--cannot sell it at $20 in dead tree form!

Stoneheart is all hardcover

I have to decide whether its worth $50 savings to have to wait til sep 14 for my hardcover of Tsar.

I'm running Stoneheart into Rappan Athuk and/or Tsar and I have all the pdf's but need dead tree for stoneheart and tsar.

Shadow Lodge

I'm thinking of coming up with 25 aliases that will each back for $1 each. :P

That's a good idea, don't we need 450 backers for poster map? I love poster maps.

Printing costs are insane anymore. Myself I do not see the value added of internal color especially to go to thin glossy cheap paper that WoTC and Paizo uses. Give me a good solid book like Tsar or RA any day! I am using the extra copy of one of our members Razor Coast books as I am afraid to use the signed copy. I am concerned it will not hold up as well as the other two.

We need 120,000 for the poster map Grimmy. That and all the rest of the stretch goals (besides color) I think are great, but that is just me. But I am an old fart, what can I say?

Pay 25 people a dollar to pledge.

I don't care too much about color either depending on how it's done. Would it be all new art, or some kind of colorized version of the usual black and white drawings? Color can really add something, if the execution is right. If it's just ugly Wayne Reynolds art that makes the book look like a paizo clone I'll take a pass like I did on Razor Coast.

I think my RA hardcover is my favorite RPG product I've ever owned. Well, favorite RPG book at least. (I do have a thing for the old boxed sets.)

Brvheart, and Bill... Thank you both for answering my questions here, my reading comprehension is not usually so poor but something about the way information is presented in kickstarters seems to give me sensory overload. Laziness is definitely part of it, I admit it. Anyway thanks.

I also don't really care about color but the poster map.

Open Design has done some nice looking things in color. And I hear they still used the nice heavy matte paper. It can be done right.

I loved the full page color art in 2e books, mixed with not so great b&w illos that still had a certain charm. Somehow having two or three different quality standards and styles in one book helped fire my imagination a lot more then having a homogenous art direction for a whole line of products does.

Razor's Coast is excellent Grimmy, but I can understand if the setting is not your cup of tea. It is the exception for me and color and I think they did the art very well in it!

Oh don't get me wrong I'm sure Razor's Coast is sweet and I will check it out eventually, I just passed on the kickstarter, and haven't felt compelled to grab a copy since it's been available.

I haven't even seen the interior art but the cover turns me off. That and I'm not crazy about age of sail and I have a strange aversion to firearms in fantasy gaming. But I have liked Nic Logue and Lou Aggresta's stuff so much I still want to give RC a chance when the time is right.

Plus it sounds like a super novel approach with the whole site-based, non-linear plot sort of thing, that really has me intrigued.

The cover art looks much better as a jpg than it does on the cover. Though having Bethany battling a wereshark is very well themed for it IMHO. The kickstarter is a good time to pick it up at a good discount!
I will admit that generally I don't like the idea of firearms in RPGs myself, but the Age of Sail makes a good fit for it, especially the way they did it relegating it to more flavor than crunch. The weapon of choice here is the rapier!

New art. That's part of the KS costs; we have to see if we go with our b&w artists or our color artists.

Shadow Lodge

Since SoA has never been published before, I kinda assumed it would be new art. :P

Honestly, I would prefer that you have to go with B&W artists. I greatly prefer the art direction in Rappan Athuk ( I echo Grimmy that is the one finest dungeon crawls of all), Stoneheart Valley and the previous Necromancer works compared to Razor Coast and Paizo's work. I think SoA in color would be a disconnect from previous B&W works.

Sadly, I hoping this KS only makes about $99,000; not making the map is not too much of a disappointment because it is coming with Lost Land campaign setting anyway. The extra wilderness areas and player's guide are cool but not vital.

The most important goal beyond funding is the 400-backer goal to give S&W Complete away as a free-for-all. I am confident this will be made, without making extra accounts as Kthulhu suggested.

My opinion, color did make sense for Razor Coast and it was ok for for ToH4 but not for this.

P.S. Plus color PDF just bogs my iPad down, although I have successfully optimized Razor Coast to improve this. If it is done in color, a optimized light version like Paizo does should be in order.

Yeah I wasn't making a lot of sense in general last night.

Not me, the map is 90% of what I want this for!

Hmmm, that doesn't make any sense to me considering the same map is going to be in the Lost Lands campaign setting product. The adventure should be your primary reason for wanting SoA.

Unless he's not getting the Lost Land setting book.

While I have read of an impending Lost Lands campaign settings book, I have not read that these are the same maps. If the campaign information is being duplicated I would rather skip SoA and wait for the Campaign setting book.

Shadow Lodge

Also, as far as I know there isn't a timeline on the Lost Lands setting book. Is there?

GIVE IT UNTO ME ! ! !

If one has Rappan Athuk, Stoneheart Valley, Razor Coast, and Sword of Air, I find that to be an unlikely scenario; however, this is a possibility that I have overlooked.

Unless the KS starts making an average of about $2500 over the next 14 days, then it may be the only option.

The last timeline I heard was from Chuck Wright for late 2014; the only duplication would be the full map.

Well speaking only for myself the only one of those I own is Razor Coast, and the only one I'm getting from this is SoA; I don't have the spare cash to go in for any of the extra offers. So that's at least one - and I'm certain I'm not alone.

Sounds like it is worth getting both then. Still, I want the map however I have to get it. SoA won't be out until around then either.
