4 people marked this as a favorite.

Greetings to all my soon-to-be close friends! I am looking for role-playing, descriptive players!

We have two selected players, but are looking for some more aid:

We are looking for at least 4 applicants.

I am requiring you to read the free player's handbook.

Character Creation:

Roll 5d6 seven times, drop the two lowest for each set, and then take the best 6 to create your base ability scores. You may move them to any ability of your choice.

Then you may do a second reroll, or min max two ability scores.

Max health at first level. Roll 2d onwards.

All Paizo material is acceptable. I may however require links from the Archives or the pfsrd if I'm not familiar with something and don't have the book.
Starting level of 2.

You will receive starting equipment of a masterwork set of armor (your choice), a masterwork mithral dagger, and one other masterwork weapon of your choice (must have proficiency with it, if you want it to be a special material it comes out of your following total gold). You will receive 750 gp with which to purchase magic items, enchantments, or any other gear you might need.

Any race is legal, but obviously the less common the race, the better your backstory is going to have to be. This will be a general rule of thumb, I will allow most anything so long as you're willing and skilled enough to make it flow well with the story. That said abberations, drow, and most monstrous races are going to be a long stretch but possible!

Two traits and one campaign trait. One drawback can be taken to gain another trait.

Alignment. Please be conscious of which you choose and why. Please only go with an evil alignment if you are trying to be redeemed. After all the campaign.

What I need from you:
• A complete character sheet,
• Short description,
• Short personality,
• Quirks and flaws,
• Background story,
• At least one 'plot hook' for me to use for a side quest involving your character
• At least one NPC or PC that is important to you and why.

A possible free story Feat, an extra Favored Class Bonus, an extra trait, a simple or complex magical item are possible depending on your creativity and helpfulness. There is a high chance to gain a normal feat once you accomplish something unique and of importance.

EitR rules!

Adjustment to Ability Score increases:
4th lvl: +1 to 1st ability score
6th lvl: total +2 to 1st ability score and +1 to 2nd ability score
8th lvl: total +3 to 1st ability score and total +2 to 2nd ability score, and +1 to 3rd ability score.
Etc.

We will need at least one leader type. There is a high chance of having a rotating leadership system unless the group can decide on a leader and second.

Daily posts are expected, Sunday thru Thursday, please post at least once during the weekend.

Because this is a PbP, encounters will be changed or removed and there will be more story and RP rewards.

The group will level as a whole, instead of handing out XP.

Please provide your timezone: I am in Pacific Time Zone.

Posting rate:

Please provide your timezone: I am in Pacific Time Zone. I hope that we can come to a consensus of all being on about the same time to keep the game moving. For example it could be feom 7 pm to 8 pm. I would prefer 8 pm to 9 pm. Yes we will expect you to post at least once per day Monday to Thursday. Also expect to post about 5 to 10 times in our dedicated hour. I post a lot normally but sometimes I hit a slump or draw into my depression, I will do my best to keep you informed so the game can continue.

How strict are you on the "have not played the modules" part? I've played the first couple of books (maybe into the third, I'm not sure where the breaks are) but A) I can separate IC/OOC knowledge and B) I played a paladin before, and that was fun, but I want to do something completely different and C) every GM runs things a differently, so previous knowledge might not be that helpful anyway. Between the three, I can play like a first timer.

No worries I am going to take that part out!

I am thinking to gestalt you all with the paladin class... hmmmmm...

I am learning mythic now...

Grand Lodge

I have wanted to play this one for a long time. I have not managed to get into this AP before. I will get something together for it.

Roll 1: 5d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 5, 1) - 3 = 14
Roll 2: 5d6 - 2 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 1, 3) - 2 = 5
Roll 3: 5d6 - 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 6, 2) - 3 = 12
Roll 4: 5d6 - 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 1, 6) - 4 = 15
Roll 5: 5d6 - 4 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6, 3) - 4 = 15
Roll 6: 5d6 - 2 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6, 3) - 2 = 15
Roll 7: 5d6 - 2 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 5, 6) - 2 = 17

That leaves me with 17, 15, 15, 15, 14, 12.

Intriguing.

5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 3, 4) = 18-5=13
5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 1, 4) = 17-4=13
5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 4, 3) = 19-5=14
5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1, 6) = 14-2=12
5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 5, 5) = 23-7=16
5d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1, 4) = 12-3=9
5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 2, 3) = 17-5=12

5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 4, 2) = 11-3=8
5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 4, 6) = 22-7=15
5d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 1, 6) = 17-2=15
5d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 1, 6) = 19-2=17
5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 4, 3) = 21-5=16
5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 1, 1) = 15-2=13
5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 3, 3) = 14-3=11

Yeah, I’ll take that second set. Probably something arcane that can still fight. Elf Magus is my first thought, but I could see maybe a sorcerer->dragon disciple or something too. We’ll see.

Grand Lodge

Do you know what the two current players making?

5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 1, 4) = 15 13
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 4, 2) = 21 14
5d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 2, 4) = 14 12
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3, 1) = 18 13
5d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 2, 2) = 15 15
5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 1, 5) = 14 14
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 6, 4) = 22 17

—-

5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6, 2) = 21 17
5d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 6, 2) = 17 13
5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 1, 2) = 16 13
5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 4, 6) = 23 15
5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4, 6) = 16 14
5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 3, 5) = 22 15
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 6, 2) = 21 18

18/17/15/15/14/13

Yeah. Second set is nice. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

No, Evindyl and TheWaskally, should be checking in the next 24 hours!

I will likely bring in a dual cursed oracle of life.

Must...roll...dice...

5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 5, 1) = 22 = 16
5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 4, 2) = 14 = 12
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 5, 4) = 21 = 15
5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 5, 6) = 21 = 17

5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 6, 4) = 21 = 16
5d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 5, 6) = 23 = 17

um, that gives me 17,17,16,16,15 and 14

I don't think another set is needed!

Looks interesting! Let's roll some bones and see what I have to work with before working on a concept...

roll 1: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 5, 2) = 22 6, 6, 5 = 17
roll 2: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 2, 2) = 8 2, 2, 2 = 6
roll 3: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 3, 6) = 16 4, 3, 6 = 13
roll 4: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 5, 3) = 22 6, 6, 5 = 17
roll 5: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 4, 6) = 25 6, 6, 6 = 18
roll 6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 5, 4) = 18 6, 5, 4 = 15
roll 7: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 5, 3) = 20 6, 4, 5 = 15

So we're looking at 18, 17, 17, 15, 15, and 13. That's some good numbers! Let's check the second set....

roll 1: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 2, 2) = 14 6, 3, 2 = 11
roll 2: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 6, 1) = 20 6, 6, 6 = 18
roll 3: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 2, 3) = 18 5, 5, 3 = 13
roll 4: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 4, 5) = 22 5, 6, 5 = 16
roll 5: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 3, 6) = 22 6, 4, 6 = 16
roll 6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 1, 6) = 18 4, 6, 6 = 16
roll 7: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 4, 5) = 21 6, 4, 5 = 15

18, 16, 16, 16, 15, and 13. Also big numbers, but that's to be expected with this crazy boosted rolling rules!

Time to fire up the fleshworks and see what I can cook up.

Hell yeah second set

• A complete character sheet, In progress
A quick draft:
Human Urban Bloodrager, CG (although closer to CN), polytheist worshipping Gorrum, Callistria and Desna. Stat spred is 18 STR; 17 CON; 16 CHA; 15 Dex; 14 Int; 12 WIS.

Feats at level 1: Deft maneuvers, combat reflexes
Racial traits: Dimdweller
Traits: open to discussion, exposed to awfullness and chance saviour would both work. Extremely fashionable and irrepressible
Drawback: Paranoid

Bloodline: Debating between Celestial, Abyssal and destined.

• Short description
Ragnvald of Raliscrad looks like he jumped out of a *JOIN THE ARMY OF GORUM*
recruitment poster, at nearly 7 feet this broadshouldered and powerfully built Kellid is a quite charismatic individual. Although some may see his pitch black eyes as influence of an Abyssal taint.

• Short personality,
Ragnbald is aggressive, direct, to the point and can be quite intense.
He is also a great friend to those he respects and befriends, really fun to be around at a party and oddly gentle when it comes to social interactions including physical contact.
He does have a paranoid streak concerning the inquisition.

• Quirks and flaws,
He frequently acts as if his intelligence is not 14, but a value more typical for a "Barbarian", figuring that, "while I am not truely smart, I can be far smarter then my foes think".
He has picked up a fair about of knowledge on his main enemies, demons, speaks their language well and frequently informs enemy cultists about how to properly pronounce certain Abyssal words while applying a greatsword to their faces.
In terms of the 7 sins so to speak, he is proud, wrathfull and somewhat lustfull (you only live once after all), he is however generous, dilligent and far from envious.

• Background story
--Ragnvald clan hailed from the Sarkorian citadel of Raliscrad, which the demoness Minagho managed to take about 30 years ago, which also marked the open entry of Baphomet into the worldwound war. He himself has no memories of it, as he was born during the exile period that followed.

--The third crusade was... unkind to his clan. Their mighty warleader (Ragnvald great uncle) Askold Rejnskoeld, known by the demons as "the warcrime that rides" was sentenced to death for *consorting with demons*, although he somehow supposedly escaped on the eve of his execution. Ragnvald prefer to cover his tribal tatoos on account of the resulting Stigma, but is quite livid about this. As a result of these allegations, the *Mist Lions* tribe was split up and settled in various Mendevian towns, in part to have greater control over them. Something Ragnvald resents.

--He seeks to become powerful and respected, in order to restore his clans honor.

• At least one 'plot hook' for me to use for a side quest involving your character
--Was his great uncle truely guilty? Is he alive still? What exactly happened there and because of whose actions?
--Retake our ancestral hold of Raliscard! Death to the eyeless hag occupying it!

• At least one NPC or PC that is important to you and why.
--Ragnvald has a very high opinion of Anevia Tirabade, who is far less creepy about ensuring he is no "secret demon sympathizer" then Prelate Hulruns inquisitors, and he affidavit, obtained a couple of hours of polite talking, meant he did not have to interface with the inquisition at all.

I'll probably make a Mendevian Priest cleric of Iomedae with paladin VMC, unless you gestalt everyone with paladin.

I'm not even sure which set is better! I'll think about it and come back!

I am in Eastern time zone.

@GM Wolf, here is a character I created for a Wrath of the Righteous campaign that never got going. I need to alter him to comply with your character creation.

Here is what Preacherlius looks like before 4th level.

Here is what he looks like at 4th level. Note, he might not look like this as he was built as a gestalt character, and the changes to his appearance is from his planar ranger archetype (and I would have to work in at least four levels of ranger at some point for not being gestalt if I want his appearance to change to this). His main class (if not gestalt) is (priest of the fallen) spiritualist.

Shimmerella, hierophant phantom of whimsey, her ectoplasmic form and her incorporeal form.

Irohmentingham, marshal phantom of kindness, his ectoplasmic form and his incorporeal form.

Captain Fergus the Furious, champion phantom of hatred, his ectoplasmic form and his incorporeal form.

Caliistria, guardian phantom of dedication, her ectoplasmic form and her incorporeal form.

Philup 'Buckets' O'Gold, trickster phantom of greed, his ectoplasmic form and his incorporeal form.

Maiden Medusa, archmage phantom of anger, her ectoplasmic form and her incorporeal form.

Please let me know if Preacherelious (and his phantoms) are good or if you prefer I create a different character as an applicant for your game.

About Preacherelius

Preacherelius is a (gnome) aasimar with the Immortal Spark variant racial trait. He is a (Priest of the Fallen) spiritualist/(Planar Scout) ranger with the thrown weapon style, who grew up in Liachora in Iblydos. His favored enemy is evil outsiders. His favored plane is Nirvana (which will also become his planar bond at 4th level). His weapon of choice his masterwork cold iron starknife. The aasimar bloodline of his ancestors who manifested the bloodline were (cervinal) idyllkin. Preacherelius manifested the aasimar bloodline slightly differently and did not gain the typical idyllkin racial traits.

Two of the phantoms he is able to manifest are two fey (a brownie and a leprechaun) who died about five centuries ago. Three of the phantoms he is able to manifest died the day the thalassic behemoth, Ousmariku, destroyed the city of Liachora. The other phantom he is able to manifest is a medusa who lived during the Age of Destiny.

Prologue 4565 to 4606:

Preacherelius was born on Jestercap (Lamashan 27) in 4565 AR in Iblydos and grew up in Liachora. His gnome parents were delighted to discover that a long-dormant aasimar bloodline on his father's side had manifested in Preacherelius.

Preacherelius grew up soaking up as much as he could about the various hero-gods of Iblydos, first from bedtime stories his parents told him, then from books about them. Every year growing up when his parents would ask him what he wanted for his birthday, his answer was always the same "A myth-speaking!"

Year after year instead of a myth-speaking, his parents gave him a dozen books chronicling the lives of past hero-gods. In the year 4585, Preacherelius' uncle Irohmentingham (his mother's brother) became a hero-god and became one of the hero-god protectors of Liachora. In the year 4605, for Preacherelius' 40th birthday, his parents surprised him by arranging a myth-speaking for him. The prophecy that Preacherelius received was as follows:

"The slayers shall become the slain. The slain shall become the slayers. Far from home. Home never far. More must fall before one can rise. A rift repaired."

Preacherelius, confused as to what his prophecy meant, started rereading his many books and new books to see if any of the past hero-gods had prophecies similar to his own. He wondered how one of his favorite hero-gods, Shimmerella (a brownie that had become a hero-god five centuries before he was born) would be able to solve the riddle of his myth-speaking. To his surprise what seemed like the ghost of Shimmerella appeared before him.

Shimmerella was the only phantom Preacherelius manifested for the first few months. Shimmerella wanted to visit "The City at the Center of the World" so Preacherelius booked passage to Absablom from Liachora.

During Preacherelius and Shimmerella's first week in Absalom the god Aroden died. Preacherelius bought his masterwork cold iron starknife at the Grand Bazaar in Absalom. After spending a few months in Absalom they booked passage back home. During the first day of their voyage home is when the thalassic behemoth, Ousmariku, devastated Liachora.

The ship Preacherelius was on altered its course and docked at Aelyosos. Preacherelius quickly discovered that his hero-god uncle was slain by Ousmariku. He frantically searched to see if his parents were among the refugees from Liachora. The information he had gathered suggested that his parents had traveled to the plane of Nirvana a few weeks after their son had left for Absalom.

When Preacherelius attempted to manifest Shimmerella during the first day after arriving back in Iblydos, instead of Shimmerella manifesting, he manifested his hero-god Uncle Iroh instead.

When he tried to manifest his uncle again the following day, another hero-god killed by Ousmariku manifested instead, Captain Fergus the Furious, a tiefling pirate captain that was an infamous fiend-slaying tidal hunter ranger who targeted slaver ships.

Trying again to manifest his uncle the following day, he instead manifested Callistria, a female Iblydosian human hero-god gladiator who died defending the people of Liachora from Ousmariku.

The next day he successfully manifested his uncle again. The next day he attempted to manifest Shimmerella and succeeded.

Shimmerella, saddened by the tragedy that had befallen her homeland told Preacherelius, "The tragedy sounds like it might be part of your prophecy, 'More must fall before one can rise'."

Preacherelius quoted another line of his prophecy, "Far from home. Home never far."

"Your parents could be considered home for you. The plane of Nirvana is far from here."

With that Preacherelius gathered up some coloured pebbles from the shores of Iblydos, took a few of his favorite books of hero-god chronicles and set off to find a way to the plane of Nirvana.

One day he tried to manifest another of his favorite hero-gods growing up, Philup 'Buckets' O'Gold, a leprechaun hero-god who was a friend of Shimmerella during her life, and to his delight he succeeded. After sharing the exciting news with Shimmerella the next day, Preacherelius asked her if there was a hero-god she was fascinated with when she was growing up. She smiled with glee and answered, "Maiden Medusa!"

Prologue 4606 to just before the campaign begins:

Preacherelius made the adventurous journey to the plane of Nirvana. Many of the times the threats they came across were fiends. The fallen hero-god Captain Fergus the Furious trained Preacherelius in techniques to make him become better at fighting evil outsiders. After reaching Nirvana, they spent a few years searching until they found Preacherelius' parents. During a few weeks of happy reunion, they debated what the rift of his prophecy could mean, thinking it might refer to the Eye of Abendego or the Worldwound.

"We are not heading back with you, son," Preacherelius' father told him, "Your mother and I are staying in Nirvana."

"Home never far could mean the hero-gods you can manifest," his mother told him.

"Maybe those pretty rocks from the beach!" Shimmerella shouted, "So pretty! Can I paint them? Please, please, can I?"

After conferring with each of the phantoms he is capable of manifesting, the vote was to try closing the rift that is the Eye of Abendego. The votes were as follows:

Shimmerella: "There are cyclops in the Shackles!" (Eye of Abendego)

'Buckets': "Pirates have treasure!" (Eye of Abendego)

Captain Fergus the Furious: "Fiends aplenty for me to slay!" (Worldwound)

Maiden Medusa: See seethes with anger, not indicating a preference.

After nearly a century adventuring in the Shackles with no luck sealing the elemental rift of the Eye, they decided to head north to see if they will have better luck trying to seal the rift that is the Worldwound.

The reason for deciding to head to the Worldwound could be due to a member of the fey prankster faction making contact with Preacherelius.

I will wait for clarification before deciding whether or not to roll a second set of ability scores.

Going for a uMonk (Windstep Master). Rolling HP for 2nd level. Opening post says roll 2d, so I imagine I roll twice and pick better. If it's roll twice and add them, please correct me.

I'll think about it, I'm currently leaning towards either Slayer or Rogue of some form. Probably Slayer as they work closely with churchs.

Character: Dadna Cloudbreaker Dwarven Aasimar Hospitaler Paladin Oath of the Crusade

Is variant multi classing allowed? If so, going to go either VMC Cleric, or VMC Wizard (for an emissary familiar)

East Coast

Lvl 2 HP roll twice pick highest: 2d10 ⇒ (8, 3) = 11

Background:

The Cloudbreaker Clan has fought in the Mendevian Crusades since AR4650. It began innocently enough, with Kudrin Cloudbreaker joining the crusade as an armorer. The crusaders needed his skill, and they were willing to pay for it. Given the disreputable dwarf’s debts in most lands, this was one of the few places he could work without his creditors finding him. Ironically, throughout the witch hunts he remained safe, given that few doubted his professed piety in Torag.

When he left the world wound, he brought back with him enough gold to settle his debts. And he brought back tales of fabricated glory and crusaders with rich pockets. When he sobered up, he was shocked to learn that more than a few dwarves had bought in to his ale-ridden tales and were demanding to follow him back to Kenabres!

Try as he might be couldn’t weasel his way out of the plan, and soon found himself leading the Cloudbreaker expedition. Among these dwarves were Olden and Helga Cloudbreaker. Healers by trade, they were devout worshipers. They had been moved to join the crusade not out of gold, but out of a sense of duty to their fellow dwarves. It wasn’t until they reached Kenabres that it became clear that Helga was pregnant, and by then it was far too late to turn back.

Dadna was born, to her parent’s delight, with the cleric of Bolka who delivered her declaring him to be an Aasimar. They declared her birth a miracle, and proof of the righteousness of their choice. Growing up in the Gate District, Dadna was “destined” to be a Cleric and to marry a wealthy dwarf to improve her clan’s standing. In this, she was an abject disappointment. To begin with, she declared that any dwarf who wanted to marry her had to be strong enough to defeat her in hand to hand combat, for she would not marry a weakling. Many a suitor left her clan-home in shame with many a bruise. Eventually, they stopped coming all together, either in fear of losing or out of refusal to fight a woman. Her clan was mortified. Even worse, the clerics declared her a lost cause, saying that she was all looks, brawn and temper, without an ounce of wisdom. Out of fear of losing face, her clan elders paid enough gold to have her admitted into a Paladin order, under the idea that her faults could at least be put to use. And it is there that she has prospered, having only recently earned the title of being a full fledged Paladin. She is excited to truly join the crusade, and cannot wait until she can earn a place outside of the safety of Kenabres.

Ok, let's give this a whirl and see what's what.

Well. Usable in a normal game, but..These need a reroll, I think.

Is it ok to submit a character without a Background? Or with just a one-liner? Like 'Tessai is a haunted Paladin, looking for redemption fighting in the Worldwound" - or would that immediately get me disqualified? :)

Hard to argue with those numbers. I'll keep these.

I will likely submit an oracle. I've been playing one in another campaign, and I'm really enjoy the class.

@the waskally

You have one more dice roll

Are you sure? I was under the impression that if you didn't like your 6 rolls, you can reroll them all. Not wanting to risk losing 3 '16's, I figured I would keep the numbers given.

Yep, Lilly is sure. They are taking that from under the Character Creation spoiler in Wolf's first post yesterday at 7:36pm where it says 5d6 SEVEN times.

I see. Both Evindyl and Lilyashanina are correct.

5d6, drop the two lowest: 5d6 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5, 2) - 2 - 2 = 11

Hmm. Keeping the original 13, 13, 16, 12, 16, 16.

Thanks anyway, guys.

GM wolf posted:
Roll 5d6 seven times, drop the two lowest for each set, and then take the best 6 to create your base ability scores. You may move them to any ability of your choice.

Edit: Evindyl was quicker

Ok, just for clarification, I've decided to go with a Sage Sorcerer. WIP.

I've decided on a Half-orc Sanctified Rogue.

Publicly a brutal thug. Secretly reporting to his church on the undercurrents happening in the Kenabres underworld.

He could have been an brutal thug for real but a Priestess of Sarenrae saw the angry child and saved him from that life. Very loyal, but he does believe in redemption if possible.

I need to do some more work on his backstory.

Liliys work in progress submission.

I am not quite sure yet where to go narratively.

Am I a tribal warrior seeking to reclaim his peoples lost prophecy and destiny by force of arms?

Am I foreign educated pragmatist, seeking to suceed where the old traditions failed, liberating and uplifting his people?

Do I maintain the traditions of Sarkoris, or have I rejected them in favor in mendev? Or perhaps I follow a middle ground?

I think I will write the background first, and then adjust race, bloodline etc. to fit it.

Some details on Ettiken

Ettiken Kozo, ratfolk Witch
Image
Campaign trait: Exposed to awfulness
Elevator pitch: A member of Kenabres' underclass who prior to the city's collapse was unfairly accused of being a witch, a thief and an abyssal collaborator. The charges were only two-thirds right.
Description: Looks like she’s been through Hell. (It’s close.) Brown fur with white patches; scarred face and a maimed arm, though she makes up for it with help from her tail; Shabbily dressed; carries pretty much everything she owns — which isn't much — on her back.
Background: Ettiken came to Kenabres in year 4698 at age 5 as part of an ill-fated caravan from the Sellen Hills region. Their arrival was punctuated by a demonic attack on the city, leading some to accuse the Ratfolk of hiding invaders from the Worldwound. The truth was never found out, but the caravan's survivors, who lost most of their goods and possessions, were left to scrabble in near-poverty on the streets of Kenabres. (Ettie herself was badly maimed in the attack, and remains scarred to this day.)
Personality: Carries a chip on her shoulder, or would if she had much of a shoulder. While it's been a disaster, of course, the demonic invasion of the city has made her life only moderately worse than it had been, and there’s a part of her — she’s not proud of it, but it’s there — that enjoys seeing the people who once spat on her brought as low as she is. She still feels an allegiance to the city itself, though, and some of the people in it.
Quirks/Flaws: Untrusting, especially of Iomedae priests and other authority-types. Trying to decide if it rises to the levels of paranoia drawback, but she’s gotten the short end of the stick from humans for decades; that’s gonna leave a mark. Prone to hoarding.
Alignment: Neutral … would like to do good but says it's easier to be virtuous when you're not hungry. She knows this is a rationalization.
Hooks: There was an abyssal devotee in her clan that allowed the demonic attack all those years ago, though it wasn’t her. She has two younger brothers that joined the Fourth Crusade; she considers them sellouts but still worries about them.
NPCs: Her younger brothers, Vetet and Qam — though they’ve taken human names, which ticks her off. Also Olive Venar, who runs a market in the Gate District and lets Ettie live behind the storeroom. More important, Olive gave an alibi for Ettie earlier this year, when the ratfolk was accused of hexing merchants in the bazaar and robbing them. (Ettie has tried very hard not to hex any merchants since then.)
Time Zone: Central (8-9pm Pacific online time sounds pretty good)

I will wait for clarification before deciding whether or not to roll a second set of ability scores.

You could add 5 to the 13 making it 18.

Then subtract 5 from 11, making it a 6.
Add x to one ability score, the minus x to another. (once)

Have you decided if we are all going to have a paladin gestalt? (Something you posted towards the beginning of the thread made it sound like you were considering it.)

Character is increasingly progressing!

Looks (shamelessly joinked from a black library cover)
Totally not Leman Russ

Personality quirks:

--Meditative, believer in omens
Sarkoris was, and still is, a land of myths, several which speak of redemption and reclamation. Outside of battle, Ragnar can be rather contemplative, but while combat occurs, Gorum rules.

--Combat empathy
Ragnar is quite capable of thinking like a demon, and can to an extent predict their behaviour, especially if he is raging. He can also fluently speak their language (looking at picking up truespeaker alternative racial if I go for an Aasimar), it does not occur to him that others needed to conciously learn the language, he just knows it, as if someone deposits useful languages in his brain.

--Polite and professional
Ragnar is reserved, almost obsessively polite. He comes from a violent culture, and from one in which minor slights can escalate quickly.

@GM Wolf, would you allow the following lore skill:
Lore Demon politics. You know, depending on how you roll, which demonlord does what, which demonlord is in combat with whom, to an extent, you know the history of their relations.

You do not know any statblocks or specific abilities, other then very basic things such as "most demons can teleport and many are telepathic".

Man, I have always wanted to play this AP. But some questions:

1. I've been playing the video game version recently, would that cause a conflict of interest?
2. Please see my "About me" in my profile and let me know if that would cause a problem.
3. Are you definitely planning to do gestalt? If so I'm probably out.
4. I'm in EST. I can generally post daily, but I am very uncertain I could post the same time every day due to the nature of my work and other obligations.

eriktd wrote:

And if gestalt, is the second class going to be paladin (or another specific class you, the GM, chooses for us) or is it going to be open to GM approval for the individual gestalted class each players choose. I ask since Preacherelius was already built as a gestalt (priest of the fallen) spiritualist/(planar scout) ranger, which is represented into his backstory for both sides of that gestalt combination.

5d6 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 6, 3) - 2 - 3 = 14
5d6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 1, 2) - 1 - 2 = 10
5d6 - 5 - 2 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 5, 2) - 5 - 2 = 17
5d6 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 1, 5) - 1 - 2 = 10
5d6 - 5 - 5 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 5, 5) - 5 - 5 = 16

5d6 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6, 4) - 1 - 4 = 17

So that's 10, 13, 14, 16, 17, 17 before racial bonuses. Nice!

The potential for a party that is all gestalt paladin certainly is intriguing.

I'd probably go Purifier Oracle. It just screams "divine warrior paladin"
