Over here at least they go to have those parties at night clubs instead :pAmerican college students can't do that because we pretty much have a universal drinking age of 21, and bars and night clubs check everyone's IDs -- so usually the oldest seniors go out to buy kegs of beer and bring them back to the dorms.
We also did that at my college back around 1980, but even though the drinking age for beer and wine was only 18 back then, we were in a state where selling alcoholic drinks by the individual drink was illegal. The only advantage we had over the current day was that anyone but the youngest freshmen could buy the kegs.
Wait, so you couldnt buy a beer, but could buy a 6-pack?

Yep, to discourage drinking and driving/in public.

If ever there was a case of bad timing...
Depends on how much of this AP has Edgewatch being the good guys, and how much is about rooting out corruption and stuff. I mean, I expect it has a lot more to do with investigation and infiltrating cultist lairs and stuff, but I guess how presciently it handles some of these issues might be a thing.

I mean regardless of whether focus is on fantasy crime organizations or what, there is always gonna be question of whether its okay for guards to throw fireballs

In a city like Absalom which has withstood multiple sieges, houses some of the most powerful non-good organisations in the world (e.g. the decemvirate) and literally has a god-making device in its cathedral? Fireballs are just a start of what guards should have access to.

We do know that at one point in the AP the PCs will be betrayed by corrupt members of the guard who are in the pockets of some highly-placed 1-percenter types.

Even if Paizo handles the subject matter with care, there are going to be arguments and complaints. I know they put a lot of work into it and depending on how quickly they could grind the machines of production, it might be a good idea to shelf this AP for a cycle or two and advance the next 1-2 APs in its place. The biggest issue is probably the printers and their deadline to printing something that would be available as a replacement. There probably isn’t enough time to make that happen.

Even if that were possible, and I basically guarantee it isn't, I don't think that's actually the best response. From a risk-averse, PR-focused perspective it might be, but the plan should not be to just wait until "all this blows over and things go back to normal." No one, including Paizo, should want things to go back to normal. Agents of Edgewatch can be one catalyst for talking about these issues now, in the moment, and I for one am ready to have that conversation.

Like every adventure I get to play, I look forward to playing a hero in a world of violence. It would not be the first time I've seen players deliberately issuing non lethal damage because, "If we kill them they cannot learn the error of their wrongs."
I'm really looking forward to running or playing this AP. Paizo, please dont bow to public pressure and cancel this. Stand up for the ideal of pushing back on social misconceptions. For any who would say that all law enforcement officers are evil, I ask, how many do you know?
Give us the chance to play the good guys, and show others that its possible.

For what it's worth, there's little to no public pressure to cancel this. In fact, I haven't seen a single call for it on here or reddit--maybe somewhere else has different opinions.
The bulk of folks trust Paizo, as being a thoughtful and very inclusive creator community, to not throw something really tasteless out there (though obviously this was written over a year ago, so it doesn't really have the current situation in the US to reflect on).

I really don't like the cover layout:
That smug (to me unsympathic) looking guy in the forefront and the way too thick upper & lower edge take away too much from the great looking action art piece with Lem & Sajan (which i can only guess) fighting a cockatrice!
I have an unpopular suggestion:
Loose the NPCs in the forefront and print the cover art full-page without the edges.
The "Pathfinder" and "second edition" logos at the top can stay exactly like they are without the green bar under it taking up so much Space.
The "Agents of Edgewatch" logo can move to the lower left edge and the title of the volume with writer's name needs to be reduced in size and moved to the far right corner.
A large cover illustration is much more impressive, if i compare this to the new D&D 5e adventures, Pathfinder has better art, but D&D has a far superior layout.

DnD's Adventures have very subdued or focused layouts for their covers.
For Pathfinder APs if you removed the front character, who is tied to the AP, the action scene in the background is just too messy for a cover and it wouldn't highlight and direct anyone's attention the way the title and character front and center do.
Absolutely do not need to reduce the title or author's name.

Absolutely not. Next to the title of the book, the most prominent text should be the author, IMO. The author of any creative project should always be a prominently featured aspect of the publication. Art is in the eye of the beholder so we can certainly discuss what we’d like to see changed, but there should never be a compromise made on the acknowledgement of the writer. If there was space, I’d like to see the rest of the team who worked on the book be more prominent, but due to the nature of Paizo and how many people put there hands on a project, the title page is probably the best way to acknowledge all those contributors.

I wouldn't hold anything against them if they delay this product.
I wouldn't hold it against them either but I do trust Paizo and the authors they employ to deliver a sensitive product that takes account of real world issues as best it can in a fictional fantasy setting. I would also have serious concerns about the financial impact on the company of cancelling / postponing six months of the flagship line so early in the 2E product cycle and in what are already challenging economic times.
I hope this AP is successful and that, where there are issues, they can be addressed by GMs at their tables.

Oh interesting. Wasn't expecting a cover change this close to release. Are the others getting new covers as well? Admittedly I'll be kind of sad to see the cover to the second book change, with how awesomely gruesome it is. Though it does certainly evoke a certain "OhGod, things are going to escalate QUICK in book 2" feeling, lol.

I thought only this book so far has had its actual cover revealed? The rest are just placeholders, no?

Paizo almost always has placeholder pictures with art from old books first

Yep, usually the hint usually is that the logo is not the official final one. (The one revealed with the AP)

I'am thinking upset River Drake or upset Cockatrice on the cover? Can not wait for the Players Guide of this to come out! Will try to run it one of these days!
Hopefully that makes it to us by the end of this week. Unless some gremlins got loose and stole the master file. Lil bastards! LOL!

This scene has become disturbingly more plausible in the years since the release of this film . . . .
