Molthune/Druma/Dwarves - obvious Nirmathas connection, but also involving Druma, the Dwarves, even Cheliax?
Southern Garund/Nex - people mention the conflict with Geb, but that conflict is old hat, they are no longer at war.
I'd rather see Nex in connection with eastern Mwangi expanse or the rest of Southern Garund.
EDIT: And of course this AP would be the perfect opportunity to introduce an Arcane Ranger Alt-Class,
with a unique not-blasty spell list, possibly with sorceror bloodlines, maybe even some tie-in with Jatembe's warriors!?,
adept at dealing with magic beasts and aberrations, magic-infested ruins, harvesting arcane reagents, etc...
Casmaron - So much. The heartland of the Kelesh Empire? Decrepit abandoned empires of central Casmaron?
I'd like to see the over-land route from Taldor thru the mountains developed, and specific ethnicities further fleshed out.
Zavaten Gura - Iobarians, Erutaki, Cthuloid horrors of the frozen north?
Tian Xia - So much. Intrigue and conflict intersecting Grandmother Pei's Bachuan, Hwanggot, Po Li, Dtang Ma ++++?
Water-centric AP focused on underwater Xidao, kraken-ruled Wanshou, tengu Kwan Lai, and Minkai?
Osirion/Thuvia - getting into the specific vernacular of local culture, the old serpent cults, oases and ancient temples spanning the border of both countries, perhaps the cultists of Ahriman emerging from their hidden temples and mountain redoubts?
Rahadoum - dealing with it's role as 'neutral ground' for machinations of outsiders, perhaps a tie-in with Hermea? the good-aligned undead dragon seemed interesting. dealing with both the desertification and drought and the southernly excess of water.

i would like to see whatever craziness Paizo has in store:)
honsetly i didn't think Shattered Star or Reign of Winter sounded all that great when they were announced, but they certainly are super awesome, so whatever they got rolling around in their heads has got to be awesome.
my one request is another adventure written by Rob McCreary, i know he's super busy but i'd still like one:)

It's often the adventures/APs that I am skeptical about which turn out to be my favourites. It's one of the reason I'm glad to subscribe, despite not needing any more adventures ever. It helps broaden my tastes.

with the recent announcements, what I would really like is an AP that deals with one of the major Inner Sea powers.
Courtly Intrigue in Taldor or Cheliax
Revolutionaries in Galt
Abolitionists in Andoran
Because at this point it would be nice if the major powers got some coverage. Right now at times it feels like the margins of the Inner Sea are better fleshed out than the major centers of civilization.

Dynamic world changing story. That word is not same in next several AP.

Exploring the repurcussions of changed world from several angles sounds cool. Here's one: Rahadoum meets Aboleths and Gill-men meets Mengkare/Hermea meets Ancient Jistkan Hoo-Ha
I really hope to see Gill-men more prominently though. Given they are basically the Aboleth's hyponotized spies amongst humanity.

This idea of a major over-arching story line for Golarion has been brought up a lot (I expect to see magnus here any time now), but continually gets shot down because Paizo isn't interested in making its own books obsolete through changing canon. They write the canon-altering stories as APs, then gaming groups get to decide which of those happen in their own campaigns. Thus, each of these wonderful ideas listed above can indeed happen; it just won't be Paizo who does it. It would be you, in your own game.
Many of us would hate to see the Forgotten Realms all over again. ;)

Since we are getting IRON GODS. And an Orsirian AP...Umm.
Nex/Geb/Alkenstar is now up on my list. I'd love to have an adventure working FOR the Ghost ruler of Geb. Not quite a bad guy game, but a more grey on grey adventure.
Other than that?
Arcadia would be nice.
Razmir is asking for some ass kicking.
Or perhaps adventures where Gods are not allowed?!

I've heard plenty of other folks say it and now I shall as well:
MEGA-DUNGEON. (Extra-planar or Kaer Maga maybe) Shattered Star just wasn't what my guys wanted. They wanted something on the scale of like Rappan Atthuk, Temple of Elemental Evil, Tomb of Abysthor, or even Greyhawk Ruins.
Then you are going to be super excited for the Emerald Spire Super Dungeon coming out next year (targeted for GenCon)! It is going to be a massive hardback written by some of the greatest authors ever!

tho for the record i love Shattered Star!xidoraven |
Ok, first I have to agree (reluctantly, and only in principle) with MMCJawa, about the major powers needing some flesh before going more exotic. That said, exotic is what I live for. So there.
Return of the Annunaki - giant, psionic reptilians in the Valashmai, Vudra, and Garund (plus Castrovel), put in place many many millenia ago by Ancient Serpent Overlords, and when signaled by the entrance of the PCs into their sacred underground sanctums, they begin to return in massive metal sky ships. Some tropes, and some new stuff. Oh yeah, and if you don't do it, I will keep grinding away at it myself. All set in the most exotic and marginalized locations possible, it seems.
For those interested in an Alkenstar/steamphunk AP, it might be too early to tell if that is in the works - BUT, the new Pathfinder Modules line is turning from one-level adventures to mini-campaigns, and the Alkenstar module should be pretty phenomenal, as far as it looks to me now.
And Lisa - it's called sleep, ever heard of it? Do you just eat, drink, and breathe gaming materials to sustain you? It was 8am here in Michigan as I checked this, with your comment three hours prior to me on the Time Zone Train, which means you are either up at the butt-crack of dawn enjoying the rantings of your consumer base, or you are up uber-late.... I suspect you simply don't need sleep at all. And so the question becomes, are you a vampiress? A lich? Perhaps a rakshasa? (eyes you curiously) ....You'd better be careful, or someone will soon catch on to your secrets..... :P ;)
Captain Yesterday - I am quite sure she is speaking only about Paizo products. ;)

Pshaw, Lisa is not any of those things. She is obviously an amalgam entity composed of the time-displaced gestalt of the higher-minds of James, James, Crystal &...
Another, to be revealed at a later time.
Trust me, the world isn't ready just yet.
Soon...

and here i thought she was a manifestation of Shyka, The Many;)
Also possible. I wonder how many of the previous ideas are mutually exclusive to this particular possibility.... We are all about to have our souls smitten from the face of the earth, as soon as we figure it out.... Sweeeeeeeet. :D
PS: I was not sure, but always sort of under the impression that Seoni was essentially a very Lisa Stevens kind of hero persona.

i would like to know more about this, it is honestly the first i heard about it, is it a module coming out? a big adventure path in one book ala RotRL AE? how many pages roughly? is it really a Paizo product? i have already started saving for a family trip to GenCon and this is intriguing and would probably guarantee said trip
Dragon78 |
An AP that starts with the players transported to Akiton maybe by the redstar gate in the Miwangi expanse. Maybe even having optional rules for mythic rules if you want.
An AP starting Kyonin in the first AP volume and with the rest in Castrovel. But what could the big bad be, something very different then undead, evil outsiders, or evil wizards/witches.
An kingmaker like AP with the players sailing from the Innersea to make a colony for there kingdom in Arcadia. So basically like when the different people of Europe and the UK came to the Americas. We could even have rival countries as well.
I would like to have an expedition to Sarusan but you have to be high level for that one so maybe as a module then.

Oh, i see that is disappointing, i don't play online games, never have, never will. still should be an awesome trip:)
The good news is that The Emerald Spire will be available for everyone, not just backers of the Kickstarter. So you can get your megadungeon fix without having to play any online games.

I could see an elf-focused AP that spent a volume on Castrovel. Maybe the PC's are trying to stop Treerazor, and an important artifact needed in the fight was taken to Castrovel when the elves migrated back during the Age of Darkness.
Also, don't get me wrong...I love the more gonzo locations and AP's. I would eagerly buy anything involving the other continents or the weirder places like Realm of the Mammoth Lords or The Sodden Lands. But I would still like to see some CS material for the major nations in Avistan interspersed with the weirder places.

Pirates? Check
Osirion? Check
Megadungeon? Check
It will take me years to play out the above. At that point? Remaining vote is for a smart urban campaign. Doesn't matter which but if it's Absalom, a Test of the Starstone thingy would be fun. For vested interest in one urban area, it would be nice if the AP addressed the Leadership feat as well.
Thanks Paizo for scratching all the itches. :-)
Gator the Unread |
I wanna see a psionic/psychic orientated or focused AP. My knee jerk response is one that include planar travel, but on second thought, I think an urban AP with mind bending powers would be better. And the old "magician versus mentalist" should be ignored completely.
This would make a great intrigue style game, with shape-shifters, demon possession, mind control, hostages, blackmail, and threats piled on thick. The DM would be making a lot of rolls behind the screen (or a few random rolls out in the open, "just because. Oh, hey, what is you will save, anyway?"). A silent brawl in the balconies above a party, shuffling poisons at dinner, wagering lives in a tavern card game, settling a war in a back alley knife fight.
Googleshng |
What I'd personally like to see most in the future now is something with a major depths of the ocean/aboleths thing going on, but I have PLENTY to scratch that Exotic Locales itch for quite some time between Reign of Winter and Iron Gods, so, purely for the sake of pacing, I think we're due for something more grounded in a traditional fantasy setting for after Iron Gods. Pretty sure it's been a while since there was a major urban focus too so... I could definitely see a Galt AP.

Here's my wish list. Sorry, this thread is too long and intimidating to see if any of these have already been mentioned.
1. A dwarf-centric AP based around discovering/exploring an old sky citadel, probably involving orcs and excursions into the Darklands.
2. Another "destination" AP where the destination is Vudra, heavily tied in with the new psionics rules that Paizo will definitely be releasing at the same time.
3. An urban, political intrigue AP set entirely in Absalom. Infiltration of the Starstone Cathedral would be nice but not strictly necessary.
4. An espionage-centric AP set in the middle of the Qadiran/Taldan conflict, where the PCs can be on either side (or both). Naturally, the Qadiran connection opens the door to gazeteers and expanded info for the whole Padishah Empire of Kelesh.
5. Something something Nex and Geb.
My wish list used to be longer, but Wrath of the Righteous, Mummy's Mask, and Iron Gods knocked off three items in a row, so I'm actually pretty happy right now.
Draco Bahamut |
Ok, my list of wanted APs without the need of new rules/settings:
- The Molthune-Nirmathas War
- Shadows over Absalom
- Return to Varisia... Again (Another Runelord awaken or the Lost Coast Pazuzu/Lamashtu Thing)
- Die Razmir Die!
- Remember the Dwarfs (with a lot of Darkland Action)
APs that need new rules/settings:
- Mind over Vuldra !!
- Distant Worlds War (Castrovel vs Akiton)
- 471X: The New World of Arcadia
- Planar Trek (Exploring where no adventurer has gone before... twice)
- Southern Garund Safari
- Iblydos Mythic Adventure

I signed on for an AP subscription finally with Wrath of the Righteous. I was planning on collecting just that but the announcement of Iron Gods kept me on with Mummy's Mask being a damn fine reason to keep it in the interim.
A few ideas that would make me keep it even longer are:
Urban Intrigue in Absalom: Six chapters in the city with no wandering away midgame.
Megadungeon Done Not Boring: Preferably Hollow Mountain but I'll take anything really. The waking of Wrath would be pretty damn awesome.
Steampunky Goodness: Post apocalyptic steampunk was the order of the day in my now retired homebrew and I thought I was all unique until I read about the Mana Wastes and soon thereafter retired it in favor of Golarion.
Dragon Empires Wuxai: A return to Tian Xia is in order but this time a pure, unflinching, beginning to end, wuxai adventure.
Rise of Razmir: Something politically focused dealing with (the cult of) Razmir and the politics of the nations that are in the region.
Stone Age Cavemen: Let's face it, how often have you seen a cave men RPG? Almost never, that's how much. So Realm of the Mammoth Lords AP, it is.
Treerazer and the Elves: Treerazer, like Razmir, is another of those cool plots that just seemed to be forgotten about but strikes me as hella cool but a tad too vague to really develop on my own.
Any of those ideas would make me jump up and down with happiness the way I did when I read about the forthcoming Numeria AP, with the possible exception of the Razmir plot, which would make me have that slightly lower level excitement of not necessarily starting a subscription over, but certainly keeping a subscription over.
EDIT:
Come to think of it, it's been three years since Kingmaker so maybe another sandbox is in order, perhaps as a larger scale exploration like a trek into Casmaron or the southern part of Garund, two areas I feel that are in need of exploration.
Also, a sword and planets style AP would be hella cool and outside the box enough to bring in new subscribers I bet. With the release of Mythic Adventures I got thinking that a neat (mythic or non-mythic) sword and sandal, old Greek legend, type AP would be fun and different but not too different.
MMCJawa |
A Sandbox where the PC's have to form, manage, and defend a colony in Arcadia would be awesome. Recruiting your settlers, forming alliances with the other Avistani colonies or with native tribes/nations, fighting off monsters, and discovering lost magics would be awesome (and give an excuse for Paizo to do an Arcadia gazeteer...)
Quandary |
An Arcadian colony in Cheliax, who learned enough from defeating the Chelish colonists in Arcadia, that they set sail/teleported and set up shop on the Inner Sea. Maybe with Owl-folk allies who attract the Strix to their side (while keeping the background behind their familiarity with the Strix a secret).
Or the Arcadians comes to Senghor to re-unite with their now Mwangi-speaking brethren? And then some other Arcadians come who have a beef with the first group? And then Jatembe shows up...
More needs to be done with Tian Xia, it's like just a single coat of cheap nail polish has given the barest of details.
An AP wholly set there, rather than starting in Avestan/Garund, seems prime material.
I like the scenarios around the Po Li/Bachuan/Hwanggot area, and why not throw in some Dtang sorcerory as well?
Those crashed starships in the South also seem cool, especially with Kaiju rules, and exploring a Draconic-speaking Human country ruled by Dragons in Human form (Xa Hoi), and maybe Nagajor as well:
I'd like to see more about each of the sub-states of what is a pretty big country. The Nagaji are Lawful tendency, but Naga have all spectrum of alignments... Nagaji are supposed to be very obedient to the Naga, but I could a see a few where Nagaji had to overthrow the Naga ruler, and end up ruling their own state themself, maybe with a benevolent Naga lending their 'formal' king-ship to back them up vs. other states led by Naga, but with day to day power in Nagaji hands (and even ones where the local Naga ruler isn't over-thrown, but a competent and influential Nagaji beaurocracy exists seem interesting).
How Nalinivati is worshipped by non-Nagaji (after all, her alignment isn't even particularly suited to LN-tended Nagaji) seems interesting to pursue. More details on ALOT of Tian gods seem interesting to explore some more, in an AP or otherwise.
The whole NW area seems cool as well, crazy monasteries in the mountains, malfunctioning Shory sky city, nomadic La people in the desert, richer semi-nomadic La people in the North, LE Hobgoblin Kaoling, with LN Lingshen's terracotta army, LG Elven Jinin, LG Samsaran Zi Ha, and 'rebel' LN Shokuro all in the neighborhood.
I also want to see the awesomeness of Southern Garund and the rest of the Kelesh Empire/Casmaron.
And Gill-Men.

And if Paizo's 'gotta' do ANOTHER Varisia-centric AP, make it Kaer Maga-centric for sure... :-)
Either that, or a free for all with Magnimar and Korvosa being the major powers in conflict, but Kaer Maga, the Dwarves, 'free' Chelish and Varisian and Shoanti all playing their part. Runelord thrown on top for the cherry. :-)
Something like that would be great as a final AP that is "allowed to change the world" before an 'update' to go along with Pathfinder 2nd edition rules. Varisia can have the honor of playing a role in such a thing. Perhaps have a series of linked APs which are all changing the world, to expand it to a more world-encompassing change... There could even be several that are supposed to be happening 'simultaneously' so it doesn't matter if you've played the other ones, but all of them together (+previous APs) would sum together to 'change the world' when the setting is updated.
Quandary |
And with Rahadoum, the meme there has been that they are "screwing themselves" by refusing Divine aid with their drought/desertification in the North... but their South has an excess of water, from the Sodden Lands and the edges of the Eye of Abendengo. They don't need Divine Magic, they just need some serious Aqueducts. Heck, maybe even build a canal to bypass the Chelish-controlled Straits, gotta be commercial potential there. How to do that? Well, the Sheikh of Qadira (or Osirion or Katapesh or Nex?) has plenty of Genie slaves who can build that in less than a year. What could possibly go wrong? ;-)
