I think it's a bad precedent to pull out trade goods (jewelry) off the top when you can just choose to take your share partially in jewelery when we sell it all in town, but if no one else cares then neither do I. It's not that big a deal.
Zadira |
Maybe it is just a souvenir thing. At least no one put a thousand gold necklace on the gambling altar... oh, wait. ;)

Kayla like little baubles, and I was choosing the lower value stuff anyway. I like to keep jewelry type stuff to under 100 gold
Grelthe |
That makes sense.

Just for the records:
OOC, I have a bad feeling about this (pushing deeper without having an established escape route to the surface)....
Simon is too curious to feel more than a slight unease, but I am deeply troubled by the fact that our way in has closed shut behind us x_x

While I really like stealth synergy, I am all for Kayla to receive a homebrew crafting feat to create magic chocolate bars with various buffing effects.
- Have to climb a wall?
-> Eat the honey-nut bar for spiderclimb.
- Need to be silent as a ghost?
-> Eat the creamy-milk-bar for silence.
- Causing bleed damage with weapon attacks?
-> Eat a bit of my special-issue Toblarone (the only sweet to hurt you while eating)

I think that there is a witch build based on being a baker, so you can make treats instead of potions, and you can have a little gingerbread man familiar and stuff if I remember right. :)
Kayla - Black scorpion |
but I don't have any spell casting ability
Zadira |
Just call it alchemy instead. Still works. :)

Oooh. Alchemical chocolate. Yummy.
Grelthe |
Soo... map?
Kayla - Black scorpion |
yeah not sure how much longer I will stick with this. this is the second fight now I am useless. I seem have nothing to offer the party at this point.
Grelthe |
You aren't useless! You may not be able to attack swarms (buy some alchemist's fire for next time), but why can't you attack the larger spiders? Even though you failed your will save, staggered just means you get a standard OR a move, it doesn't prevent you from attacking?
(Also investing in a light melee weapon that deals bludgeoning damage might not be a horrible idea, based on my personal experiences with playing a rogue-type character.)
Kayla - Black scorpion |
Thanks Grelthe. We just need to get back to town I guess. Right now, I need to get out of the swarm.
Grelthe |
Just a heads up - I might not be on as often for the next week. Got family in town, birthdays and midterms.
Simon Blue-Eye |
@Grelthe: Have a nice time :-)
@Kayla: Yeah, swarms are any martials bane. But well, they are called pests for a good reason. And cubes are the bane of crit or sneak-attackers. Just you wait until we find some nice minotaurs down here to slice into tiny pieces.
Simon Blue-Eye |
Mhhh, seems like we discovered the first ever-lasting-spider-nest.
Shame spiders make for such very poor food, or this would be amazing for our planned town. Having an endless food supply in your basement can only come in handy, right?
Simon Blue-Eye |
#Spidernado?
Anyway, how's that staggered condition going? Still up or gone after the vacuum cleaners last sweep-over?

Do you mean the door that slammed shut behind us and magically locked, up above the magically peaceful room.... 2 levels up, I think?
The trap is disabled quickly and the chest is found to be empty. Bait.
The third door opens easily, but slams closed as soon as the party is through and locks itself magically.
The passage to this next room reeks of rotting corpses. The large room beyond appears to have a smaller chamber set within it. The walls are lined with recesses containing smashed caskets. Bloody debris and rat corpses litter the room. In the flickering torchlight, the characters can see hunched human forms. This room is the lair of 12 ghouls. You promptly murder them.
Expend one use of an x/day ability or take 20% of your max hp in damage from the fighting.A DC 18 Perception check reveals a total of 2,055 sp, 451 gp and 19 gems worth 20 gp each. In the most southwesterly alcove are 4 potions: ghoul touch, levitate, lesser restoration and remove paralysis; a +2 light generating longsword (generates light constantly), and a +1 light wooden shield of arrow deflection.
The inner chamber is empty, but hides a secret for in the floor that conseals a ladder leading down into darkness.
I am glad for that locked door because it leaves us that peaceful spot to rest without being ganged up on, but I think anyone with trapfinding can use disable device with magical traps, I'd think it would work against magical locks too? I am more worried that we aren't clearing out levels as we go, so if we find something we need to retreat from, we may just retreat into the mouth of another bad guy?
Simon Blue-Eye |
Exactly.
Ooc I think it should be our nr 1 prio to find a way back up.
We got quite some loot with us and I think Kayla and I have to get some corner-case equipment to deal with our shared weak-spots (namely swarms and puddings), plus Emily has a chainshirt waiting for her at the surface...
+4 AC (+1 if I can find someone able to do a quick enchant on it) is nothing to sniff at for the biggest target in our group...
Kayla - Black scorpion |
hi guys... funny thing. I am looking to reserve my vacation for next year (2020)
I am looking at a Bermuda Cruise on Royal Caribbean...
so I went to Expedia.com and then looked at Costco travel. both sites were the exact same price (to the penny)
so I then went to Royal Caribbean website to look at their cost for the cruise I am looking at taking.
final price with Royal Caribbean directly is a whopping 22 cents higher. really? only 22 cents?
all for the same cruise same room selection same ship same travel dates.
BTW if you are wondering it is $2,740 for two adults in a Junior Suite with a 50 sq. foot balcony. 5 night cruise to Bermuda from Bayonne NJ
Zadira |
Enjoy your cruise. :)
I love cruises, mostly because I love the water. It is cool to be able to see it all the time, and to go visit places and take your hotel with you. :)

Hey, looking over what I have recorded for party loot, there is an enchanted helmet that gives +1 saving throws that I don't think anyone is wearing... we could sell it when we get back to town, but we don't have much to sell right now, honestly. I think someone should get the benefits of it until we make a big sale run in town.
Dividing up just the cash and jewelry from the party fund gives us each... 322g, 7s extra to spend in town. Unless we want to keep a separate party fund for some reason?

hey guys, sorry about the slow posts. been sick for the past 4 days. getting much better now.
Zadira |
Good idea, Grelthe. This dungeon is challenging, and I like that part about it a lot. However, the treasure almost always seems to stink... except that nice wish room. :) And maybe the gambling altar, but that was just luck. We need to find a nice treasure room full of gems and platinum or something. Too much toxic grossness and too few cool magic items, or cash with which to buy such.

Sorry for the slow posting. I've had the week from heck. Everything is fine. I've just been busy at work and busy with personal life. Usually one is busy and the other isn't so bad, and I can keep up. Not this week.
After Sunday it should get better.

@GM: How available are scrolls?
I'd like to get two 1st level scrolls (Energy Resistance).
Strange that I missed that one during spell selection ...
Simon Blue-Eye |
Nice!
An interesting question ... since scrolls are spell completion items ... will they work with Improved Share Spells?
...
Reading up 1st level spells
...
Huh...?!
Double-Check.
Ohhh.
I did mess up my spell selection!
I assumed Shield Companion is a lvl 2 spell.
Turns out ... it isn't. It is a first level one.
Mhh.... GM?
Can I kick-out a lvl1 spell, move the Shield over to 1st and select another lvl2 spell instead (aka prot. from energy?)
Simon Blue-Eye |
Thanks.
It turned out that I had Protection from Energy already (don't ask me why I didn't used that on Emily during the slime-fight -.-). I choose to go with Gust of Wind instead. Might come in handy to get rid of annoying gas clouds or flying stuff. I was about to go with Lesser Restoration but I think we have plenty access to that spell between Vuzi and Grelthe.
Fun fact:
Resist Energy is a lvl 1 spell for rangers/hunters (lvl 2 for everybody else). But the Communal version is a lvl 3 spell for everyone - despite the usual 'rule' of communal versions just being one spell level higher. Weird stuff...
I somewhat hoped to pick Communal Resist Energy for my open 2nd lvl spell^^
Shopping:
I am going with:
3x Resist Energy
1x Stone shield
3x Swarmsuit
1x watertight scrollcase
===
100g scrolls, 75g suits, 5g scrollbox (watertight)
Grelthe |
Out of curiosity, how does a swarm suit work? Do you have to be wearing it all the time to get the benefit when there is a swarm, or would you have time to put it on if you see a swarm, and what type of action would that be?
I will also buy a watertight scrollbox, that seems like a good idea.
Simon Blue-Eye |
Yeah, you would have to put it on.
1 minute to take on.
Not ideal.
But for 25g, DR5- against diminutive and DR10- against tiny is quite nifty if one has the time to prepare.
Otherwise, gonna wait for the next level and I can take the communal Protection from natural for DR5 when we need it...
Zadira |
Ooooh.... that makes me think of something. I *do* have enough money to buy Pipes of the Sewers, so we could have some nice on-demand rat swarms, which would make your swarm suit ... oh, wait. Rats are tiny, and Swarmsuits only work against diminutive and fine. Darn.
Still, pipes of the sewers are cool.

hey guys been real busy getting ready for my trip to the Bahamas. leaving on March 30th, and I had no idea how much there was to do.

Zadira |
Sounds like a fun trip. :)

Hey all, just a quick update... I am still here. I leave in less than 24 hours to the Bahamas. I got my paperwork in order. got some new clothes and now to just pack it up and load the car.
leave early tomorrow morning for NYC to catch the ship.
I also put together my camera equipment and I may be doing some Vlogging on you tube, depending on my internet connection. If I get anything uploaded, I'll post a link here for you guys to join in the fun.
Wish I could take you guys with us...
but if anyone is interested we are sailing back to the Bahamas again in September of 2020.
Simon Blue-Eye |
Ahhhh, I waited for this level.
This is a good level for Simon :-)
Emily Black-Fur |
So let's see:
- 1 more 3rd level spell known & per day
- Upgrade +2->+4 for my Animal Focus and I gain it on two stats now (pure awesome)
- Swift tracker (well, okay)
- +1 on my good saves
- BaB+ => iterative attacks (and the BaB prerequisite for improved two weapon fighting!)
- the usual skills
- uncanny dodge (neat)
- Debilitating Injuries (oh, yeah)
- Rogue Talent (have to think about that one)
Emily:
- hit dice
- BaB increase
- Feat (neat!)
- skill point
@Rogue Talent:
I guess the following is too much cheese, yesyes?
Rogue Talent -> Ninja Trick -> Combat Trick -> Feat
I know that one can only take the Rogue Talent Combat Trick once.
But how about the Ninja Trick, Combat Trick?
It sure is something totally different, yesyes? ;-)
