About 50 kobolds - 1 shaman, some warriors, some commoners and some children. Very possibly this is dang near every kobold in the area come to see you get eaten.
The statues are a sandstone like substance. The dragons they depict are more snakelike than most, being long, streamlined and thin.
The small statues weigh about 200. Can be carried by a 15 str person, or dragged by a 5 str person. Max 2 people per statue.
The medium statues weight about 1700. Can be carried by a str 31 person, or dragged by a str 19 person. Max 4 people per statue.
The large statues weigh about 13500. Can be carried by a str 48 person, or dragged by a str 34 person. Max 8 people per statue.
The huge statue weighs about 46000. Can be carried by a... well it's not going to happen. Can be dragged by a Str 45 person. Max 12 people. On the other hand it is sort of rearing, so you could probably tip it forward on its face relatively easily - that'd move it forward three squares, risk damaging the statue and make it impossible to tip again.
Your remaining compatriots have about five hundred feet of good strong rope. They also have pulleys, which multiply drag strength by 4 on a successful knowledge:engineering roll (untrained okay) DC 15.
There are some rollers and wedges that would make this a lot easier, but only if you clear the floor near completely.
For the record your remaining compatriots (I am assuming one is Pepper) are quite helpful. Pepper can hit Str 22 while raging. Your other companion proves to be a half-blind ogre (Str 21, Large).
Taking out the mimic would make things easier. If not Shelves provide cover. Stealth rolls at -5 due to weight.
You are allowed to break the statues up if necessary, though it was suggested this should be a last resort type thing. At a minimum get the huge statues. After that, the more statues the better (basically prioritise by weight).

Two strong men and 20 kobolds... Like 10 medium creatures strength 14.
Sadly, looks like I'm the diplomat. Oy!
So here us Tarek's grand scheme, which he will whisper to Shae, Pepper and Weyland.
Talk to shaman, offer untainted money for help cleaning and lifting... 1000gp, he just has to command minions to do it. He doesn't have to do anything until we neutralize creature.

Weyland Piper |

I did't want to jump the gun, but I'm leaning towards sneak attacking the boss kobold sorcerer before the spell wears off. I can't imagine they will look too favourably on us when they realize we're humans.

Anton Vitruvian |

Sorry, I haven't been able to post until recently. I had a lot of work to catch up on and I'm having trouble following what's happened since I got back (although I was probably having trouble before I left too).
Can someone summarize what is going on?

Tarek Madrysian |

We tussled with the tiny black dragon, now in a sack... and hopefully unconscious.
Further down the tunnel system, we encountered a lightening trap 5d6 electrical damage, we found it defused it and have it... alchemical lightning (non-magical).
We later found a kobold infestation... about 50+ of them. Tarek managed to avoid fighting and now, they are waiting for us to clean the vault... and betting on how long we last, cause there's a mimic in there.
Rules of engagement (that Anton should keep in mind).
Any spell or spell like ability or effect inside the vault will trigger an alarm. BAD.
We have to get in there neutralize the mimic, and clear the vault floor enough for a magical carpet/tarp thing. Then manage to get all manner of statue, including a HUGE one onto said carpet.
Take gillman potion again (maybe this will trigger), activate alarm by casting some fire effect or any spell really... escape through secret passage. Meet boss lady and get out.
I think the kobolds make for perfect patsies.

Weyland Piper |

Unless someone has a better idea, I say we split up and sneak around behind the shelves then bust out, lightning bottle leading and flank the mimic. Burn it down, grab the loot and book it out of there.

Weyland Piper |

So are we in combat, it knows we're there? Because if not, then I think it's totally worth spending 2 minutes to get into position. SA gives me and extra 2d8 damage per hit taking a few minutes to set this up will hopefully make our lives easier.

I haven't started the clock yet. This is prep. You can have a lot of prep if you want - sorry I should have realised that you needed the spell to wear off before you could set up.
Given the 25 rounds doesn't really cost you anything, go for it.
You could do it in half the time by taking -5 to stealth, but why do it?

Harakani DM |

As I said, I didn't expect you guys to fight it - more tiptoe around it, steal things, knock things over or distract it.
But you guys have fought things I thought out of your league before and won, and if you kill this there's a lot more money (and a level).
I ran #7 and then later Pepper into it to show it was lethal, and it was going to spend this round finishing Pepper off... I thought you were trying to save him.
I'm happy to go back a round, or the whole fight, if the lethality of this thing wasn't clear.

Harakani DM |

Ah - it's a social contract thing. Okay - I'm used to games where you can expect it. Simulates things like Smaug in his hoard, powerful NPCs that need to be interacted with socially or tricked and stuff.
As I say, happy to take it back.
I can see how tactically getting Weyland another 4d8 sneak attack makes sense, but this thing is a big, slow, armoured meatgrinder. I suggest you be reluctant to stay in its reach.
If you were trying to get Weyland a free shot you don't need to attract the hit. You could do something that provokes the AoO (at least it can't grab on an AoO)
Remember also part of the reason to take this mission was...
"After the mission I should - eventually - be able to get anyone who dies brought back, so try to take as much of the body of anyone who dies as you can. I'll give you some acid - use it on anything remaining."

Tarek Madrysian |

Honestly, I feel I tried... But failed. Suggested talking, alchemical lightning.. should probably go off as bottle breaks and give everyone 6d6. Suggested range. I think we were sick of Tarek talking.
It got Pepper and Weyland was going toe-to-toe. Were supposed to be like brothers. Tarek is supposed to run? He can't, he has to back Weyland's play.
Weyland had the best chance of doing damage, real damage. If you take it back, it attacks Weyland and he's dead.
And Smaug has rep, this is a random monster. Bad intel. Marya screwed us. Besides, rules said and non-humanoid entering vault triggers alarm. This thing humanoid?
I'll go along with whatever you guys want. I was praying it would miss. That's why I took full defense.

Weyland Piper |

For my part, I'm totally fine with encounters you're not supposed to fight. The idea that we're supposed to stealthily move life size stone dragons with an audience of 50 kobolds in plain sight of a guardian is a bit of a stretch.
Anyways, Weyland just saw this thing kill 2 of his brothers, no chance of running now.

Harakani DM |

Ogre is post #455.
I'll go along with whatever you guys want. I was praying it would miss. That's why I took full defense.
Hey - fair enough. There was a 20% chance it would miss even without any defensive bonuses.
While I had described the creature as eating Pepper, mechanically it was in grapple using constrict. As it isn't taking the -20 it would need to break grapple (spit out Pepper) to attack anyone. Finishing off Pepper takes its action. Other than that all it can do is AoO. It's not attacking Piper this round anyway, so if that's why you're doing it I'm happy to redo.
Yeah - Marya's intel was bad. The sources she was relying on didn't know this was a mimic, and thought it was just a huge pile of gold. In actuality this is the new owner's security system.
