Also wouldn't the prior lightning bolts damaged the bats?

Dr. Vitruvian would breathe a sigh of relief, but is just too uptight for that sort of thing - especially when he is still in the middle of fighting for his survival!

Round 7: I stand up (I don't believe swarms can make attacks of opportunity), regenerate 5 hit points as a free action (healing the bleed), and move as shown.

Round 8: I regenerate another 5 hit points as a free action, don't think I need to roll vs distraction this round having left the swarm area, and toss either a Bomb at red swarm if you rule that targeted bomb admixture doesn't go so far as to make them useless against swarms, or if you rule that it does, I toss a flasks of alchemist's fire, then move afterward.

Since the bats did damage you, you'd need to roll for fort.
You are at 37/45 after your round 8 heal. Mentioned above, round 7 wa 32/45 after bleed and heal took effect.
Targeted bomb admixture would only affect splash dmg on a miss. It's the bomb's hit or miss that matters.

After much zapping and biting from the foes before, Dr. Zephyr stands up, swats around his head against the bats, as he makes his way to the far north of the chamber.

Fort herr Zephyr, 2 neg lvl: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 2 = 17 Pass.

Other things happen as before.

Round 8:

Once in position, Dr. Zephyr lights a fuse on an explosive orb, lobbing it towards the swarm of bats. It proved to be a close miss, and the bomb rolls harmlessly into the pit.

"A rough night, to say the least. Your goddess must have been watching over you, sir halfling."

"Perhaps...but what IS certain is that he had a mortal doctor watching over him," Dr. Vitruvian interjects in a steady but firm voice.

"Of course," He continues, "had I elected to turn my ministrations elsewhere, she might not have escaped..." Beneath its typical ethereal monotone, his voice sounds so high-strung one might fear he will snap a vocal cord, and he grips his sword and his codices with even whiter knuckles than usual.

With Harlis' mention of rescue team also doing search, destroy, and recover..

A team of agents is dispatched to look for the body of the missing mad scientist, with info he might be among the undead if encountered.

Rescue squad finds him in days: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Zephyr awakens as spawn in days: 1d4 ⇒ 4

The team does indeed find him in the evening of their 4th day of searching. Having awakened in the dead of night that day, he was right in the middle of giving a fair maiden a bloody hickey.

While he is persistant in his fight, the seasoned agents take him down, after which the team makes their trek back to base, where a resurrection can be done.

When the debriefing is over, you all take your leave, deciding a meal and drink in a nearby inn will give you back some strength.

When you're finished, you each pay the waitress and take your leave for your own plans, awaiting your next mission's summons.

In the Grandmaster's Name

Each of you has received a letter, signed by Venture Captain Ambrus
Valsin.

Letter:

Agent, your talents are needed for a very delicate mission.
Grandmaster Torch, leader of the disgraced and disowned Shadow Lodge, has sold vital information to a third party.

You are to disguise yourself as one of his couriers, and trick an informant into providing false information.

Your meeting point with your colleagues is the Silver Spoon Inn and Tavern, a roadside inn 10 miles west of Kerse that caters to business
travelers and tourists.

Make haste, this mission is pressing.

"SCRATCHER!" Calls a voice (kind of scratchy itself) from out of a dark corner; it belongs to a face that is nothing if not difficult to forget: a Wayang, his skin incredibly dark and features sharp and alien even by the standards of his own race, framed by an elegant mane of indigo hair and set with large, infrared eyes (not that most any Human would ever realize that). He prances forward to give his old shipmate a delicate but friendly hug.

Their adventures seem to have agreed with him. He looks mostly the same as before - clad in a lacquered breastplate made of teak over dark finery that is rather jolly by Wayang standards, a fine bow and sword at his side, and a dense bundle of the hallmark stylized metal stencils of his people clutched in a sweatless death-grip - but The Scratcher can't help but notice the dark little man's trusty buckler now sports an incredible silvery moon-like sheen.

Stepping into the room holding a similar note is another small form. Clad in ornate black o-yoroi that bulks out the noted thinness of his race his long black features only barely visible. Black lacquered shield on his back with katana and wakizashi on either hip he seems ready for war in contrast he carefully starts to fold the note along the existing crease to put it away safely inside his armor. "It looks like we must make haste my companions. Duty has summoned us." he intones in an accented voice that seems strangely deep for someone barely over three feet in height.

"Oy, ya blokes are comin' out da 'oodwork, 'eh?", The Scratcher's elation at seeing a familiar face turning to amusement at the doubling of shadowy allies. "Ya guys know each otha?", he asks as he follows the two wayangs.

Xasay looks at the newestcomer, then back at Scratcher with a shake of his head. "Wayang communities can be expected to be *quite* tight-knit - which is all the more reason one should expect those few of us who brave the sunlit lands in search of adventure to be the malcontented minority regarding such closeness."

He turns back to the Samurai. "Always a pleasure, however. Peteng nuntun*."

'*' = short for "Peteng nuntun dalan sampeyan", a common but friendly greeting among Wayang (sometimes also made to other races of darkness) which, roughly translated, means "Darkness guide your way."**

'**' = If Scratcher can manage a DC 19 Linguistics check, with a +2 bonus for having spent some time around Xasay, he might even know this.

You see a smiling and a little freezing halfling lady in robes standing in the room with her robe wrapped around her ... although she is slightly cold she has a wide grin.

"Oh my fellow pathfinders - I am so glad to be on this mission with you! I am quite interested in magical phenomena - I hope to have your support in uncovering the secrets of this wonderful world. And I am quite optimistic that we will be successful! Wonderful to meet you!"

She grins again and continues. "Oh where are my manners ... again starting to talk without even thinking.!" she says grinning!

Enora bows again.

"Enora is my name! It is a pleasure to meet you all! So do you want to share a little bit about your history? I for instance am from Rahadoum and you can imagine how complicated my life has been ... and still is ... now that I worship Nethys, god of knowledge and magic!" Enora says beaming.

Suddenly, she looks a little nervous.

"But ... but don't tell my parents, ok!? I ... I haven't told them yet ..." she says in a silent voice.

Having heard Xasay use that phrase, and maybe even explain it before, he adds, but in Common. "I prefa ta use a torch, but I can't see in dark, lil bruvvah."

Upon Enora's greetings, Scratcher, well, scratches his armored head. "Ambrus mean ta make me feel all big an' stuff?", realizing he stands taller than any two of his allies combined.

While the others speak and present themselves an imposing figure makes their entrance, in their wake the terrified people bow their heads and walks away, no one wants anything to have with the hell knights. As he advances he carefully scrutinizes the there until he observes the diverse group and approaches them.
Once there the helm is discovered and says as he makes a sloping salute, "Greetings, I have received the missive of Ambrus Valsin to meet with you. I will properly introduce myself my name is Hatsumoto, I come from the Tian Shu region and I have been a faithful follower of the order of the Dragon, recently after a wretched mission I have entered the Order of the Hell Knights to purge some of my sins and expel the chaos and corruption that plague this world, but well, we'll have time to tell each other our stories and battles"
