K'Anubis still holds salamander body want to check his condition and stabilize Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
He looks at Azers not kindly at all and steps further from them.
Dwarven gaze means that it gonna be not professional and foolish if they continue agression.

![]() |

Tarragon drops out of rage, shrinking to normal size and advances to defend K'Anubis. His posture is defensive and not so threatening.

![]() |

Garduk translates Brady's and Kulga's promises of pain yet to come into Ignan and delays to see what the azers do in response.

![]() |

"እኛ ጉዳት ለማድረስ እዚህ አይደለንም ፣ ቃል እገባለሁ! ግን የሽርሽር ህይወትን የበለጠ በጣም አስቸጋሪ ለማድረግ አስበናል - እርሶዎን እንወዳለን እንወዳለን ግን እርስዎ ከቆሙ እርስዎም በመተውዎ ደስ ብሎናል!" Nella also rattles off quickly, holding up her hands to show that she doesn't want to be a threat to the slaves.
"We aren't here to hurt you, I promise! But we do aim to make the Cinderfurys' lives a lot more difficult - we'd love your help but we're also happy to leave you out of it if you'll stand down!"
Diplomacy (?): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
______________
I know you normally can't use Diplomacy in battle but Nella would really rather not have to beat up the slaves if it can be avoided; feel free to use or ignore her check as the situation dictates~

GM MindXing |

Seeing their master fall, the Azers pause in their attack. They look at each other and seem to consider the words from Garduk and Nella. The leader of the Azer group addresses Garduk and Nella. "თქვენ დაამარცხეთ ჰსალკარ. რა გინდა ჩვენთან?" All of the Azers lower their weapons but keep them at the ready. They have a nervous look about them. One of the smaller ones glances at the scattered sheets of metal paper on the floor.
You have defeated Hsalkar. What do you want with us?
Out of round time.

![]() |

Garduk translates the azers' question for the rest of the group.
"I'm going to ask them to tell us everything they know about the Cinderfurys' security arrangements," he growls.
"გვითხარით ყველაფერი, რაც იცით უსაფრთხოების საკითხებზე Cinderfury ოჯახისთვის."

![]() |

Maybe you could pick up some useful and interesting documents currently to occadion here inside? So, this will help them to hope for better live. - ask K'Anubis for translation.

![]() |

"Here, I'll see what they are," Nella responds, carefully - still keeping her hands visible - edging over to where the papers lie scattered on the floor. Assuming it doesn't provoke too strong of a reaction, she kneels down to pick them up and have a look at their contents.

![]() |

While Nella deals with the papers, and Garduk explains to these fire-mad ur-dwarfs, Kulga busies herself by tossing the rest of the office for anything of use.

![]() |

K'Anubis ties up the salamander with good manacles. He surely leave alive and stbilizedz but not contious.
Seems like he is a Master of pcking things...even with unusual form.
Meanwhile the Living Monolith reduces to a normal size of lean dwarf.
Maybe Azers will provide us with estates plan?

![]() |

Maybe Azers will provide us with estates plan?
"Good thinking, K'Anubis. I'll ask."

GM MindXing |

Nella collects the sheets of metal paper and begins scanning them. Within just a few moments she gets the gist of the contents. They are communications between these azers and another group called the Eye of the Red Worm.
The azers seemed intimidated and cowed by the Pathfinders' presence and the leader respond to Garduk. "ჩვენ გვინდა მხოლოდ წამოსვლა. უბრალოდ გაუშვით და ჩვენ არ ვეტყვით Cinderfurys თქვენს შესახებ. ჩვენ ვართ უსაფრთხოების ზომები კონდერფურისთვის. ახლა სამკვიდროში ბევრი ვართ, მაგრამ მონებიც არიან." He pauses for a second, gathering courage. "შენთვის რთული კომპონენტის რუქას დავადგენ."
The azers are hesitant to provide more help and they just look eager to leave.

![]() |

"I can't make much sense of this but it looks like these fellows have been communicating with some group called the Eye of the Red Worm," Nella explains after flipping through the documents. "Anyone got any idea who they are? Because I sure don't. But I'd guess that these azers weren't supposed to be communicating with them, given how that salamander was acting."
Deciding that it might be best to leave further negotiations to Garduk for the time being, Nella quickly translates the words of the azers for the benefit of the others.
"They say they're the security arrangements for the Cinderfurys and that there are a few more of their number at the estate right now - but all of them are really just slaves, when you come right down to it. They've agreed to draw us a map of the compound but otherwise they'd really just like for us to let them leave."
______________
Since Nella's helping translate, feel free to read the two Ignan spoilers in the GM's last post.

"Anything we can give to the other Azers to show them we let you walk away?"

![]() |

Using Profession Merchant instead of Local. Exchange with Ki Power: 1d20 + 20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 20 + 4 = 38
The dwarf shares what just remind:
The Eye of the Red Worm is a secretive group of free azers. Interfereing ecnomics thoug. They are located somewhere in the Common Quarter and that worships a great fire worm said to possess ancient teleportation magic. They provide unsanctioned transportation into and out of the City of Brass. So, might be used for contrabanda and freeing slaves. Not bad. Tell them we would loike to have a future contact with this Red Worm's Eye. After they provide the map or agrees to borrow for proper documents.

![]() |

"Huh...I'm not really uh, sure about the 'worshipping a great fire worm' but if they're not into dealing with slaves or slavery then they can't be that bad," Nella remarks, looking thoughtful. "And Kanubis has a good point; sounds like a group we may want to keep in mind in the future."

![]() |

Garduk translates Kulga's question for the azers while they draw the map, and asks if the Cinderfurys have any other protection beyond the azers, such as traps or magical wards.
"არსებობს რამე, რაც შეგვიძლია მივცეთ სხვა აზერს, რომ ვაჩვენოთ, რომ ჩვენ მოგვშორდით? უნდა შეგხვდეთ წითელი ჭიის მთავარ ოფისში? და Cinderfurys- ს სხვა დაცვა აქვთ? ხაფანგები, ჯადოსნური პალატები, მსგავსი რამე?"

![]() |

Brady's interest is immediately piqued with Kanubis' description of the Eye of the Red Worm. "I would dearly love to make contact with them!" He pauses briefly, then scrambles. "I wonder if we might even be able to tap their transportation magics to get into the estate..." he adds, almost as an afterthought.

GM MindXing |

After handing over the map, the lead azer watches the Pathfinders and finally screws up his courage. "ვინ ხარ და რატომ შეუტიე ჰსალკარს? რატომ გჭირდებათ რუკა?" When Garduk mentions setting the other azers free, flames atop the mercenary leader's head flare up a bit.
The other azers look excited. It seems that for the first time in months, they have hope of freedom. One of the mercenaries pipes up, "კომანდორ, იქნებ თქვენ უნდა უთხრათ ხაფანგების შესახებ." Axuztu nods and continues. "რამდენიმე კარი შიგნიდან არის საშიში ხაფანგები." He points to several doors leading off of the main room on the first floor.
"თუ ეს ყველაფერია, ახლა შეგვიძლია წავიდეთ?" Axuztu and the others look eager to leave.
"Who are you and why did you attack Hsalkar? Why do you need a map?"
"You are going to free them? My name is, Axuztu, you can tell them that you released us. They will believe you. The Cinderfurys hold an artifact called Flamebinder's Jaw. This is very meaningful to all of us enslaved azers. If the azers at the estate seem hesitant, tell them I told you about it. Then they will for sure believe you. They'll probably go straight to the Eye of the Red Worm."
"Commander, maybe you should tell them about the traps."
"A couple of the inside doors are warded with dangerous traps."
"If that's everything, can we go now?"

![]() |

Kanubis burps with pleasure-doing-business face and says: I like the way we get along with these flame-smithy people. They are useful. Hope a can handle some sort of deal here. Tell them I am sorry for pooling water at the face. Not as polite as hammering feet.

![]() |

Nella considers the azers' first question, glancing at her companions.
"Well, they've already seen us so in for a penny, in for a pound, maybe?"
"მოდით, ვთქვათ, რომ ჩვენ დავალებული გვაქვს დაუმტკიცებინა ქალაქი, რომ კონფერფურიები ძალიან ცუდი იყო," she answers, still trying to be somewhat vague - both for the azers' sakes as well as herself and her companions. She continues to translate back and forth for the benefit of the group.
"Ah, let's just say that we've been tasked with proving to the city that the Cinderfurys have been very naughty."

![]() |

Garduk translates the azers' questions and K'Anubis's apology, then says, "I think we've gotten enough information here, right? We ought to let these people get on their way and get on ours."
Once his translation duties are complete, the scrawny half-orc pulls his spellbook from his haversack and starts paging through it.
"I'm going to replace one or two of the spells I prepared this morning," he says to Nella. "I could study a spell that will turn someone invisible for a few minutes, but I already prepared a spell that does the same thing for about thirty seconds. If that's good enough, maybe I should study a spell that opens locks instead?"
OK team: I can replace false life with invisibility or knock; Garduk already has vanish prepared, so I'm leaning towards knock but still undecided. Any thoughts?

![]() |

"Hmm...I think having a not-destructive way to open locks might not be a bad idea," Nella remarks after thinking it over for a moment. "I'm certainly no good at picking locks and I'm not really sure that anyone else here is, either."

![]() |

Kulga nods curtly, "Someone should be able to handle a lock, even if it's with a spell."

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yea, we let them go and proceed here. But the salamander will come with us. Whether is she willing or not. As for spell, I agree, without a good burglar - Knock might be handy here.
K'Anubis puts out an adamantine crowbar with engraved "Trusty Buddy" just to give to Brady or Tarragon.
This crowbar provides +4 bonus to force opening Strength checks
And the dwarf is ready to move after taking look at the estates plan.

![]() |

Brady dry washes his hands before balling one into a fist. "This is how I open locks," he says with a chuckle. "You're right... not too sneaky that way."
He waves off the crowbar, though, drawing a traveler's any-tool from his bag. "This does for a crowbar, though, and many other things as well," he concludes, twisting and bending into a nice sturdy crowbar with a forked end.

![]() |

"What do we do with the salamander when we get to the estate?" Nella asks of Kanubis, genuinely curious as to what the dwarf might have in mind. "Are we going to frame her somehow or just tie her up and hide her in a closet when we get there and get inside?"

![]() |

Both options sound well, Nella. Not sure if she could be a negotiation arguement. Os it might be better to hold her aside. Are here any closet around?
In general Kanubis prefer to hold the salamander in manacles and uncontious in any hide spot nearby.

![]() |

"Why would we bring the salamander to the estate? Let's let the azers go and leave the salamander here. Let's not make this harder than it needs to be."

GM MindXing |

Bringing the salamander with you is an interesting choice, usually we just defeat the bad guys and then leave. I'm curious to see where the IC interaction goes here. But either way, I'll post an update later today.

![]() |

This is controller and merchant style - to gather goods and hostages for better negotiation position. So I think Kanubis will take the salamander if there is no safe place nearby.

![]() |

Garduk studies his spellbook for a few seconds while the other Pathfinders discuss the salamander's fate, then slams the volume shut and hops off the desk.
"There, that's done. For what it's worth, I don't think the Cinderfurys are going to bargain with us over a security consultant they don't usually allow into their house, but as long as I don't have to carry her..."

GM MindXing |

I don't want to squash interesting RP so I think I'll let this go a bit longer before moving us all forward. So far we have K'Anubis wants to bring the salamanger, Tarragon doesn't, Garduk doesn't care, Nella is curious, Brady is skeptical, and Kulga hasn't said anything. I think I'll follow the rule of three for this. Once I get three votes then I'll take that.
Garduk finishes up discussions with the azers and then sends them on their way. They seem more than eager to leave.
The Pathfinders find themselves torn now. K'Anubis, relying on his instincts, wants to bring the poor creature along as a bargaining chip. Others raise questions about how exactly this will work and how it will look. They don't yet seem to be in agreement.

![]() |

Kanubis looks nervous about spending time, still he hopes to push his team with reasonable thinking.
Ok, here are some arguemenents why should we take the salamander alive.
First. We should leave no trail, so I suggest we also clear blood spilled here.
Second. Creature costs more while they alive.
Third. I got her and I need her for future negotiation.
Taragon, you wanna murder defenseless creature? Do you worship Damerich? We are who cooperate, explore and report. And not those who destroy and execute. If you are ready to commit this act, feel free. But not before you answer how you gonna hide the body there after. Otherwise I can carry her.
Kanubis is low strength dwarf, but wear muleback cords, so it will be fine to carry the body. The Monolith clears his wearings with some magic and listens for other opinions.

![]() |

"The Cinderfury's don't seem the type to mend a tool once its been broken." Kulga rolls her eyes. "As long as you don't fall behind, carry whatever you like, but if we killed her and left her here, I doubt anyone would find her before we were finished and gone."

![]() |

Tarragon looks annoyed. No, I do not want to kill her. But we know what she is. Leaving her alive may be more evil than the alternative. But I clearly stated I am fine just leaving her. Stop hearing only what you want to hear.

![]() |

"This is ridiculous. Kill the salamander or leave it behind; I don't care. It'd be safer to kill it, though; dead bodies tell no tales. I'll do the dirty work if you're squeamish about it, but we can't just drag a body through the streets on our way to a break-in. We're going to need stealth in this operation; bodies draw attention." He shakes his head. "K'Anubis, if you want to interrogate the salamander, do it here and let's be done with it, but I think we've learned what we need to know already from the azers. Let's get on with this."
One hard vote for killing the salamander; a soft vote for leaving it behind bound and gagged. A clear NO for carrying it with us.

![]() |

Kanubis being dissapointed finds a place behind sofa and put incontious salamander there, without bounds. He still respects team decisions and mood.
So, if we cleared this place and look around anougth -the Monolith ready to processing.

![]() |

"For the best, I think," Nella remarks with a sigh of relief as the group seems to finally come to something of a compromise regarding the salamander's fate. "Slaver or not, we probably want to try and avoid killing anyone if we can help it. Um, self-defense is another matter though, of course - we can't accomplish our mission here if we're dead."
"Anyway, let's make tracks before anything else happens..."

![]() |

"Agreed." Garduk looks relieved as well, although it's unclear whether it stems from the consensus not to kill the unconscious salamander or the decision not to draw attention to the group by carrying her through the streets. "We had better get going. Sand is moving through that four-hour glass faster than I'd like."
Garduk checks to be sure he still has his token from their employer and heads for the door.

GM MindXing |

Reluctantly, K'Anubis stashes the still limp body of Hsalkar behind a couch. He removes the manacles and returns them to a pouch on his belt. The other team members, especially Nella and Garduk, seem to be relieved to be done with the salamander. Everyone gathers their gear and moves out to the street. It only takes a moment to find the Cinderfury location on the map and then only a few minutes to travel there.
The manor itself, Emberhearth, has an old world feel compared to the other buildings that line the streets in The City of Brass. It's clear that it represents 'old blood'. Brass bricks make up the entirety of this almost ostentatious edifice. Fiery motifs, gem inlays, and vines made entirely of flame snake their way across the building’s facade. Ornate, brass railings corral visitors toward a pair of massive bronze doors.
You locate a faint foot trail leading from the railings out front to a nearby window and then to the east side of Emberhearth.
You determine the footprints (see above spoiler) came from a single, medium creature.
Slides updated. You are standing outside the Ciderfurry manor.

He will carefully follow the trail tryin not to show his bald head at windows.
I moved my token. I hope, its is the East to follow the right side.

![]() |

Don't forget - everyone's got a +4 to their Stealth, and gets to halve their ACP for it. So that's 25 for Kanubis and 20 for Brady!
"Looks like someone else is spying on the Cinderfuries. They're about dwarf-sized, and they're alone."

"Whoever they are, I hope they'll be on our side if our paths cross..." Nella mutters as she tucks the hood of her robe up over her head and tries to quickly and lightly follow the others towards the eastern side of the manor.
