"For the moment, it seems there is an evil undead Duergar running around, so maybe we could take our accounts after dealing with her, eh?" Sindarin gives Dorgen his characteristic half-smile. He then becomes more serious.

"This is dark place in more ways than one. I don't want to spend any more time here than is absolutely necessary." He glances around him, on edge and alert for danger, as he moves toward the souther door behind Mandoo and Libitina.

@Dorgen - the diary seems to be months old. You believe last entries were made around the time when the Duergars were last seen

You leave duergars quarters into a long and wide corridor. It is lined with several sconces containing ever-burning torches, making this the most litten portion of the underground that you've been to.

To the east lies a large altar topped by a massive warhammer intricately carved out of stone. Ancient magic causes flames to flicker along the length of the warhammer, much like an everburning torch. From where you are you can see that altar contains carved symbols and phrases that could be read from a closer distance. To the other side, the corridor passes into natural caves where there is the path described in the journal.

To the south, there seems to be a large chamber.

Where to?

Sindarin moves into the room with the others and checks the area for anything of interest.

If he is already searching as his exploration activity, do I need to specify that he searches the room? I think the just happens automatically now with exploration, right?

Sorry for the short post. I am sick and just not up to more today.

@Sindarin you are correct, when you are searching it assumes you look through things ;)

You walk towards the hammer symbol, all of you, especially Granitt and Dorgen suspect that it symbolizes Torag. When you come closer you see the altar to have writings in the dwarven language, and descriptions. With a bit of time, you can read the description of "Quest for Sky".

On the altar there is also a phrase written that Granitt reads out loud in dwarven "An anvil is nothing without fire," and repeats it in common

After he does that, he hear voice

"The greatest anvils require the hottest fire. Welcome to the Forever Forge."

The voice sounds and each one of you understands it, regardless if you speka Dwarven or not. A set of new torches light towards the corridor to the east.

When you follow the corridor after few minutes you stumble on a cave filled with lava that does not let you go any further. Forever Forge is another plot hook ;)

"Pardon my failures of the past, my reward is in hearing your voice submitting to your will in penance, protecting my companions." He rises, with renewed vigour, and with a contented look on his face, rather than his normal black clouds hangdog look.

He claps Dorgen on the back, "We must uphold the clans traditions and honour, this place was ours once!"

He retrieves his battle hardened battle axe and shield, raising them high, before setting them in his arms and getting ready to face the evil Duergar, his peoples nemesis. Whether they are some undead necromancer or not, Granitt's new confidence gives him hope and determination.

He marches onwards towards the natural caves and stands there guarding his companions, "Come, glory awaits."

Mrs. Perkins will search the rooms with Mandoo, focusing on detecting magic.

The small room Marked with 1 that Mandoo enters was once a storehouse for food, cloth, and other supplies, but its contents rotted centuries ago. The passage leading south from here ends in a cave-in after 30 feet.

You come back and enter the other room Marked with 2.

Yeah head into the room, it is roughly empty, some time ago the floor was cleared from any debris and in the corner, there is a chest and next to it a pile of clothing and other personal items.

Chest is roughly where number 2 is, the pile of clothing and items is in the South-west corner

If you want, we can take it to the entrance and collect it on the way out."

Seeing the items and clothing in the southwest, over the chest, Granitt asks, "I don't suppose anyone has taken a look at that pile of rags and things in the corner? I don't know much but, before you discover the treasure you seek in the chest, check the easy things first." It's Dorgen, seeking treasures of the past before ridding the place of evil. You enter the room, moving slowly forwards. Mrs Perkins is looking for signs of magic but nothing specific comes up, she constantly feels necromantic energy lingering in the air. You move slowly forwards feeling the tension in the air.

As Granitt moves from the side entrance and moves next to the chest you first hear and then see assembling bones. Two warriors clad in armor are here to attack. Dorgen is too close to the fight for comfort. So he quickly retreats to the back of the room, then casts a spell on Sindarin's bow.

"Here you go lad, have fun with this."

Magic Weapon. Sinarin, your bow deals an extra die of damage, and you get a +1 to hit.

[Oh my. Looks like it got a lucky hit in]

[Ha ha. I see your sense of humor remains intact]

Libitina takes another whack at the skeleton while Mandoo restores Libitina's protective aura ("ହାଡକୁ ହାର୍ଡେନ କରନ୍ତୁ"). He then sweeps his hand and flings a spell at the skeleton ("ଜୀବନ୍ତ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କୁ ବ୍ୟାଘାତ କର").

Mandoo will use the reaction on the first attack that deals more than 5 hit points of damage.

Mandoo Action 2 & 3 (◆◆): Cast a Spell: Disrupt Undead vs Red Champion

Dorgen moves to Sindarin and casts a spell on his bow making it magic.

Granitt blocks the strike and takes a step to keep his allies within his range of influence. He swings with his ax, leaving a massive wound in the beetle. Crit Yellow -17, crit specialization does not apply as there is no enemy next to yellow :(

Then the dwarf hides behind his shield.

Libitina strikes the undead with her wing, the skeleton blocks the hit with his shield. Red -5, shield -5

Fort save, DC18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 The skeleton withstands the magical attack but the damage is enough to take it down. Success on disrupt but still red is destroyed.

Mrs. Perkins moves and sends some of her witch magic to heal Granitt's wounds.

"Och, it's a basic spell, but it comes in handy a lot of times. It's good to have when you need to pack some extra punch." Dorgen grins and tries to pass it off as a minor thing, but he's happy that he's able to help out.

Sindarin, who are you attacking, anyway? If it's the same targets as last round, you might want to specify. Damage type might also be good to specify, in case of damage resistances.
Also, if I read the rules correctly, yeah, you need to keep directing your animal every single turn. It's a bit unintuitive, but otherwise you get a lot of actions for free. At level 6 or so you can take a feat that gives Brook 1 action every turn, even if you don't direct her.

Sorry, I thought I made that clear in the descriptive text. They are attacking the same one as before (red)...However, I see now that red was taken down. I was in a rush last night and missed that. So they are attacking yellow instead. If yellow goes down before their turn, Sindarin will call Brook back and shoot the bug. He doesn't want her in melee with that thing.

Thanks for the clarification about handling Brook. That was my assumption, but it does seem counterintuitive!

Brook attacks the other champion, but misses both times.

Sindarin sends two arrows but only the first one goes past the shield. hit green -1 due to resistance to piercing

Champion keeps on swinging at Libitina, his wounds healing

Sword@Libitina: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Sword@Libitina: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 5 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Both strikes hit and Mandoo protects Libitina from some of the damage of the first hit. The second hit catches Libitina in her neck leaving a massive wound, but Granitt intervenes protecting her.First resisted but deals -5 to Mandoo, and second -24+6(granitt reaction) = -18 due to being a crit. That makes you dying 2, prone and Libitina disappears right?

Then undead raises his shield.

Beetle heals and strikes at Granitt

Stirke@Granitt: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Damage, piercing: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Stirke@Granitt: 1d20 + 12 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 5 = 21
Damage, piercing: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Stirke@Granitt: 1d20 + 12 - 10 ⇒ (9) + 12 - 10 = 11

But the strikes smash into Granitts shield.

I did the math as well and it looks like you got it right to me. Strike 1 dealt 5hp (after Life Block), and strike 2 dealt 18hp (after Retributive Strike), for a total of 23hp of damage, reducing Mandoo/Libitina's hp to 25-23 = 2hp. So by my count, Mandoo/Libitina are still on their feet with 2/30hp and still in the fight, just like you have it in the encounter tracker. So unless I missed something, Mandoo is not at Dying 2, Unconscious, and Prone; and Libitina has not unmanifested. I will proceed as if this is the case. If Mandoo is out and Libitina gone, then ignore the rest of this post.

[Ugh! Even I felt that second blow. That is one lucky skeleton we're dealing with]
{It does appear to be more skilled than the first}
[Looks like your head is barely hanging on there my dear. I better do something about that before we go on]
{That would be the recommended approach in this situation}

Libitina uses her hands to keep her head from falling off while Mandoo whips open his medical supplies. He quickly applies soothing cream to himself and funnels the resulting healing to Libitina through their shared connection.

Going to take a shot at the DC 20 Battle Medicine as we're running on fumes right now.

Made it. Coincidently, the number of hp healed exactly brings Mandoo/Libitina to full health. Now at 30/30 HP.

[There you go. Good as new my love]
{I'll get back to it then}
[Try to keep your head on your shoulders this time, eh? Ha ha]

Post eaten, oh well, saved a spell slot, I guess.

Mrs. Perkins is about to heal Mandoo, but she sees he has already helped himself. "The Inheritor helps those who help themselves!" she declares, cheerfully.

Instead, she changes her spell to one that animates her hefty tome of The Acts of Iomedae. The book walks out behind Green and slams into it.

She then shields herself.

@Mandoo - you are right, at first I forgot Granitts reaction so you were -3 dying and all that. Then I fixed the tracker but not the text ;) PBP classic ;)

Mandoo begins to patch himself, and as a result Libitina feels better as well. Healed to full

Then he sends disrupting magic to destroy the undead

Fortitude, DC18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 Fail so green -8

Libitina attacks but her strike hits undead's shield.

Brook attacks but misses, then he retreats. Do you want me to move Brook

Sindari sends an arrow at undead but misses. Your hunt pray was on red, so you have to use one action to designate green as your pray if you want to use -3. Both attacks would miss so I will let you do that for green
