Well as of today it's been over a year since the additional resources document was updated. Not to late for a Christmas miracle yet though.

No such luck, at least not yet.

Sad face.

Didnt thinking would be worth making a new thread for this but I'm curious-what everyone be doing for their first COM SFS character? I have a gnome biohacker, Witchwyrd Witchwarper, and an uplifted Bear Vanguard just itching to see some play.

Honestly? I haven't bothered looking at COM (or any other books released in the last year), since I can't actually use it in SFS yet.

However, when Additional Resources is updated, I foresee a *lot* of feverish reading in my future :-)

That would be pretty cool! Similarly, my -701 Android was built for hitting hard, so "retraining" to the +2 Strength model would be awesome.

Would be nice if they allowed a one time free rebuild, like when Pathfinder unchained was released.

I have a number of plots.

Uplifted Bear Street Rat Aesthetic Warrior Qi Adept Soldier Battleflower of Ning. The most graceful of bears.

Izalguun Armor Storm Soldier...I realize I don't need the COM to play one, but I want a pile of feats and gear boosts from COM to make the beaty-est down-iest character possible.

Brakim Vanguard. I mean, +Con/Dex; what's not to love for a Vanguard?

Multi my Nuar Blitz Soldier 3 to Biohacker at level 4. All the injections and a pile of melee damage, too.

Multi my SRO Augmented Shock & Awe Soldier 4 to Experimental Armor Mechanic at level 6. Then slap Power Armor Jockey on there at level 11.

Probably more that I don't remember.

I'm pretty decided on a Dragonkin Vanguard. The stats aren't Brakim level of ideal, but the concept seems cool enough. Plus, I'm thinking of trying out a low AC Vanguard. Also, maybe some fun with the Partner Bond ability and a friend playing an operative or blitz soldier.

I'm thinking an Elebrian Biohacker. Who wouldn't want an Elebrian being their doctor?

As for Witchwarper...I'm unsure. Right now I'm leaning toward a Contemplative, though Stellifera is in consideration as well.

Also: to answer questions about COM character ideas.

Rahirez, “Male” Copaxi biohacker

Spoiler for Copaxi scenario:
Trying to find out, genetically’ speaking how Copaxi lost their mystical abilities.

Beauregard Truthpelt, Male Nuar “Private Eye” (Bounty Hunter). A film Noir Nuar

I don’t have a name yet, but I am thinking of making a Pahtra dex vanguard with the athlete theme (if it’s legal), who is a regular on pact worlds warriors, and views Starfinder as ‘training’ in the off-season.

I've been considering a Stellifera Witchwarper as well. Seems like it could be a lot of fun.

Ooh, first COM characters? Well...

April Puck, halfling biohacker, dentist that took a lot of clients that had bad reputations because she believes everyone deserves dental care. Lost her license when a rival gang member attacked her office and she defended her patient with medical gear.

Aeatar, khizar biohacker. Studies plants to try and synthesize new remedies.

The Comeback Qid, maraquoi vanguard. Almost died, now fights to protect people from the same fate.

Mukuro Abadashi, human witchwarper. Aiming for a melee witchwarper build, they were raised in the slums of Absalom Station and trained to take advantage of any and all tactical opportunities... and to make new opportunities as possible.

Norria Divi, human vanguard. Going for a dirty trick build, she was from a long line of pompous solarians who kicked her out for manifesting vanguard powers. Naiaj recruited her to put a roof over her head and because she saw her potential.

I have about ten more planned... but those are the first five. :P

Been wanting to make Stellifera witchwarper too. Now if only there was spell to turn everything into water physics...(I also need COM for envoy abilities and noble scion(hopefully that one gets allowed since the money ability allows only buying flavor things) to make fake mystic Speaker Embri with con boon)

But yeah, speaking of the whole "Hard time getting chance to play scenario that unlocks boon", all of early starfinder season 1 scenarios are played by almost everyone except me in local scene, so I still can't get that copaxi boon since I have nobody to run the scenario for :p Wanted really to make copaxi mystic because clearly I have the worst character ideas

But yeah, I have to say I have liked how there are multiple ways to unlock races. And scenarios that unlock races tend to come with "If you already have character with this race, you can instead increase one of stats by 2 up to 14" way to spend the boon.(I guess they might be intended for if you gm/play scenario, unlock new character and then play/gm the scenario with character unlocked by first boon, but I could sworn there was one race with two chronicle sources or at least unlocked by both even boon and chronicle boon maybe?)

Really not into PBP though mostly because playing a game that takes over course of multiple days encourages my bad habits of checking paizo forum too many times per day for new posts even when I should be doing something else :p

Running online with random players on otherhand has kinda issues of it being kinda scary. Like, my general experience with random online players is that you can really get any kind of player and then there are the horror stories

***Warning! Rampant Speculation!!***
In one of the latest blog posts (This Week in Twitch, Dec16-20), they mention some of the upcoming Twitch streams, then say “for the rest of December we [seemingly ‘the Paizo staff’] will be off.” So, if PAIZO is off from the 21st to the 31st, and we are supposed to get COM SFS legal by the end of the year, that means it’ll happen on the 20th at the latest.

Of course that is assuming A) The rumor about getting SFS before 2020 is true, B) That blog meant Paizo employees and not just those few people mentioned and C) Their timetable doesn’t get screwed up.

So, like I said, rampant speculation.

Aw man! I had a character who was going to use that ! It wasn’t even gonna be broken or anything! He was going to reflavor it as switching from tai-chi style martial arts to praying mantis. (All rules would have been kept mechanically the same.)

His solar weapon (through a crystal) has the stun property, so it was going to be like:
Enemy: “Why don’t you drop your solar weapon and give me a fair fight?!”
Me: “Oh, you misunderstand. I don’t use my solar weapon to kill people. I use my solar weapon so that I don’t kill people.” (Switches off solar weapon, adopts a much more lethal stance)

Other news: YAY, Com is legal. Except boo, preserve specimens is not. I was gonna get that spell.

Probably because 1st level 'can roll any Profession untrained' and at 6th level 'reroll any roll from any Profession roll', just based on a very quick glance?

EDIT: Because it has been forgotten in the mad euphoric rush of seeing amazing things!

Yes, I think this would lead Grifter players to assert that there's always some profession that applies to everything, so pretty much everything (and all knowledge checks) should be tryable untrained. And then you have to argue about which mental stat is appropriate for the just invented and curiously applicable profession check they want to try.

A little disappointed. I had three character ideas I wanted to build using COM, and all three aren't allowed.

  • Melophile mystic
  • Wrathful Warrior Soldier with Ring of Fangs
  • Cyborg Melee Technomancer with the Cache Augmentation and Instant Upgrade

Still excited to get brewing on some new ideas though!
