Kinda assumed that. You do NOT seem like the kind of dick GM that would kill a PC like that otherwise :-)

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Made it back from vacation safe and sound just let me know when you are ready for me.
Okay ... there are a couple of ways to bring Scera in as a character, but that may take a while.
Last we heard from Scera, Gabriel had sent her out into the Shuffle. The problem with timelines changing, is that some thing can happen in one timeline and then again in another. Gabriel may have sent Scera and crew into the Shuffle but, the timeline shifted as he was doing it, and Scera alone made it ... alone in a TAROT ship but without the rest of the crew as they didn't exist in the new timeline. Something like that.
Or, we can put Scera in the other crashed ship the players haven't looked at yet (that changes Scera's backstory more).
Or, you can play another character that we haven't met yet. One of Moreau's people or another timecop stuck in the Temporal Enforcer.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Since your backstory has you escaping from a Vesk ship, I will put you in an escape pod with vesk writing on it. The last thing Scera would remember would be getting into that escape pod to escape a ship. How that escape pod ended up in the Shuffle will be left unexplained. The Temporal Enforcer found it in the Shuffle and brought it here.

Vonash |

I just realized that I'm confused.
What IS the future history wrt Vesk from our point of view? We're from a different universe than the Starfinder one so they presumably did not invade Absolon station, fight the Hive, etc.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

I was thinking the vesk and humans have encountered each other and there may even have been some skirmishes, but they're still isn't much of a history to speak of. Brass has fought some battles all over and says he's fought against Vesk at some point, but it could have just been mercenary work.
Given that Scera was found in the Shuffle though, we don't know if she is from the present, the past, or an alternate timeline. She could have entered the Shuffle from the distant future and been drifting back in time.

Brass-4 |

I just assumed that over the years he might have encountered vesk working as a mercenary and with human and vesk skirmishes but no outright war people would want some way to try and get things done without it causing a major war.
Vesk i assume might not use mercenaries to do their dirty work with their sense of honor.

In another play-by-posts, the players said that it is faster if the GM rolls initiative for the players when it is time to so as to speed things up.
Would you prefer that?
Would you be okay with one initiative roll for all the players that you add your bonuses to and a second one for the villain(s)?

Jade Essex |

I prefer the GM rolling everyone's initiatives in one post, because it gives us an idea of who is going before/after whom. If we roll our own initiatives as part of our actions, it isn't always clear what has already happened, and if we roll our own initiatives separately before our actions, it slows things down.

That sounds good to me. Although, of course, as a resident peacenik I think that we should never roll initiative :-) :-) :-) (just kidding, on the off chance that wasn't 100% obvious)

It was obvious you were kidding, Vonash, but, while we are on the subject:
There is not a ton of combat in this scenario. There could have been. At first, you were bound by the desire not to shoot up the timeline and so you didn't. There was a very real chance you would have had to fight US Air Force to get your ship back, but you didn't mess around and got down to business. One day partying in the 60s and the Air Force was going to be all over your ship.
Things could have gotten messy with Moreau's crew, but some lucky dice rolls allowed you to win that one. For those built for combat, more combat opportunities will probably come, especially when your hands are less tied to timeline preservation.

Brass-4 |

Seems fair, I mean with a group of androids there won’t be too much partying going on I would assume. Hopefully when the more combat comes along we won’t have any more casualties though haha.

Immanuel Ueda |

Apologies for my lack of posting followed by a wall of text. I'd been away and was considering how Ueda would respond to the developments, and it just sort of kept going.
Also, I took the liberty of assuming he would know Frankenstein. It strikes me as the sort of thing any android philosopher worth their salt would be familiar with, what with the whole question of creating new life angle. It might even be a common point of knowledge for most androids, if only in passing.

All the NPCs are currently tied up and elsewhere, so I don't have anything to add other than I'm enjoying the philosophical discussions. I'm looking forward to hearing what you decide to do. I've got ideas on a dozen different things that could happen next, but ever since Brass managed to get onto the Chariot before Moreau stole it, I haven't known where this would end up going and that's kind of fun.
I am sure Ueda would know Frankenstein. I'd imagine it would have been referenced during the android uprising too.

Stuff like this is the reason I love PBP. And yeah, I also legitimately have no idea what we're going to do, which is another thing that I love about PBP.

Brass-4 |

Glad I could throw a wrench into things, I’m surprised things went as well as they did on the chariot. But I’m really enjoying the philosophical aspects into the game it makes for an interesting stuff.

Immanuel Ueda |

I'm glad people are enjoying it! I've been trying the whole game to play up Ueda's cold side, as he's a very pragmatic and logical thinker, despite his interest--even passion--for pursuits like ethical philosophy. And bearing in mind that he's done some very not-so-nice things in the past, a big part of that is a willingness to do what needs done. His "tools are tools" comment applies as much to people as objects.
And yeah, I'm enjoying this game a lot! Definitely not what I first imagined signing up, and that's a great thing. (I figured more straightforward sci-fi investigating and shooting.)

Vonash |

I'll chime in with the "great game" praise :-) :-)
Its also moving quite quickly which is very important to keep up interest

Jade Essex |

I'll have a bigger post up tonight, but...
"I believe the human phrase is that he has 'created his bed'."
"They may have been dealt, what’s the saying, bad dice?"
...I just love that we're making "androids misquoting human phrases" a thing.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Me too. Who is going to correct them? No humans alive on this crew and Kitty, Griffin, and Barry come from hundreds of years in the future. They're probably like "Maybe that's the old way to say it."
Of course, if you do go back in the past again, misquoting human phrases could be what happens when you fail at passing as human.

Immanuel Ueda |

Hmm. I'm not sure I entirely appreciate the implications of this chapter's title, and the ominous description of the landing pad on our arrival.
Oh well! Wouldn't be time travel without shenanigans.
At 2nd level, Ueda gets a Mechanic Trick, and I'm going to grab Overclocking. A number of others are useful and potentially fitting, but right now he's primarily interested in reacting faster in order to stay alive.
Also, I don't recall: are we rolling for HP, or taking average/average+1?
