That's one post-Crisis origin; as I understand Convergence/Rebirth, the Crisis now never will have already happened. (Verb tense under time travel is weird.)
The Supergirl intro voiceover suggests (without actually stating) that there was no Superboy on this Earth, that Kal-El/Clark debuted as Superman. Even if there had been a Superboy in the past, he wouldn't be arriving now in a Kryptonian pod, so we can probably ignore the 60's version of Superboy.
I'm really hoping it's not any version of Superboy because (a) I never liked the clone version, and (b) non-clone versions have already been on TV a few times (John Haymes Newton/Gerard Christopher, and for practical purposes, Tom Welling); also, what's the point of keeping Superman off screen if you're just going to bring in Superboy?
Yeah, Superboy (of any lineage) doesn't make sense on Supergirl.
That said, I actually liked Kon-El, both in the Young Justice comic and the cartoon, even if they were two very different characters that shared the same name and origin. (Though the cartoon version took awhile to grow on me.)

I think that the Superman of this series is the Clark Kent of "Smallville" who didn't don a costune until he became Superman.

I have mixed feelings about Supergirl being moved. I'm glad the show was saved, on one hand--the show had a lot of potential and Melissa Benoist was amazing as Kara. Also loved "Hank," Alex, and Cat.
But I'm afraid the move to the CW will cause the show to keep its weakest points, as its weakest points were typical to what the CW wants on its network--the bland, forced romance plots (James and Wynn both have no chemistry with Kara, the actors aren't great, and James in particular is about as compelling to watch as paint peeling). All of the characters who really need to be written out (Wynn, James, Lucy) will probably be emphasized while the best ones ("Hank") will probably be marginalized. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah the commercials make me think CW will show a lot more support and advertising for this show than CBS really did, even if they do have to cut back on money.
Apparently they are also already planning a mega crossover event for all 4 CW-verse shows in the fall. I can't wait to see her with folks like Cisco and Oliver Queen, and I really want a seen with Cisco, Win, and Felicity and/or Terrific all geeking out together.

I read that the person most in jeopardy of not returning (or at least as a regular) is Calista Flockheart/Cat Grant, since Calista apparently signed up in part so she could stay close to home in LA. The producers said something to the effect that they were in talks with her and hope that at least she can be on some episodes.

Yes. The other CW DC shows are apparently all filmed in (I think) Vancouver, which is cheaper. So if they move Supergirl to filming there for budgetary reasons, they'd have to come to some kind of terms or write her character off the show.

They should be able to leave the 'Cat Grant scenes' for several episodes to all be filmed together and thus keep the character's presence in the show largely unchanged without Flockhart having to spend much time travelling. Of course, that would mean extra time in Vancouver for the other actors... so there will probably be some kind of tradeoff leading to less Cat time. Which makes sense anyway, with Kara no longer being her assistant.

Agreed. Her not being the assistant clears things up nicely.
Also, Out of all the characters on that show, she was the one I REALLY won't miss at all. She had a few good heartfelt scenes... but I abhor arrogant people and she was at the top of that list.
Worse yet, people seemed to admire her for being a jerk all the time.
The idea that Kara has outgrown her? I'm all for that.

I was never a fan of Cat getting all a@%~@+&-ish. What I did love about each and every scene with her, though, was the way Flockhart did such an excellent job. She just really seemed to be enjoying herself.

I hope we don't get too much less J'onn J'onnz. One of the great things with the show is take two of DC's most powerful characters and set their power levels to a more reasonable level. In some of the comic variations if Supergirl and J'onn J'onnz showed up then it was game over for any non-cosmic level foe.
In the real world if a humanoid from the largest planet that could allow a two legged humanoid to exist came to Earth he/she would act more like John Carter of Mars. A very scary fighting force but not the planet destroying potential of Superman.

She pulled it off well, plus she has EVERY reason to be arrogant as much as she wants.

Fact is if she was a man and did those things, he'd be admired for being a tough demanding uncompromising leader.

Only by people who admire that.
For me, Arrogance is arrogance and I can't stand people who go out of their way to treat other people like crap.

I'd argue the opposite, actually. Most men who exude a similar attitude are seen as unrepentant a%*$*+*s and universally disliked.
Cat's actress just has the sheer charisma to pull off the attitude, just like the guy who played J. Jonah Jameson in the older Spiderman movies.

It is however very common for people to react very differently to aggressive dominant men than to the exact same behavior in women. This is well documented.
You may of course be an exception. I like to think I am, but it hasn't been tested in controlled circumstances and I know damn well I can be run as easily by my subconscious as the next person.

Superman to appear in first 2 episodes of season 2.
I saw this news a little while ago. It'll be interesting to see who they get. I doubt it would be Henry Cavill. Maybe Tom Welling.
Now if only they could do something about Kara's costume. I'd love to see the bare-midriff version. Hubba hubba.

I had heard it was either going to be the one from Smallville or Lois and Clark.

Superman from Louis and Clark is already in the show, as Mr. Danvers
