Entering the house cautiously, Mirela finds herself perplexed by the woman before her. Her familiarity was nagging, until Aldern walked into the room and suddenly all became clear to her.

Eyes widening as she recoiled in horror at the sight of Foxglove, Mirela’s arm went instinctively up in defense as she whispered "No, n-no… you’re supposed to be dead, no you can’t be here."

Her Varisian blood boiling very suddenly, an emotional and raw rage overtook Mirela her as tears began to well and her voice cracked "Monster! Why can’t you leave me alone!" Taking a step forward, Mirela drew her blade and quickly raised the point of her rapier towards Foxglove’s throat. Though still clearly gripped with rage, Mirela’s voice fell to a vengeful whisper "I swear to Desna, I’ll send you to hell all over again if I have too Aldern…"

Gotta stay true to character; Mirela is a hot-head after all.

Watching the whole scene unfold, Elise rolls her eyes and shakes her head. Finally, she places her right hand over her forehead as though she were dealing with a mild headache and laughs lightly "Well, that entertaining if nothing else." Glancing at the bar, Elise shrugs with a light sigh before heading in "Okay, let me see what I can turn up. If I end up hanging upside down from my belt half-naked, just put me out of my misery."

As the Crusader's attempt to pour in, Elise rushes forward to attempt to block further intrusion.

"Hold them out, keep them from pouring through!"

In other words, to quote Leonidas: This is were we hold them! This is where we fight! This is where they die! Sorry, just had to say it ;)

Her sword drawn and shield forward, Elise pushes back on the Crusader entering while striking him with her blade.

I just have to say IB, that is one the best PbP battlemaps I've seen from a GM here on Paizo; you even took the time to show Cole with Mirror Image. Bravo! Oh, and Caladwhen will absolutely go in with Improved Invisibility, Fox's Cunning and Fly.

Glancing over at Cole with a quick nod, Caladwhen responds to his offer "I will need your help, and Talon's. I don't have the physical strength to move the prisoners, so you'll need to provide your muscle. Some of this will be heavy work." With that, Caladwhen motions at the unconscious bodies of Tallus and Dostan "Those two in particular... you can start by putting them on the slab near Titus."

Falling silent a moment, Caladwhen sets herself to inspecting the surgical tools the Nariel had laid out for her. After a moment, she selects a particularly sharp looking scalpel, and holds it up to look at it more closely in the light of her laboratory. Without moving a muscle, Caladwhen eyes dart over towards Sindran, and a slight grin forms "I wouldn't dream of leaving dear Titus out of this masterpiece dear Sindran."

Sauntering slowly over towards Elise, the lithe necromancer turned physician looks her captive in the eyes. In her present state, all the bravado Elise displayed had been replaced by emotions easy to read. Fear. Hatred. Mourning. Finally, after a moment, Caladwhen sighs in a manner that drips with disappointment "Elise, the Cardinal wishes you delivered to him for judgment. Seeing that we are under contract, I intend to fulfill his wish."

With a quick look at the devils restraining her, Caladwhen nods towards the slab near her "That said, a literal interpretation on how we deliver you means non of your mortal bodies need be delivered whole." Once the Elise is on the table, Caladwhen moves beside her and gently moves a strand of hair from her eyes, and heartlessly whispers "Such lovely eyes Elise; I can see why the Baron fell so easily for you, as did these foolish men that followed you; you needn't fear though, they will be one thing I intend to leave you; after all, you must see exactly what your treachery has wrought you."

Looking to the others, Caladwhen states impassively "Let's begin."

Sorry, couldn't resist some Villanous Monologing. Basically, we'll use Titus' body as the core for this monstrous amalgam of the 7th. After a little legal research, Caladwhen has determined that we can get away with not having to raise him, which will save us some coin and gives us a corpse to simply animate. His limbs, organs and the whatnot can be replaced with parts from the other members of the 7th. This is what happens when you let a Necromancer get creative...

curious - I've never seen Cala this quiet when a drop of wine was spilled; especially wine of this caliber... Oh well, just distracted, I guess.

I had a great post that got eaten by the forums... argh.

Glaring at T'larryo, an icy piercing glare that only Caladwhen is known for, a moment of silence passes before she coolly adds "T'larryo, my bath chamber is not thirty feet from here, use more sense next time." Taking what was left of the wine, Caladwhen tosses it out the window "No matter, you bring good news."

Gliding across the room to her wardrobe, Caladwhen grabs her favorite cloak and tosses it over her shoulders "T'larryo, those witches you speak of are our guests... alert the others to their coming; also ask the others to meet me for aperitifs tonight in my antechamber." Looking over at her familiar, Caladwhen smiles ever so slightly "It's time I fill them in with my plans for the 7th."

Later that evening, over some fine port...

Picking up her glass, Caladwhen takes a moment to tilt the glass, allowing the liquid to slide slowly back into place. After a sip, Caladwhen stands up, and clears her throat before addressing the members of the 9th there gathered "I have done some proper research, and determined an appropriate fate for the 7th Knot." Starting to pace in-front of the fire in the hearth, Caladwhen continues "The contract states we only need deliver 51% of the 7th; I'd like to take a literal interpretation of this clause. If we can take them all alive, I propose we allow Nariel to surgically... reduce each of the 7th by, oh say, 49% percent of their physical being." Allowing a moment for that to sink in, Caladwhen stops pacing before continuing "With the materials garnered from the surgery, I can create a golem of sorts..." Facing the others, there is a glint of something cruel in Cala's otherwise icy facade, "Wouldn't it be particularly fitting if fifty-one percent of the 7th to be delivered to the Cardinal by the other forty-nine percent of their own persons? How marvelous."

Okay, by my last account, each of you had outlined the following from Caladwhen:

Oret:
Bracers of Armor +3 (4,500g)
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 5,000g

Talon
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 500g

Sindran
Headband of Alluring Charisma +2 (2000g)
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 500g

Let me know if I missed anything.

Now, that was based on approximately 6,500g total budget each based on the last post from IB that said we had 33,000 to spend amongst us. That said, some of you had Morvius craft some weapons/armor from that total, so if that isn't included, please let me know.

Initially I had budgeted a further 6,500g for Morvius which was to be spend partly on Headband of Intellect +2 for 2,000g, but I guess IB needs to rule on what is to happen with that amount of gold (i.e., does Morvius get paid for service rendered, or do we reabsorb that into the remaining group coffers, at which point we have ~8,000G each?)

Also, if you haven't spent your entire funds yet and want Caladwhen to make something, let me know. I want to get the gear reveal post done today or tonight at the latest if possible.

I think it's time to set the sights of Venorik Rah on digging up some dirt on the 7th Knot, something we can hang our hats on. We need at least a pretense of treachery in order to proceed with a preemptive strike. I think maybe Venorik Rah and Heitr could work in tandem to accomplish this, what do you think Sindran?

With a telling glance, Caladwhen smiles in an ever so wicked fashion "My dear boy, you can tell the Baron that I wouldn't miss his soiree for the world."

Looking over to Sindran, the lithe elf adds with a slight laugh "I guess you're my date for the evening Sindran. Let's make it an evening Farholde won't soon forget."

Caladwhen will bring along some of that perfume, and cast a whole lot of Eagle's Splendor on the night of the party.

Okay, bit of a catch-up post but here goes! Sorry for the prolonged absence, it's been a really brutal couple of weeks.

Entering the Sindran's Sanctum without a word, Caladwhen glides silently across the room and places a beautifully crafted set of robes on his table. Draped over her arm appears some kind of robe or cloak made from dark red and black velvet fabrics.

Running her hand along the luxurious fabrics, Caladwhen appears both critical and proud of her work at the same time. "I hope it is to your liking Sindran. I had Nariel import the highest quality materials for the robes, I can only hope she correctly guessed your size."

Looking around the room, Caladwhen observes the various correspondence littered about his desk. "Heitr has been busy I can see; good work with the Smithy by the way." Leaning against the table, Cala begins toying with a strand of her hair and reports "My people inform me that the 7th Knot has finally made themselves useful to us, and disposed of Brendam's Breakers, another group set on the Horn. All well and good, but I'm keeping an eye on those ones."

Turning her attention to Oret, Caladwhen nods as she changes the subject "Oh Oret, I'll see if I can't get you that belt before we deal with the Celestial. In the meantime, here is the amulet you requested." Handing over a small leather sack containing an amulet of silver, Caladwhen ads "Hopefully this will make the celestials... more accessible to your charm."

Pushing off from the desk, Caladwhen begins heading towards the exit. Before exiting, Cala stops and looks casually over her shoulder "I'm going to have a visit with Talon... Nariel tells me he has been himself and is proving more dangerous than usual." Raising an eyebrow, she ponders "Though I may eroded some of his trust by playing loosely with fire myself last week, I think I'm the best person to get through to him."

I think probably the best person to check in on Talon would be Caladwhen, so she'll head on over there next.

Infernal:
"And a more skilled physician wouldn't have made such a terrible mess; is your work always this sloppy Morvius?"

Removing her white gown, she impatiently tosses the blood soak dress at the feet of the alchemist "Tell you what, you can clean that now that you've ruined it. I should think you could use your vast skills to conjure up some cheap detergent; or perhaps your alchemical ability is as worthless as your skill with the scalpel?" Keenly aware that her lithe figure is exposed and drawing a certain kind of attention, Caladwhen nevertheless glides out of the room with a confident and haughty air about her, but not before stopping by the Morvius and whispering in a sarcastically flirtatious manner

Infernal:
"Now you've seen everything."

Without looking back, Caladwhen coldly adds before leaving "If you'll excuse me, I have an army to build."

Going to go raise that army since the place is teaming with desecrated energy. After that, Cala will get to work on the gear.

"The Silent Hand" (Organization)

For this week, the Silent Hand will work in tandem with Heitr in Farholde on other complimentary objectives. More specifically, operatives of Venorik Rah will take an espionage action to spread disinformation to anyone who might be discussing what is going on with respect to the Horn should people starting noticing the beacon of light. Such lies will be things like the following:

i) This kind of thing happens every 80 years, and is only temporary

ii) A Druidic enclave has taken over the Horn, probably just them making the place inhabitable.

iii) No, no... when the minions of Vetra-Kali occupied the Horn 80 years ago, it never was lit up like that (or it was a different color)... nothing to worry about

iv) Saranae cleanses the Horn every decade or so, this is to be expected.

The goal will be to lure people into a false sense of security, delaying action from them for hopefully as long as possible. It won't work indefinitely, but hopefully will buy us some precious time.

Firing a mildly annoyed glance at Talon, the very determined Necromancer does her best to pull his hand away from his grasp. After realizing the futility of fighting his grip, Calawhen changes her tact and speaks in a hushed and reassuring tone "It's okay Talon, I'll be fine; I know what I'm doing. You can let go now." Freeing her hand, Cala is finally able to activate the Eye with her blood.

As the Horn is explodes in an illumination of sickly green light, Caladwhen's breathing appears to quicken as her eyes widen with a madening look of what can only be described as pure elation. After a moment, Caladwhen begins to laugh uncontrollably, a fit hysteria overtaking her normally placid and reserved demeanor. In an attempt to contain herself, Cala places her injured hand over mouth, which seems only to enhance the mania as she smears her own blood on her face.

Dropping her hand, Caladwhen rises slowly all the while staring into the Eye of Withering, which she holds aloft reverently in-front of her. Finally, her laughter ceases and Caladwhen falls unnervingly quiet and still before finally whispering

Elven:
"The Andorans will know suffering..."

Ignoring Halthus' attempt to communicate with her, Caladwhen speaks quietly with a wicked grin, never taking her eyes of the artifact in her hand "In my hands, this is a weapon of untold power. I will raise an army of the dead, one that will strike terror in the hearts of our enemies." Finally lifting her gaze off the Eye of Withering, her grin dissolves into stoic resolve as she utters in her unfamilar and horrible dialect

Necril:
"Darkness gathers."

Oh wow, that is a nice little trinket for a Necromancer here in the horn! With this, Cala can raise truckloads of undead, all buffed and juiced for combat (let alone any Daemonic summons). That pile of bones on the ground floor is suddenly looking pretty sweet about now. I also noticed that the negative energy channel bonus is a whopping +6, which means Cala might even be able to put good use to Ezra if she proves to be an ongoing pain in the arse. I think this little jem is going to prove all kinds of fun!

Oret Stonechild wrote:
So, aside from flight or levitation, what's the fastest way down (that won't get Oret killed)?

Caladwhen has Levitate prepared; I choose it in the event we needed to get down quickly (and safely more importantly). She can levitate up to 700 lbs, which should be enough for Aerent, Sindran and Oret unless one of you is grossly overweight! Cala herself can fly to get herself down.

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Her elven eyes, keen as ever easily pick out the commotion below. To herself, she whispers "What are those damnable creatures up to now?

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Unsure of the urgency, Caladwhen stares blankly at Talon as hollars before departing. Looking to the other men remaining, Cala shrugs and adds calmly "Well, something must be afoot. I can get the three of you down safely, though it may take a few minutes to make the descent."

When everyone is ready, Cala will cast Levitate and move them down before casting Fly on herself.

Edit: In hindsight, Feather Fall is a better spell for this getting down, it's quicker.

Stunned by the unexpected power of the gem, Caladwhen gasps and rears her head up as the intense light from the jewel nearly blinds her. Her own eyes averted from the Eye of Vigilance, the normally stoic elven woman appears dazed, panting rapidly, her eyes staring blankly as though seeing something far beyond the mortal plane.

After a moment, her breathing begins to slow and regulate, and gradually she begins to blink as though waking from a great slumber. Moving her hands to the side of her head to massage her temples, she moans painfully and speaks weakly "Damnit, I do detest divination magic... it was never my strong suit."

Divination is one of her opposition schools, so I thought the description above was apt in how Caladwhen would receive such a powerful vision.

Standing up, Caladwhen looks to the gem in her hand, and then to the ancient tome. Immediately, she finds a page as though she was quite familiar with it, and scans it quickly. Looking up from the page, Caladwhen reports her findings "Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is, I know how we can break the seal," pausing a moment, Caladwhen finally sighs dejectedly and adds "the bad news is that it's going to take quite a bit of time and effort."

Cala will explain the ceremony in detail, the time required and the sacrifices needed. As for the sacrifice, I'm pretty sure if you ask Caladwhen, she would be happy to suggest Zadaria or Tiadora as the first sacrifice... as for the artifacts (the Eyes), we have the first, but we'll need to locate the Eye of Hatred and Withering as well.

did Caladwhen just create an undead bus...?

Hah ha! I prefer to think of it more like an undead U-Haul... that just happens to be armored to the teeth.

Seeing agreement among her allies, Caladwhen nods in acknowledgement and sets herself to work. Reverently producing a perfectly polished onyx from a belt pouch hanging on her hip, Caladwhen whispers two words in an unfamiliar dialect "M'aghi nai". The onyx suddenly leaps from her hand, and comes to a stop hovering eerily several feet about the lizards body.

Closing her eyes, Caladwhen kneels down near the corpse, being sure to keep a safe distance. Holding her arms outspread, Caladwhen begins to recite the same phrase over and over again, slightly louder each time "Baer lacyer nomen kas. Baer lacyer nomen kas." As Cala's voice raises, it begins to echo in a strange and discordant manner, the wind begins to pick up, and all manners of creatures in Caer Bryr appear to flee with a maddening haste. Though it is a clear day, it seems to suddenly grow very dark and gloomy in the immediate area... dark magic most definitely at work.

As Caladwhen continues to raise her voice and repeat her mantra, the corpse suddenly begins to twitch, slowly and intermittently at first, but gradually it gains more motion. After a moment, it even begins to groan, as if protesting the indignity of being forced to move in death. With a final yell of her mantra, Caladwhen throws her head skyward, and opens her eyes which appear stark white and glow eerily. The onyx suddenly dissolves into a vapor, which suddenly wraps around the lizards body, seemingly dragging it to its feet.

With a final groan, the great beast is animated and filled with an unnatural life. Standing to full height, the zombie lizard suddenly screams out loudly, fear, anger and despair all clearly apparent in its tone. Looking up slowly and covering her mouth with her left hand, Caladwhen appears reluctant, perhaps even mildly frightened as she stares upon her latest monstrosity. Regaining herself quickly though, a wicked grins slowly forms "It is done." To prove her point, Caladwhen orders the beast to kneel down. As it prostrates for the lithe elven woman, she moves close to it without hesitation, placing her slender foot against its head as a sign of her dominance over it.

I kept thinking about the scene at the end of Jurassic Park (2:50) when the T-Rex screamed out as the banner fell to the ground when I wrote this post lol

Seeing Barek preparing for his test of strength, mischievous thoughts begin to creep into Mirela's mind. Just as Barek prepares to bring the hammer down, Mirela quickly tickles him underneath his arms in order to mess up his swing while loudly asking "Hey Barek, whatcha doing?!"

With dispassionate reserve, Caladwhen watches the drama play itself alongside her allies. After the conclusion of the duel, Cala laughs in a quiet but cruel manner "Well then, that worked rather nicely didn't it? Time to put an end to this grotesque and predictable farce."

Walking out from the brush disguised as Lisandra, the Priestess rushes forward appearing out of breath and full of concern.

"Good heavens! What tragedy has befallen out beloved Captains?!" Pulling up beside Kaitlynn, Lisandra grabs a cloak strewn on the ground and covers her nakedness "My dear woman, are you alright? What happened here? Come follow me, sit over here you poor thing." Guiding the shaken Kaitlynn to a nearby tree, Lisandra sits down beside her.

Caladwhen will have guided Kaitlynn to a tree with her Draugr hidden in the nearby brush.

After a moment and assured she is safe to proceed, Lisandra smiles somewhat cruelly at Kaitlynn and whispers "You know Kaitlynn, this is all your fault really. Your lust has led to the deaths of two honorable men. You will suffer for your sins... but perhaps sooner than you might think." With a snap of her fingers, Cala summons her minions forth.

Standing up with her Draugr at her side, Caladwhen removes her circlet revealing her true form. "Much better." Peering at Kaitlynn with mock pity, Caladwhen shakes her head and goads her pray "You poor, sweet, stupid thing... I'm sure you have no idea who I am, but I promise my face will haunt you even onto the afterlife. I arranged this unfortunate meeting, and now I end it." Turning her back on Kaitlynn, Caladwhen walks away and utters a command to her Draugr in an ancient and frightening dialect.

Necril:
"Slash her throat and bleed her out, this is to look like a suicide."

Her smile suddenly turning incredulous, Caladwhen fires a look to Talon and then to Aerent. In the infernal tongue, Cala's annoyance is palpable "Slave? Did that thing just call me... a slave?" Shaking her head with disbelief, Cala snaps her fingers summoning T'larryo and her Draugr minions to her.

Turning on her heels in disgust, the haughty ice princess bounds away from the scene muttering angrily while still speaking infernal "Aerent, finish the deal and let's be done with this savage. I'd suggest that the swords would be better to barter with; you need the shield and we can easily buy two more swords with the proceeds... but do as you will if you truly feel so honor bound to Thorn."

Okay, sorry for the absence folks... I've quite literally been bed ridden since Sunday. Suffice it to say, the anti-biotics have finally kicked in and I'm feeling much better today. Now to catch up and post!

Mildly amused by the Oread's lack of social graces, Caladwhen raises her left eyebrow and smirks ever so slightly and responds sardonically "My, aren't you just charming."

Looking over to her companions, Caladwhen's tone becomes more commanding "In any event, you are wrong on account; our company serves Thorn, but we" Cala stops a moment to emphasize her last word while motion to the others "we are team nevertheless. You would do well to remember that." Without waiting for a response, Caladwhen marches out of the room in seemingly bored manner "I'm heading to the Library if anyone needs me."

Cala watches the young squire attack his former master with a quiet smirk that screams of malevolence, even allowing herself to laugh cruelly at the spectacle after a moment.

Elven:
"Humans, so easily corruptible."

Casually pointing at Sir Balin, Cala cranes her head to look over her shoulder at her Draugr minions, speaking in an almost bored but amused tone "Minions, attack."

Always wanted to say that.. d@mn I love having minions! So much fun.

Her hand drawn out towards the Draugr and eyes closed, Cala murmurs an ancient tongue, a blue pale energy emitting from her hand. It is clear though that the magick is causing Cala discomfort as she winces, struggling to keep control.

A bead of sweat falls appears on Cala's normally perfect complexion, and to her allies it almost appears that she might be in some pain. Finally, she drops her hand, the energy dissipating immediately. Looking exhausted and a little frustrated, Cala looks up "They are quite strong and resisting me... I couldn't gain control over them."

Dang... well, luckily I can do this like 8 times per day, so I'll try again next round. Oh, and by the way, the DC is 10 + 1/2 level + my Charisma modified, so it's 14 unfortunately. At level 4 I'm boosting Cala's charisma to 18 to get that extra DC increase.

Sorry for the delay, weekends are always a bit dodgy for me in terms of time. Anyway, I'm assuming with a natural 20 perception that Edrik is well ahead of the game with respect to the man at the side of the road.

Military training kicking in, Edrik is on alert given the foggy conditions. Before even hearing Shel or Vachordi, Edrik spies a human shape moving through the fog and quickly chokes up on the reigns to avoid him as much as possible, while yelling at the figure in the fog.

"You there, get out of the way!"

Making a hasty attempt to slow down the carriage without veering or toppling it over, Edrik guides the horses "Easy there fellas, whooa!"

When we're ready, Cala will cast the spell to start the plan.

Reaching into a pouch on her belt, Cala gently retrieves a partially dried out rose petal. Placing it in the palm of her left hand, she nods at Aerent to indicate that she is ready.

The following assumes Aerent opens the trap door, otherwise Cala can do it herself.

Looking down into the game room, Aerent notices Cala sneer a moment in disgust. In addition to being inferior humans of marginal intellect, they also reeked of Blackerly's cheep booze and cigar smoke.

Closing her eyes, Cala's begins speaking in a gentle and soothing voice. The unfamiliar arcane language appears almost musical in nature to Aerent. While whispering the incantation, Cala crushes the petal in her hand, which mysteriously dissolves into a pink wisp of smoke when she opens her hand again. Suddenly Cala's voice appears distant and ethereal, and echoes strangely throughout the room, yet remains oddly soothing. Slowly Cala opens her eyes, which appear absent of pupils and glow solidly with a dark energy. Though her lips are no longer moving, her voice still appears to be reverberating throughout the room to Aerent, but it seems a great deal more prominent in the room below.

Casting Sleep on the men in the room below in 3C. Will DC 16 to resist

Gradually as the voices ceases to echo, Cala's eyes slowly return to normal. Looking through the trap door, Cala checks to see how many fell pray to her spell.

Though still in pain from her brush with death, Caladwhen winces and heads up the flight of stairs. Happy to see the Warden's head no longer attached to his body when she reaches the top, a slight grin of satisfaction appears on her face.

"Good work gentlemen."

Moving alongside Talon, Caladwhen observes the book he is flipping through and nods "Indeed, though it's ours now. Nevertheless, the Warden was in possession of an impressive Library, save for all the bawdy tales." Giving her eyes a roll, Cala muses with Talon "He was a dirty little man as it turns out."

Slithering down the isle whiles running her index finger along the volumes, Caladwhen stops and pulls a book off the shelf, reading the title aloud "The Travels of Titus the Mendicant. Some of these books have value. This one is worth at least 100g."

Finally making her way into the Warden's quarters, Cala quickly looks over his possessions, identifying all but one of the scrolls. "It's illusion magic of some kind, which I never favored."

We need to put this guy down; I was hoping to use fear on Blackerly, but I don't want the whole place knowing we're here, so I'll should probably use it now. If he fails, both Aerent and Grumblejack will get an attack of opportunity as he tries to flee.

Moving a short distance to get a better line of sight, Caladwhen notices the second guard is still alive. Closing her eyes and lifting her left hand towards the doorway, the room suddenly feels as though the light is being sapped away while the elf begins whispering a dark arcane language.

To the guard, Caladwhen's voice appears to be whispering to him from all angles, her strange verbal incantations repeat and echo all about him, finally culminating in one exclamation he can understand... "Run for you life!"

Moving to R29 and casting Cause Fear Will DC 17 on the remaining Guard.

With a cool detached glance toward Aerent, Cala responds with confidence and perhaps even a mild hint of annoyance "He most certainly is still under my influence."
