These are good questions. You can definitely just go with a tux / gown if that's your preference. The adventure does seem to suggest that this is more of a costume party, despite it being also a fancy gala / masquerade. A couple of people will be wearing things like fairy or pirate costumes, cats, centurions, and mummies. It isn't to say that you'd be out of place in simply having a tux and mask - especially for those that are more reserved or "too good" for dressing up (as some of the wealthy will be), but there is certainly a lot of room if you want to go with something more... ostentatious. But! Richard, you could definitely just pick up a mask for a few bucks, and Irina, you could certainly craft your Darth Vader helmet.
Dotting! I've never played Mutants & Masterminds but have always wanted to. I have three very distinct ideas that I want to play with and see which one has the most potential. Also, question: To what extent do we need / have to worry about alter egos? Is this a "Superheroes are all over the place / accepted" thing or a "Hide who you really are" kind of thing?
Zika had never set foot in the K-Mart before, and wouldn't have now if it weren't for the fact that she was desperate - and that it was closing. She walks past a display of "As Seen on TV" junk, like a small gelatinous cube to clean the floors of your apartment. "Down with capitalism," she mutters, remembering living in the forest commune with her family not too long ago. Sometimes it felt like yesterday, other times it felt like it had happened to another person. "Now, now," A voice calls out from behind her, "You're much too young to be so cynical.... Even if you are right." Rolling her eyes, she turns up an aisle abruptly, hoping to lose the spirit following her, even though she knew it wasn't possible for her to. While he claimed to be as powerless about their attachment as she was, she wasn't sure that was really the truth. "Dad, I told you to give me space," she hisses, "I need girl stuff. It's weird having you here." A few seconds of silence pass, long enough where she starts to wonder if he has actually gone, when she hears a sigh. "I understand," his voice calls out sadly, already beginning to fade. "You're... growing up so fast. Call me when you're ready." Zika tries to push down the pang of guilt, and pretends to look through clothes until she's certain he's gone, before breaking out into almost a sprint down the aisles, knowing she wouldn't have a lot of time before he would grow bore and pop back into this realm of existence. She makes her way to the other end of the store, heading right for sporting goods. Spotting what she wants nearly immediately, she forgets the feeling of disappointing her father, and picks up the composite longbow, looking down the sight as she draws the string back. "Girl stuff," she says to herself with a grin. Composite Longbow for me, probably just a +0 based on the pricing since I likely need some armour and other minor adventuring gear, too.

The story that Wells tells of the future has Jade ponderous for quite a few moments. The entire situation was enough to make her realise how insignificant they all were. Even though she and the other Androids had the potential to live for hundreds of years, far longer than their human companions, there would come a time when they would all cease to exist. She thought that she might still be alive when Moreau was from, but it was entirely possible that she had long since expired. She realised what would have happened if Moreau had successfully stolen their ship, they could be lost in another time, and without the means to even get elsewhere. It was entirely possible that they could die on a mission, in some forgotten past. And in their absence, the worlds would keep spinning. The actions they could take in life would have a ripple effect - Their reputation years down the line, like Moreau's research, were things that would linger. What mattered, then, Jade decided, was what actions they took in their lives. And as sure as she had been about saving the owl's egg, she was equally sure that she did not want them using Moreau's research on more people. Especially suspecting that many of them did not exactly volunteer. There would always be new enemies, and new battles to fight, and there were moves that could be made that they would lose themselves in the conflict. Was biological warfare not over the line? Then again, along those same lines, was conflict not what Brass was created for? Why was it okay to create life with the intent of throwing it into war, but not okay to alter life for the same purpose? She looks at Scera, a being the same race as Vonash, perhaps even a distant descendent, but one that had had wildly different experiences from her. If Jade were to kill Moreau here, destroy his research, would it affect Scera's time? What would happen to the war Wells people were fighting, this malevolent Dark Tower. Was Moreau meant to help fight it? And if Moreau would help in that fight, if it was of the utmost importance, would it not make more sense to bring him back to her own time, so there would be even more time to build on his research? Would it make a difference if she were to go with him and trade her academics of genealogy and biology into applicable experiments alongside him? What would become of humanity if they did? When it comes to policing time, where does your jurisdiction end? Wells was the authority of his time just as she was an authority of hers. But they were both outside now, and who had priority? Going by the bigger picture, it would be Wells. And he was here for Moreau - her job was to investigate a beacon, she had done so. Wells's job was to arrest Moreau. It was simple. Was she in a position to interfere with that? And if she did, would she even be right to? If humans in the future were like them - The deceptive and self-righteous Wells, the egotistical and cold Moreau, the others, guilty of crimes she wasn't even sure of - if the other humans of their time were all like them, were they even worth saving? She longed to know what happened to the Androids, the Lashunta, the Vesk in his time. But would knowing make the decisions in front of her any easier? She shakes her head. "We should move everyone together. I believe we need to discuss our options for next steps."

I'll go Positive for mine with Maggie - as she said, we both can be energetic and outdoorsy.
My first instinct is "Pip", both for the Pippi Longstocking reference with how Maggie wears her hair, and for the early 19th century British slang of it meaning someone was "One of a kind" / stands out. Blake would likely have adopted it for the first reason when they were a bit younger. What do you think, Maggie? -- Also re: racism, I'm in agreement that it isn't worth visiting. It's something that's still prevalent enough today that it doesn't feel like it would be interesting or at all "fun" to explore. That goes for a lot of sexuality-based insults as well. Calling someone "f!~" was not uncommon then but it's also not something we really need to do. Even if no one takes genuine offense with these things, I don't think it adds anything to the game. But yeah feel free to bully me about how my Dad left and how I'm poor and (probably) dirty.

Good here, too. As they travel, Azeban ponders what it means for the goblins' development as a tribe that they still executed the traitor. While it was certainly not out of character, nor displaying a level of bloodthirst absent from other civilizations (after all, humans would likely have done the same), Azeban can't help but wonder where their path will lead. Still, it would be good to remove the influence of the Fey and let them forge their own way. Though he wouldn't be a part of it, Azeban has a sense of excitement for their future, as if standing on the cusp of an adventure. There'd be mistakes made and hardships and death, but also great opportunities for learning and growing. And after all, what else was life really for? With a smile, he looks up from Alis's shoulder and rubs his face against hers.

In the morning, Mogwai joins the prayer. While it's not to the deity he worships, he thinks it's important to be involved and present, and see if he can learn anything about the fledgling community. Diplomacy to Gather Information: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 We've only really heard about how the town is doing from Breddaric, whom Mogwai doesn't really trust. How do people seem to be doing? What's morale like? Anything to be concerned about more than the problems we've been told? After the service ends and he finishes learning what he can, Mogwai returns to his own "lodgings" to have a private prayer to Sarenrae, before following the others to the boat prison. As Breddaric gives justification for beating the Gillman, Mogwai looks at him in disbelief. "Not could beat the language into him?" He asks, dryly. "Your tongue not easy learn. Talking with fist not help." He keeps an eye on Breddaric, but as the others also come to the Gillman's defense, Mogwai nods, satisfied, and steps away from the others with a sigh of relief. He's pleased that his companions are in agreement about these things. There was too much to deal with to have to be looking after them. Breddaric alone was problematic, others seeing things the way he did... well... Mogwai was glad things weren't that way. Mogwai is already moving away when Breddaric comments about not helping their enemies, and he pauses and frowns. "Long shanks, short sight." He mutters, mostly to himself, before he continues walking. Gonna wait to see if my Gather Info bit gives me anything pressing before I dictate the rest of Mogwai's morning.

Their take on Psionics is more of the "You have a pool of power points" rather than hard spell slots, and the Path of War stuff adds a lot of martial "abilities" that make them more fun to play. I think there are things in each that would feel pretty thematic, at any rate!
I think PF can definitely work for getting the Star Wars feeling with a lot of classes, especially with adding in the Dreamscarred Press stuff and/or Spheres of Might/Magic. I would also say that I'd be very much in favour of starting at a higher level than 1, like around 3-5, to get some of the cooler abilities on the field. I'd also recommend these Feat Tax rules, or at the very least, giving everyone Point Blank Shot / Precise Shot for free, since literally every person in Star Wars knows how to shoot a blaster and it is a garbage feat tax to have in the first place.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Moments like this are why I love Mogwai. I hope someone else is ready in case this goes horribly wrong. Mogwai shakes his head at the child-creature, understanding too well how it feels to be abandoned, to be alone and lost. "No abandoning." He says softly. "We not are knowing where your daddy is... But we searching for others lost." Mogwai looks around the remains of the ship, hoping his actions cause the creature to see the place for what it is as well. "Mogwai think you know he isn't here. Come with us, maybe find him. We bring others, too." Moving closer to the creature, Mogwai holds out his hand. "No abandoning, no being alone."

"But Mogwai believe Sarenrae watch over all." And as he stands before each of the deceased, he does so straight and tall as he can be, and focuses everything he has into his words. "Lady Dawnflower," He begins, "A life has been extinguished, and with it, all the good they could do. Their hopes and dreams and fears and regrets have all gone. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 13 Gozran Mogwai watches with curiosity and excitement as the large ships are readied. He had rarely - if ever - seen anything so... majestic, though he didn't know that word and wouldn't have known quite how to describe them. So enchanted was he that he nearly boarded the wrong one. As he walks up the gangplank, he spares a single look back, his eyes searching for Kejal. It was silly, he knew - she had no idea he was here. He hadn't even seen her for years. He hoped that wherever she was, she was proud of him. And if she wasn't already, she would be. Puffing out his chest, he continues boarding the ship. At the Captain's speech, Mogwai's own feeling of pride grows. 'Destiny' was a word Kejal had used often, and it makes Mogwai feel like she's there with him. And he knows that Sarenrae is, too. Not having work to do, Mogwai settles in and immediately goes up on deck, watching the land he has known get smaller and smaller in the distance, until there is nothing but ocean on all sides. It's only now that Mogwai realises he can't swim, and hopes that nothing happens to the boat. 14 Sarenith Mogwai peers into the pot, his large ears folded downward in front of him, wafting the smell closer to his nose. "Mogwai not understand." He says, peering up at the Orc in front of him, his nose wrinkled. "Why Azeban make more stew? Mogwai sick of stew." Laughter rumbles from the Orc, deep but quiet - as he knows it's not something he should be doing. "Well, little Mogwai," He replies, waiting for the goblin to look up, before spreading his arms around the small kitchen, and the lack of ingredients within. "As you can see, we don't have much else to work with." Mogwai's ears droop, remembering how much better they'd eaten the first few days. "Will there be good food there?" He asks. Azeban shrugs. "If the gods will it. I'm sure we'll make do in any case." He smiles, but not happily this time. "We always do." Nodding, Mogwai jumps down from the table. He opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by shouts from above about land. His ears perking up, Mogwai's mouth opens into a huge grin, displaying far too many teeth, all seemingly going in multiple directions at once. "Land!" He repeats with excitement. Dashing from the room, he scurries up on deck. Pausing a second to check for Azeban behind him, Mogwai remembers that he's not allowed, and frowns. 'Everyone should be allowed to see land after months at sea.' he decides. The deck fills up with more and more people hoping to see it, and after a few moments Mogwai's own vision is obscured by the larger bodies and he finds himself unable to see land, doubling down on his previous decision. Mogwai begins jumping up and down, trying to see over the shoulders of some of the others. He catches glimpses of some things on the island itself - stormclouds, a green glow, but he doesn't understand what they mean.

Looking around as the others arrive, she can't help but notice the tiny lizard creatures, nor the large cat that accompanies Nero. "Pet friendly bunch, aren't we?" She mutters. Noticing that the other animals have an aversion to Black Phillip, who only stands and stares, she wonders for a moment why she doesn't have a more... lively animal accompanying her. She shakes her head. No. Phillip was right for her. He was solid, stoic, taking everything in stride. She heard once that goats could eat anything, even human bones. She shudders at the thought, wondering if that's something Black Phillip would do. 'The important thing,' she thinks, trying to get her mind away from the topic, 'is that he can handle anything.'

Yeah, reset strain - You all had plenty of time to chill and relax with Chopper. Also, a note since Tibs found the balcony - it's good to remember that you have Destiny Points that can be spent on things. Destiny Points represent the balance between the light and dark sides of the force. So when you use one, I gain another, and vice versa. Each side currently has 3, which are noted at the top of the Campaign tab thing. Definitely use them, they can be a huge help for things. Here are some examples of what you can use them on:
I bring this up now both because I'm trying to introduce some systems slowly, and also because if you did want to go in via the Terrace, you could "deus ex machina" to have some climbing tools / equipment. The logic is that you had it on hand for the earlier part of the job (the Black Sun facility)

I forgot to mention earlier, but if you're doing an unprompted roll and you're not sure, let's assume Average difficulty (2d8). If you think it's more or less but aren't sure how much, don't be afraid to ask. I'm hoping it'll speed things up a bit for more "common" things. And I think you'll also get a good benchmark for the difficulty of things after a few encounters, which may also help with predictions. I'm mostly trying to keep the sense of randomness and danger, without making checks take twice as long. Ordinarily in Edge of the Empire when around a table, it's "I want to do x", "k the difficulty is y". And combat in PBP tends to take long enough without that kind of back and forth with every roll. In circumstances where there are things that are sort of "predetermined" to exist, I'll try to do the standard [.spoiler=DC 2 Success] kind of thing.
I'm still getting some questions together and waiting for a couple of check-ins and votes on Captain, but I wanted to share something. I made a Google Chrome extension for an older Star Wars game and I just updated it for this one. Basically it replaces the Paizo avatars with the images of characters that you actually chose for yourself. If you want to use it, just install it, and it should work peachy. (It obviously requires Google Chrome). There's an image in the description to give an idea of how it looks!
@Rungok - Just wanted to say thanks again, Feral Hunter looks to fit with Warpriest absolutely perfectly and I'm pretty happy with how the character is coming together. Just largely need to finish the backstory and I should be good! DM Forgedawn wrote: I didn't realize you were going something other than draconic exemplar, which is why I suggested the focus on what would be your 5 natural attacks. Ah yeah, I should have been more clear - as much as I love the idea of being a dragon, I'm more into the cat-like pseudodragon than growing to be enormous. Admittedly in part because I like the deception of looking like a cute little pet but being more than capable of murder.
I'm up in the air about submitting one, but I was interested in the concept so I statted up a conversion of the Diopsid, if anyone wants to use it.
