Rangi looks at Webny, then at Jak, lustanus, and Shayla.
He lowers his shield but then takes a couple of fast steps and slams his club at the crystal, Then again, and again. He keeps bashing the crystal until there is only small pieces or his club is of no use, whichever comes first.

![]() |

Rangi walks up and smashes the red crystal into the head of the husk of a troll. the crystal shatters under the repeated blows, any memories left destroyed with it! Despite the annihilated skull of the troll, you see it's mouth knot back together.
Naxath's mouth moves, but the sound you hear comes not from that mouth, but from the chamber itself. A deep throbbing voice, that attacks you minds and your ears, "DESECRATORS OF MY HOLY PLACE! FEEL URXEHL'S WRATH!" as there is a huge explosive burst of abyssal energy sent through the building. The temple feels as though the very sides of the temple and the roots are trembling and pulsing with the abyssal energy. The forest floor is about to fall on the temple, about to bury it under the dark brown earth, the huge red body of tree trunks, and the flaming red thick roots.
Naxath crumples in a heap, face down on the stone temple floor, no longer the king sitting on his throne..... [b]CHAOS reigns
....
I will put the mechanics for the escape out of the temple and the other rooms... just like Indiana Jones.. in the discussion thread...
Your first obstacle is to get through the antechamber to the temple...
Round One - Antechamber
As you look back, seeing the temple start to be destroyed under tons of rubble, you start to run, your own lives are in danger if you hang around too long.....
You try to run, but the roots hanging down seem to have a life of their own. They too seem guardians of the complex bent on revenge, as you attempt to pass by what was previously the magical gate made of branches and roots. The roots bash and smash into you....
Nature check to realize that these roots have the bruorsivi weakness to fire and shy away from flame
Acrobatics to weave a path through the room
One of you could retrieve any stone fingers as you make your way out, there are two on the floor, if you do tell me, it may affect your ability to get out quite as quickly.

![]() |

Rangi begins to limp towards the exit, his old legs are not as fast as they used to be. He looks at the roots and tries to recall how to bypass them, especially that he is one of the tallest of this team
Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Fire is the answer, with one hand he cast produce flame and use it to make a passage...
The question about fingers surprised me, I would not have thought about taking them... And now you ask :D lol. Nah, Rangi would pass

![]() |

Hmm, given Pooka's nature, I'll leave the finger thing to chance! 1 = She grabs a finger & 2 = No way!
Fingers?: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Reacting purely on reflex and the vague thought that the Society might find the fingers interesting if they manage to make it out alive, Pooka scoops up one of the two fingers on the floor as she bolts for the chamber's exit...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
______________
In the event that one can't grab a finger *and* make a skill check in the same round, Pooka will opt for just grabbing the finger for the moment.

![]() |

Nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Jak yells out, "IF YOU GOT FIRE, LET THEM RIP THE ROOTS!"
Saying thing, he realizes he doesn't have any fire attacks. He then spots Pooka grab one of the fingers and he reaches down to grab the other before running with everything he has got.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Not being as astute as a wizard or a druid, the sorcerer listens to what the cleric recommends and will cast produce flame to help keep the passage way of roots open
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 acrobatics

![]() |

Shayla takes one look at the collapsing chamber, screams and makes a run for it.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Acrobatics, Hero Point: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

![]() |

Webny Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Despite her best efforts Shayla trips and falls into the roots, causing Pooka and Iustanus to be delayed and shouting loudly in the explosion. Nearing the exit Rangi, Webny and Jak turn back to see if their companions need help. As they do, the rocks start to tumble down with venom from the ceiling as it collapses.
You all take 1d6 ⇒ 3 HPs damage DC 20 basic reflex save
Crit fail, double damage, fail damage, pass half damage, crit pass no damage.
Currently you need 1 more point to pass through this chamber.
Into round two of this chamber, you would do best to have the character with the best chance of succeeding rolling first (I will take that into account despite the order you actually roll, in your favour) ..... DC Acrobatics = 14, Nature DC=15 .... Remember a crit failure reduces your score by 1, so
once you have gained 1 more point you leave this chamber.
You can start your 1st round in the next chamber
You continue to run from the collapsing temple, along passageways with the ground shaking and the mortar pouring out from the walls. You reach the corridors past the altar where you encountered the desiccated skeletal hand.
Here it seems the god's wrath has animated the bones from the ossuary. Half-formed skeletons stalk to and fro in the corridor, their claws twitching, looking for something to rend.
The Ossuary Round 1 All make a single skill check using one of the skills below (untrained is OK)
◆ Deception to create a distraction that draws the skeleton’s attention
◆ Stealth to sneak past
◆ Undead Lore to predict their movement.
Feel free too describe what you do .. bonus +1 on rolls where I think the description of what you do to avoid the skeletons and their claws lurching through the corridors deserves a bonus.

Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Shayla scrambles to her feet. A scrape along her arm.
"No big deal, it's a small wound."
She tries to tumble her way through the shaking ground (again).
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Where was that crit when I needed it?!
She skids to a stop seeing the skeletons moving at random. She stops and observes their motions for a brief moment before trying to sneak by, sticking to the cave wall to make herself as small as possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

![]() |

Shayla steadies herself, avoiding any more of the roots as she enters the Ossuary, sneaking past some deadly walking bones.
All need reflex saves (except Iustanus and Shayla)_ and one of the 3 skill check, (except Shayla)

![]() |

Reflex save, DC20: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Rangi is smacked with a massive stone falling from the ceiling but he says nothing.
He stumbles into the room full of skeletons animating to life. He tries to recall what he recalls from his years of fighting. He looks at the skeletons raising and looks where the exit is.
"Cluster together! We need to break through them. We should attack in the center, to let them try and flank us, then we fall back and try to bypass them."
Warfare lore: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Warfare is not listed, but I think the strategy of fighting and outmaneuvering could work ;) If not then Stealth Untrained +2

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Taking some damage, Jak tries to sneak past some of the skeletons.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

![]() |

Bot Pooka - Deception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Bot Webny - Stealth 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
The party dash forward as all around them the ceilings are giving way, stone statues that were part of the unholy altar, topple to the floor spreading sharp blocks of granite across the floor. Skeletons crushed and smashed leave their still twitching claws grasping in the darkness as the last vestiges of their undeath.
The chaos in the chamber, with undead running haphazardly across your path and the collapsing complex coming every more closer, the ceiling here is under great pressure and as you pass one section breaks and falls.
Once more you all take 6 Points of Bludgeoning damage or make a Basic Reflex save DC=20... Last time I was wrong, it wasn't 1d6...should have been 6, you are lucky
Assume you will clear the ossuary, so no further rolls required.
After clearing the corridor in the facility depths, you come to the fork in the corridors, with the library one way, the laboratory the other. From both areas you hear the sounds of falling objects, although the sounds from the laboratory includes the sound of breaking glass and strange fizzing sounds that fill the silence between each fallen object. There is no time to think, with louds huruphing sounds from behind as the complex is being buried under the forest above.
Laboratory or Library which way to go. The first to post will decide the way.

Thanks for the bot, GM!
Basic Reflex #1 (DC 20): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Success, 1 damage
Basic Reflex #2 (DC 20): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Crit fail, 12 damage
Though Pooka managed to mostly dodge the first barrage of falling debris, she isn't quite as lucky the second time around as a massive slab of rock smashes into her right shoulder!

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
With a squeak, Shayla barely manages to avoid getting squashed by a chunk of rock as big as she is. She dives out the way and rolls.
"Next time, Shayla, stick to above ground adventures" she mutters to herself.

![]() |

Sorry for going silent. Thanks for piloting Webny, GM. You rolled better for her than I do!
Basic Reflex Save #1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Basic Reflex Save #2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Webny bobs and weaves, but doesn't actually manage to avoid most of the falling debris.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!" she says, helpfully.

![]() |

Reflex save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Rangi this time dodges most of the stones...

![]() |

You follow Iustanus through the corridors as he makes his way towards the library. The bookshelves warp and strain as the walls move, the heavy tomes crash down as loose pages fly about, making it difficult for you to pick your way through the rubble and broken shelves and books. All that is happening makes it difficult to run quickly through the room. Behind you hear a loud boom as another ceiling falls, above you the ceiling of the library continues to drop large pieces of stone into the chamber.
As before you all make a skill check with your choice of check.
Acrobatics or Athletics to weave or push through

Hero Point
Bot Webny - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
With Webny, Iustanus and Jak's instructions, they direct Rangi and Shayla through the what remains of the Library, they pull Rangi through the door of the Library, just as the ceiling collapse seals the temple complex from the exit. As the party draw their breath, they continue their escape only to find the corridor, where they passed the statue full of smoke and flying sparks. Anger and hatred assail your minds, but you must go now or it will be the end of you all.
The bowls the statues hold have erupted in dark flame. Sparks and smoke fill the corridor from the carvings that are part statue and part relief, as if the statues are escaping from the wall. The life-size depiction of the cyclopes, dressed in robes with fire motifs with each holding a bowl in their raised hands. Flames and sparks in the bowls casting billows of smoke into the corridor.
Thievery to swat sparks aside

In the smoke, eyes water making it even more difficult to see anything, the smoke thickens as dust and rubble get mixed with smoke bellowing out from the scones under the statues. The statues themselves start to crack as the pressure of the moving earth bares down on the corridors. The party start to feel rocks and earth start to bounce off their shoulders. A warning maybe that their progress is being slowed. The sparks fly through the like small flaming darts, the grow in intensity. As their paths are interrupted by the roots now falling down through the ceiling, the roots flare in intense heat and sudden explosions.
It is too late as the party fumble through the corridor as with one last loud crack the world falls on the party, burying Rangi, Iustanus, Jak, Webny, Pooka and Shayla under falling rocks earth and trees that blck and bury the collapsed corridor. With earth and spittle in their mouths, each of the Pathfinders find themselves buried alive, but the gods look down of them with compassion, rather than finding their life's blood squeezed and crushed out of them, each of the party is separated for the others, each in their own grave, each in a pocket of smokey air. Each now in their own pocket of blackness, each feeling the inky blackness of unconsciousness take them closer to the end, to a meeting place with Pharesma in her judgement.
........................
How long the party were underground, they did not know, but as eyes opened and pain was felt, rather than Pharesma's realm, they found themselves looking up at the flapping canvas of the Pathfinder camp. The canvas of one of the medical centre, where clerics used their gods powers to magically heal injured Pathfinders. Bandages, some soaked in blood, bind your legs, arms and bodies.
Everyone is in the field hospital of the Pathfinder's camp where you get your wounds and diseases treated and later to recuperate for a bit. After everyone has been seen to, Eando visits, looking to debrief you. He listens with rapt attention to everything the you have to say, and though the tone of his voices is severe, he reassures you that you did an excellent job. Your findings will shed new light on the situation, which for now, has raised more questions than answers.
Before leaving, Eando gives everyone a firm handshake and thanks them for risking their lives for the Society. Daana and Jaci come to visit a bit later, concerned about how you are doing after the great catestrophic collapse of the building into flames, which means their teams of archaeologists have slow and painstaking work ahead of them.
After a couple of days you join the hustle and bustle of the camp as you rejoin the Pathfinders work and activities. Soon you are ready for the next mission, hopefully with less danger than this.

Rangi falls under the stones and roots. Is this is? Have death finally caught up with me? I fought for years with mighty foes, and now I will be buried alive... he passes out
When he wakes at first he tries to assess if he is alive or not.
"If any afterlife exists it would be more cheerful than this forsaken camp."
For Rangi it takes a bit longer to recover, it could be his age, or plenty of other wounds that he acquired, his report to Eando is simple and short.

Webny blinks a lot when she comes to, and she tries as best she can to shield her eyes from the light. The pounding in her head is persistent and disorienting, and her report is pretty disjointed.
She tries to find what quiet moments she can to meditate on how badly she messed this mission up.
