Pnin |

Pnin works on the door:
DisableDevice: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Gonna use Inspired Trait here:
Benefit: Once per day as a free action, roll twice and take the better result on a skill check or ability check.
DisableDevice: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22

Pnin |

Not trying to whinge . . . but how does the Inspired trait work. Not sure I would've used it if I thought the trap would still be triggered . . . oh wait was it triggered by the second roll????
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 + Evasion = No Damage: -8/45 HP
Assuming I still need to disable the door:
DisableDevice: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
Of course . . . a 1 and a 20 on the same lock/trap

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

San looks at his blade closer....and wonders... hmmmmmmm lead blades.....interesting....my sword seemed to bite a bit deeper....

Kael Cullen |

-9/50HP
Won't help to save this if we die before we use it.
Goddess...
Another burst of healing energy radiates from Kael as he reaches for his holy symbol.
3/6 channel heal: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1) = 8

Pnin |

Both your rolls failed, if the second had succeeded you would not have triggered the trap.
Yep, blame it on shoddy, whiney, 1 AM thinking. Thanks for confirming
Full HP
Looking at his scorched companions: Sorry friends, this forsaken place seems to have brought a string of bad nerves with these traps.
Onward Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

thats ok Pnin....ive been told i look younger without eyebrows....it becomes us.....henceforth we shall be known as the browless brawlers..thank you as always Kael for your goddesses blessing....

Pnin |

Pnin proceeds cautiously down the slope (as long as it is still easily walkable in both directions. If not, Pnin will tie a rope and descend trailing a rope.
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32

Kael Cullen |

Kael pauses-Pnin, let's check that other door before heading down the passage. Hate to leave something behind we might need or might be a threat.
Curral, can you please detect magic about this laboratory to make sure there are no other items of value?

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

sanrael looks at the items on the table....and at the table itself
perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32

Kael Cullen |

Kael motions at Pnin-Hold on a second there Pnin. I'm certainly no engineer or architect, but I think that door leads to the pit of undead we passed over earlier. Unless San is still feeling particularly spunky, we should just leave it alone for now. Maybe we can come back and clear it out. Like I said, I don't care to leave enemies behind, especially those that might be a future menace to other less well equipped and prepared individuals.
In the meantime, I guess we can finish seeing where the other tunnel gets us.
Lead on Pnin!

Pnin |

Lightheartedly, almost kvetching: Pnin wait, open this door instead . . . Pnin wait, don't open this door . . . I mean I buy your logic well enough. I just find your advice humorous at times.
Back down the slope!
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37

Kael Cullen |

Kael thinks about it for a moment-I hear your jest, but you are right. The duty of being first to the door is a heavy one and filled with myriad dangers. I honor your willingness to take the risk and will be more mindful of that burden in the future.
Unless I think you should open a different door first.-Kael chuckles at his small joke.

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

perhaps you two should get a room at a cozy little tavern next time were in town... Sanrael laughs.....

Kael Cullen |

Kael takes a long look at the webs and surrounding area (take 10) before heading towards them with a lit torch and some oil-Give me a few minutes and I'll burn these out. Maybe we somehow got down to the level where those other spiders were.
perception for danger or valuables: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Pnin |

Yes, I was thinking about fire . . .
Thinking about webs and spiders and misadeventures: Knowledge Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Taking a closer look at the webs with Kael: Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (4) + 23 = 27

Kael Cullen |

Are there any doors or passageways that we have missed, or is this the only way forward?
Assuming there is no other way but through the webs:
Kael looks at Pnin-Spiders, not your favorite I know. Give me a moment.
He then steps forward a few paces, clearly showing the torch and oil, and calls out to the creatures in the webs-I see you skulking in there, creatures. If you can understand me then know this-I have no reason to kill you and destroy your nest, but if you do not let us pass through unmolested I will have no choice but to destroy you and all you hold dear.
What do you decide?
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Pnin |

The knowledge check didn't get anything? Weaknesses? sigh
I say we try to light them up. Of course, we might have to deal with flaming spiders attacking us . . . Pnin shakes his head at the notion

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

Sanrael uses his wild empathy skill......to try to soften them up
wild empathy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Sanrael Bloodthorn |

he speaks truth...we need not destroy you....and upon our return we will bring you an offering....let us pass
