Sounds seriously like your GM didn't read the rules for that part closely & consequently let players abuse them. Granted, the fact that the xp is still party xp isn't explicitly stated, but it is still the case. Also, why wouldn't a paladin be able to give gifts to Chaotically aligned characters? None of the things those characters like are particularly chaotic themselves, nor do they require chaotic acts on the part of the Paladin in question. For that matter, no-one took the frenemy option?!? I did & I'm having the time of my life pissing & moaning 'This is your brilliant plan?!?!'

For me personally only a Orisian AP would stand out and catch my attention as a must play AP. My group has decided for the most part they would rather play good, play-tested, non-Paizo AP's due to contant AP errors of one sort or another in almost every issue.

didnt spot the bit about xp earned this way is shared, but have been directed by someone to where JJ stated it is shared. This is much more satisfactory, the whole thing had been bugging my spidey-senses

we have lots folks having a bad versions of the relationship

how would we know whether the gift wouldnt be used for chaotic ends.

dont know what gifts they all fully like

Koya is a cleric of desna, and sandru is a scoundrel. I should hope they use things in line with their alignment?

Also sounds as if the GM didn't note the fact that PC's can only attempt to improve the relationship once per level, not once per whenever they feel like it.

Nope. Gm has that right too. Situation more happy now realise that in PF, xp gained anywhere is always shared

I think Paizo has done a pretty good job of developing APs that are new and challenging. Over the years, I've seen plenty of threads complaining about various aspects of various APs. I really don't care where the AP is based as long as there are surprises and things I have never seen before.

I almost think Paizo should reduce the amount of information given out on the APs. Maybe they should just make an entire AP a total mystery until it arrives at our doors in our stores.

We are starting with Way of the Wicked and Slumbering Tsar and see how they go. Since we haven't gone down this road before we may be back. My group loves the Pathfinder game and some are active in PFS, but they are frustrated with the Paizo AP's problems revolving around tight schedules of a magazine type product.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

APs that might get me to start subscribing again:

1) Land of the Linnorm Kings – all Vikings. No Irrisen, no elsewhere. All Linnorm Kings.
2) Alkenstar/steampunk – heavier on the steampunk
3) The fully detailed, mapped, and entirely complete dungeon under Kaer Maga.
4) Tian Xia – as another poster states: Starts there, stays there, ends there.
5) Vudra – anything! (But again, starts there, stays there; focused in a smaller/limited location)
6) Dwarven AP – in dwarven lands/cities
7) Osirion – anything! (And again, starts there, stays there; focused in a smaller/limited location)

What I don’t want to see? No more “journey” adventures. Those are dull as dirt, AFAIC.

NEW IDEAS

An elven AP. One that doesn't mandate that you be an elf, but where the story provides a non-mechanical role-playing incentive for doing so anyway. Set around Kyonin, and could involve cool stuff like Treerazer. Not necessarily drow. This could be a good chance to present elves differently than what was done in the later half of Second Darkness.

I find Sevenarches to be a pretty interesting place too, in the River Kingdoms

*********

Sometimes instead of looking for a strict theme, I look for a cool location in a sourcebook that I'd like to know more about.

Though, becoming a Linnorm King would be pretty cool, and there's lots of support in pre-existing products to make it fun without over-burdening the production line.

Ah. They were the only examples I could think of (and splinters of faith). I wondered if there was maybe some other source of APs. (I'm the opposite to your group - love the APs but don't generally use the rules. :p)

A sort of elf-centric AP may be cool. The party could all be of a certain 'view'

-CG or close
-long lived races (elf, gnome, fey, samsaran, aasimar) and make this longevity part of the game
-to do with the natural world, hidden realms, secret pacts, shadowy planes and other stuff far from the prying and interefering ways short-minded humans and there urban squalor and 'progress'

As much as I love the Inner Sea Region an All Tian or all Vudra AP would be fantastic. I really dig getting to sample some exotic cultures and their stories.

Aboleths, Aboleths, and more Aboleths.

Ever since I read Lords of Madness, Aboleths have been my favorite villain race. One of my favorite things about Golarion is that Aboleths play a major role in history.

Combine that with Paizo's fondness for Lovecraft, and my only problem would be deciding if I wanted to play it or GM it.

Of course, any other Abberation race of the general flavor of Lords of Madness would also be pretty great.

Also: more Orv please. Darklands are good times.

EDIT: And while I'm at it I'll add another vote for Osirion. Preferably something involving Spawn of Rovagug and some good old fashioned archaeology.

I am intrigued!

Still, I would love to see what Paizo would do with the subject matter.

For one thing, I would love to see an AP of this sort that started on the surface and delved deeper as it went (yes, like Second Darkness). I'm not a huge fan of dwarves or Drow in general.

Yes, I meant Winter. I might have misspelled and the iPad spellchecker got me.

In no Order:

I also would like a dwarf heavy AP in Five Kings Mountains. Throne of Night might scratch this itch.

I would like to see AP in Taldor and Qadira dealing with hostilities.

I really like the idea of a AP in Absalom City.

A Dragon Campaign. I would like good dragons help and/or giving information in the campaign not just an Evil Dragons as adversaries. Maybe the AP could delve into Dragon politics/culture.

Also any AP in Osirion, Numeria or Geb would interest me.

further to this, and from post above.....

can make dragons, also very long lived, a big theme of the AP. maybe each module features 1 or 2 shades of dragon, and the much negotiate with the 'metallics' and campaign against the 'coloured'. of course the dragon isnt neccarily a dragon, can used hybrid types things.....

The Source of the Sylvan Soul sums my ideas up for mod 1.

1. I broke down a couple that were grouped in my last count and after re reading the thread I had miscounted votes for Azlant/Aboleths.
2. The Intrigue line is *any type of intrigue in *any location (Mostly Taldor, Galt, Andoran, Absolom etc) votes for intrigue in *location went there and votes for a more generic adventure in *location went into that location.

A Realm of the Mammoth lords AP...I think a prehistoric type setting would make an awesome AP

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 32

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm one of those people who don't like to mix genres. I'm not particularly excited about any technology in an AP. However, it would be fun for an AP to visit various planets or planes. Stepping through a glowing portal into the unknown is fun.

A robot AP, THE HORROR, especially if the entire bestiary is crawling with terminators, I.T.s and R2D2's

1) SOmething based on greek mythology
2) Something based on the new world, with strange creatures from the new world.
3) Other strange planets, except for planets with futuristic creatures on it or hippo's with guns, also not robot planets. YEs i'm talking about Numeria here.

The First World

Planets/Space(Especially Castrovel and Akiton)

The Planes

Sand box like Kingmaker but with a big focus on exploration.

Numeria

Arcadia

Sarusan

Garund

Azlant

Vudra

Dragon focused AP were the final boss is a dragon(possible unique type) and all the bosses for the other APs are dragons or dragon related.

Time Travel

Treasure Hunting

Prehistoric Adventure

Visiting the planet Earth.

Tian Xia(but this time we start there.)

Osirin

Mana Waste

Under Water

One were you play has Vikings/Linnorm Kingdom.

Dark Archive

I would really like to see an extra-planar adventure path.

Perhaps start in a new part of Golarion like the world-wound and lead the PC's on an epic tour through the planes of existence.

There are so many interesting monsters and creatures from the 3 bestiaries that never see much play due to the introduction of new monsters in every AP and a focus on more tried-and-true opposition.

We really want to see a fleshed out new AP in the grand traditions of a Paladin in Hell, putting the book of the damned to good use!

My vote is an extraplanar AP that takes PC's to the designers limits of imagination and creativity. Some dark extra-planar, and fantastic fantasy art needs to accompany these AP's...possibly instead of the short story, have a full 6 pages of full-color artwork for this AP.

I would run it in a heartbeat. Already I'm trying to figure out how to take my pirates in Skull&Shackles campaign to the Abyss.

Was that one dreamlands vote mine?

Because if it was, I remember at least one other supporter for that one...

Not entirely in the dreamlands, mind you, but going in and out of NPCs dreams and such. That's a really cool conceit for a campaign with a ton of WAY out-there dungeons.

That'd be me. I really want a Dreamlands AP. It's probably my favorite part of the mythos.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Okay, first of all I don't know Golarion well (though I like most of what I've seen of it), if I knew it better I might have more setting suggestions. Certainly some of the remarks about Numeria on the first page are intriguing.

Having said that, some things I'd like to see in rough order of enthusiasm would be:

1. Megadungeon

2. Something where dragons play a big part!

(Just looked back at those two suggestions juxtaposed together and thought, does anyone remember what this game was called pre-Paizo, again? Neither dungeons nor dragons have been much in evidence in the APs I've read...)

3. Something pulpy that takes place, in significant part, elsewhere in the solar system than Golarion

4. Aboleth/Illithid/other Lovecraftish nastiness conspiracy with lots of crazy WTF stuff going on

5. Something with a significant underwater component

6. Grand Final Fantasy-ish quest across much of Golarion - big epic quest, airships, situations that aren't what they seem, seemingly major villains doing heel-face turns, set pieces that introduce the players (and in a case like me the DM too) to many and diverse bits of the setting - something like this could be a great jumping-on point for newcomers, among other merits.

Note that it wouldn't be hard to do two, or by choosing carefully even three, of these in the same AP.

I really want an ap about the Kytons.

While its unlikely as it would probably cause all sorts of canon related problems, world war in the Inner Sea. Cheliax, Taldor, Qadira et al. come to a boil and full on war breaks out.

I think the only big wars we can expect are Cheliax vs Andoren (and the former will probably stamp out the latter with ease if nobody comes over to help), Taldor vs Qadira (after someone makes an epic fail on a Diplomacy check) and perhaps Molthune vs Nirmathas. And yeah, the setting isn't ready for such things.

And yeah, the setting isn't ready for such things.

I'm not so sure that Cheliax would have such a decisive advantage. Yes, they're probably stronger now than they were when Andoran first broke away, but it's always been my impression that the House of Thrune is something of a paper tiger. I'm sure their military outnumbers Andoran's, but if I recall correctly they've got major problems with institutional corruption and minor rebellions cropping up more or less constantly. The people of Andoran, on the other hand, are attached enough to their way of life and hostile enough to Cheliax that they'd be willing to fight to the last for every square inch of Andoren soil.

This is, actually, why I think an adventure path set against the backdrop of a war between Cheliax and Andoran could work so well. Having learned from the example of Molthune's various failed attempts to subjugate Nirmathas, House Thrune is almost certainly aware that an invasion of Andoran could easily turn into an untenable quagmire. They're probably also aware, though they'd never admit it, that Cheliax still isn't really in any condition to fight a long war of attrition. Therefore, in order to reclaim their wayward province and put an end to those meddling Eagle Knights, they would almost certainly resort to some sort of skullduggery involving assassinations, infiltration and corruption of the Andoren government by fiendish agents, ancient magical weapons of mass destruction, giant unstable portals big enough to march an army of devils though... all the kinds of plots that plucky bands of adventurers love to foil.

So I guess I cast my vote for a Cheliax/Andoran conflict AP, which I think would allow for a great combination of war story type adventures and high intrigue, while still having plenty of opportunities for more conventional dungeon crawls or perilous journeys.

Liberty's Edge

One other idea I had, which I thought could be really cool, was an AP centered on Andoran's colonies in Arcadia. The PCs could be exiles, runaways, and/or political dissidents of various sorts seeking a new life in the "New World". While you could definitely do a Kingmaker-style nation-building path, I'm imagining something more akin to a small band of pioneers trying to make it on an unforgiving frontier; battling the elements and strange monsters unknown in Avistan, negotiating with fractious and (initially) hostile local peoples, and maybe even having a sort of cross-over with a larger conflict between Cheliax and Andoran in the form of a fantasy analogue of the French and Indian war.

Silver Crusade

I have to echo the call for an Osirion based AP. I've been in love with the Mythos, and would love to see support for that region that an AP would bring.

After that, Numeria and Distant Worlds always get my interest. Add to that a Kaer Maga mega dungeon headed up by Sutter, and super longshots, a Vudra AP and a First World AP as they would require the most Jade Regent region level of support to work.

Outer planes.

whats the place with the crashed space ship? 1 vote for that.

land of of limnorms? 1 vote for that

assault of the citadel of the red mantis cult? 1 vote for that! (oooh the traps and horror!)

A film Noir style game set in Alkenstar could be really fun. you know with all the classic cliches, Dwarven leg breaker with a heart of gold, seedy parts of town, etc etc. Kinda like the Garret P.I series(which i highly recommend BTW). maybe even a few Steampunk bits thrown in, although i wouldn't be heartbroken if they didn't include them.

Liberty's Edge

A lot of these ideas would make for good 64 page modules. So I have started up a sister thread over here. I encourage you to post ideas over there.

Especially Numeria, since I think a Numeria module is a lot more likely than an AP.

I'd look at the cycle of developers (Rob/James/Rob/James) and consider who is excited by what topics. Not that either couldn't do an awesome job with anything, and not that Adam isn't brilliant with the backmatter.

(I had a long post, but I decided to not muddy the waters so much)>

Food for thought.
