Spoiler:
Oh god that red tornado is so horrible

Scarab Sages

Well, that was interesting…..

Spoiler:
I liked Red Tornado. The look was kind of dorky, but I the way they showed him using his powers was cool. I kind of doubt, however, he would give a Kryptonian even that much. trouble.

I’m hoping they just wounded Morrow. I’d like to see him maybe team up with Lex Lu....I mean Maxwell Lord.

I’d heard, in the comics, someone had written a new facet of Superman’s ability, where he expends all the solar energy in his body at once, but then loses his powers until he can recharge. I’m guessing that’s what we saw at the end there, and will see more of in the next episode.

I look forward to seeing Toyman.

James and Lucy are annoying as hell.

General Lane is an extreme douchebag.

The mystery deepens over Hank Henshaw and Daddy Danvers. It'll be interesting to see what happened to them, and who the mysterious alien they were after was. Maybe it was Kara's aunt.

I can't think of a comic book General(non-powered) who isn't a douchebag.

Likely a carry-over from the days when many comic book readers were GIs.

Personnaly, I go Martian Manhunter. I had no idea who was supposed to be Hank Henshaw. But when I saw the red eyes I later noted a greenish skin glow around it. Or I'm I the only one?

Hank Henshaw might have been replaced by J'on J'hons (?) in the 'deadly' mission and the DEO fits him well. So Hank Henshaw might not even be dead...

So they just got bumped to full season. Ok.

Man oh man. I thought Melissa did an OUTRAGEOUS job in this episode! Her getting angry was soooo good! And when she lost it and focused her anger in the climactic showdown at the end - that was intense.

Additionally, I like Winn more and more with every episode. I'm beginning to think he might eventually be to the Supergirl show what Fitz is to Marvel's Agents of Shield.

Well, that is one theory posted here verified! :)

Wow....This was probably the best episode yet

Also...holy %#%@

spoiler:

MARTIAN MANHUNTER!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, didn't see that one coming at all.

That was...that was simply a brilliant twist. Well done team Supergirl

HA! Thank you, thank you very much! My favorite one is there!

Do we start betting on a mention of Oreos...?

Only if they pay for product placement. ;)

Scarab Sages

BOOYAH!!

Spoiler:
I found the no powers aspect of the story interesting - some good acting all around. Max Luther was decidedly d~#!+eaded. Cat Grant was being cool. Poor little Friendzone was showing his pathetic jealousy. Kara's torment is something a bit cliched (superhero struggles with not being able to save everyone), but it's always an effective story if done properly, which I think they did.

For me, the revelation of Henshaw's true identity as Martian Manhunter was F~~+ING AWESOME!!! He was only one of favorite comic book characters from the 80s up until they f$$&ed him up in recent years. Although the look they gave him seemed to be a more recent design, it was still nice to see him.

I look forward to what they do with this. It'll be nice to see him eventually team up with Supergirl. Hopefully they'll actually show him as being close in power levels to a Kryptonian.

Scarab Sages

As a follow-up....

Spoiler:
I liked seeing Jemm, Son of Saturn. I was not, however, thrilled with them making him a villain. Still he was well done.

Also, there was a comment by Henshaw/J'onzz that only one other person knows his identity. I'm thinking it's either Superman or Momma Danvers. Not sure why he doesn't want Kara to know.

Lastly, I really want to see the Manhunter go toe-to-toe with one of the bad Kryptonians, and beat the s%~# out of him.

I'm assuming the only one who knows is

Spoiler:
is Clark. If Mama Danvers knew, she likely wouldn't have sent Alex looking into Henshaw and the death of Jeremiah.

I don't get why Kara can't know. Seems like unnecessary drama between the sisters.

Was very happy to see J'onn and I think they did a very good job of recreating him on a TV budget.

I just wish they used his voice actor from JLU

I wish they did as well Hama.

I continue to enjoy this show, though I'm not at all versed in the DC universe. She's like Underdog, but cuter.

Kind of occurs to me...

spoiler:
Anyone want to take the bets that Hank Henshaw ISN'T dead? Wouldn't surprise me if he was working with Supergirl's aunt, who from her last appearance was shown to be working with someone

I mean becoming a cyborg to survive kind of is a good reason for him to uh...become cyborg superman

Also man I really want to see him and Kara's future interactions. They are both super-powered aliens who are decent people and who are the last survivors of a dead race (or nearly dead in Kara's case, but close enough).

There's no need to fear, Supergirl is here;)

Same here, but I see it more cyber-kryptonian rather then specific cyber-...

Scarab Sages

An interesting episode last night...

Spoiler:
I'm still not enamored of the idea of several evil Kryptonians running around, with Superman nowhere to be seen. That just doesn't make sense.

I did like seeing them allied with some other aliens in that big fight near the end. And I liked seeing J'onn get into that fight a bit, but what the hell was that s@%! about him not being able to read a Kryptonian's mind? Since when? Oh yeah, since it become a convenient plot point.

Not thrilled with whatever devices the Kryptonians had to protect them from Kryptonite.

The sub-plot with Cat Grant's hacked emails seemed designed only for two reasons (a)to get Jimmy and Friendzone back on buddy terms, and (b) to give the final reason why Cat uncovers Supergirl's secret identity.

The sparring scene between Kara and her adoptive sister got me thinking - you take the hand-to-hand combat experience of someone like Batman or Lady Shiva, and pair it with the sheer physical superhuman abilities of a Kryptonian? Holy s@#~balls, that would be a devastating combatant.

I thought there were some interesting plot developments but

Spoiler:
the hacking storyline annoyed me. I've come to accept that computer use in TV/movies is basically magic explained by technobabble that rarely has anything to do with reality. But they went the complete opposite direction here.

Cat's email archives are kept on paper in giant file boxes?

Winn had to devise a ridiculous hacking device that had to be physically placed in the computer (though Jimmy placed it in the monitor, rather than the computer itself, unless it was an all-in-one unit) instead of just pulling Dirk Dastardly's email off the company server?

Even if Winn, for whatever reason, couldn't access Dirk's PC remotely, all he'd have to do is call up Dirk's assistant and schedule a time to "upgrade his hard drive to a faster/larger/whatever model" and clone the drive.

The hacking excuse would have made sense if they needed to access Dirk's personal, non-CatCo accounts, but the explicitly mentioned they were his CatCo accounts, making them legally CatCo property. (Otherwise the case would be promptly tossed out of court.)

Calista Flockhart is seriously getting better with each episode. And she was already great right out of the gate.

The showdown with Non at the end really ripped me out of the show though. When he was surrounded at gun point and a bunch of crack spec-ops soldiers who just moved in closer and closer to the bulletproof, kryptonite-ray-proof, flying, freakishly strong kryptonian just so Non could throw them off his back after he crouched down was kinda crazy dumb.

Still, for that to be what I took biggest issue with means the rest of the episode was pretty dang good.

---

I'm thrilled that they have already explained Hank's mysterious red eyes, and now I'm even more thrilled that they've demonstrated Cat Grant applying her smarts and her edge.

Also, I want Winn to win so badly! Gah!

This is a brand new adaptation. It isn't in continuity with any previous adaptation, be the the comic books, films, TV shows, animations, or any other adaptations. For example, Kryptonians are rather obviously much less ridiculously overpowered in this adaptation than they are in many others.

I did enjoy this episode, can't wait for when it comes back. Wich reminds me, do we know when it will start back up?

Yeah, like I already said, convenient plot point.

The show's getting better just about every episode. I'm glad to see Cat being smart. I just think Winn is annoying. Kind of like felicity in Arrow, except even more petty.
My main problems with the show are actors who don't know how to fight or stage fight trying to make it look good (it doesn't really) and improper use of superpowers (superspeed is never used properly), and stupid tactics (let's try to grapple with people we know are superstrong, etc.)

Still, I'm enjoying the story and glad to see Kara getting a bit angrier and a bit more hot-headed

Huzzah for more dislike of Friendzone! Your good judgement has earned you a place on the List of People to Eat Last During the Zombiepocalypse.

Although, Felicity is at least a hottie.

Eh, she's ok. It may be that, like Daisy from AoS, my dislike for the character gets in the way of me appreciating her appearance.

Scarab Sages

Supergirl star on how they plan to dig deeper into the Martian mythology

SWEET!

Well, that didn't last long.

Spoiler:
As soon as J'onn was captured and Kara kept denying she was Supergirl to Cat, I realized "He's probably going to assume her form to help her prove she's not Supergirl to Cat in thanks for her rescuing him." Sure enough.

Good to see more Krypton and Astra backstory. No idea how they haven't managed to take over Earth by now with the dozen or so Kryptonians they showed near the end.

Actually liked Winn in this episode. Some nice competency, no creepy comments and I appreciated him standing up to Kara when she was about to go off half-cocked.

Spoiler:
In the 'Supergirl meets assistant' scene, 'Supergirl' called the assistant "Kara"... and Cat Grant seemed to take note of this.

This is interesting because... the two had supposedly just met and Grant only mentioned her name once... as "Keara". So how did 'Supergirl' know the RIGHT name?

I'm thinking maybe Cat saw through the ruse, but went with it anyway to keep Kara/Supergirl from quitting.

Yup. Same here.

Otherwise, I was less than impressed....

Spoiler:
The scenes between Cat and Kara were so boring and repetitive, I started fast-forwarding through them.

Lex* Lord is an annoying rip-off.

Way too much touchy-feely emotional catharsis crap for my tastes.

If there were that many Kryptonians flying around, the Earth would've already been conquered. Seriously, that s&#! makes no sense whatsoever. Do the writers even read their own scripts? The entire Astra/Non plot, including all the background, seems like too much of a rehash of Jor-El/Zod/Superman.

Winn and Jimmy were the highlight of the show. And there I go, using his actual character name, instead of calling him Friendzone. I guess he's growing on me....like a fungus.

*note - Yes, Brainiac, I called him Lex on purpose.

Winn does begin to impress. It may just be his fanboi crush on Supergirl at work, but it sometimes seems like he's more supportive of Kara than Olsen.

Kara to Olsen (angrily): "You can't stop me!"
Olsen: sits and does nothing
Winn: Blocks the open doorway.

It's not like his presence there was any real barrier, and he obviously knew that, but he stepped in front of an angry Kryptonian anyway, counting on her not to simply shove him out of the way, perhaps (accidentally) through a wall. There's hope the character won't be relegated to the one-dimensional role of "Hollywood hacker."

Yeah, I loved that. As annoying as he can be at times, Winn still sees Kara as his friend first and Supergirl second.

Once they introduce his father to the series, I think he'll see even more development.

uh I am okay with Lex Lord existing, since I have a sinking feeling he will be a more credible "Lex" than the one we are actually going to get in B vs S.

Possibly, but if you're going to have a character essentially acting as a clone of Lex, why not just make him Lex, instead of completely mischaracterizing Max Lord.

I liked last night's episode. I'm glad we're getting to see Martian Manhunter get out and do stuff now that he's been revealed.

Spoiler:
Though I wonder how quickly he'll be publicly outed now that Max Lord has some juicy intel on him from spying on the sister's TV night.
