I also have the link in my alias's crunch.
Also, something I've been forgetting: my familiar gives me alertness. Whoops.
I know that my familiar gives me an empathic link. I just interpreted it as communicating telepathically. The bold italicized speak was Ayne speaking telepathically. Though, I could be wrong in that regard.
Flynn, if you want a specific scale, then take it IC. Voren will take whatever scale is left.
GM Alice
The rules say that it's only transmitting general emotions. In theory I've got no issues with her communicating with you like that, so long as it's never something like "By the way there's a big ol' demon over there that I can see". What she's been doing so far has been more or less inconsequential (encouraging you and so forth).
Voren the Outsider
Okay. General communication: okay. When she spots something, then it goes to emotions and/or body language. Maybe interference from Voren's Patron. Why? Who knows? It's a mystery. *insert spooky music*
Aurica Firehand
I'd sort of like the Whispering Wind scale-- if Aurica ends up being a primary scout, then I can see that coming in really handy, because I don't know how many times I've played things where the scout has to get a message back to the party but it's risky to try and sneak back to them. So unless someone else is really drawn to that, I'll snag it, once Aurica is done with the perceiving and the reporting anything she senses/hears/etc.
Jens Varmodsson
I think the heavy armour mobility ability is the obvious choice for your friendly meat shield.
Voren the Outsider
Well, looks like I royally screwed the pooch with Horgus. Anyone want to try to positively influence him, so he's not fighting with us the entire way.
Also, I love how just being a tiefling puts almost everyone on edge. Imagine everyone's reaction when it's eventually revealed that Voren's a witch.
Voren the Outsider
Reknar laughing at the fact tha Voren's a witch? Because no one suspected it?
Voren the Outsider
That's all right then! It's just that I read that Mendev and the Church and the Inquisition has done witch hunts.
Aurica Firehand
I thought it was more the way we mean witch hunt in modern English, as in, they have gone on crusades against anyone they believe is evil, not always with justification-- I didn't think the mention of the Mendev witch hunts meant the actual class of 'witch', but I could well be wrong.
GM Alice
The "witch hunts" are less about "witches" (as in the class, which I don't think is particularly problematic in general unless you're making pacts with demons!) and more in the sense of moral panic, mass hysteria, claiming people to be under the sway of demonic powers and persecuting them on rumours and hearsay, etc. The Witch Hunters actually hunt demon cultists.
Voren the Outsider
Just so you know, on Saturday, I'll be working from late morning to early afternoon. And on Sunday, I'll be spending the day with my family. So posting may be sporadic since I'll be dependent on my phone.
Aurica Firehand
Okay, stat line for Aurica in play, Alice. As an explanation of the 16/17: Aurica uses a buckler. Per the rules, she can fire her longbow while wearing the buckler with no penalties to attack, but loses the AC benefit of the buckler while doing so.
So, generally speaking, if Aurica takes a ranged attack on her turn, she would be an AC 16; if she takes a melee attack instead, she'd be AC 17. If there's some more convenient way you would like me to notate that, let me know.
Currently, she's only 'holding' the bow in her off-hand, not using it, so I think she would get the AC bonus, but if you disagree, that is fine, of course.
Jens Varmodsson
I'll double-check Jens' stats line once I'm back on my computer later tonight.
Also, the idea of Voren and Aurica becoming romantically involved amuses me. I'm a sucker for romance in RPGs. Though I don't think poor Jens will ever find romance. :p
Aurica Firehand
Aurica says some of you had better be prepared to switch-hit if it comes to inter-party romance, cuz there's only one lady here to go around and dwarves are culturally monogamous thenkyouverymuch.
(Anevia's cute, though.)
Jens Varmodsson
That's an amusing idea, Alice. Who knows what could happen in the underground, after all...

Just posting plenty of notice in all my games: I'm booked in for surgery on the 15th of April. Nothing major, just several tooth extractions in preparation for braces. But I'll probably be groggy as hell and feeling sorry for myself for a few days afterward, so if I don't post much for about the next week, just GMPC me.
Of course, I could be on all the time due to being stuck at home, so hey, who knows.
Voren the Outsider
Hope the surgery goes well, Jens. Have a good time at the concert, Alice!
Reknar
Dang Jens - teeth stuff is a pain. I hope that you get all of it sorted out, then smooth sailing from here onwards. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Alice, you gotta explain me how you manage to put that map in a google doc, with the grids fitting in so nicely :D
Jens Varmodsson
Jens is just staying by the NPCs. It's crowded enough in there!
Who did you see, Alice?
GM Alice
I honestly don't expect anyone here to know her, but...
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, an awesome J-Pop artist that I never expected to see down here in Australia. :P Cutesy technopop type music plus a Harajuku/creepy-cute/grotesque (in the literary sense) kind of visual style makes for one fun combo. PONPONPON! is probably her most well-known song.
Voren the Outsider
Am I able to take back my action? I think that it's too late for that. I was going to move back on my next turn and see if I can take a shot. So, feel free to continue on, Alice.
Glad to hear that you had a good time at the concert. I saw part of that music video. Just... wow.
GM Alice
Currently your turn is a bit iffy as it is anyway. You can draw your crossbow and... well, you have the torch in one hand so you can't load the x-bow, although I would allow you to carry it with your tail (seems like it would be a valid use of prehensile tail to me). So, you could draw + take torch with tail + reload.
also, fwiw Reknar, I don't think you need to be too worried about perfect strategy at this junction. it's a bunch of cockroaches. :p Also, it kind of makes sense that you're not exactly acting in perfect unison with people you don't even know...
I will update when I get home in a couple of hours. *yawn*

Kyary is certainly an... interesting musician. It was awesome live though. :)
Reknar
Good to know you enjoyed yourself - I'm hoping for a chance this summer to catch some live concerts over here on my neck of the woods.
That videoclip is kinda messed up though, isn't it? The song seems to have somehow got stuck in my head however ;)
Re: Tactics - Well, unless we've got a pretty brutal setup that forces our opponents to come to us, reach tactics are at its peak of efficiency agaisnt 'dumber' opponents. Since using them against giant, radioactive roaches has good chances of success, at least I can get the most mileage out of it for the time being.
Who knows what will come later on? :D
EDIT: Is that a brain 'dancing'?
Jens Varmodsson
Well, that artist is certainly... Interesting.
Man, I feel so useless right now. Grizzly old veteran, standing out and letting the young'uns do all the work... I've actually dine nothing this whole campaign :p
And to those wishing me well on my surgery... Can I come back for well wishes closer to the actual date? Because I'll need them :p
GM Alice
I have touched you, my child.
G#~ d*#mit! I told you I want none of your devil-pact ways!!
That videoclip is kinda messed up though, isn't it? The song seems to have somehow got stuck in my head however ;)
EDIT: Is that a brain 'dancing'?
Yes, and yes. That's part of the appeal. :D
Man, I feel so useless right now.
You can join the fracas if you like. Anevia'll protect the others. :)
Jens Varmodsson
Doesn't seem to be much room. Though wouldn't it be funny if Jens just waded in and killed all the bugs?
Voren the Outsider
Hey, Alice. I have a question for the future of Voren. At some point, I plan on taking the Improved Familiar feat to upgrade from a scorpion. The question is if I replace Ayne with another familiar, would my new familiar know all of the witch spells I have learned up to that point?
I ask because of what's listed here:
Levels of different classes that are entitled to familiars stack for the purpose of determining any familiar abilities that depend on the witch’s level. If a witch possesses such levels, her familiar always uses the witch rules for familiars, not those provided by other classes, such as wizards or sorcerers with the arcane bloodline. A witch’s familiar only stores witch spells. All other spells are stored normally, as noted in their class features. If a familiar is lost or dies, it can be replaced 1 day later through a special ritual that costs 500 gp per witch level. The ritual takes 8 hours to complete. A new familiar begins knowing all of the 0-level spells plus two spells of every level the witch is able to cast. These are in addition to any bonus spells known by the familiar based on the witch’s level and her patron (see patron spells).
A bit confusing, in my opinion. So, what's your take?

So I've slowly been whittling down the number of PBP games that I'm in. Just a couple of days ago my PFS dwarf barbarian and his group encountered a ghast.
I charged, and scored a crit with my waraxe for 38 damage (this is a brand new character in his first game). So obviously, that sucked up a fair amount of dice luck Maybe with fewer games I can get the law of averages to swing back in my favor over here...
