A plan, hm. I am a merchant from Material PLane introducing his services and got special purpose to check security measures to be sure Cunderfury are capable to do business with Trade Prince. And these guys are my analyst, guard, advisor, accountant and travel guide. I hope thats a good plan or maybe I should mention to my team, that I never lie.
GM MindXing |
It looks like you have decided to enter. I'll move us forward that way.
The door to the security complex is unlocked. This luxuriously appointed lobby contains numerous high-backed chairs and rugs of woven copper. Several thin sheets of metallic paper lay scattered on the floor at the feet of a salamander who is in the midst of shouting at a small group of cowering azers.
"არ იფიქროთ, რომ ამით თავიდან აიცილებთ. თქვენ სრულიად უსარგებლო ნაცარი ხარ. მე არ გამოვდგები ამ აშკარა სისულელეს და მოვალეობის შემცირებას."
Hearing a noise behind her, the salamander turns to face the newcomers with a confused look. Then a devious grin crosses her face. She raises her voice and addresses the azers over her shoulder, still keeping her eye on the Pathfinders. "ახლა კი, როგორც ჩანს, კონდერფრინებმა დახმარება გაუგზავნეს აჯანყების ჩაქრობას."
Switching to common she points to the Pathfinders with her spear. "I command you to punish these slaves for their impudence!"

What does he say? Interprete that we are here for security checking. - Kanubis asks his followers... tryin at least to understand salamander's intentions with Sence motive: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Kulga Gruenakslag |
Kulga gives the salamander a questioning glare. "Is she commanding us to punish the azers or vice-versa?"
GM MindXing |
I realized after I wrote my posting above that it was ambiguous. That wasn't my intention and I was about to fix it when I realized that it might make things a bit more interesting if I left it that way.
"Yes! You! Punish those azers? Are you idiots? Can you not understand Common?" The salamander seems to be getting herself worked up.
Kanubis |
If it is obvious that the salamander is in charge here, and azers are slaves, K'Anubis gonna act. After short delay he nods, approaching one of azers and then quickly start enlarging. There after he extiguish out at least halh gallon liquid from waterskin. K'Anubis farts then and adds in common.
Work as you are good instrument and you avoid indignity like this. My kin apreciate your work. K'Anubis reading motives there after, awaiting for reactions.
Tarragon The Golden |
Hmm. I do not much like slave owners. I am more of a mind to side with the slaves in this argument. Tarragon says quietly to the group.
Kanubis |
I need to make it clear. K'Anubis made one Azer wet by streaming his face from waterskin. But I can not control tokens to move at the Map
Garduk the Unteachable |
Garduk holds up a hand. "Not so fast, Kanubis."
Mind racing, Garduk's face twists into an unpleasant grimace. He glares at the salamander and azers. After a moment, he growls,
"დიახ, ჩვენ გამოგვიგზავნეს კონფერფურის მიერ. ჩვენ ვნახავთ ვის სჭირდება სასჯელი. რა მნიშვნელობა აქვს ამ ყველაფერს?"
GM MindXing |
Hsalkar pauses for a second and then turns back to face the azers. She continues in Ingan so that the azers can understand. "ეს დეგენერატები გაქცევას გეგმავდნენ. მე მათ გეგმა გავაფუჭე. ახლა თქვენ უნდა დაისაჯოთ ისინი. Უხეშად."
She looks meaningfully back at each of the Pathfinders. "Are you going to punish the azers or not?" she asks angrily. "Pouring water on them is not sufficient. And, I know you're not from the Cinderfurys. If you were, I would have heard about it." Her patience running thin and you can tell she is about to explode into even more of a rage at any moment.
"These degenerates were planning an escape. I thwarted their plan. Now you need to punish them. Violently."
Sorry if the situation is confusing. Here is what you should know and see right now, even if you don't understand Ingan. There is a group of three azers that were in the middle of being reprimanded rather harshly by a salamander. The salamander's name is Hsalkar. She took advantage of your entrance to try to cower the azers more and she is demanding that you punish the azers. By punish she mostly means beat to within an inch of their life or just kill them.
If you wish to convince her that you are from the Cinderfurys you'll need a Bluff check (Garduk, or anyone). Or, you can try to calm her down with Diplomacy.
Kanubis |
K'Anubis still do not understznd Ignan, so, without translation feeling uncomfortable. He obviously expect that his taeam act more active.
Master salamander, I would feel sad if property try to escape. But can you familirise us with the azers contact so that We sure about proper way to punish them? Moreover, how do you know they wanted to run away?
Diplomacy with Ki power: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 4 = 24
Garduk the Unteachable |
"A moment, please, while I translate for my comrades."
Garduk translates the part of the conversation that took place in Ignan into Common for the rest of the party, then mutters to Kanubis in badly-accented Dwarvish:
"Mis su plaan on, Kanubis? Me ei tööta salamandri heaks ega tegutse siin nende kohalike seaduste jõustamiseks. Kui meie eesmärk on takistada sellel turvameeste seltsil reageerimast, kui Cinderfurys helistab, peame minu arvates tegema salamanderi teovõimetuks ja aitama neid vaeseid armetuid." He gestures at the azers.
Penelope 'Nella' Tabor |
Then if she knows we're not with the Cinderfurys, what...we beat the azers and then she turns us in anyway? I don't think so.
Nella isn't quite sure of what's being said between Garduk and Kanubis but she at least knows that it'd probably be a good idea to try and calm the salamander down, at least for the moment.
Time to stall...
"Now, now, there's no need to get even more upset - think of your, uh, blood pressure! Why don't you take a deep breath, calm down, and tell us all about what's been going on. Maybe we can help without causing a big ruckus...and besides, beating on others isn't going to do much good. If you put them out of commission then you'll just have to get replacements and that'll take time and maybe money too..."
Diplomacy (Aid): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Garduk has no idea what Nella is trying to say, but realizes that nobody other than Kanubis and Kulga are likely to understand Dwarven. He tries to coordinate the group by saying the same thing in a few other languages that the salamander is unlikely to know, gesturing each time with increasing emphasis at the azers.
"Trebuie să incapacităm salamandra și să oferim ajutorul celorlalți."
He addresses Nella in Varisian, then turns to Tarragon and Brady and says the same thing in Orcish.
"Wir müssen den Salamander außer Gefecht setzen und die Hilfe dieser anderen in Anspruch nehmen."
I think this is the first time I've ever had Garduk say anything in Orcish.
Penelope 'Nella' Tabor |
The DC on that Bluff check was to pass a secret message; since Nella made the DC 15 then the ones she's addressing it to should be able to understand it. Well, maybe not the azers if they don't speak Common, but the part should be able to understand it at least.

A couple questions. First, I can't find any rules on choking. Is this a special feat or ability? I have no problem treating it as NL damage if that's all it is. Second, how does K'Anubis get two CMB actions in one round? The grapple rules state that as a standard action you can try to maintain the grapple with a +5 bonus. If successful then you can also deal damage automatically. That, however, takes your entire standard action. I don't see that you get another CMB attack. Third, Brady, I misunderstood that I'd need to do another reflex check to pick the weapon back up. I rolled that just now and yes, he saved. I'll post more actions once I get the above issue cleared up.

While using this style, you can choke your opponent when you successfully maintain a grapple instead of choosing to damage, move, pin, or tie up your opponent. This suffocates your opponent (Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook 445). The grappled opponent can take a breath during any round in which you do not maintain the grapple.
I interpreted it as I need to start choke and then maintain with other options. This style also provides +2 bonus to maintain in addition to usual +5. Two check are because of Greater Grapple... I am not native english speaker, so might be wrong - correct me plz!
Garduk the Unteachable |
GM - the azer with the greased hammer will also have to make a reflex save each round it attempts to use the weapon.
Garduk takes a 5' step further into the room to clear a path for Tarragon, then draws a wand from his belt and aims at the red azer engaged with Brady.
He barks, "Telum magicum!" and two large, ice blue darts appear in the air already moving and speed forward into the azer.

GM MindXing |
Thanks. That clears some of it up for me. The Kraken Throttle lets you use 'choke' as the associated action when you maintain a grapple. From what I can tell, that doesn't do damage, it just suffocates the opponent. Greater Grapple also allows you to make a second check (optional) and if you succeed at that then you can use one of the associated actions (move, harm, pin, choke). So in your case, I can use your first check to maintain and then apply the action 'choke' and then for the second check it is just a CMB check and then the action would be 'harm' -- but for NL dmg. Because of the 'choke' action, the creature is now suffocating too. Make sense?

K’Anubis strengthens his grip on the salamander, slowly squeezing the life out of her. Hsalkar hisses and struggles futilely. A hint of desperation comes into her eyes but there is also the unmistakable look of defiance and hate.
The Azer mercenary facing Brady looks blankly at him and tries to ward off the blows with his bare hands but to no avail. Maybe because the Azer is unarmed or maybe for other reasons, but Brady pulls his punches and tries to knock out the Azer rather than kill it. The punches land solidly but the Azer absorbs them. At that moment two ice blue darts fly from across the room and slam into the creature. It grunts in pain but it still stands.
The other Azers’ eyes open wide as they start to sense the danger they are in. They are torn between fear of their master and fear of the newcomers. Relying more on instinct and habit then reason, they continue to strike at the enlarged dwarf while trying to position themselves to flank.
