Spoiler:
I am kind of surprised that Khari is still in the hands of Cheliax, but I’m also really pleased that I was correct the Shackles took advantage of the Glorious Reclamation and went after Chem ports.

I would recommend however, to not lead with accusations of price gauging, etc. Paizo staff have a history of being fairly forthcoming and willing to engage on some of our policies and business practices, but that willingness is going to evaporate really quickly if the conversation starts by saying our pricing structure is tantamount to stealing from our community.

It feels really weird that I have to Wait until next year to get the information needed to get access to the Red Mantis Assassin Prestige. As far as I know Sawtoothed Sabers are Uncommon with no access method to get trained beyond being a Cleric of Achaekek? Without the cleric info the archetype is basically only useful for GMs. Now, In this case I am a GM and can fudge the rules (I need the info for a GM character for Age of Ashes to shore up my all melee party of 7 players, none of whom have thievery or religion trained, because I have lost all common sense) but it effectively locks out players, doesn't it?

The Vidrian section actually does answer most of my suggestions about the problems that the new nation would face. Many of those problems did in fact occur, and so far Vidrian seems to have dealt with them successfully. Mzali is probably their biggest problem at the moment.

The Red Mantis Dedication requires you to already have access to the Sabers. The dedication simply makes it so that your proficiency scales up as if it was something you'd normally be proficient in.

I finally got a second look at it.

As it is written now, only a fighter can qualify for this dedication feat (as they are indeed trained with all advanced weapons), but they would have to get their physical sawtooth sabers some other way, as you correctly point out that there is nothing in this book granting access to that weapon.

I suspect that they intended for membership in the Red Mantis Assassins to grant access to that weapon, so that is something we should propose as errata for this book.

It doesn’t need errata when you actually look at in setting rather than as flavor agnostic mechanics that anyone anywhere can take.

If you want to be a Red Mantis Assassin you go to Mediagalti and train with the Red Mantis Assassins. If you’re in their base training withe them you have access to their weapons.

To Erik Mona, James, Jacobs, or Mark Moreland: A moment of your time, please?

I’ve not read through all the posts (400+) on this product, but can we please address the elephant in the corner?

This book is $36 for 136 pages of content. That equals out to roughly $.22 per page. Comparatively, the Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rule book contains 640 pages and goes for $60, a break down of about $.09 per page. And the pdf for the new CRB is only $15 compared to the $25 for the pdf of the World Guide... for less content.

I love the direction PF2 is headed. I was a skeptic during the play test, but the final product really turned me around. It is incredible and flexible, a joy to both run and play. I want to help sell this game (and the product line that follows!) but that is hard to do when the price point seems so out of whack. From what I’ve been lead to believe, the Campaign Setting line and Companion line have now been merged into this new Campaign Setting line, and all future products will be hardcover... I think that’s a fair idea. But the Companion line was what most player’s bought, often getting subscriptions since the print run for that was known to be much smaller than the more “evergreen” hardcover books. this was balanced out by the affordability of the hardcover books in pdf form.

If this price point continues, I’m afraid the push-back will be players either sticking with PF1 or leaving for other games. this is especially true of charging so much for the pdf products, a virtual book that costs nothing extra to produce that that isn’t already accounted for in the print model. I implore you to consider lowering the cost of these books. At the very least, look at lowering the price point for the pdfs.

I’d hate to start losing players over this when it can be addressed and adjusted.

Thank you for your time.

Scanning through, I just saw this post and apologize if my recent post needs to be removed. Is there another thread discussing this that my post can be redirected to?

I want to be clear—I love the new World Guide. I have no idea how Paizo decides its pricing. My only concern is that this will affect sales and cost us players right out of the gate, especially for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. I wouldn’t have said anything if it wasn’t a concern of my constituents.

Silver Crusade

If you want to discuss pricing it’d be best to just make a new thread at this point.

Is it just me or are the covers of the book thinner than those used for other books? They just seem more flexible and less likely to last.

There’s two poster maps of the Inner Sea, one stylized and the other realistic, but I haven’t seen a world map sorry.

Not quite..

We were going to reprint the world map in Lost Omens World Guide VERY early in that book's creation, but not at a bigger size—woulda been a direct reprint of the one in the Core Rulebook. It quickly became apparent that we wouldn't have room for that reprinted map in the World Guide, alas. We'll do more with the world map eventually, trust me, but for now, publishing it in the Core Rulebook, AKA the book that will hit the most number of eyes, potentially, of ANY Pathfinder book we've published, is a pretty solid vector by which to get this map out there for folks to see.

Assuming they don't just skip over Chapter 8 in the Core Rules, which would hurt my feelings since that's the chapter I wrote. :-P

There's a chapter 8!?

All kidding aside, pI liked the creature and religion sections of chapter 8 of the core rulebook and was hoping for something like them in the world guide.

With that said, are the dark lands no longer a core part of golarion? They're not given a section in either book.

The Darklands didn't go anywhere. We just didn't have the room.

They weren't forgotten in the overview, at least.

Maybe it's just because I am already used to the huge Core Rulebook, but now that I have the physical book, I can see why some are balking at the price. This book looks and feels so small. I can see how someone browsing at a bookstore would think twice before dropping $36.
However, I think this particular book is worth it (with the subscription discount and free PDF).

Is this worth while as amazon have now re-extended my delays to:

Tanya DePass "Pathfinder Lost Omens World Guide (P2)"
Estimated arrival date: October 15 2019 - December 01 2019

Tempted to just cancel as this is now getting ridiculous. Its always been bad getting PF physical products in the UK but up to 4 month delays is beyond that.

A question about the Runescarred, though this could apply to any dedication that includes some kind of spell casting ability. Does it include a spell casting DC? What ability modifier is used if one is called for?

Just wanted to let folks know, we currently have all the remaining Lost Omen's World Guide books reserved for pending paizo.com orders.

We are doing a reprint of the book. If you want to start a Lost Omen subscription with the World Guide and the website gives you trouble due to its backorder status, start with the Pathfinder Lost Omens Character Guide and let customer service know you'd like to add the World Guide as well. You can do this up until the Pathfinder Lost Omens Character Guide becomes the "current" item to start (late Sept?) when we are generating October's items.

With the release of this book will we ever get a large comprehensive release of all the past pathfinder one world building content? It is kinda all too much to buy/grab separately. A compendium/omnibus would be an immediate buy as well.
