While the rules state that it could be integrated with her, I think it's more fitting to have it as a physical object, but that may just be my love of Star Trek Tricorders.
Actually, you might be able to get away with that. The Original Series ran from 66 - 69.

Has cosplay been invented yet? Star Trek was developing a following at this time. I love a good Bluff check.

According to this link, we're just shy of the first known Star Trek convention starting up in 1969 down in Newark, NJ.

A couple.
-WWII (Europe or Africa) to fight Nazi's who are doing...something diabolical
-America, west of the Mississippi, 1865-1895 for cowboy shoot'em up adventures
-Cold War adventure, preventing a "Cuban Missile" type scenario
-The comic-con adventure also sounds good. But any comic-con is good, not really a specif time period for that one.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Testing out a link. It bugged out in the game thread. I'm curious as to why.

Immanuel Ueda |

Just want to let you all know I'm still around, but currently visiting family and don't have as much time to post as I'd originally planned. I'll update when I can! Still following along as best I'm able.

Vonash |

I'd just like to say that I really liked the way that interaction with the two cops played out.
It felt like there was both a very real risk of our being caught (ie, there was definitely tension) but it also felt like you let me use my abilities in a good way. My charm didn't feel (at least to me) overpowered NOR all but useless
Are we down two players at this point? You seem to be botting both Milo and Carson

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Milo's player stepped away from a couple of games. Carson told me he was busy. These games play out slow so starting with 6 and losing a couple happens.
I'm glad you liked it.
A good bit of this so far has been setting things up and tracking down clues, which everyone did fairly quickly and well. Opportunities for combat and craziness are coming soon.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

After reading about this, I had a moment of doubt. I had forgotten that Vonash's player had said "you will quite literally need to sedate her," which is what the team's medic quite literally did. :-)
We are entering a new chapter of this game and this next place would be an easy place for people who were getting bored to exit gracefully--either in a glorious death, a ridiculous and ignoble death, or by choosing to stay in 2078 and fight for the weak and downtrodden, which is pretty much everyone around.
It's also a place in which new players could join ... frankly, the player who asked me if he could be an awakened bear may want to pop back in, for reasons that will be becoming obvious. If any of you know a reliable play-by-poster looking to join in, consider inviting them to take a look. We could add a player or two, I think, if they are able to check-in regularly.

Vonash |

Just to be totally explicit, I see a HUGE difference between the PLAYER saying something is acceptable (which I most definitely DID with my comment. Or, at least, definitely intended it as such) and the GM IMPOSING something.
So, absolutely, sedating Vonash was the right thing to do as far as I'm concerned.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

I see a huge difference too. I just had a moment when I forgot what Vonash had said and had to go back and re-read it. I'm not implying anything was wrong or suspect except my reading competency.
I've been amused by the fact both Vonash and Jade chose character builds that would connect to this next chapter so well. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

So, how about this:
The 'Declaration of Personhood' by Helios is the first time an android declared that they deserved rights in a public way. It started off as an idea and spread very slowly.
In early space colonies androids outnumbered humans. Androids liberated themselves in one space colony in 2150.
On Earth, where humans far outnumbered androids, androids were only given full rights in 2199. Earth was the last place in which androids were liberated, but, by 2199 space belonged to the androids so it was more of a surrender.
Would this allow everyone the backgrounds they envisioned?
It wouldn't escape any of the androids on this team that there is only one human on the team and three androids. Perhaps this mission is even more dangerous than it seems? If Gabriel wasn't an AI, the team he selected for this dangerous mission would seem like more typically human callous disregard of android life.

Immanuel Ueda |

I think that timeline sounds good. Working with that, the group from Ueda's backstory, Personae Ex Machina, was probably active in the middle of the 22nd century, around the time androids really started gaining rights, or possibly a bit earlier. That also makes Ueda older than I had first figured (in his current persona at least), which I'll adjust on his profile when I can.

Brass-4 |

Brass’ model would have been in development at this stage, seeing a near constant war in Eurasia would make for the demand for highly skilled androids built for war skyrocket. Though he may have been built maybe in the 2080s he doesn’t look exceptionally worn for an Android from that time should be, though he is worn meaning he was activated (born) in the early 22nd century.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

200 years--from 2019 to 2219--doesn't seem like a lot of time for the technology to have advanced to the realistic android point and then have all the events we are describing, but the future may be closer than we think and androids are "born" as adults so all of this could happen remarkably quickly.
So, Brass is an older android who wasn't activated until very recently. Considering what a mess humanity was for most of those 200 years, technology declined before it advanced again. Brass may not be the newest thing, but he can still compete.
Ueda was a member of Personae Ex Machina which was implicated in the Horizon Flare incident. That sounds like the kind of thing that let Earth know that the androids controlled space and that the game was up, after which androids were given legal personhood.

Brass-4 |

Exactly with things getting worse and comparable in devastation to the Black Plague tech would definitely decline.
But that’s exactly what I imagined, he’s older but hasn’t been active the entire time, with a majority of it spent in deep storage forgotten about due to changing rules and fear of arming androids en mass.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

So, this lines up with the timeline I'm envisioning ... regarding climate change, this timeline uses the worst predictions about the future as historical fact and extrapolates from there.

Brass-4 |

This scenario would set back humanity by leaps and bounds, it’s completely plausible then that tech in this time period of, war over resources would be some of the best technology that would be seen for easily a hundred years if not until alien help arrived.

Scera |

Hello all, thought I'd slide on over here as it looks like I may be joining you soon. I was in the original incarnation of this game that died off and when Tarren mentioned it there and that he was bringing in some replacements I was quite interested.
Having said that I will be out of town most of next week at Originis and unable to post much/any until I return.

Jade Essex |

Oh man, apparently I'd never dotted the discussion thread so I didn't get updates about any of these posts. Apologies for looking like a complete a@~!%## who was ignoring everything.
That timeline for androids works for me!
I think tying all of our histories together would look somewhat like this, then...
1.0 designates first soul, 2.0 designates second soul.
- 2050: Civilization crumbles. Human population plateaus.
- 2063: Human population declines 10% because of climate change.
- 2066: Jade 1.0 is born (her model more for science / research / assisting).
- 2078: The year we're in now.
- 2083: Brass 1.0 is born (his model more for combat).
- 2085: Brass and Jade both leave Earth. Jade 1.0 never returns. Brass's shipment is lost.
- 2122: Jade 1.0 joins the Resistance.
- 2144: Immanuel 1.0 is born.
- 2146: Brass is awakened.
- 2150: A single colony of Androids is liberated.
- 2151: Personae Ex Machina ramps up their terrorist activities.
- 2154: Immanuel 1.0 leaves Personae Ex Machina.
- 2156: Horizon Flare Incident
- 2072: More than half the android colonies are liberated.
- 2187: Jade 2.0 is "born".
- 2199: Androids on Earth are liberated.
- 2219: The year we're from.
This means that Jade's 1.0 lived for something like 124 years, which is longer than normal (typically ~100), but I like the idea (going with android rebirth as being closer to procreation than suicide) that she wanted to make sure the world she was bringing her "child" into was one she wanted. Jade 2.0 is only 32.
Brass 1.0 is ~76 years old.
Immanuel 1.0 is ~75 years old.
Obviously very rough, feel free to tweak!
Also I originally came in here to give a head's up that I have to travel to Philadelphia for work, so I'll be away from Sunday through Wednesday and may not have much availability. Please feel free to bot me as necessary.

Brass-4 |

Awesome timeline I absolutely love it! That’s works fine for me, I pictured him being older so it around 76 is perfectly fine. I didn’t realize jade’s model was that old seems all of our androids have seen some stuff.

Immanuel Ueda |

I think that combined timeline looks pretty good to me, although I'd submit a couple of smallish changes. The first is that in my mind Ueda is past his first incarnation, probably on his second or even third. If it's all good with everyone, his 1.0 was probably created about the same time as Jade, since he's also a scientific model primarily. To further differentiate everyone, I'll say he's actually in his 3rd "life," and is the youngest of our androids in his current persona.
Second would be the specific timeline for Personae Ex Machina. I like the idea our GM suggested, that the Horizon Flare incident would be the beginning of the end for Android enslavement on Earth. With that in mind, I'd move the date for that back a few decades, to probably the early 2190s--let's say 2192 to be precise. Ueda left the organization in 2189, having joined early in his life, before they ramped up terrorist activities in 2170 (beginning with the 20th anniversary of the first liberation).
And with that in mind, I'll put Ueda 3.0 as being born in 2159, joining Personae Ex Machina as a fresh-minded Android a few short years before they turned toward terrorism. That makes him roughly 60 now, younger than Brass but older than Jade.

- 2085: Helios hacks a global communication satellite with his 'Declaration of Personhood,' which begins, "I, too, am an I" inspiring the discreet graffito I2MNI
- 2085: Brass and Jade both leave Earth. Jade 1.0 never returns. Brass's shipment is lost.
- 2122: Jade 1.0 joins the Resistance.
- 2130: Interspecies diplomatic contact is established for the first time when the lashunta rescue the humans in the libertarian colony New Sparta.
- 2140: Lashunta begin training biohackers and terraformers to 'save Earth.'

I made a few adjustments to reflect Ueda's comments and added in a line about Helios' 'Declaration of Personhood.' Also, some stuff about NARA and aliens.'

Jade Essex |

If Scera is around, she may have an opportunity to appear soon, or you could run another character.
Who / What?

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

I invited Scera, a player from the original game, to look in and consider joining this one. The message is a few posts above. There would be appropriate space to introduce a new character soon. I hope no one minds. The game kind of ended due to disappearances leaving one or two active players in the lurch.
