At Ted's notion of getting your mind devoured, Solaria takes a short step back, "Can't say the sound of that appeals, got another option Ted? If you get your mind shredded like that guy, you'll make even less sense. she giggles, until she realises the danger they are putting themselves in and quickly clams up, slightly red-faced.

After a moments pause, she adds "A Dome has always felt like a friendly shape, though no doubt that will change. So we might as well go for the dome. Yes, Die in Another Dome .. a great holofilm. Hope we're as lucky." she tries to raise her spirits at the prospect.

"If we can see them from the window, would it not be better to shoot from the window and provide covering fire as we open the doors. Did you ever go to the holorama and see Butch Cassidireena and the Sundance Kiddio, when they did just what you suggest. It was the final shot of the holofilm, they both died. So are you sure it's what we want to do." Solaria asks concerned that they would be walking straight into Tahomen's trap. "We should not underestimate him."

She scratches her head, "We want to take him on our terms, not his. If we open the doors and wait, perhaps it will draw them in, particularly if Sydney can do pot shots from a window position. After all Tahomen has the ability to use techno-magic, perhaps he expects us to just rush out and attack. It would be all to easy for them to prepare for that. But then I only know about these things from holofilms." Solaria sighs leaving the fighting strategy to the experienced ones. "Or we could try talking our way out...first..."

Solaria hearing Riahti's voice, suddenly breaks from her group, dropping her bags and runs, arms open wide towards her old friend, amid screams of delight "OOH Riahti... yes hi ... how are you!! ... ohh my you look great ..." She takes Rhiahti in a warm embrace, her eyes smiling with an occasional tear. Her words leaving her mouth before they have fully formed, in a torrent of barely distinguishable Lashunta. She giggles as the two females talk words over one another, though not really caring, just enjoying the moment of their re-connection. Before they break off their bear hug and place one another at arms length, looking one another up and down, as though making sure that nothing was out of place, taking in the other's presence.

After these moments of joyous reunion, Solaria invites Riahti to meet her new friends, as she does so taking out her datapad. Her hands flash over the devices controls, pulling up the latest shorts from Zo! Productions. "Look, she says excitedly, here we are exploring a derelict spacecraft. It's ours now...." and see... as she quickly shows Riahti their exploits as Starfinders and listens to Riahti's stories of the goings on at the motel. "My rooms 201x, come up when you've finished your shift and we can have drinks and some pizza."

......

Later when she introduces Riahti to the group, "You saw Isu, right. Here's here on a mission to clear the Five Arches of a mob of deadly halfling pizza producing hoodlums.... " she giggles.. before lowering her voice talking secretively into Riahti's ear, "He's really brave .. and strong... He's a hero!"

Then seeing Sydney lying back, sunglasses on despite being indoors in relatively dim lights. Sydney giving the impression that she is napping and eating, in that cool way she has, "This is Sydney, you saw her too, she's that ace pilot the flew the spaceship to the moon, fighting and beating mercenary sent to kill us." her antennae twitch as she communicates with Riahti, Sometimes I wish I was like her, you know she's sooo cool..

"Then this is our friend Arc, he's got links here, his dad in the Dean of the university. Arc has powers and is a great fighter, just like Isu. But Arc has these powers linked to the sun, he's a real catch." she winks at Riahti and digs her gently in the ribs.

"Then there's Ted over there. He's weird, he just spends his time with his datapad looking at engineering designs and doing things with technology." she lowers her voice once more, "He has these mysterious powers too, he can harm enemies just by pointing at them, weird!"

Finally she introduces Spectre, but only after her antennae twitch warning Riahti of Spectre's morals built around the expediency of making credits by whatever means, anything he does is motivated by the credits at the end. But then tempers it with knowing that Spectre has always been there at dangerous moments when her friends needed him. "See, this is Spectre, he repaired the damage to the ship, after we got in another fight. Without him, we might have drifted aimlessly in space, we could have even died!" her eyes open in astonishment at the thought.

As each introduction is made, Solaria shows a clip from her datapad featuring the exploits of that Starfinder. Finishing with, "We are all Starfinders now!!"

..........

Solaria spends the evening eating and drinking with Riahti, until one by one others leave and the two Lashuntas return to Solaria's room for a sleep-over. Eventually they both lie down on the bed asleep with the exhaustion and happiness of a reunited friendship.

Her mind whirrs with thoughts as she is whisked from one place to another, Ambassador Nor's assertions regarding contracts, Solaria's antennae twitch in a random sequence as her mind tries to make sense of the whole thing. Her mind reaches into Ambassador Nor's consciousness, We have done our best, with Isu and Arc leading the way in hand to hand combat with the killing blue creatures from the drift. We found your cargo, before we were abandoned in the Aecron, to make our own way back. Did you receive your cargo? was it brought back when our ship left the surface? She pauses as her antennae momentarily stand motionless on her head.

We have been set upon by assassins, by creatures from the drift and the remains of those who lost their lives. And we return as some sort of reality show stars. WHAT WILL MY PARENTS SAY when they see this!!!... Really, it's been most unsavoury that someone should profit from our endeavours to provide you with the answers you required. Someone should use us like this, we demand that we get our rightful rewards, now that the Pact Worlds have seen us overcome our hardships. And Zo! and his team, let us get on with real work! We never asked for it!! Have you let us down? How can you right these wrongs done to us? Her face deepens in colour as her antennae start to twitch more quickly as she faces the ambassador. She turns to her friends and says quietly to them, "I just told him, sorry you didn't hear, I got carried away."

"Morning starfinders, great that you have had such a relaxing time, but the First Seeker has new instructions, time for action. Please you can you halt the relaxation program and return to action stations. We have incoming, could be a threat. We need all able bodied starfinders to return to their ships and prepare. All civilians must be evacuated back to the starships as we suspect that the planet is threatened, and loss of life could be imminent." She looks around the picnic area, a puzzled look on her brow, "Hmmmm, when we get back, remind me to get the programming changed, there are anomolies with the plant life. On Castrovel you would never get a great blue ostrichas plant growing up next to the aggressive golden bloomrist strangler, which would send creepers out and strangle the life from nearby plants and unlucky small creatures. Surely the program should have factored that into it's reality program. I know they look good together, but really the program ought to be better than that." she points to the two plants growing peacefully to the side of the picnic area.

Expertise (extra d6 for bluff):

EXPERTISE You are an expert at dealing with challenges that test your skills, be the challenges social or otherwise. At 1st level, when attempting a Sense Motive check, you can roll 1d6 (your expertise die) and add the result of the roll to your check as an insight bonus. You can use this and other expertise abilities as long as you have at least 1 Resolve Point remaining. At 5th level, anytime you roll your expertise die, you gain a +1 bonus to the result. At 9th, 17th, and 20th levels, this bonus increases by 1. At 13th level, you roll 1d8 as your expertise die instead of 1d6.
Beginning at 9th level, you have even greater expertise with skills to which you can add your expertise die that you have also selected with the Skill Focus feat. For each such skill, once per day when rolling your expertise die to add to that skill, you may roll the expertise die twice and take the better of the two results.
SKILL EXPERTISE At 1st level and every 4 levels thereafter, you can use expertise with one additional class skill. You must have at least 1 rank in a skill to select it, and it must come from the following list: Bluff (Cha), Computers (Int), Culture (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disguise (Cha), Engineering (Int), Intimidate (Cha), and Medicine (Int).

Zoicoluu's antennae twitch as she speaks directly to The Umbral Dawn's mind, With your skills with weapons, you should surely take the glory of gunning the enemy and taking them down. The captain is merely a figurehead for the ship, the real skills lie with those who can pilot, aim and fire the weapons, maintain the life support systems and engines. A captain is the smallest part, not worthy of your concern. The lashunta looks once more to the screen showing the Scoured Stars system as they approach.

She looks at the others in the group, Ella, Centian, Spanner and 6ix, "Friends, I am not much of an engineer or know a great deal about science, so I can either help by taking the captain's chair or try to use the weapons. I apologise, but I might best be suited to sit in the captain's chair. You all have skills and abilities I can only admire and wonder at."

"What!" Pytho-7 utters in android disbelief. The green lines on his head turn dark, a dark purple. He walks, slowly towards the booth, "I said turn those damn lights off, some of us react badly, say about 8% of us react badly, to spotlights." He follows Wazasha, remembering that This is a payment, for funds to The First Seeker. Hmmmm, hope she got a lot of credits and UPC for this Be nice and informative.

After tidying up some of the goblin bodies, his hands are covered in goblin gore, their blood still drip slowly from his index finger, though it is rapidly congealing. "This booth, I expect you have cleaning facilities? Or does your audience revel in the sight of this carnage?" he asks the producer as he raises both bloody hands.

Still he walks in the booth, still covered in the blood and flesh, "You have 100% clarification as to my android heritage. I have 80% knowledge of the electrical circuits found in Pact space stations. This skill is essential to the Starfinders in maintaining their starfleet. As you can see from these tools, I have been an electrician droid for hire. See this positron wrench, now that is really useful. I picked this tool up when visiting the Diaspora region. I guess if I can get out of the Diaspora region, I have a 92.7% chance of getting out of anywhere. But that's is not a very useful fact, what is useful is the wrench." Pytho-7 begins to give electrical engineering lessons, using the tools as props, going into the history of his acquisition of each individual tool.

This quickly gets Wazasha to move onto other subjects, about the mission and the Starfinders group. "I compute that we can successfully deal with 35.2% of most known unfriendly creatures. We do not know what we will find here, I hope you have contingency plans for your camera crews. Despite the strange behavior of Rora and Lynn, in setting themselves up as targets, which give them a 54.3% chance of being killed first, Grinds seems indestructible and my initial analysis concludes he deals with challenges by force, very successfully, though the exact probability is not easy to complete, with so little data I can access. Verus is much the same as Grinds, they will provide your viewers with 87.$% of the kills from the group, though this figure will change as more data becomes available. I have no data for Doc, he is for my current analysis useless, except he is part of Grinds. No I mean friends with Grinds."

When asked about his own ineffectual contribution to the last fight, Pytho-7 replies, "It was not necessary for Pytho-7 to be involved in combat, Grinds and Verus dealt with the threat. Pytho-7 was hampered by the bright lights of the camera crew which interfered with the response. Turning off lights, is requested, to aid identification of threats and targeting. Please comply!."

Flames as bright as a torch appear in your open hand. The flames harm neither you nor your equipment.

In addition to providing illumination, the flames can be hurled or used to touch enemies. You can strike an opponent with a melee touch attack, dealing fire damage equal to 1d6 + 1 point per caster level (maximum +5). Alternatively, you can hurl the flames up to 120 feet as a thrown weapon. When doing so, you attack with a ranged touch attack (with no range penalty) and deal the same damage as with the melee attack. No sooner do you hurl the flames than a new set appears in your hand. Each attack you make reduces the remaining duration by 1 minute. If an attack reduces the remaining duration to 0 minutes or less, the spell ends after the attack resolves.

Saturday:

As the mist dissipates you find yourself in a built up sandstone town, standing in the middle of the grey gravel town square, which is all but deserted. From a yellow stone large church in front, you catch the glint of armoured men hurrying inside, as though late for some occasion. Their glinting armour is covered with fine linen coloured fabric, patterns of heraldic symbols of eagles and swords flap in the draft of their run.

Saturday follows into the church, where the pews are full of towns people and the warriors who sit at the front, lines of soldiers of the faiths singing an anthem of the triumph of Iomedae over the daemons from the Worldwound. The banners of the soldiers line the sides of the church, hanging colours of white and red crosses, of green and black dragons, yellow snakes on a black background, a burst of colour in the grey world that Saturday inhabits. From behind the preacher, a woman wearing simple white robes covered with a golden swords motif, leads the singing, standing behind a lectern on which a grand gold and leather bound book sits. The choir behind, their voices singing with the tones of angels praise the gods, giving glory to Iomedae for the victories over evil.

Saturday stows his weapons away and following directions from the ushers, is given a place on the front row. He looks and sees an almost perfect face of the woman preacher, her golden hair framing her pale face, her sparkling blue eyes shining out love and her rosey cheeks and red lips speak of compassion. Saturday sits entranced, joining the joy of the service, until he and the congregation sit and give their full attention to the preacher as she speaks the words from the golden book.

It is minutes into the sermon, when Saturday first notices that the lectern is in the shape of a talon, a large birds claw, holding the book. It is the first indication that not all is as it seems. Saturday blinks as his attention is transferred to the silver and golden claw, it seems to move, almost as though the claw is tightening on the tome. The preacher, her voice clear and serene, doesn't seem to notice the imperceptible changes. Even as the gold and silver seem to flake off from the claw, revealing a strong black talon underneath. Still the cleric continues on unconcerned. Saturday feels a mild panic welling in his body, he looks around the rest of the church, the banners still hang, though their colours seem to have darkened, the brightness and liveliness of the different hues look lacklustre and dead. Maybe it is just the passing of the sun behind a cloud, that could be it. The warriors of the faith that sit alongside Saturday carry on their attentive listening to the woman, entranced by her words not seeing the changes.

Saturday looks forward once again, he sees the glitter from the lectern is gone. As the panic takes hold, no longer is the talon inanimate, but now it seems to pulse with life, sharp, sharp claw like points at the end of the talon drip red, red blood as the holy book is being crushed by the powerful pincer. The book, its title showing, The 11 Miricles of Iomedae, bleeds, as though it too is a living text. Saturday stands, his throat dry, wanting to call out and warn the young preacher of the changing lectern, but still she carries on, as though nothing has changed. Saturday feels the words strangled in his throat, he looks around, surely someone must see what he sees. Yet the warriors and the congregation notice nothing untoward, their attention given fully to the woman standing at the lectern and projecting her sermon to those who can hear.

Returning his gaze to the young woman, she continues her holy homily, but despite her words and demeanour, a red stain appears in the centre of her white robe, spherical and growing. Behind her, Saturday catches sight of movement, a black hairy head, not human, an ape. Its size growing, exuding evil, fear. Saturday, his lips dry and parched move as he shouts a warning, but no sound is heard. Instead the ape just gets larger, in its hand a club as the preacher in white falls forward on her knees, a look of agony now in her eyes, she clutches her stomach the centre of the growing bloody mark. Saturday looks around the church for help, but the army of warriors is gone, the congregation and banners vanished. Saturday is alone in the darkening church. Unable to protect her, Saturday watches in horror as the ape grows in stature, the book is squeezed to a bloody pulp and the pleading eyes of Iomedae's maiden cannot be saved from the giant club that even now is raised to end her life.

And in Saturday's head all that he hears is "Revenge is mine."

Saturday wakes with a start, his body sweating, in the dark he can make out the shadows of his friends and the boilers.

I'll have to have a look at that ... but it sounds a great mystery to have .... great for this game ... he says without looking at any of the details ... ;-)

You sure is not the Darc Tapestry ...

Late addition tot he post, after I read the story continuation.
Just to clarify, Darc has not connected 'The Stirge' with Varian ... so he currently means it ... so hope you don't mind this bit of inter party confrontation ...

Darc listens and gives a wry smile, "Two heads are better than one, more heads to punch." he remarks to Elise. He spends his time watching the colorful ferryfolk, relaxing as they make their way across Sister Lyme, even humming along with the tune being played. Even as he does this, he pulls his cloak tightly around him, to keep from the cooler night air.

Sense Motive on any of the folk moving closer to him and his friends. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Apologies, but RL means I'm not able to continue with any of the games on the boards.

I would like to thank you for a fantastic game with a great bunch of players and GM, had a real ball. So it is with sadness I have had to withdraw. Once life is more settled, I will hopefully start up again, so I wish you well in the future and maybe I'll catch up then and see how you all got on.

More than happy to play with you all again and maybe I'll even start and GM.

Excited to be here and looking forward to the game, so meet Khairam the Keleshite Investigator. A somewhat awkward man dealing with other people as he seems more interested in the papers he has spread on the table in front of him. A small goblet of wine holds the end of the parchment down, Khairam points to a spot, "El Akriban, you can take us there? You know that place?" His dark eyes turn to the dwarf.

Rhianni starts to make her voice carry to her allies, "remember the saga of the of the grey company. The time they entered the caverns of the ancients, home to the great worm of Quaria, the gargantuan purple destroyer of life. The Rangers of the grey, humans, elves and assorted race, came together to pepper the tough armoured hide with arrows to rain down in a cloud of death. Blood streaming in red rivers of foul smelling liquid, before the dwarves of the grey, did bring their hammers down in a continual battering, their blows resounding and echoing through the cavern like a battle of thunder gods. Yet the worm did not go down, it's mandibles crushing its foes, mangled bodies of dwarves, lying in a sea of blood and gore. It seemed like days, but was in just that evening the.cabavern gave up its occupant, and the purple worm lay dead at the feet of the grey, their triumph and glory forever sung through the halls of Golarian, their names remembered long after their days passed, Sebastian of Magnimar whose sword did cut so deep, Tagnuk dwarves Lord of the deep, whose hammer lay shattered from its mighty blows..." and so Rhianni listed the heroes of the grey company, inspiring her companions to greater feats.

I will assume that Talinthas is still using his shield to cover his eyes so he doesn't see the creature's gaze.

Despite the cover afforded by the iron bars and Roary's large frame, Talinthas is unerringly accurate with his strike. His bastard sword comes down on the creature's flank leaving a deep gouge in its armored flesh.

Tiasar stays quietly in the background watching the combat before him, though his face and eyes seem to be concentrating on something really important.

The reptile, it's eyes blinded by the black cloth sticking to its head across its eyes, worries about the impediment, but not as much as the pain it feels from Talinthas' strike. Feeling the presence of warm flesh in front of him, smelling the sweat the drips down into the clothes, it lunges forward biting at something large, soft and fleshy. Against the self imposed blindness of the tough barbarian, the teeth of the reptile close around Roary's upper leg and buttocks, crushing and ripping into his soft pink Ulfen flesh. Tasting the blood of its foe, the reptile steps backwards and tries to scratch the cloth from it's eyes, with its two front clawed legs, whilst shaking its head from side to side.

Roary takes 7 points of damage from the creatures bite attack,
Roary's AC=11, from rage AC=15-2(blind)-2(dex/blind)

You are all up, start of next round, 2nd round for centipede. I haven't updated the map, but centipede next to beast, Crar moved up as above. Creature moved 5ft back into its cage, not in melee with anyone at the moment, unless they have reach.

I assume Crar and Talinthas will continue to avert their eyes, Roary continues to be 'blind' from keeping his eyes tightly shut. The creature gets a will save each round it tries to remove the blindfold.

DM's stuff:

Talinthas: avert eyes: 1d100 ⇒ 50
Talinthas: creature concealment 1d100 ⇒ 63
Creature suffers -2AC,

Roary AC 15 raging, -2 blinded -dex bonus -2 = 11
Beastie bite 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Blinded Concealment 1d100 ⇒ 63
Blinded Concealment reroll 1d100 ⇒ 84

Just got back from my first ever convention, PaizoConUk 2012 was great fun and really enjoyed meeting everyone and shaking their hands at The Grand Convocation. Saw some really great costumes and cool role playing.

A big thanks to Dave Harrison and Rob Silk for organizing the whole thing, hope Paizo reward you with a feat of great awesomeness for putting everything in place for a great time. A special thanks to all who DM'd and played in the games I was involved with, made me feel right at home and allowed some great moments, including Natty Grastik taking the hobgoblin's waterskin as his first action in battle to quench his insatiable thirst.

Awesome Weekend! BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE!

Reign Of Winter Slides

The relaxed atmosphere of the wake is shattered by the sudden loud knocking on the door. Kendra hurries over, opening it to the gentleman you recognise from the funeral. Kendra smiles, "Glad you've arrived Councilman Hearthmount, we've been waiting to complete the formalities."

Councilman Vashian Hearthmount enters his round face, puffed and red from the exhertion of hurrying from his last appointment. He apologies profusely to everyone as he looks around the room, frowning somewhat as he checks that everyone is present, checking you an old clutch of papers in his hand. As he looks at the armored gentleman, he takes several seconds of silence as he studies the man hard. From the corner of his eye, he waits until Kendra nods, then he continues. You get the impression that he doesn't really approve of all these 'outsiders' being here. He produces a scroll case, shows that the professor's personal seal is unbroken, then breaks the wax and opens the case. As he does so, a small iron key falls out of the tube, clattering noisily onto the table. Undaunted by the key, the councilman begins to read, seemingly eager to be done with the business and to get back home.

"Hrm,hum, quiet please, I'll begin" he pauses and clears his throat. "I, Petros Lorrimor, being of sound mind, do hereby commit to this parchment my last will and testament. Let it be known that, with the exception of the specific details below, I leave my home and personal belongings entire to my daughter Kendra. Use them or sell them as you see fit, my child.

"Yet beyond the bequeathing of my personal effects, this document must serve other needs. I have arranged for the reading of this document to be delayed until all principals can be in attendance, for I have more than mere inheritance to apportion. I have two final favors to ask.

"To my old friends, I hate to impose upon you all, but there are few others who are capable of appreciating the true significance of what it is I have to ask. As some of you know, I have devoted many of my studies to all manner of evil, that I might know the enemy and inform those better positioned to stand against it. For knowledge of one's enemy is the surest path to victory over its plans.

"And so, over the course of my lifetime, I have seen fit to acquire a significant collection of valuable but dangerous tomes, any one of which in the wrong circumstances could have led to an awkward legal situation. While the majority of these tomes remain safe under lock and key at the Lepidstadt University, I fear that a few I have borrowed remain in a trunk in my Ravengro home. While invaluable for my work in life, in death, I would prefer not to burden my daughter with the darker side of my profession, or worse still, the danger of possessing these tomes herself. As such, I am entrusting my chest of tomes to you, posthumously. I ask that you please deliver the collection to my colleagues at the University of Lepidstadt, who will put them to good use for the betterment of the cause.

"Yet before you leave for Lepidstadt, there is the matter of another favor — please delay your journey one month and spend that period of time here in Ravengro to ensure that my daughter is safe and sound. She has no one to count on now that I am gone, and if you would aid her in setting things in order for whatever she desires over the course of this month, you would have my eternal gratitude. From my savings, I have also willed to each of you a sum of one hundred platinum coins. For safekeeping, I have left these funds with Embreth Daramid, one of my most trusted friends in Lepidstadt — she has been instructed to issue this payment upon the safe delivery of the borrowed tomes no sooner than one month after the date of the reading of this will.

"I, Petros Lorrimor, hereby sign this will in Ravengro on this first day of Calistril, in the year 4710."
