Everyone but Vigil:

You wonder how up-to-date the scribe's Data are, considering this mining town was a central element in the line for probably a long time.

Which means artillery duels, tanks, trencheworks and all the destruction that comes with that.

Huh, I've been summoned!
(I am running said Only War campaign, although we are currently quite slow because my free time is basically non-existing currently due two two kids and a house project but we're determined to keep going).

If anyone is interested in Only War (maybe, eventually Dark Heresy) game with a HEAVILY modified OnlyWar system, shoot me a PM (or reply here) and I'll add you to my list of lads ready to fill open slots.
Be warned that I absolutely love tinkering with TTRPG rule-sets and am actually in the progress of writing my own (unofficial, obviously) 40k system I fully intent to eventually switch over to, so there is that.

We are down to currently 4 effective, with an additional one I keep boting for a while longer before retiring him.

I'll absolutely try to follow this one and lurk around, since I certainly should not apply with my lack of time at this point of time.

Heh, I'm very in-between.
I really like discord for its availability and responsiveness so I moved all OOC, QA, time/character/loot/NPC/round tracking, character-DM secret talk(s) and yes even rolling over to my own discord server enriched with a couple bots, but the actual IC posts still happen here.

I like the fact that the campaign is public and I have read a good few numbers of other people's campaigns on this forum and had a blast, so in a way this is me ... contributing back, so to say?

One thing however... Searching on paizo is a pita compared to ... practically any other place I can think of, at least for me. If you don't have a very good and unique search in mind ... I feel you're better of going through the pages yourself than to use the search - urgh

For me, having a shared discord channel (text-only) for player discussion, Gm Announcements and even just off-topic barter has really helped knitting the players together and we managed to steer through many obstacles since starting.

Other than that, if YOU as the GM have fun and are motivated to keep going, KEEP GOING. This will attract players to your game(s) better than anything and after a couple of re-recruitments you will most likely have a very dedicated player base.
Does it take energy? It sure does.
But "this is the way".

A lot of great advice in here!
Let me add a few pieces to the excellent post above me.

to 4) Hell yes, this is the most important thing. I actually use a discord (text-only) server for the players and me to discuss. Because it is so much faster and accessible than the forum. It is very lively in there (advice: have a few different channels, like: off-topic, q/a, player discussion) and really helps to keep the group together.
I have a year-long running 40k gae running in this forum and we managed to get over several player losses, a handful of multi-week breaks and other things that may very well could have meant the end of the game.

5+6) YES. This is very important. Limit back-and-forth as much as possible and try to enable all players to be active at any time. Either they wait for you resolving things or they should be up. But never should they have to wait until another player does something, because that creates a posting jam.
Plus, as a player, I really like to be able and resolve my action completely as that will allow me to properly write a fluff post, rather than have a single, repetetive line of "and then I tried to hit the goblin for the fifth time in a row *dice roll*"

Out from his cover, Simmins brings the business end of the melta around and onto the big, limping target and presses the trigger.
A blinding flash of superheated air burns into everyones retinas - and right into the center mass of the construct.
The already cracked and scared armor of the target is no match for this assault of thermal energy and fails to protect the more delicate insides of the man-machine.
The melta blast melts a forty centimeter wide hole right through the chest and the surrounding area is all molten and scorched beyond recognition.
The hulking Servitor tumbles forward and crashes down the stairs, forcing Anatoly to make a quick side-step to not get buried beneath it.

Anatoly:

You get inside quickly and find your noospere nearly spiked by the sheer amount of data ghosts and free-roaming noosperic fragments in here.
Truly it must have once been a data vault of incredible value.
Even now, years after its fall, the machine spirits of this room still fight to repel the intruding scrap code tendrils bearing down from the ceiling.
Five of the twelve corridors, framed top to bottom with rows upon rows of cogitators and memory machines, are yet resisting the invading tendrils, while the other seven are bleeding corrupted data into the local noosphere in the organic rhythm of the blood red lighting.

The two remaining servitors are frozen in place, their arms lowered their heads lowered to the point of being barely within reach of a normal-sized person.

And just as a side-note - a lot of stuff that is getting asked is either part of later books (e.g. background skills from PF Unchained, LOTS of classes) or widely-used and highly regarded house rules (e.g. feat taxes).
If you are new to GMing PF, I would highly advise you to clearly state [CORE ONLY], meaning that you will only work with the core rules.
That will eliminate pretty much any question, beside maybe how health and money is decided on character creation.
-
Other than that, starting to GM with PbP here on the forum is a wonderful thing.
Lots of really great and helpful players.
I also found that GMing PbP has the VERY neat benefit of giving you more time to think and prepare compared to a live session.
If I had more time, I'd throw my hat into the ring, but alas I can only say: good luck!

As 'puppet' repeatedly speaks up on its own, Simon carefully approaches it from behind, sniffing the air with eyes fixed on the puppet. Once he gets close, he is feeling about the puppet as if searching for invisible strings.
Emily can be seen to keep as much distance as possible from puppet, eying it ... sceptically?

Ghoran Gestalt Synthesist 8 / Holy Tactician 4, Tree-Soul Oracle of Life 4

With the first light of the next day, consciousness comes and takes root in the newly grown body.
Young-yet-century-old eyes open and Quercus Thousandborn takes the first breath of his newest incarnation.
I am in the garden of Kelksiomedes.
I can feel our tree breathing nearby.
I should thank him for the honor to regrow in his temple-garden.

Flexing his arms and legs for the very first time, Quercus steps out of the nutritious ground.
Looking around, he notices the many different tracks criss-crossing the garden surrounding him.
Some deep, some shallow. Some from booted feet, some from bare-footed priests.
Recollection dawns in his mind.
A deja-vu from the very last moments of his previous life.
There is Lady Zal talking with the hero-god himself and some advisors.
Then the Lady again, talking with Miss Minara and ... a large feline person that is new to him.
Talk about a new task in the never-ending journey to protect Iblydos from the darkness that tries to swallow everything.
An intense feeling of relief and dept washes up in him towards the Lady, the Spear-Fightress and even the unknown feline.
While memory of what exactly transpired is cloaked in shadows, Quercus is sure that these three did him a great favor during his last cycle.
Whatever the cause may be, Quercus would not be found wanting.
But first things first. Time to thank the hero-god and visit the golden tree and refresh my oath.
***
Cold rage.
Clenched fist made of ironwood.
Leaf-color a flashing red.
Oh in the name of Kelksiomedes:
What happened to my garden?
And where are you my beloved Leshys?

<<< Three days thereafter >>>
The tall frame of the Thousandborn comes early to the estate of Lady Zal-Azra Qlin-Zra.
He does not wear any armor (or any clothing in the traditional sense for that matter) and no visibly weaponry, unless you would count the ironwood walking cane as one.
To the discerning eye, several (most likely magical) trinkets can be seen on his body.
They do not look as if worn but rather as if a tree has grown around said artifacts, incorporating them into the plants body.
The ghoran will make for the main entrance and knock if he is not already awaited by servants (which I kinda assume giving her status).

Hi there again folks,

this is the follow up post for my previous post for android.
In essence, I'd like to share my current PbP-post-composing setup, that greatly speeds up my pbp post time (and thus allows me to do more pbp gaming with less free time).
Opposed to the Android-Guide, this one will focus on the usage of snippet/macros even more, because they are the reason for the great speed up.
Just using an external editor (as opposed to typing your entire post in the browser window) is easy enough to do on PC - and I highly recommend doing so, as that will save you from any random paizo.com crashes that will omnomnom your 10000 character post and induce high level of RAGE in you :-)

So, without any more preamble, let me show you a magic trick.
1) Download and extract the portable version, including my pre-made Paizo snippets.
1b) What is a portable version? It's a program you can have anywhere on your pc (or even a usb-drive) which runs without a installation. Handy if your cooperation does allow you to install stuff or your often switching PCs. Just put the folder on a usb-drive and always have your program with you.
2) Run sublime_text.exe (it is inside the extracted folder).
3) Start typing your post and enjoy a couple of basic paizo-snippets* out of the box!

At this point, some of you may be like:
"Uh, I don't feel comfortable executing an *.exe from some stranger in the Internet."
Upon which I'd answer:
"Good job, you learned your lesson well, young padawan.
Now that you resisted the fast path that leads to the dark side, let me show you the true way."

The longer, more secure way:

1a) Download and Install from the original source Sublime Text (currently version 3).
1b) Download the snippets and settings from here.
1c) Extract the content to: c:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 3\Packages\User\
1d) If the above folder is not visible for you, google "how to display hidden folder in windows" then try again. (AppData folder is hidden by default - which is retarded, but whatever)
2) Start Sublime Text (from start menu / desktop)
3) Start typing your post and enjoy a couple of basic paizo-snippets* out of the box!

How does snippets work:

(Let's use the basic 'say' snippet for an example)
- You can try it out! Just start typing say and you'll see a pop-up appearing.
- You can select the snippet you want to use with the up/down keys from the pop-up list
- Press the tab key to 'expand' the snippet. You will see the keyword disappearing and the familiar paizo-bracket-tags appearing.
- Most snippets also have 'fields'. That is, they have one or several input parameters where you can add additional stuff inside the snippet. In our example, you want to add whatever your character is actually saying within the "". Some of the more advanced snippets (like dice rolling) have several fields (e.g. one for the Name-tag of the dice expression and one for the d20 modifier). In those cases, you can jump between fields by pressing tab. If you don't want to use a field (e.g. because there are no modifiers to your roll), simply press delete once you jumped to the field.
- That's it!

*Basic Paizo-snippets / Keywords I prepared and shared:
say => "Talking"
think => Inner Monologue
shout => "Shouting"
ooc => Out of character talk
spoiler =>

No Sneaking!:
You sneaked in!

roll => Skill Check DC10: 1d20 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + (5) = 17

Still want to see more magic:

Of course you do!
Now, those snippets above will speed you up quite a bit, as they will solve the issue of typing all those brackets and remember to close them at the end.
But, you still have to type out your attacks, saves and all that complex stuff that is always the same (bar after a level-up and a few short-term modifiers).
So, let me introduce you to character macros!
In my other post, I used my Zen Archer Amari for examples, so he will serve the same role again.
Let me tell you what macros I have for him.
amariSingleAttack => Single Arrow away!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24Arrow Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
amariFlurry => Flurry Attack #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18Damage #1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9Flurry Attack #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19Damage #2: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
amariKiFlurry => Flurry Attack #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26Damage #1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12Flurry Attack #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23Damage #2: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5Ki Extra Attack #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11Damage #3: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
amariFort => Fortitide Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
amariRefl => Reflex Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
amariWill => Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
And each one of them has a field behind the constant modifier, to quickly add circumstantial modifiers on the fly.
***
Even more useful, you can have group snippets.
Being a nasty GM you just hit the entire party with a surprise illusion?
Just use a groupWillSave snippet and go on describing the horrors that suddenly appear all around them without having to double and triple check all those modifiers of all six characters!
***
Intrigued?
Have a look into the character_macros folder (came together with the download).
I added a couple of basic character macros in there.
Create a new folder for your character and copy the snippet you'd like to use over.
Open them (e.g. with sublime text) and enter your basic modifiers where asked for (usually: BaseModifier).
Replace the text inside the <tabTrigger>BlaBla</tabTrigger> block with some keyword you'd like to use for your character.
E.g. I use the name of the character as a prefix as you can see above, to make it easy to access all snippets of a character by just starting to type the name and see what the auto-completion pop-up window finds. E.g. if I start typing amari, it will show me a all my Amari snippets.

Want to get rid of Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V ?:

There is a browser extension called "Edit with Sublime Text" that lets you edit browser field with sublime text editor.
As soon as you save your sublime text, whatever you entered will be auto-magically transfered to the browser text window.
Install the Extension and follow the install instruction (downloading a zip and execturing a .bat file).
It may not work with portable edition, I did not try that out though.
Once installed, you can just right-click into the paizo post edit field and select "Edit with SublimeText" and it should open a new sublime text edit window.
Just start typing and save (Ctrl-S) whenever you feel like it (e.g. to preview a dice roll) and the text will be trsnfered to the paizo edit field.

Okay, I think that is it for now.
The explanation is as good as I can make it. But nothing tops hands-on experience.
Just give it a try and see whether or not it works for you.
Feel free to ask question of course.

So long
GoW

Adding a few points to the excellent answer of Jacob.

- Stay away from any campaign labelled 'Mythic' and/or 'Gestalt/Tristalt/whatnot'. These are over-the-top, high-level games which produce extraordinarily complex characters and you will feel your lack of 'system mastery' if joining one of those really badly.

- Be upfront with the GM / fellow players. Nothing is causing a game to break apart as fast as different expectations. If I was your GM and knew that you are a newcomer, I'd try my best to explain rule-stuff more in-depth (or at all) than if I knew nothing of it. Asking others players for insights is also a very good idea, ESPECIALLY if it comes to spell selection and/or feats and traits.

- If you feel like it, build your first character and head over to the Advice Section of the Forum and ask people for their opinion (stating that it is your first one and you're new to PF). There are always people around who love to comment on builds and give input.

- Keep your background flexible and focus more on the actual character of your character ;-). This will let you adapt your concept easily to various campaign settings, while still playing 'your' character. You stated that you are in love with Cheliax as an evil country. Go with 'comes from Evil Country' in your background, which may or may not be Cheliax.

- Stay away from classes/options that are at the outer end of the PF system, e.g. Psionics as their rules are often not very clear and/or confusing and/or problematic (at least in my experience).

- And lastly: don't wait too long for 'the perfect game' to crop up. It may not come in a while and if it does, there's no guarantee that you will make it in. You will usually make it into a game in something like one out of four cases - if not less.

Cheers and have fun on the boards :-)

Upon Zadira bringing up that Kayla is missing, Simon looks around in surprise. Then, remembering what they were discussing, he tries an explanation.
"Huh, I don't know-miour.
Maybe she went looking for some minions we can drive at the bullies-miii?"

*** Upon Zadiras Return ***
Simon is surprised to find the woman to be accompanied by a snake and was at the verge of shouting a warning at her but the way the snake is looking at her does not indicate any danger.
He slowly approaches the snake with curious eyes, trying to sooth-talk to it.
"Hello snakey, how are you doing in this evil place, all lost and hungry I bet, yesyes?
Is the tall one your friend now-purrurr?"

Your interest is noted, Warsor.
Giving the developments of 8th edition, MAYBE I will EVENTUALLY allow a pro-Imperial Eldar faction to join the game.

Yeah, the bigger the fight the longer you will work on posts.
A couple of notes on how to speed up (on the long run):

1) Have your players use an up-to-date stat-line (either in their profile-headers or as a bottom-line after each combat post)
-> These should include (at least):
- Their current AC/Touch/Flat-footed
- Their HP
- Saves and CMD
- Active Spells / Conditions

This will massively speed combat resolution as you do not have to browse through their profiles and look back to what happened three rounds ago.
This also neatly shifts responsibility and work to the players - which is a good thing for overtasked GMs (aka: every GM)

2) Set up and make good use of macros:
Prepare often used stuff, fully formatted in a handy (best: cloud-synchronized) notebook, so you only have to do a copy&paste for things like:
- Party-wide saves (have a complete set of saves of all types for everyone in the party, so if the party is targeted with, say a kill cloud, you just paste the party-fort-save and ... done)
- Party initiative
- Initiative/Round tracking list (if you use it - you likely do)
- attack routines for common enemies (e.g. if you have a fight with many similar enemies or your campaign is heavy on a monster type)
- (...)

For non-combat ... I rarely find myself struggling with finding enough time to bing the party ahead.
Try to stay ahead of the group half a location and write stuff up when you have the time.
E.g. the party is currently fighting to free a town from a horde of Ork bandits. While they do so, start writing up the thank speech of the town major that you know he will hold after the Orks are finished and the party is invited to stay in town for a while by the thankful citizens.
You can do that at small chunks whenever you have the time and as soon as the party 'catches up', you can simply copy-paste your prepared speech/scene description/whatever in.

I guess, those are the things that work quite well for me.

Howdy fellow Play-by-Post,
are you a 21st century gamer with an android mobile?
This guide is intended for everyone who finds themselves composing a lot of their posts from their phones and on-the-go.
I know 'we' are a decent proportion of all PbP gamers on this board, so I figured it would be time to create a thread to discuss solution to some of the challenges one faces when doing PbP from mobiles.
From my point of view there are two major challenges and one time consuming annoyance in mobile PbP:

1. Lost posts. This is the single most frustrating thing for mobile PbP by far. Whether it is because paizo.com decides to go full-Goblin (never go full goblin) and omnomnoms your 3000 character posts you just 'submitted' or you simply ran into one of those pesky black holes where there is no internet available without noticing and you just sent that post into the nothingness. With a lot of luck® your mobile browser may recover your post. But probably not. Everyone knows the pain, I am sure.

2. Post Formatting & Dice-Rolls. I am a software-dev, so I am no stranger to bbCodes and formatting. While on a device with a decent keyboard that is. But on a mobile ... it is just a pain in the behind (and fingers). Whether it is simply "Talking with your group" or Attacking a dragon: 1d20 + 8 + 2d6 - 4 + 19 + 2d4 ⇒ (7) + 8 + (3, 6) - 4 + 19 + (2, 2) = 43, these expressions take ages to type on a mobile.

3. Copy-Pasting. As a result of 1) and 2), I have long since started typing up my posts in a note-taking app on the phone to prevent post losses and to store&use dice macros, e.g. for my attacks, the combat initiative order / round overview (when GMing). The trouble is ... copy&pasting on mobile is annoying. Especially if you have long posts and have to copy back and forth multiple times (because dice rolls have to be resolved in the browser).

After a lot of cursing I think I managed to establish a nice composition of two apps on my android mobile to overcome nearly all of those challenges.
Intrigued?
Good.
Then, if you don't mind, please follow me down the rabbit hole :-)

The first app is called Pure Writer:
There are many note-taking apps available. I am currently using an app called Pure Writer. It is a very nifty editor with several very useful options that are not hidden behind a paywall.
The one feature that made me use this app, is a two-tap Copy-All function.
You edit your post, open the editor menu with one tap and select "Copy the Content" with a second tap. Et voìla, all of your post is copied to the clipboard! Open your browser and paste it on paizo!
Done.
This app alone will prevent post losses (and even provides local recovery, useful if you use it for GMing and want to have a look what you posted three rounds before - offline) and will severely speed up copy-pasting your offline-composed posts to your browser.

The second app I am strongly recommending is Typing Hero:
With that one, we are going full-caster guys.
This app is pure awesome and will speed up mobile PnP A LOT and comes totally free as well!
What it does?
It allows you to create&store an unlimited amount of text macros which will be triggered by a keyword you can freely choose.

What the heck????:

Okay, let me explain with an example. One of the most commonly used bbCodes is the "Talking" combo of bold text and quotes. Let us create a macro for that!
1. Creating a new Typing Hero macro:
Open the app, press the neat blue plus (add) button.
2. Selecting a key:
In the upper text field, you can enter any text you want to use for the keyword associated with the macro. Whenever Typing hero detects you typing a keyword, it offers you to replace that keyword with the stored macro text (see next step). So you want to use a keyword you would not normally type and that you can easily remember.
For our PbP talking, lets go with the keyword .say
Notice the leading dot. This nifty prefix will prevent typing hero to pop up everytime you type 'say' but it makes remembering the keyword easy as cake. I start all my typing hero macros with a dot (see example section further down).
3. Entering the macro text:
Now that we have a keyword, we only need to add the actual macro text. This is the text that typing hero will insert instead of the keyword we set up before.
For our talking macro, we will enter the bbCode for "Talking"".
So basically {b}"Talking"{/b} but with these [] brackets instead the {} ones.
And we're done!

Now, whenever you type the keyword .say in a supported* app typing hero will* detect the keyword and replace it with your macro text!
* (see restrictions further down)

Awesome, isn't it?!
For increases usability, open typing hero options and enable the first option ('Fitting Macros highlight' or something like that). If enabled, a pop-up will appear if you type the beginning of a keyword, allowing you to have typing hero insert the macro immediately, without even having to finish typing your entire keyword!

Go forth and add all the macros you need and use them in conjunction with Pure Writer for maximum effect.

Macro examples:

(using my Zen Archer 'Amari' in the examples)
- Attack routines:
.amariAttack => Single Arrow!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22Arrow Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
.amariFlurry => (2 attack Zen Flurry of Bows)
.amariKiFlurry => (2 attack Zen Flurry plus an extra attack from spending a Ki point)
.amariRiskyKiFlurry => (as the above but with risky strike for reduced atk and increased damage)
- Initiative rolls: for characters or the entire group (either to support the GM by speeding up your game or because you are the GM and roll ini for the group)
.amariInit => Roll Initiative!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
.group2Init => (lots of init rolls)
- Saveing throws: (again, for characters or your entire group => very useful for gming!
.amariFort / .amariRefl / .amariWill => saving throws
.group2FortSaves => (all of the groups fort saves)
- Round Summary: my preferred way to organize battle for the groups I GM for
.group2RoundSummary => (round summary including round number, initiative order, status effects, resolved actions, ...)

Qestions/Answers:
- Hey, but why don't use typing hero directly in the browser?
Well, for one, you would still face big-pain problem 1). And for another ... Typing hero does sadly not work with all apps (as it depends on the standard android text input to work, so all apps which replace the default android input with a custom one will not work). This includes browsers and most 'big' notebook apps like (oneNote and evernote). But it DOES work with Pure Writer. Yes, it took me a lot of time to find a working combination, but here we are.
- Hey, awesome, but why does my Typing Hero only works some of the time?
Welcome the cool world of aggressive android power saving. You got two options, either to track down all the energy saving options in your android version and allow background activity of Typing Hero (varies wildly between OS version and manufacturer). Or, you simply start the typing her app before starting to compose your post in Pure Writer to ensure it is active while typing.

Mhhh, using the wish ...
Not a bad idea!
I can actually see it being evil at the start (he has a dark spot in his background anyway) and he got it calmed and under control during his long, lonely years of seclusion in the mountains.
That could just work - mechanically as well as fluff-wise.

@Using Class Feature Bonus:
- It is stated that it won't scale and it cannot be a feature higher than level 5 ...
- won't scale ... beyond lvl 5 or like 'at all'
--> e.g. the white-haired witch's hair gets more reach and special attacks (most notably constrict at lvl 2) with levels
--> can I take the white hair at level 5, so every scaling it would have got until that point, but no more beyond?
---> if not: can I spend the second class feature to get one (or more) of its advances?

Thud'dr goes Priest!:

The arrival of an Ogryns within the temple of the Cleansing Flames in Crossroads with the barely articulates wish to join the ranks of its Incinerate Priests causes debates behind closed doors.
A lot of heated debates.
The priesthood is split throughout ranks, splinter-beliefs and status over the question whether an Ogryns can and should be allowed to bear the symbols of their holy order into battle.
Scribes are sent to the chamber of remembrance to search for any notion of Ogryns in their own or any other Ecclesiarchy order but they returned empty handed.
The debate still is ongoing at this point of time but the voices of acceptance are already loud enough (due to Highpriest Occelent III. is in that wing) that Thud'dr receives some rites of blessing and tokens of worship to take with him on his next assignment.

Everything else is postponed until his return.
Those against his acceptance hope that this matter solves itself in the fires of war.
Those that are in his favor, hope that the fires of war will forge this Ogryns further, accumulating enough battle honours such that those against him will have no other choice than to accept him.
Discrelty, inquiries are sent to Thud'drs commanders, requesting a prioritization of that Ogryns cybernetic enhancements.

***

After an endless time of waiting in the chapel, a quartet of priests in long blazing red robes approaches Thud'dr and Notch to take them into the deeper parts of the shrine.
There they are showered by blessed water, heated to over 40 degree and colored red by sacred herbs while the four priests are chanting four litanies from four different holy scriptures in a deafening chorus.
Then you are let into a blazing hot armoury where the smell of promethium is as thick as around a large refueling station.
Notch receives a gold embellished flamer together with a large and heavy fuel canister which is strapped to his back in a small ceremony.
Then the armourists of the temple are presented with the big, purely practical challenges of Thud'dr. The thoughts of equipping an Ogryns with a flamer is discarded after a long look at his massive hands.
The other traditional tool of trade - the mighty Eviscerator - requiring two strong hands of a priest to wield, looks puny on Thud'dr and after a very brief instruction sequence, where Thud'dr managed to nearly cut down the instructor, a 2m high tank filled with promethium and his own legs, the priests double down on the idea of equipping the Ogryn with a that relict that is stowed in compartment 27-18b. It is a massive (even for the standards of Eviscerators) and battered exemplar with a hilt large enough such that even Thud'dr could use both of his large hands with it and still clogged with the brown, hardened blood of some slain heretics. And most importantly - no Magus tasked with repairing it's mighty engines ever was up to it. Since his original wielder - Pyroclast Gorgus York - died upon a mountain of slain cultists, it's roaring engine denies its service even to the priests of Mars.

Finally, both are presented with cracked and blackened Rosarius as a token from the order of the Cleansing Flames to take with them and into battle. They are told that these tokens will witness their accomplishments and fears in the fires of war and will be used to assess their faith and dedication once they return to the shrine.

***

I figure that any advanced speciality will require quite some training, which seems unreadonable in-between missions with only a few days in between assignments – double so for something unusual. And an Ogryn priest is certainly unusual.
So you are going to hop through some loops (or rather, kill a lot of orks) and have to think it through (read: get your cybernetics) before getting full rank.

What you get now?
.. A BIG Eviscerator, which doesn't really work just yet, but still can be used to carve-in ork heads the old-fashioned way (2d10 + 1,5*STB if using 2-handed or 1d10+STB one-handed – R, unbalanced, Ogryn-Proof)
.. A disfunct Rosarius which still holds some power from the former wearing granting you the first Priest power:
.... You create one temporary FP whenever you kill a foe of Handler, Elite or Master Rank in close combat (or at least half a squad of troops in a single engagement) that can be given to any squad member and can be used like any other FP, but cannot be burned and is lost if not used after one day.

@Ogryn armour: It is stated nowhere, but I guess that at least chest armour for Ogryns should be easily available (aka you have it).
The more delicate parts, especially the helmet is probably a case for case-by-case crafting.

@Shield: I think I did remember something about you asking around for someone to make you one with a view-slid in it, didn't you?
Otherwise, I figure that this would be kind of a situational, pick-something-thick-up-and-go-for-it thing.
Considering the amount of damaged tanks that make up the temporary defences of 'Plaza West', it should be easy enough to pick up some discarded armour plate and have someone wield a grip to it.
Just go ask someone nicely :-)
