About Perdita VernisantMartella Lotheed (Campaign Intro):
Lady Martella has invited Perdita Vernisant to The Exaltation Gala because she has heard of Maxillar Pythareus' attack on the young Aasimar noble for being devout to Sarenrae -- something the conservative Imperialists vitriolically oppose. Lotheed first took notice of Perdita when the 18-year-old arrived in Oppara (from Merciful Bay) several months ago to continue her studies at The First Imperialist Arcanist's Guild, for young Pedita Vernisant immediately showed remarkable wizardry & investigative potential.
While not a member of The Loyalists, Perdita Vernisant is a reformer. Her political ambitions, though, seem to be more inspired by her Peri father, a Warpriest of Sarenrae. Perdita seems to want to promote
Personality:
Perdita (Purr DEE' sha) Vernisant is confident and forward; she is well educated and knowledgeable. She is a natural Diplomat and is adept at gathering information. She knows her reverence for Sarenrae is unpopular and that proselytizing for The Dawnflower can be foolish, so she'd rather play the long game, subtlety, guile and innuendo. She is brilliant at Bluffing her way to information and thinking of gambits in social situations that manipulate others into giving her information she seeks. Her specialty is bluffing her enemies into believing she is on their side. But she is also keenly aware of how vulnerable she is as a young, female wizard and sage, and at how many enemies she could have as a minor noble and devotee of Sarenrae -- thus, she is eager to make allies and contacts. Perdita also knows that to bring about change in Taldor such as she would like, she'll have to play both the politics game and get her hands dirty doing work the hard way.
Background:
Perdita Vernisant is a Peri-born Aasimar and distant cousin of Earl Calhadion Vernisant. Raised in Merciful Bay, 18 year old Perdita has only recently come to Oppara to build political power, fulfill her arcane potential (at the best wizard college in Taldor), and make a claim for herself in House Vernisant.
Perdita knows she has a prodigious challenge, first at being a daughter rather than a son, and then being only a second cousin once removed, on her mother’s side, of House Vernisant. But she believes in her intellectual potential and, more importantly, feels she has a destiny, for her father was a Peri Warpriest of Sarenrae, who fought alongside General Arnisant and Iomedae of Aroden in The Shining Crusade against The Whispering Tyrant. And recently, after crusading against Yath in The Worldwound, came briefly to Taldor in an effort to bring back worship to The Dawnflower. Perdita Vernisant is his legacy. In the year 3826 AR the Peri Warpriest of Sarenrae, King Leontes, was sent by The Dawnflower to aid Taldane Clerics of Sarenrae at the close of The Shining Crusade. King Leontes fought for Taldor alongside Iomedae of Aroden, General Arnisant, and the Knights of Ozem, against the hordes of The Whispering Tyrant. Killed in the battle moments before the Shield of Aroden was sundered (a fragment of which mortally wounded Tar Baphon) Leontes' fiery angelic form was cast back to Everlight. It was only recently that Leontes was powerful enough to return to Golarion as a ray of Sarenrae's power -- this time to The Worldwound where he aided in the war against Yath. Following his crusading in The Worldwound, Leontes was disturbed to learn that the descendants of his comrades in arms during The Shining Crusade had made the teachings of Sarenrae illegal in Taldor. He had fought alongside many Clerics of Sarenrae against The Whispering Tyrant and wanted redeem Taldor for Sarenrae. Traveling to Taldor he found Hermione Vernisant, a distant descendant of General Arnisant. She was a quiet daughter of an unremarkable branch of House Vernisant -- but Leontes saw honorable traits in the lady and took her as a wife, posing as a Taldane soldier returning from The Worldwound. To Hermione he told the truth, teaching her of The Dawnflower and redeeming her in Sarenrae's light. The two moved from Oppara to Merciful Bay, where several Angels of Light are revered, all the more easy for Hermione to practice worship of Sarenrae. But Leontes' duration on Golarion was to expire soon, and his responsibilities for Sarenrae, campaigns in Hell, Abaddon and the Abyss, could wait no longer. Perdita was just past four years old when her father returned to Everlight. Perdita Vernisant has already encountered dramatic obstacles in Oppara. Though her meticulous nature and intellectual strength propelled her far in her few months in Oppara, potential political rivals have taken notice, and none other than Maxillar Pythareus has disgraced her, publicly uncovering her devotion to Sarenrae. Nonetheless, she has quickly become a Senatorial Hopeful and adapted to life in Oppara immediately, as a true child of Oppara would. House Vernisant has taken notice, and she is now a Noble Scion on their behalf. Defense:
