"Weeeeeeell, this isn't how this was supposed to go," Nella groans, certain that they're in the soup good and proper now. Hoping to do what she can to mitigate things, she hurries forward into the room. As she does, she flexes her wrist and the same wand from earlier drops back into her hand. She waves it in an arc over the party, hoping that it'll help - at least a little.

Nice rolls! Please help me understand the action economy here. You have three attacks: shield bash and two waraxe attacks. Is this because of two-weapon fighting? If so, are the attack bonuses all correct? Also, it looks like you're including sneak attack damage in the damage rolls for the waraxe. Why not with the shield too?

Yep, two weapon fighting, but with no penalty to hit on the shield due to Shield Mastery (why it's more accurate than the axe). The shield also does have sneak attack damage included (it rolled a 7).

Yes, you did mention it. I forgot that you had 15 feet when enlarged and with that weapon. Makes sense now.

Tarragon lands two devastating hammer blows on the lava monster. The monster seems to absorb some of the damage without harm but most of the impact of the hammer gouges large divets out of its outer shell, revealing a bright orange core. The monster roars and slides towards Tarragon. He lashes out with pummeling fists.

@GM - apes have the scent ability, does Arnie notice anything? If so, he will take a move action to try to get the direction if not within five feet.

Scent (Ex):
This special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.

The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.

When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed - only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When the creature is within 5 feet of the source, it pinpoints the source's location.

How much info can the ape communicate to you? That is, if the ape can or cannot detect Xojject by scent, would you know it? This is a rule I'm not quite familiar with.

Tarragon, Xojject gets a move before you. Not sure that it matters but if it does, I'll act accordingly.

Unfortunately, Garduk can not speak with animals. Absent other direction, I would expect the ape to continue attacking the efreet if he can pinpoint him, and to try to locate the efreet by smell if he is still in the room but not within 5 feet of the ape.

Garduk throws a vial of ink into empty space. The liquid splashes against the wall, leaving a dark stain. The ape roars in frustration as his prey disappears. His nostrils flare as he smells the air then the bulk of muscle moves towards the center of the room. K'Anubis also sniffs the air.

K'Anubis:
You smell the same jewels that Xojject was wearing when you first saw him a few moments ago. He is near but not right next to you. You suspect he is closer to the center of the room.

Brady looks around, itching for something to hit. Since no target makese itself known, he kicks at the fallen elemental.

Tarragon slides in front of the door in an attempt to block it. Tarragon, that was just a 5' step so you still have your actions.

Xojject screams in fury from thin air. "You impertinent mortals! What right do you have to destroy my life!" Suddenly three beams of scorching energy blast from the corner of the room and straight into Kulga. Xojject flickers into view for a moment before an opaque wall of fire flares across the room.

I'm acting as if Brady were on delay since the bot choice contained no actions. He should reset in initiative to right after Xojject as a result of the delay.

Waiting for the efreet to reveal himself, Brady recoils from the heat of the fire that washes over him. Even the magical protection he had wasn't able to hold it all back. (Resist energy (fire) prevents 10 of that damage, so Brady should only be down 8 hp.)

As soon as the initial shock of the fire recedes, Brady calls out to the others "He's back here!" He steps forward, studying the efreet for weaknesses as he begins pummeling. "We don't need to end your life; you could just give us what we want, instead. At the moment though, the right of my fists to make you bleed supercedes your right to life!"

*face palm* to myself... Of course that's what he meant... Sorry. Too many things going on IRL. As for the table, it would be a climb or acrobatics but the DC would be low, like 5, so I'd say you can move through it at half speed. I don't care if it's over or under.

Garduk, no the dmg I reported does not take into account the temporary hit points. I'm just listing the damage, I'm assuming that you are tracking your current HP total. Yes, the azer left the door open.

Nella bows her head to concentrate. Drawing from Shelyn's fount of divine magic, her skin begins to tingle as the energy builds inside her. She raises her hands towards the wall of fire and utters a single word. Shimmering waves pulse through the air towards the wall. The violet flames sputter a few times then shrink to nothing. A few wisps of black smoke float in the air where the wall was standing.

Clear for all to see, Xojject looks in shock at where the wall of fire was. He only stands for a second before Kulga starts to crawl up on the table. She is vulnerable for a moment. He swings the falcion at her, cutting a deep gash in her thigh. But she continues forward. The momentum behind her axe blade causes it to bite deep into Xojject as well. He is barely standing.

Hey all. Ended up in the ER today for a few hours. Really stupid. I cut my finger with an Exacto knife which by itself isn't that big of a deal. But then for some reason, as my wife was washing out the cut, I passed out, came back to, then passed out again, then my wife said I started twitching like I was going to have a seizure (one of my sons has epilepsy so we're a bit sensitive to that) so she called 911.

The medics got there and everything seemed fine except my BP was 80-something over 50 and my HR was 52 BPM. They said that was too low and it wasn't coming up fast enough so they packed me up in the ambulance and trucked me off to the hospital.

Eventually everything turned out just fine but I lost several hours...

I'll have to get the game started tomorrow.

Kirill, I work with people from Ukraine and have visited L'viv several times. I don't know if you wrote Cyrillic characters because you know a language that uses them or just for fun but either way you might like this little story that happened to me.

I know very little Ukrainian (or Russian) but I find it fun to map the Cyrillic characters to their pronunciation since it often means that I know the word. For example CTOΠ -- C makes an "S" sound and Π makes a "p" sound so you have "stop".

After a couple of days of being in L'viv, on my first trip, I was really getting into the habit of pronouncing the words I saw as we drove around town. I kept seeing large letters on buildings ΡΕCTOPAH. Suddenly it came to me and I turned to my Urainian host. "Hey, I figured out the Ukrainian word for "restaurant". It's peck-tow-paw!" He looked at me, totally confused so I explained to him "PEC" = peck, "TO" = tow, "PAH" = paw. He burst out laughing because, you see, P is actually "r", C is actually "s" and "H" is actually "n". So PECTOPAH is really "RESTORAN" and that's the actual Ukrainian word for "restaurant". So now it's a running joke when I visit my coworkers there. We always talk about going to the peck-tow-pah for lunch/dinner, etc.

I do agree that in the long run it'd probably leave a better 'aftermath' if we don't kill anyone that we absolutely don't have to. Once the evidence we're supposed to leave comes to light the powers that be around here will hopefully be way more focused on it than on the band of uh, thugs/agents/whatever from the Material that caused a ruckus.

That said, Hsalkar is a participant in slavery (albeit slavery seems to be legal here) so that may or may not muddy the waters further for those in the party that feel especially strongly about that.

If some of Kanubis' damage is non-lethal it should not be a problem to leave the enemy alive. Now her slaves may decide otherwise.

I couldn't agree more. If they would make a mobile site that--for example--included buttons to assign formatting tags, this would be entirely different, but flipping back and forth between keyboards, one character at a time, to compose posts with formatting tags is uncomfortable enough that--frankly--I'm just not interested in doing it.

^Brady has a good point. I posted Nella's questions in-character because she was genuinely curious to hear if Kanubis had something particular in mind regarding the salamander. But speaking out of character, it's going to be pretty difficult to smuggle an unconscious body into a location that we're trying to break into ourselves.

I do appreciate the creativeness involved with wanting to potentially use the salamander as a hostage or bargaining chip if we get cornered and need a way out, but given what we know about efreets I'm not sure that they'd really care that much about the fate of one single employee.

It's an off-site security location is my understanding, but it's also a city with legalized slavery, so if we put manacles on her, then that answers a lot of questions from random passers-by. Anyone who recognizes her though... ::shrug::
