Firstly, she's hawt.
Second, there isn't anything about that suit that is any different from a superhero costume or the suits we see all the time in Sci-Fi and Fantasy... and those people go adventuring all the time.
More importantly, she's hawt.
Thirdly, there are plenty of Sci-Fi stories, anime, movies (and RPGs) that feature tight suits whose tightness has something to do with their protective properties, blah, blah, blah... it's all convenient enough to get somebody hawt into tight clothes, but really -- WHO CARES?! Who ARE you people? Do you really anguish this much over such silliness?
Which brings us to the most important thing of all... that being that she's most definitely hawt.

Actually, there are good reasons for a skin-tight spacesuit.
And while her pose is a bit twisty and awkward, it's clear she's in motion and likely attempting to dodge to a more advantageous position.

I actually think I'd prefer this "technological" Lirianne-look to her mythic one. Meaning, this would probably be better as a mythic look than the one she actually has (which was kind of, well, steampunk-barbie).
Yeah, this is much better. Actually looks like she's ready to throw down instead of about to walk onto a fantasy fashion show catwalk.
Also, so stoked for this book. waiting til August is gonna hurt, but such is life.

Also, love that cover.
Also also, Lirienne is firing blue lasers and red lasers and not hitting anything. Which sounds about right for those particular weapons. ;)
edit also- If Lirienne fights anything like how I played my Commander Shepard, she won't really need to hit considering she could probably just pistolwhip that guy to death.
I may have been playing that game incorrectly.

The costume looks a bit like Power Girl, except without the red and the chest window down on the abdomen. And Amiri doesn't have blonde hair, of course.

Don't worry Mikaze, that's how I ran Shepard as well. Biotic charge and a buttload of pistol whipping for the win

My only wish is that we finally get rules for making alloying djezet with steel, like Karamoss (Of Dungeons of Golarion) and First-King Xin did. Yes, it might be an epic craft check or somesuch, but there's no way that it can't be done again.
That particular thing isn't in this book, since that's more of a Red Redoubt thing than it is a Numeria thing or a generic tech thing. Also... there was not enough room to go into great detail about skymetal alloys, although they ARE mentioned briefly.

I hadn't ever considered a Barbarella barbarian archetype before. Hmmm...

Considering that djezet is really the only metal that would gain anything from being alloyed, now I'm interested in hearing about the other skymetals being alloyed to iron.

Probably the same reason a lot of workout clothing is skintight; it stays out of the way. Loose clothing can get caught on things, or be used against you by an opponent. It can also rub and chafe during extended activity. Tight material across the chest could serve the same purpose as a sports bra, which is definitely something Lirianne appears to need. That much weight bouncing around freely would be painful and distracting. Sometimes, restrictive is a good thing.
As long as it is sufficiently flexible to allow movement - and offers enough protection - skintight is actually a great choice. Other than that, I agree with many of the criticisms in this thread. The pose used is a fairly common one in fantasy and sci-fi art, and it does tend to look awkward and unrealistic unless the artist is very careful. Since the pose pretty much only exists to increase the sexualization of the character, it's usually a better choice to pick another pose rather than try to make this one work.
I still like the art, though.
To be fair, the level of definition on the breasts is a function of both tightness and flexibility of the material. The right material might actually look like that when worn at the correct tension, especially if the tension was different from area to area (some compression clothes today do this). Clearly this is some kind of futuristic material designed to support, protect, and show off the body.
But in general, yeah, it looks a bit strange, especially when combined with the pose.

Please tell me vehicles will be included, such as tanks and choppers, and please tell me that there will be animated versions of them, similar to the Animated Tack in Reign of Winter :D
Very unlikely—this is still a campaign setting book, and any material in it needs to have a place for it in our setting. "Rasputin Must Die!" was very much outside our normal areas of operation, so I would not expect any more tanks in our setting material. The hardcover RPG line is a totally separate matter, as that is intended to be as setting-neutral as possible.

Well then, we now know what to do. Those of us who enjoy the sweet taste of fantasy chocolate mixed with the salty deliciousness of sci-fi caramel need to buy this book, get our friends to buy this book, get our families to buy this book, get one random stranger to buy this book, and then do the same with the entire run of the Iron Gods AP (and also People of the Stars) so that Paizo will print an "Ultimate Technology" hardcover because of the demonstrated market for it. And that way we can have technological vehicles, more weapons, more feats, more archetypes...

Ohohoho yyyesss! See that guys and gals at the Pathfinder design team? WE NEED THAT! Our PC's have grown arrogant with their victories, even downright cocky! Now let them face cybernetic enhanced FIENDS! THEY'LL BE BEGGING FOR MERCY! ^_^
(On a completely different but still related side note: We'd better not have to rely on some damn stupid soul cubes to kill that guy in the game!)

I'm definitely interested in this product. Will it also include more "intermediary" technology, like modern firearms and vehicules? If not, I guess I can just start using Modern Path for that.
I've also got an old copy of Perpetrated Press' 'Arsenal', a sourcebook that offered a set of modern and post-modern weapons designed as technomagic, from the arcane blaster pistol to the divine vindicator autocannon, among others. I wanna know if you can enchant ultra-tech weapons, so you could have a Laser Pistol with a Merciful setting, for a stun weapon.

Malwing |

My biggest concern is access. I've seen a lot of third party technological products and higher technology seems to be limited to classes/prestige classes that revolve around it, Wizards or a truckload of feat taxes. The nature and length of this product seems to want to give new options to what already exists instead of doing anything drastic, so I might get what I've been looking for.

It focuses pretty much entirely on the technology found in Numeria; presenting a "progression" of technology from medieval to future is not the goal of the book, but the rules presented in this book will allow you to build things like that.
And yes, you can have a +1 laser pistol, and all of the implications beyond that.

Anyone can use the technological items in this book. There are other things like feats and skill uses and archetypes and a prestige class that are more limited, but that's a factor of the way those rules elements work, not technologic themes.
