(Posting on all of my games) Sorry to be slow to post lately - work has been very busy. Finally finishing for the night at 2am, and will jammed tomorrow too until at least late afternoon (around 15 hours from this post).

Happy Valentine's Day, friends! In honor of the occasion (and because I have it on good authority that I am a huge goober), here are some (internet-sourced) poems for you:
Roses are red,
Bacon is red,
Poems are hard,
Bacon.
Bacon sounds fantastic at nearly 1 in the morning. Yum.
Violets are blue,
Roses are red,
Hey hey hey,
Stay out of my shed.
Or else. *revs up the chainsaw*
Love is in the air
But so is influenza
Wash your filthy hands.
No, seriously, wash your hands. This is one time that sharing really isn't caring.

Unfortunately, Garduk doesn't have dispel magic prepared (or even in his spellbook). K'Anubis, does your Showmanship boon give you the rogue's ability to disable magical traps? If not, does anyone else have something that will get us past it? Nella?
EDIT TO ADD: Question for GM - On rereading the last few posts, I may have misunderstood your comment. When you say that the trap can be disabled, do you mean that it can be disabled with an ordinary disable device check?

I've got one Dispel Magic loaded, so if all else fails then Nella can try to dispel the trap.

GM MindXing |

Yes, my understanding is that it can be disabled with a normal Disable Device. Here's what the text in the adventure says:
The listed DC to disable the trap is to suppress the magical trap itself; a PC can instead pick the lock (Disable Device DC XX) to disable that trap.
The way I read that is that if you have the ability to disable magical traps then it's one DC, otherwise it's the other.
If I'm reading that wrong, please let me know.

Makes sense to me (for whatever my opinion is worth) - and is quite a relief.

![]() |

^Makes sense to me too. I'm guessing that one option is probably easier to accomplish than the other, based on how scenarios tend to be written.

![]() |

That's why I suggest to use Dispel Magic or similar effect to be sure that trap secured. On a position with a lack of Rogues.

![]() |

For what it's worth, I went through Garduk's chronicle sheets last night and he has a single-use boon that sort of lets him cast dispel magic once. It would feel weird to apply it here, but it might get us through another trapped door.
Unravel Magic: You have friends who know their way around magic. Check the box that precedes this boon as aswift action. A Pathfinder ally briefly enters the fight and casts dispel magic, with a caster level equal to your character level. If your character level is at least 13 when you activate this boon, your ally can cast greater dispel magic.

Brady has two uses of the same Showmanship boon that K'Anubis just used; as such he can also use Profession (merchant) with a +12 bonus to Disable Device on future trapped doors. I think that works out to be a lucky break for a party with no rogue!
Let's focus on using these renewable boons before we use the more precious dispel magic spells.

![]() |

^Okay, that works. I'd rolled Nella's CL check for Dispel Magic just in case we wanted to go ahead and use it, so as not to slow things down. But it sounds like we're going to let Kanubis and Brady use their Showmanship boons first and then worry about Dispel Magic uses after that - got it!

![]() |

Garduk can't help with any of the knowledge checks, right?

![]() |

@GM - thinking about the spell lattice, you probably already looked, but I don't suppose it's included on the chronicle sheet with the spell identified?

GM MindXing |

Yeah, it doesn't mention it. Strange.
Someone on the GM thread pointed this out too and the answer wasn't definitive but it seems that the best idea is to put Resist Energy on it so that's what I'll do.

![]() |

That sounds great, thanks.

![]() |

My play here would be to Bluff that we're with the security company. Mention the azer uprising and that we're investigating. Brady has a negative charisma modifier and no ranks, so if someone takes the lead on that, he can attempt to aid another, but he shouldn't be the first to speak.
Or, something else, if you have your own inspiration.

![]() |

^Heh, I don't think any of us have ranks in Bluff and only about half of us have a positive charisma modifier. So this should be fun :3

![]() |

Guess we'll have to see if telling the literal truth is enough to shift it over to Diplomacy or if the fact that we're deceiving the efreet will be more important...

![]() |

Oh, yea. Bluff is -3. Kanubis got charisma =5. That's why he burps and farts periodicaly. I have slight idea how talkative person can be nasty. When I perform in Russian, I add an accent, like Caucasian, Georgian or something like this to be more funny and nasty at the same time. But in pbp and in English it is challenging.
I hope we can somehow avoid battle right now. Let's see :)

![]() |

GM, just checking - do you think we'll finish this scenario before the start of Outpost III?

![]() |

Long story short, general player sign-ups are now open and the convention starts March 30th.

![]() |

Right - I’m hoping to play Garduk for the special.

![]() |

Thanks!

I apologize, all - I am at a conference through Saturday afternoon (and trying to remember not to shake hands with people!) - and will have a slightly reduced ability to post.

Safe travels!

Sorry for the long silence - our daughter’s college is closing the dorms and moving classes online and I’ve been distracted with the logistics. We finally decided my wife would just drive out (~900 miles) starting tomorrow, help her pack, then drive her back with her stuff. Our son’s high school is still open (for now), but other stuff is getting cancelled left and right. Working on catching up on my games today and tomorrow.

![]() |

Ughhh, hang in there!

![]() |

That's just awful - I'm sure your daughter really appreciates the help!

![]() |

Things are getting nasty around all over the Earth with this virus.
Economics falling as well. Here in Russia with new Putin's gambit it feels especially terrifying.
Hold on. And look for online options of education.

GM MindXing |

Yesterday we got the "work from home" order. My whole office is working from home for four weeks now.

So because I am a caregiver for my 81 year old mother who has weak lungs I told my work I would stay only one more week before I begin to work from home. We have no "known" cases of the virus here in Alabama yet. But I am unwilling to take a chance exposing myself as it would be a death sentence for my mother. I am retiring in 16 weeks anyway I may have just retired early. :)

![]() |

Thanks, everyone. We’re fortunate that my wife is able to make the trip. We were told yesterday afternoon that our office was going to be closed for “deep cleaning” through at least next week due to someone coming down with COVID-19, but I suspect it will be longer than that.
K’Anubis, I thought of you when I saw the new laws had passed. Hope you stay safe.

Checking in. I feel like things have kinda gone off the rails a bit for us in-game but sometimes the best stories are made when things go sideways :3

![]() |

I have to admit, I've had trouble focusing on my games this first week of everyone being home. Shooting to do better starting this weekend.
Hope you all stay safe and well.

![]() |

Thanks for running a great game in a tough time, GM MindXing, and thanks to my fellow players for making it so much fun to play.

![]() |

Yes, thank you GM! I enjoyed the game(s) very much and hope to see some of my fellow players again at other tables in the future :)

![]() |

Agreed - thanks for the games!

GM MindXing |

Working on the chronicles. Do you guys have any idea what I should put for Event and Event Code? Should I just use the Game Day VII codes? Seems like we're a loooong way from that.

![]() |

I don't think our second game fell under the Gameday event code so easiest thing to do would be to create your own 'event'. A lot of GMs do this and just report any games run outside of conventions to that particular event code.

GM MindXing |

Yeah, I did create my own code -- at one time -- just don't remember how to find it. I'll poke around.
Uh. That was easy. Found it...

GM MindXing |

BTW, last time I filled out chronicles it was maddening. This time I grabbed foxit. Super easy. Why is Adobe still around????

![]() |

All looks good to me :-)
Thanks again!

![]() |

O wonder why OOC gold in chronicle sheet. Is it correct and we went through low-tier?
It was fun to play with you, guys! Thank you! I hope you haven't regret about K'Anibis joining at second part!
My geshtalt finally closed after couple of years holding him at level 9 and await for Forged in Flames arc ending!
If you have any suggestions how I can improve grappler - feel free to write!

![]() |

Based on this post on the previous page of Discussion it looks like we definitely played up. So I think everyone but Kanubis and myself would've gotten OOS gold anyway. That being said yeah, Kanubis' and my chronicles look like they need to be corrected to receive in-tier gold.
Other than that though, my chronicle looks fine :)

![]() |

Thanks for running, If we played up, and I thought we did, they the higher tier gear should be available on the chronicle as well, right?
