Ysold suddenly starts to cough with a smile on her face and mutters something under her breath about 'recruits' and 'gargling'.

She moves into another room, where she resides for a while, and comes back about 40 seconds later with watery eyes.

"Sorry. It's that bad cough from earlier." She takes out her waterskin and takes a nice chug. "That should do it...", sme smiles at Astrid. "No, really - Astrid is a beautiful name. Why did you use ...", a hint of a grin flickers across her face, but she somehow holds it back - "... the other thing?"

"It involves a boat oars, a bucket of green paint and a rubber chicken." Astrid grins. "My commanding officer learned an important lesson that day: don't haze the newcomers. After he was kicked off the force, my replacement XO called me the Gargler. I guess that's the noise my original superior made when I forced him to-" she catches herself. "I'll tell you more about it later." She gives Themolin a side eyed glance. "Looks like everyone wants out of here, even the lucky ones." Themolin looks away and shirks back.

Thursday, 16:00

The Rockfish Inn is busy with activity. Seddothrum carefully drops several barrels of fish outside the kitchen where Daffrid's family is busy making an early dinner. Daffrid teaches Flitch, Vurna and Yuleg financial advice. Of the three, Flitch seems engaged, asking about bank notes, interest, and supply and demand.

"Let's go." she goes with the others to the Inn.

"Ok, listen up. Now we will take Astrid, Themolin, and Daffrid family to the port. Fitch will show us the way. Then we come back and begin the work to take the rest of you out tomorrow, with us."

She looks around at the faces of others and she brushes her brown hair
"We are near leaving this city, let us stay alert and not do anything stupid. If someone attacks, stay behind us."

Says the dwarf and urges the new group to gather their belongings and move out.

Vurna gives Flitch a long, hard hug. "I'll be back, Vurna. Just give me a second." Daffrid hands Yuleg her "condensed summary" about economics and gets her family ready.

Flitch heads through the tunnels beneath the sewers. Past the ancient masonry and the modern ruins you reach natural caverns. The stench of the sewers gives way to the salty scent of the ocean.

”Shard Cove, folks. Watch your step!” Flitch laughs. The caverns are about 10 feet high and 5 feet across.

Whomever is carrying the raft needs to make a DC 15 Acrobatics check to Squeeze or DC 15 Athletics check to Shove the raft through without damaging it. If it is damaged, the Crafting skill will be useful to repair it.

Jac takes the raft trying to squeeze it through the gap, he has great difficulty and smiles weakly at his companions ... "Oops, didn't see that nail sticking out of the wall." as the raft scrapes on entering the cavern.

Jacknife doesn't notice the nail, but there doesn't seem to be any long lasting damage done. The Raft's Hardness absorbed the damage.

You reach the cove and you see a ship about 250 feet from the coast. ”We need the raft. I’ve heard there are predators in the water. And lots of jagged rocks, really hard to see. How many people can fit on this thing, anyway?” Flitch takes a quick look at it, wishing he was on it.

The raft holds 6 people, the ship holds 5. Who is on the raft? Who will stay on the coast?

She is fine to go either way. with a few distance spells she can cover either way and I also have the reach spell feat

Quickblade's crossbow has a range of 120 feet, about half the distance. -4 penalty max to ranged attacks since it's going to be slightly outside my 2nd range increment. He also doesn't know the first thing about steering a raft... depending on whether we will see combat or not, might be better if Quickblade stays on land (I'm half afraid I might need to do an Athletics/Acrobatics check to reload the crossbow so that I don't tip the raft every round!

"I will go on the raft, we can split the others into two groups."

So the ones that can attack from afar stay on shore: Avonatha and Quickblade, the rest goes to the raft. We first transport Themolin and Asrtid and then the family.

Daffrid's husband and children board the ship. "Take care of my wife..." He smiles and holds his kids as they climb on.

As you begin navigating across the seas, you keep an eye out for danger.

Quickblade scans the horizon for signs of trouble. All he can see is the raft bobbing on the waves as it makes its way to the waiting ship. He can't help but worry about how small the raft is compared to the big expanse of water.

He quickly grasps the oars and spins madly, tilting the raft away from the razor sharp spire before the raft slams into it.

"Cool!" Taffrit screeches and holds onto her dad as the raft jostles. "Hey daddy, what's that?"

Two large crustaceans emerge from the sea and begin churning towards the raft.

"That... is a pair of not nice crabs. Hey kids, let's play a game of Look away!" Tellith convinces the kids to wave to the sandy beach, away from the incoming slaughter.

Where are we trying to get to, exactly? As in, we need to kill these things before we can extract? If that is the case I will turn the boat around back to be closer to the party on land.

Makai looks at the creature she grabs her hammer and raises it high.

"Hold your kid's sir, we will try to fend them off. " She her silent prayer to Torag, she sets her feet wide in the raft and waits.

Readied attack, when the crab is in range:

She brings the hammer down, trying to break its shell.

Jacknife draws his warhammer and grits his teeth, readying an attack when one of the crabs gets in range. Ysoldt thinks better of it, grabs the oars and quickly backpedals the raft towards the shore.

Quickblade prepares his crossbow and fires at the bright Red Reefclaw, piercing its carapace.

The reefclaws quickly churn through the water towards the raft full of juicy meat. The dark Black one reaches the raft first. Jacknife raises his hammer.

Warhammer: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Bludgeon Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

But it bounces off the carapace without lasting effects.

The bright Red Reefclaw also reaches the raft, but Makai bashes it silly. It retaliates.

Claw vs Makai: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Slashing: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

But it catches nothing but air.

"Dad! Can we stop looking away?" Maffree turns slightly towards the sea before his father corrects him towards the coast. "Hey hey, you almost lost the game. Gotta look away, that's the plan!"

Oh I like my options for aquatic creatures in my Summon Animal 2 list, this is probably the only chance that I will get to summon 1 of these.

The elven wizardress identifies what is attacking those on the raft, her mind quickly going through the cataloug of beasts that would be of use to them. She begins to chant and use her magic to call forth, a half horse, half fish, hippocampus to aid them. She bids it to attack the reefclaw closest to it.

So did Makai hit the red with her 20 to hit and 7 damage but it left no mark? Was that a miss? Or did attacking the crab count as underwater combat? => bludgeoning weapons are less effective.

Makai drops her Warhammer again at the crab, like hitting the hot steel on an anvil. Once and again

@Makai: I displayed the wrong damage altogether. You and Quickblade hit during round 1. Quickblade is about to kill your target, so I'll let you retake your round 2 actions. Sorry about the confusion.

Quickblade reloads his crossbow and fires again, hitting the bright red reefclaw through its soft underbelly. It thrashes wildly and swings once more at Makai.

Red vs Makai: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Slashing: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
It catches her by the neck and almost topples her over before its strength gives way and it sinks beneath the waves. The last of its poison seeps into her wound...

Avonathalanthalasa calls forth a Hippocampus who emerges from the surface depths to whip the remaining reefclaw. Even while flanking with Jacknife it isn't able to do much more than annoy it.

Does anyone want to bot Jacknife or Ysoldt? I'll default to Jacknife attacking and Ysoldt getting you to shore in a few more hours.

Ysoldt loads her sling and hurls a bullet at the reefclaw, dinging it but not by much. Jacknife also fires his crossbow, but it doesn't do much.

Makai tries to fight off the poison.

She then asks Torag for his blessing to heal some of the wounds.
Lay on Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 6
She grabs the oars and begins paddling back to shore. "We're sitting ducks in the sea- best to fight it on land."
Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Torag seemingly heals her of the poison's long lasting effects, and she thanks him yet again.
