Amari Al'Bakr is a well build man with deep black skin and green eyes. He is completely bald but for a pitch-black mohawk bisecting the otherwise perfect-shaped scalp, about three fingers wide and half-a-thumb high.
He wears the most simple clothes, barely enough to cover half of his body and a battered, flat backpack on his back.
The only things that mark him as a warrior of any kind, is the big quiver filled with arrows and the composite bow that are strapped over his back and the numerous scars that are visible all over his body.
History:
Amari was born as the seventh child into a poor trapper and farmer family living at a remote water source in the desert of Qadira. Only days after his birth, the healthy young boy was taken by monks of the nearby Al'Fahd monastery. The Al'Fahd order guarantees all nearby farmers and small villages their protection – in exchange for the right to take one newborn every year from any one family under their protection. At that year, they chose Amari's family. This didn't go over well with Amari's mother of course and she tried to fight the monks that came to take her newborn away. The silent monks simply pushed her aside and left with the screaming child. They disappeared into the blazing desert before the father of the child could even grab his hunting bow.
Amari was raised by the order and never met his actual parents but he was told the truth about what happened eventually, since the monks of the Al'Fahd order vowed to never lie. He was told the rules and reasons why this had happened to him – and he accepted them. Without the occasional suffering of a few, the order could never hope to keep up the strength that is required to provide protection and peace for to the whole region.
The monks trained Amari to survive the desert, find and follow the tracks of bandits and shoot the bow as an act of meditation. The young boy showed quite some talent in silent movement and most physical disciplines his tutors laid before him: climbing the monastery walls, jumping from roof to roof and across deep drops.
The morning of his 18th birthday, Muhammed Ma'z'ama, head of the Al'Fahd council, came to his simple chamber. He would tell the young man, that the elders have watched him for the last four years and decided, that his talent would be put to better use in another … organization, called The Shadows. From the description of them, they seemed Amari to act similar to the Al'Fahd order, but for the benefit of the whole country rather than for a small section of it. Ma'z'ama told him to ready himself to leave the monastery within the next month – as soon as the recruiters would come to the stronghold the next time. As a last word of wisdom, the teacher told him:
"Change the path, not your goal and never your way."
