I tend to take the attitude that we’re going to get to them all anyway, so whatever preferences others have is fine with him.
Also he’s too stuck in a hug to have an opinion :P Do lion people have an inventory slot in their mane, like a ysoki cheek pouch?
Roark Thunderbird

either one is fine for Roark.

In my head canon, Jinglemane stores his thaumaturge esoterica in his mane. :)

What did you do to the GM and/or dice that someone died in 1-01?

It is easy for the wrong group to have a lot of trouble with the ritual battle, especially if they underestimate the initial danger. The longer that goes on, the more likely that the flawed ritual will hit someone with damage after they go down.
Jinglemane

The ritual in 1-01 is the deadliest fight in any repeatable.

The dice was really unlucky. Also the Blakros Museum ritual is deadly at lvl 1. It's one reason why I won't play 01-01 again...
Roark barely survived (and this was when Tengus weren't free). Another PC I was playing at that time also barely survived.

I'm good with the order Kit proposed:
An Old Acquaintance
Lair 1
Lair 2
Lair 3
The Dead Streets

@GM
So the availability of Reactions at the start of combat is a GM call. There is no hard rule like there was in PF1.
Do you generally allow reactions before your first turn? Do you in this case?
Since we have a swashbuckler in the group that just got critically missed, I figured it was a good question.
| cmlobue |
Yes, take your reaction. Swash those buckles!

May we have the list of Act 3 encounters so we may plan ahead?

Depot Mission 1: Hospital Hustle Skill Challenge
Depot Mission 2: Monkeying Around Roleplay/Skill Challenge
Depot Mission 3: Gone but not Forgotten Skill Challenge/Hazard
Depot Mission 4: Dispatching the Dispatch Combat Encounter
Depot Mission 5: Etched in Wood and Metal Hazard
———
I have now played through this adventure at an in-person game. I don’t recall if any of them were locked behind announcements.
Would someone else like to rank the missions? If no one else wants to, I will.
Jinglemane

For personal reasons, Jinglemane would like to do Depot Mission 1 and Depot Mission 3.
Roark Thunderbird

Roark is fine following his new friends...

Alright, how about this order then:
Depot Mission 1: Hospital Hustle Skill Challenge
Depot Mission 3: Gone but not Forgotten Skill Challenge/Hazard
Depot Mission 4: Dispatching the Dispatch Combat Encounter
Depot Mission 5: Etched in Wood and Metal Hazard
Depot Mission 2: Monkeying Around Roleplay/Skill Challenge
I think we should be able to get to the combat and may be able to finish it. We can see if we get further than that.

Dreggar crawls around on the floor of the ward, peeking under the beds - searching for any reticent dolls who may not like musical theater.
Dolls not liking musical theater? Heresy!
And now I should see if there are any good songs to parody from the musical Guys and Dolls...

The PCs need to achieve three Hard successes using Acrobatics, Arcana, Athletics, Nature, Occultism, Religion, or a relevant Lore check. Only one PC may roll to “lead” these checks, but all of the other characters may attempt to Aid. A dispel magic spell with the subtle trait counts as an automatic success.
——
My best skill for this is religion.
I could Aid in Acrobatics, Nature or Religion.
Dreggar could Aid in Arcana, Athletics, Occultism.
His and my Acrobatics and Nature are the same so either of us could attempt it. Aid is a circumstance bonus, so multiple attempts do not stack although as long as people don’t crit fail there is no penalty.
Does anyone have equal or better than a +15 in one of the listed skills?
Jinglemane
|
And Jinglemane in Athletics. But only one person can lead all three checks which makes 0 sense. So I'm letting Kit roll and I'll aid her.

I was wondering this myself.
GM, could you please explain it to us?
Does it have to be the same person doing 2 to 3 checks? I’m assuming that a critical success would be worth two successes. Getting to three with only one person rolling seems strange.
Roark Thunderbird
|
+15 Acrobatics.
| cmlobue |
Yes, I checked with the house. This task has to be completed in multiple rounds. Each round, one person makes a primary check and others may aid.
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq
|
Alright, thanks for the explanation.
Sort of a weird mechanic. From your explanation though, it doesn’t always have to be the same person leading it.
| cmlobue |
No, but it has to be just one person per round.

One hero point for everyone, because otherwise I will forget and not hand out any.

I’ve added it to slide 2 since that is how I’ve been tracking mine.

No, but it has to be just one person per round.
Oh, then we might have enough primary rolls for several rounds already

Kit finished that challenge. Other than one bad roll, she managed the difficulty without needing an Aid.

If we come through the skylight, two questions:
Can Roark (and anyone else with Cat Fall feat) roll Acrobatics for initiative?
Can we drop a knotted rope to make it possible to climb down with a sufficient Athletics check? It should only take a single action to descend since anyone can drop the last 5’ without injury or a check.
| cmlobue |
Looking over the map again, I don't think the intent was there to be platforms. There is just a second story around the outside, and you would be entering near the stairs down from it. My apologies.
Roark Thunderbird

Is the second story 10' above the first?

Hello. This is an FYI that I'll be away in nature starting this coming Friday 10/17, returning Sunday 10/19 when I will catch up and resume posting.
As always my hope is that since this is a weekend the disruption will be minimal to none. Bot as necessary.

Underground Mission 1: Press the Advantage Combat Encounter
Underground Mission 2: Literal Pathfinding Skill Challenge
Underground Mission 3: Shut it Down! Chase Encounter
Underground Mission 4: House of Mirrors Roleplay/Combat Encounter
Since Hilary and I will likely be busy much of the day, perhaps start with Mission 2?
That one should be the easiest if someone needs to bot either of us.
If someone else can come up with the order for the rest of it, that would be appreciated. Doubt that I will have time and I’m fine with any order.

Poor GM, this is "that" table.
=)
My vote is, descending order:
Underground Mission 4: House of Mirrors (RP/combat)
Underground Mission 1:Press the Advantage (combat)
Underground Mission 2: Literal Pathfinding (skill)
Underground Mission 3: Shut it Down! (chase)
EDIT: Crosspost - any order is fine with me!
Jinglemane

Kit and I will go with Rainrax's order to speed up things!
| cmlobue |
Yes, the trap activates by being noticed.
And while I have a suspicion what way things will go, this is a significant decision for the team. I will wait for at least four votes for the same option before proceeding. If you are tied 3-3, you get to discuss amongst yourselves until someone changes their mind. There is no time pressure for this, other than the end of the event.
Roark Thunderbird

any order is fine with me, but Roark will follow Kit/Jinglemane :)

So if no time pressure, perhaps Voron has time to complete a full Detect Magic.
