GM Chyro |
I'm hoping we can finish soon, we're past gameday's (official end date atm) :P
GM Chyro |
Alexandre: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Haplo: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Hatsumoto: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Scratcher: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Xasay: 1d20 ⇒ 18
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 4
No boons, sadly.
Btw, Haplo and Alexandre, can you please give me your PCs PFS info.
Even though we're past the official end date of gameday, i can report while we're still busy, but i'll need that info.
Alexandre D'Alycone |
Ah sorry, I've been bad about that, partly because of the possibility that the parries aren't used. Let me fix that.
As for my PFS info, I posted it at the beginning in Recruitment.
Haplo of the Scrolls |
Btw, should we surrender or continue? If Haplo can get a charge or two the fight could swing easily, if Chyro kepts critting not so much. BUt we have one dead and two tettering. Haplo isn't impressed with this mission either as a task.
He could also flee and try to draw them away from Xasay to allow him to recover the others but we are still down Alexandre in that case.
Xasay Xyu |
Um...s&!!!!!
I've been otherwise-occupied the past few days, (as well as having two days in a row with extended power outages), and this is what I come back to?!? Thank goodness I AM still invisible.
Well, Haplo, it's up to us Wayang, shall we do it "the Wayang way"? Can you disappear somehow?
@DM: I'll try to keep clear in advance this time; what would it take for the remaining enemies not to hear me cast spells (how far away, etc)?
I'm thinking of renewing my invisibility, then stabilizing Scratcher on our way out (plans still subject to change, now's the discussion phase).
GM Chyro |
@ Haplo,
While they would likely chase you around the house if you don't surrender, it's highly unlikely they'd leave the house itself at this point.
@ Xasay,
The blackjacket who's kindly suggesting Haplo surrender will not require too high a DC to hear you at your current position.
The guy near you will very likely hear you and would relay any suspicious activity to his comrade. That said, hearing you and catching you are two different things.
Also, as a slight hint, time is not on your side. High profile estate, just 7 guards? Time consuming plans will worsen your chances.
GM Chyro |
Of course. You're sleeping it off atm, though.
GM Chyro |
Xasay,
The act of moving through an enemy square is mentioned at the acrobatics page. Looks pretty clear for me. I'd say a +2 bonus for being invisible, but rolling for it nonetheless.
I'd be surprised if anyone hasn't seen a thread where reality vs game mechanics is discussed, only for it to turn out as 'game trumps reality'.
And you got a halberd in your house, just like that?
:o

Fair enough (well, not quite, I'd say a +4 would be appropriate, but whatever). Done. :)
And you got a halberd in your house, just like that?
:o
Yes I do; imported from the Tower of London, in fact!
I've amassed a pretty nifty weapon collection over the years: that halberd, a little trident, a whip, a naginata, a POS broken-in-half spear I spent mucho dinero on in f#@!in' TOLEDO!!!, some lovely staves and canes, an axe or two, and a stunning array of swords, daggers, katars, and bladed implements that defy categorization.
GM Chyro |
Wow man.
I've got merely a flintlock replica, a self made longbow and a bokken.
GM Chyro |
Pardon the curiosity, but most of those must be replicas, right?
Or in the least made blunt.
Amassing a weapon collection is not the every day hobby one hears about.
(nor cheap, i imagine)

It certainly isn't cheap, but I've built it up piece by piece over many years (and it has mostly stagnated in the past several, as it happens). A few were gifts, and one of the canes was inherited.
In most cases, the blades are quite 'live' (though I admit I could probably do a better job with upkeep); as for "replicas", I don't know how to answer. It's not like any of them are hundreds and hundreds of years old. A lot of them are the kind of things Kit Rae puts out.
The most expensive one, as I said, was the spear I got when I got to go to Toledo, and I was effectively swindled; I had it shipped back home (at a sizable additional cost, no less) because surely that had to be better than lugging it around for the rest of the trip (don't get me started on "security"), only for it to be broken in half in transit - and all because of some ball-and-socket deal in the center of the shaft made of material so poor, it can't even be repaired by a professional I know! Toledo ought to be ashamed of itself; what a bunch of carnies.
Xasay Xyu |
What's b*$~#&%$ is the way you oscillate between "I've got to play by the RAW even if it doesn't make sense", and "naw, don't worry about RAW, this makes sense", all depending on whichever mentality would be more deleterious to us as players.
This is why I've seen people characterize you (in PMs with me) as a "killer DM"; and the fact certainly is that s$%! goes differently - and reliably worse - in your games than with any other DM on this site.
I've tried to hold off on this, but I shall (again) be bringing in an arbiter.
GM Chyro |
That's not where i was wanting to be characterized to.
I would have preferred PMs from people with constructive criticism instead of dissastisfied players.
We'll wait, nothing else to do.
Xasay Xyu |
They probably figured it was easier (and at a vastly smaller cost to precious, precious time, which is actually about as far from a trivial matter as it gets; I mean, I've been acutely aware of my own mortality since I was 5 years old, but only quite recently have I truly started figuring out that I probably have a right to stand up to people who act like I owe them my time or know better than I how I should spend it) to avoid your games in the future than try to engage you with criticism; you know how it is. Being quick to judge may be a selfish and short-sighted defensive strategy, I know all about being on the other side of that, but dangit if it isn't an efficient and popular one.
GM Chyro |
Yah, conflict's bad for blood pressure. >_>
I get the idea we'd get along better/agree on topics other than pathfinder?
GM Chyro |
Hello all.
The V-team's looking into it, i was told this week there would be a reply soon.
Tyranius |
Greetings all,
As requested the VO team looked over the scenario. It looks to currently be ran as written. This scenario is a tough one as it can go several different ways. Unfortunately yours went one of the bad ones. It can go anywhere from completing the entire scenario without a single fight to what happened here.
On top of that the dice seemed to be intent to put on quite a bit of extra hurt as they failed the party's favor.
While this does happen once in awhile please remember to keep conversations civil and respectful. If you have a reoccurring issue please bring it to our attention and if it is a continuing disagreement between and player and a GM then it may be a good idea to avoid each others tables for a time.
While the continued set of Nat 20's is unfortunate I have had it happen myself. Paizo's dice roller can be quite fickle at times.
If there are any further questions or anything else you wish for us to look into please don't be afraid to shoot me or the rest of the VO Team a PM.
Happy Holidays!

GM Chyro |
I've asked Tyranius, and it turns out his post above was the final outcome.
@ Alexandre, how would you prefer to arrange your revival and level restorations, regarding gold and prestige spent?
@ Everyone, how much prestige do you have? For those in custody, PP is the ticket out.
I will have the chronicles somewhere this week, it'll be a busy one.
Xasay Xyu |

Alexandre D'Alycone |
Just mark him as dead. I don't have the PP/Gold to properly revive without selling off alot of gear.
GM Chyro |
You are certain?
Correct me if i am wrong, but negative levels could likewise be removed later on. And chronicle/dayjob gold can also contribute.
I will have to double check but, as you had cleared most of the manor, that would potentially be a 2000 gp, perhaps a bit more, to contribute.
Alexandre D'Alycone |
Yeah. I only have 15 PP and 1.5k gp at the moment. Have to spend 5 PP on the body recovery, leaving me with 10 PP, I don't have enough, and even if I did, the negative levels would screw me over repeatedly until I could buy them off.
GM Chyro |
Been 0.00 here, so happy new year everyone!
Best of wishes. :)
GM Chyro |
Scratcher, Hatsumoto, i'll need your PP total, to get your chronicles done.
In response to Haplo's offer of a share to help Alexandre, i won't report him deceased just yet, as not everyone has given their thoughts on the matter.
GM Chyro |
@ Alexandre,
Looking back through the guide, raise dead is 5450 gp.
With 1.5k in your budget, and another 2k coming from the chronicle, that leaves 1950gp.
What were Haplo and Xasay considering to donate?
You'd then not need to sell as many items as you might think.
From the 15 PP you have, you would spend 5 PP for body retrieval and, considering that raise dead would get financed with gold, 8 to remove the negative levels.
GM Chyro |
I sent him a PM, just in case he missed updates.
Fyi, i was pondering running Bid on Alabastine soon.
1, YES ONE :), small encounter, but skill checks mainly.
I played this at a con before.
Alexandre D'Alycone |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
With the 2k from Xasay and Haplo, I should be able to get up without selling anything. Thank you both.
The Scratcher |
Yeah, I have enough to chip in for Alexandre
And my PP total is 17, well 12 after body recovery.
Finally, I have read the scenario a few years ago but ended up letting another local GM run it, so I am vaguely aware of the scenario, but haven't played or run it officially, if that's ok GM. Otherwise, it'll be good to curse my dice for sucking instead of yours for being hot :P
GM Chyro |
Sorry for the delay, things got busier than expected.
GM Chyro |
How many of you haven't played the mission yet?
Toral Kargar |
Hello everyone! I hope you are well!
GM Chyro was so kind to allow me to join you.
I woukd play my dwarven shaman for the potential Bid on Alabastine game.
Thanks a lot.
Toral Kargar |
A mesmerizing Zoolander sounds perfect!
GM Chyro |
So that's three on board.
Alexandre, Hatsumoto, have you played it before?
Skills related, it should be doable with the bare minimum, i did as well.
(though we were still 0 XP lvl 1 PCs ^^)
Otherwise i'd hang out a lure at the flaxseed.
