Kenji lofts a brow at the man's reticence in answering the second question put to him... and restates it... "You didn't answer the lady's other question - why were you tracking a satyr?"

GM Chyro |

*Cough..cough*
Ah, that one. If you didn't hear it previously, we fend off the fey in return. Just as much as..*cough cough*...they attack us, we try to ambush them in return. Any fey less attacking us, the better."

![]() |

"have you ever tried befriending the fey and making them allies instead of enemies?"

GM Chyro |

"You know, if that would've been remotely possible from the beginning, it'd have spared us a whole lot of trouble. Us laborers didn't start this, the fey came upon us in anger out of nowhere, the gavel's made the policy of sending out groups of us to strike back at the fey who attacked us. It's a mess i don't know the start of."

![]() |

"They might feel the same way - thinking you folk started it by coming into their territory... Hard to find common ground that way. That's a shame, really. Like you said... a mess."

![]() |

"Well it seems we should go and investigate this grove then, so we can find out whats going on from the other party?"

GM Chyro |

Ok.
Misc roll: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Vanick takes you for a walk to the grove.
Contrary to his own worry, no fey ambush parties appear while you do.
Eventually you come to a grove, where three figures in various spots are tending to colorful flowers.
The approach?

![]() |

Sele strides forward waves and says
"Hello"

GM Chyro |

Okidoki...
The three look up, then walk to the center of the grove.
"You are trespassing...."

Keera directs Alacorta to fly to the nearest enemy, while she herself draws her ranged weapon.

Keera Kn. Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

The evil hippies carried no notes or orders.
Vanick: "Shall we go to town now?
*Cough cough*.....It's only half a day from here."
Alacorta and Kenji take 1 cha dmg from the plague.

![]() |

"Yes lets go"
Dragging the semi-druid with me.

![]() |

I assume that a direct affect on a stat means by now he knows he's infected in some way? If that's the case, then he'll say something about it.. if not, he'll remain silent for now.

GM Chyro |

I imagine you wouldn't see it directly, you've only recently been infected and for now it's just 1 cha dmg.
Now if we're talking CON dmg, however, then it'd seem more plausible.
Before leaving, Keera uses the wand of CLW.
Alacorta: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Alacorta: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Alacorta: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Alacorta is back to full hp.
----------------------------
True enough, about half a day later, you arrive at the town of Falcon's Hollow. Laborers are walking around with wood on wagons and a dog barks as it chases a cat.
Vanick points you to a shop, where outside several people are standing outside, pale and feverish looking.
Creeping ivy and full window boxes cover the facade of this rugged-looking, two-story shop, which bears the faded sign "Roots and Remedies."
The small, mud-tracked shop smells of burnt earth and spicy incense. Bunches of dried herbs, dangling pots, and drawstring pouches hang from the ceiling, and a cauldron bubbles softly on a table next to strange
presses and alchemical apparatuses.
A young woman with medium long brown hair and spectacles stands behind the counter. "Hello, how can i help you?"

![]() |

"Good afternoon, mi amor!", Vassago bowing before the young woman. "I am Vassago Ilsidore, and my companions and I wish to try and cure the disease that plagues this land. We have been told your apothecary skills are second to none here, no?"

GM Chyro |

The woman looks surprised at Vassago's gesture.
"Oh my....thank you....and, yes, but mainly because there are no others with an apothecary background.
Quite frankly, i've got my hands full as of late, with an unknown disease spreading like wildfire around town. People turn pale, feverish, rashes and coughing."
She looks troubled...
"Though i'm versed in the treatment of many ailments, this is completely new to me. Yet with so many ill i have little time to try and find a cure, or in the least, something to help their fortitude to fend it off."
----------------------------
This is a skills based encounter.
Laurel has a -20 penalty against treating the plague.
You guys can each roll 3 checks against DC 22, for a plausible or logical way to help Laurel's knowledge in finding a treatment.
No skill check can be of the same sort for 1 person, however you can take 10 on the checks. If several of you make for example the same sort, no problem, but each can't use the skill more than once.
For each successful check, Laurel gets a +2 to all her next heal checks.
Be creative ;)
With having traveled for a long time, the day leaves each of you 1 check today, the others you can make the following day.

![]() |

Kenji suggests, since a cough seems to be part of the problem, that perhaps if she includes licorice root in the cure, it will at least help alleviate the cough...
heal check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

![]() |

Ideas: Heal check to identify symptoms of the disease from the person we have. Kn: Nature to identify the plant being used for the plague's release. Survival to look for ingredients?

![]() |

"But this is a wasting disease, so some sort of anti-necrotoxin should also help.", adds Vassago.
Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
GM Reroll w/ +4 bonus: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 4 = 23
That's better!

![]() |

Ahh, sorry, I call it a GM reroll since I get a bonus for having GM stars. For having a Player Character Folio or a Special T-shirt, you can get 1 d20 reroll per scenario. Furthermore, if you have GM stars, you add the number of stars to the reroll as well. I be a four star GM, so an extra +4 for the clutch roll! If you need proof, I can send a picture of myself in a GenCon GM goblin t-shirt :)

![]() |

Sele takes to the streets asking people of knowledge about these flowers and the pestilence and possible ways to cure it and then he returns to Laurel and the group to report his findings
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Help to get me to 22?

![]() |

Bah! Stupid scenario taking out teamwork aspect of game

GM Chyro |

It assumes the PCs each spend an independent action for a successful aiding of Laurel.

GM Chyro |

I've played this at the very 1st 'normal' PF game i've been in (non-PFS).
Of course, we were just lvl 1 or 2 back then. I made fun of the deputy's hand axe and our alchemist ended up with Laurel, when he decided to step out. We've just taken down the evil gavel, wuhahaha payback's good.

![]() |

Laurel, there´s a story I was told some years ago, as I was in the wilderness learning about the local animals and plants. My mentor told my about a disease the strucks our community when she was young.
According to her story, some people travelled to search a rare plant. All the day, and all the night it looks like normal grass. But in the sunset the flowers of this plant opens, for a few moments, just the time the sun needs to hide completely. It´s said to have great propierties against disease, and that´s the reason she told me the story and show me the only specimen she had. Now if I could describe it well enough to you, and you have it…
K. nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 But the description is not good enough to differentiate the plant of the many herbs Laurel has
