Clarification, when I say over the next few days, I mean irl days, not in game days. Just saying that while I work on the next encounters continue to RP

Tomodai |

Right I understood that -- I am just giving us a place to per se RP and perhaps get started walking as we do have about a mile or so to go before we stray from a well traveled path.
Perhaps I assumed incorrectly that until we do stray from a well traveled path that we would not potentially have any encounters but I could be wrong on that. Just let me know to not go walking and we can just sit at the bridge or the others can do whatever they wanted to do prior to arriving at the bridge.

Hey. Did anyone figure out what the potions were that Larry gave to Dagny? And does she still have them?
Post https://paizo.com/campaigns/v5748p75iych1/gameplay&page=5#233
You find two potions in the pockets of the headless commando. One is a bright green in color, another is colored like a liquid ruby.

Lawrence Hastings |

Understood. Larry doesn't know much about potions other than that they are magic and might be useful. He gave them to Dagny because she was healing his wound and he'd found them on the goblin.
Just wanted to be sure they didn't get forgotten.
Anybody want to set up a treasure tracker spreadsheet? Or has that already been done and I forgot?

GM KoolKobold |

Let me know about when you're ready to head off. It can be whenever.
As for the potions, I can allow Tomodai a Craft alchemy check to figure out what those potions are.

Tomodai |

OCC: Okay well I will make my rolls now for whenever they are presented to Tomo. However, as of right now, I believe Tomo is not even aware of the potions.
Craft(Alchemy) 1st Potion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Craft(Alchemy) 2nd Potion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Sorry for the silence. My mental health is at a low this past week and it’s been hard to motivate myself to do anything. A map will be ready tomorrow.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Talked with Tomodai, he’s still part of the game, life just got super busy for him. Wanted to let everyone know.

Tomodai |

Sorry everyone for my long absence started a new contract and it had 2 weeks of fairly intensive training -- oh and while the class was only 3 hours per day, the 3 hours of independent work per day turned into like 9 hours (or perhaps more) of independent work. It didn't help that I had to spend catch-up for the 1st 2 days that I had missed. Still got it all completed yeah.
However, due to how late I joined this specific contract I only had 9 days left of the contract and I be needin mo munnee or me wife was gunna hit me with an iron skillet. So then I spent 9 days of working from 9am to 11pm with somedays being nearly busy all day as the calls would exceed my scheduled breaks and therefore I would miss the break. Still it was enjoyable and hopefully nets me enough money to help cover various expenses that we have for a bit.

Wyssal Freeling |

Hello! I'm traveling right now and don't have regular internet access. I'll try to keep posting whenever I can, but please bot Wyssal as needed. I'll be back home on the 23rd.
Sorry the notice is coming late, but I wasn't expecting the difficulty.

GM KoolKobold |

Late reply but making sure that everyone is still good to play. I know PbPs are supposed to be slow paced but wanting to double check

Darius Deverin |

I feel that the myth that PbPs are slow paced is incorrect. It depends on the engagement of the players and DM that the pace is set.
Darius is still here, ready to represent The Eternal Rose and Sandpoint!

They’re definitely slow paced compared to an irl game. My irl RotRL campaign will start Book 5 tomorrow night and we’ve played for a little over a year

Lawrence Hastings |

Yep. I remember playing a group, original edition D&D, from 1st level up to low 30th levels in just over a year. All home brew game. We played about 24 hours each weekend. Kept the DM busy coming up with stuff and him trying to keep us 'on the rails'....
Larry's good to keep going. I try to check/post at least once every day including weekends. I was on the road all today but I'm in a hotel room in Indianapolis right now so no problem. I'll have good Internet access tomorrow once we get to Galena. Heading back home next weekend but again will be online by evening Saturday and Sunday.

GM KoolKobold |

I caught a nasty cold and it’s been wracking me. I’ll link up the next map later this week if not tomorrow.

GM KoolKobold |

Wyssal I wanna say again I'm sorry for instantly getting you to -1 in a single swipe. I had the idea that the goblin captain was particular on humanoid flesh, and it randomly went on you. I wasn't expecting him to high roll the damage.

Lawrence Hastings |

Enlarge Person
This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.

Tomodai |

Oh okay so it doubles your size got it -- I thought it just said it increased your size to the next larger category -- interesting they they again break their own guidelines. Not the first and not necessarily the worst case either.

Lawrence Hastings |

I agree. Although I looked up an ogre, figuring that would be a better comparison than a giant. It says large creature, 10' tall. So maybe large is 8'-12'? Anyway, thanks for reach! Pity I only get 1 AoO. But if I hit they're dead....

GM KoolKobold |

Had I known this goblin captain would put this much of a fight I would've just had him be the sole encounter

Tomodai |

Well sometimes the dice speak but even if I do not agree with them as the GM or a player I have found that listening to them can be very advantageous as it can take the game in directions I never thought it might go. Granted TPKing a party accidentally is something I care to do either. So fully understand your stance.
Of course there is the question of reach and whether the AoO puts down the Goblin First?
Lastly, something I do with Crits is that only bosses or semi-bosses can fully Critical all the rest just Crit which I also run differently I have always thought it was majorily ridiculous that if someone did a Crit that they could still get minimal damage by rolling a 1 on both of their damage dice rolls. So instead what I say is if you get a Crit threat you do maximum damage on the 1st hit and if you confirm the crit then you get to add in the 2nd die unless you get a Crit threat with the 2nd die then it does max and you then need to confirm that crit threat ad infinitum. Aka I have exploding Crits. As previously mentioned only a true boss creature gets to Crit like players. Semi-Boss can only Crit plus Crit threat but it does not explode beyond that and minions can only Crit threat -- again Crit threat means you do maximum damage on the 1st damage check and Crit plus Crit Threat means you do maximum damage on the 1st damage check and can do up to maximum damage on the 2nd damage check.

Darius Deverin |

Sometimes The Dice Gods get Angry! I once lost an orc rogue/cleric due to combat on these forums.

Tomodai |

Yes and when you refuse them ;) they get even angier -- its like they say about mother nature -- you do not mess with mother nature as she can be very vindictive and may totally F you up

GM KoolKobold |

I’m gonna say that provokes AoO. Still learning the ins and outs of combat

Wyssal Freeling |

Sorry I wasn't around for a while there. The week out of town left me very backlogged at work and I've also been taking care of my dog after she had a serious surgery. I've been very exhausted.

Lawrence Hastings |

Cleric? That wouldn't really fit into Larry's development plans. The 10 Charisma makes channeling less that useful. I think I could mix a couple levels of Inquisitor, and then later maybe Evangelist.... Interesting idea but I hadn't planned that far yet!

GM KoolKobold |

That's okay. I hope your puppy is okay.

Darius Deverin |

Entering Larry is loud, "Wyssal. We've been summoned. Something happened. Gotta go and fast."
Is it wrong, for romantic comedic effect, that Larry barges into Wyssal's room in a state of partial dress?!!

Wyssal Freeling |

What's all this romance talk about? Wyssal thinks Larry is an excellent chariot, he's funny, and nicer than she initially expected, but romance? Hahaha!

GM KoolKobold |

I mean, wouldn't be the first couple I've seen immediately spring up in a campaign. Ultimately it's up to you both, Wyssal and Lawrence, both being adult characters, how you wanna play that out-as long as it doesn't go beyond PG-13, and both parties have their say, you got my permission to let that ship sail if you'd like.
