An undead heavy return to Ustalav. The Whispering Way cult has found a way to free The Whispering Tyrant and the PC's have to stop them.

I had to do a lot of research on Jalmeray recently and there's a lot of elemental stuff you can play around with there too. Or rather instead...

whatever this is a hint about sounds cool:)

Liberty's Edge

A Galtan one in which the PCs start out as thieves trying to reclaim some rich nobleman's lost treasure, get forced into a huge conspiracy, THEN become heroes.

My dream would be a really heavily political AP, Game of Thrones style, where the PCs started out as young nobles and have to deal with intrigue, *war*, revolution, treachery et al. I was disappointed at the lack of politics in Kingmaker, where it would have fit perfectly. For scope, I'd say bigger the better - how about setting it in Cheliax? :D It should be as open as possible, so that by the end the political situation may have changed drastically, probably with at least one new monarch on the throne. The civil war in GoT/ASoIAF is a good model - a bunch of NPC factions of varying levels of good/evil; PCs members of one relatively good-guy faction (the PCs need an incentive to stick together in this kind of game) initially just trying to survive, later on critical in shaping the destiny of the kingdom/world.

Nope, you're not alone at all. Count me in as being interested.

When Arcadia is done as an AP I want the story to encourage people to play Arcadians (and have room for outsiders/Ulfen). My biggest issue with Jade Regent was that you were forced to play outsiders and the first three books weren't even in Tian.

Native American history/mythology never got a "Lord of the Rings" treatment to incorporate it into modern fantasy like European and Asian mythologies have. Paizo could definitely bebold and do something along those lines.

I never thought of it that way. You make some good points. It does beg for an Arcadia Campaign Book, first, to give us writers some common frame of reference for writing a thematic appropriate AP. We didn't need that as much with the Inner Sea, but....

I dunno. Maybe we could do an AP along with a Campaign Supplement at the same time (like Dragon Empires). The outline would require a clear vision of what Arcadia was like though.

Good points in any case.

I would like to see (or even help design) an AP in a region with a Meso American or South Asian (India, Old Siam, etc.) theme.
Also, "big tent" APs open to all character types are fine but there comes a time when new flavor requires a narrower focus. Why not have an AP focusing on savage or tribal characters? Or how about one for certain non-human races?

Continuing on this theme... When I've run 'political' games where each PC has their own agenda, eg from different noble Houses, they have the same 'splintering' problem that Game of Thrones does - the protagonists shooting off in different directions. There needs to be a binding agent, such as common membership of one noble House. With GoT the obvious candidate for 'protagonist house' is the Starks, or the Lannisters for a more evil bent. I think a successful political AP is going to involve a combination of scripting early on, when the PCs are weak, and open design later when they are strong, books 5-6 especially, but also designed to bring things to a satisfying climactic conclusion with more than one possible/likely ending, ie more than one anticipated end state. Most obviously, who rules in the end - PC faction (Starks), neutral faction (Baratheon), enemy faction (Lannister) should all be possibilities.

Another thing about running a political drama - there will need to be major reversals of fortune. Luckily though there is an inherent structure - because the PCs start out as small fish, initially the house leaders will be NPCs. The obvious reversal is the death or (perhaps better) imprisonment of at least some of these, and the rise of the now mid-level PCs to positions of authority as their replacements. Around level 7 - Leadership level - looks perfect for that; the PCs should be robust enough to survive, but still with a feeling of being overwhelmed by more powerful forces and generally on the defensive. Then as they rise into the double digits they can begin to push back and take control in the open phase of the AP.

are there any rules for constructing noble houses for PCs? I mean something like what we see in Kingdom building. Could be a nice system to develop for a Game of Thrones themed AP set in Brevoy. (Since Brevoy has been basically stated as being inspired by Westeros).

The closest thing is probably the Faction Guide. I'd expect Noble Houses to be a similar sort of creature.

Dark Archive

I would like to see an AP with lots of planar travel. Visit Axis maybe, some of the good planes. That or really do a lot of planetary travel. We have seen a bit of both, but not as much as I would like.

I'd like to see a down and dirty urban scoundrel campaign. Sandboxy in nature, of course. The PCs acquire assets and reputation doing odd jobs and build their empire from the ground up.

After a botched heist, the PCs are face to face with the lawman. Instead of jail/execution they're leveraged into being bait to catch bigger fish in the realm of politics/bribes/corruption.

Tense situations unfold with people much more powerful than them and they have to maintain their confidence. As the case builds and builds, the PCs have a last second opportunity to turn the tables on the lawmen and escape their crimes.

Something like "The Wire" meets "Oceans Eleven" meets "American Hustle"

I would really like a Tian AP that didn't spend half the AP getting there, and you aren't playing as outsiders.

Something like Romance of the Three Kingdoms, or the Sengoku Jidai (or a combination of the two!) would be awesome.

I would love to see a "Napoleonic Wars" campaign with Galt, Andoran, Taldor, Cheliax and a rising Molthune. Diplomacy and intrigue with some warfare sounds epic.

In my heart-of-hearts though, I want AP based around chivalric stories and tropes such as fey, dragons, King Arthur, the Song of Roland, but with the extra Pathfinder and Golarion flair and twist. I love all that stuff, and I know that Paizo could make it fresh while keeping the essence of what makes the stories work :D

That actually sounds really cool! I like this idea.

My current wishlist / thoughts:

Casmaron:

Casmaron - the heralded return of Namzaruum and the political & religious fall-out from the rumors of his return. Perhaps the PCs must vie against a new Spawn of Rovagug at the end of the AP or find that Namzaruum is not the hero that his followers believe him to be and must stop him. Politics and a possible shattered prophecy.

Kaer Maga:

Kaer Maga - ancient forces begin to stir beneath the city who was old when the Runelords began their rise. PCs must discover what mysteries lie beneath the streets of Kaer Maga and confront those who seek to keep those mysteries hidden. Brothers of the Seal maneuver against the machinations of the caulborn and their masters.

Return to Darkmoon Vale:

Return to Darkmoon Vale - "classic AP" after some of the gonzo flavor of RoW & Iron Gods. Wilderness encounters, bit of exploring beneath, and perhaps some high CR influences with the First World and the Eldest. Maybe discover a bit about what the Tane were created to fight against with some info on the politics of the fae, the first world and the Eldest. Perhaps even the mystery of Count Renalc's exile.

Belkzen Stirs:

Belkzen Stirs - AP around Last Wall & the orcs. A shadowy figure has arisen and begun to gather the orcs into a unified force again. Though slain, he continues to return. The mystery to his identity and power can only be found by returning to the Darklands below, where the orcs originated from to rediscover some of the ancient history of the dwarves & orcs of Golarion and the driving forces behind the Quest for the Sky. Because orcs are sadly lacking in APs.

From reading the first three books of Kingmaker, Brevoy came across as The Country Which Doesn't Do Anything, which was a big letdown for me. So currently I have negative feelings about it. I can it could be redone with more potential. But I don't like how it's hived off in one corner of the map, almost as if it's deliberately isolated so that events there and in the River Kingdoms won't affect the wider setting...

I would really like to see a Mythic AP where the bad guys are trying to free Rovagug. With the BBEG fight occurring at the Pit of Gormuz.

I'm with Hrothdane on this. You'd think this would be the norm in the game, yet I can't recall any AP or even a significant adventure that involves the above listed themes. Paizo, Can we do something about that? Failing that, how about a Knock-off of the Tomb of Horrors, levels 1 through 16?

Distant Worlds is still my #1.

But they'll probably want something a ittle more standard after Iron Gods. So maybe Darklands? Start with Candlestone Caverns, eventually work down to the Vaults of Orv, maybe ally with a dwarf town left behind by the Quest for Sky, discover the secret of the Vault Builders...

...

Also, metallic dragons are way rarer than the chromatics have been. Maybe we can have a dragon rescued/princess slain AP?

And for the next travel AP, I'd like a pilgrimage. I could see it being a chase after Rovagug cultists, but that's pretty similar to CC.

I agree that more about Kaer Maga is a good idea - possibly whole AP centered on Kaer Maga.

I haven't read this whole thread but I remember after the movie The Matrix came out with Keanu Reeves (Reaves?), I started to run a city campaign which I got into for about 1 adventure and my job moved.. sadly the game group was unwilling to take the bullet and come live in my garage.

The premise was that the city the characters were in was overrun with them in it and they were unable to get out in time. They were forced underground to hide from the occupation where they became entangled in a large number of factions from helping to set up an underground railroad to smuggle people out of the city while smuggling important supplies and people back in to conducting guerilla operations against the occupying forces while attempting to keep away from the executioners axe. I had elements such as corruption among the city guards and their leaders, traitors that needed to be sniffed out amongst the rebels, excursions to various locations within the city to obtain supplies or get information to other "cells" in the city.

It just seemed like there were sooooo many adventure hooks and I was ready for months of quality gaming and then my stupid job had to drag me away. Apparently the wife and kids expect a place to sleep AND food every day.. whatever.

I think something like that as an AP would rock!

Just my 2 cents. Paizo? Lemme know if you need me to quit my job and come work on this for a couple of years :)

I would like to see a rescue the princess adventure for once. Also a princess archetype for the bard class would be cool especially if you can get wild empathy as a class ability for a bard. It doesn't have to be from a dragon maybe she was taken by denizens from the first world or found her way there.

I would also like to see a rescue the dragon adventure, maybe from an evil or just plain insane princess. Maybe she likes to collect rare and/or beautiful things and creatures.

Grand Lodge

What would I like to see? Honestly I don't know the world of Golarion well enough to give a lore steeped answer but I know what kind of campaigns I would like to see.

1.) Alexander the Great... kind of. The PC's are patriotic members of an army of a small nation lead by an awesome conqueror who is cutting a swath across the world. The various parts of the adventure are facing off against the various lands their leader chooses to conquer.

Much like Alexander in the end the leader becomes deluded into calling himself invincible and a deity and the PC's and whoever they can sway to their sides are the only ones who can stop him.

2.) Reverse order. The PC's (who may or may not know each other) wake up one day to find themselves either convicted of a terrible capital crime and with no memory to clear themselves. The Path is about them escaping and discovering who or what coerced them to... kill a king? commit atrocities?

3.) I like the idea of a New World-ish AP with the PC's as colonizing mercenaries who find themselves exploring an unknown new continent.

So... those aren't too specific.

+ Alkenstar/ Steampunk.

+ Darkmoon Vale AP (This one got many "point-of- view" possibilities: 1) 'regular citizens', 2) Eagle Knights/Diamond Regiment, 3) good/neutral Fey, 4) evil Fey, 5) Werewolves, 6) Lumber Consortium... many other, this could be a mega crossover AP...

Abberations, Madness, and Deception.

I'm sure someone much more clever than I can fill in the gaps.

set of adventures and sources:

  • Swamp Stomp [Level 2, Dungeon Magazine]

Seconded on a First World AP. The adventure at the end of (unnamed Adventure Path) was pretty oddball in an evil alice in wonderland way.

I'd also like to see an entirely city based AP, either Absalom or Kaer Maga. Both cities are full of enough intrigue and adventure to fuel such a thing surely! Plus it'd be awesome to get a closer look at one of the bigger burgs in the setting.

Is there already an AP that deals with the Aboleths and the Azlants? If not, that would be a nifty look into some of the dark history of the world.

I would love a gladiator campaign. 1-17ish. Something mixing Spartacus and Gladiator would be awesome.

Oh and vikings! Maybe get some viking/native american style like in Pathfinder the movie? It would be really cool if the first AP had a Native prospective and a viking prospective and the two eventually team up to fight some terrible evil... Probably undead.

What I'd personally like to see next is an aboleth focused AP, spending huge amounts of time underwater, with merfolk and gill men and such as valid PC races.

Honestly though, there's enough cool exotic locale APs in my backlog as is between Reign of Winter, Iron Gods, and Mummy's Mask that I think we're due for a palette cleanser first, based on orcs, or dwarves, or some other form of old school fantasy comfort food.

Perhaps not next, but somewhere down the line - not even sure if I have posted these already:

Vudra
Sarusan

As long as Paizo completely mess with the source material (India and Australia/Oceania) to make them both Golarianesque and awesome in flavor, theme and plotwise I will be happy. I have not desire for any particular plot - merely the settings will be enough for me to enjoy - I am sure Paizo's stable of freelancers can deliver the goods. And yes, I understand many are concerned Vudra will necessarily require psychic magic. Perhaps it will. Can we have Dreamtime magic for Sarusan? Sounds kinda First World...

I LOVE the idea of those three adventure paths, but agreed: a nice palette cleanser would be refreshing.

Wayfinders

This will be more than just a six-part adventure path. But, an adventure throughout the Golarion Solar System. This is mainly just to learn the worlds themselves and determine the types of cultures that reside on the planet itself. That would be a really fun game in my opinion, but likewise it would have to have some type of story to it. I am picturing something along the lines of Spelljammer, but, a little bit more grand than what Spelljammer was. Spelljammer itself, didn't really catch fire because the ships were too small, in my opinion. I think that the regular 'Magonic Ship' should be slightly smaller than the legendary Spelljammer ship itself.

Just to mix some Sci-Fi with some Fantasy and see what becomes of it. I have a feeling that James L. Sutter would have a blast with that. Just, some fruit for thought, after all, he talks about how he is a huge fan of that kind of stuff in Reign of Winter's Forward on The Frozen Stars!

That would be very cool, maybe just tracking down somebody that wishes to unite some of the major civilizations in the Solar System and create an Empire in which to conquer all the planets in the Solar System, he is mounted as Grand Supreme over the whole system.

That would be something that I would be absolutely thrilled to play in! Maybe there is a major city in the diaspora where a handful of mages control the diaspora's local surrounding to make sure no meteor/asteroid bumps into their city. That would also be a very cool idea.

Sorry for writing so much, I am kinda passionate about creating stuff like that! Anyways, there is my two cents!

Think about it, it might be awesome!

Apparently, you must have missed this post from him saying that such speculations were premature at best, that his saying "at least 6 months out" was only to be taken as a "we have no plans at the moment to speak of" and wasn't to be read into too much.

I would absolutely love to see either a space AP or a multi-planar AP, though I think an orc/dwarf/drow/darklands focused AP first would be nice to break up the string of less-than-traditional APs. Start with orc raids, then an all out war with some dwarves. Move on to the source of the orcs in the darklands, make a side stop with drow, and cap it all off with a vaults of Orv mystery-exploration.
