I just realized I haven't selected anything for Caladwhen to make for herself with the additional funds... any ideas? I'm not at all concerned with combat related stuff, since she is incompetent in melee, but certainly I'd be interested in anything that boosts her spell casting potential.
Also, is Caladwhen included on the raid?

Do you have a Pearl of Power yet?
Don't forget your Headband of Vast Intelligence.
Again, a Handy Haversack is useful for everyone, if only so we don't have to keep tracking weight and items (and retrieving an item will be a move action that doesn't provoke AoO).
Even when not in melee or combat, you might still find a Quick Runner's Shirt useful, especially for escaping when something is focusing on you.
On a similar vein, Spellguard Bracers largely ups your success on casting on defensive rolls.
Cloak of Resistance for those all-important saves!
A Hand of Glory lets you have another ring slot. Yes, please. You don't have Forge Ring, but it might be useful in the future. Putting aside our failsafe Sanctified Rings, you can get Rings of Protection, Sustenance (Craft more, sleep less, keep a lookout and never have to eat or drink--like the undead), or Invisibility (CONSTANT INVISIBILITY!!! Well, until you attack, but then you can just put it up again with a standard action. It only lasts 3 minutes per activation, but still!)
(That reminds me, I should get a Ring of the Ecclesiarch in the future.)
Some metamagic rods (Reach, Dazing, Quicken, Persistent) might be up your alley as well, though you probably can't craft that.
For utility, Gloves of Reconnaissance lets you see through doors and walls so scouting will be much easier, but since we're defending, not much use I can see for now.
If you're worried about your spellbook (and you never know with our GM), an investment in a Bookplate of Recall might be worth it.
The way I'm writing it now, I've only explicitly stated Sindran, Morvius, Grumblejack, and Alagnir. Anyone else is put under the handy 'everyone else' or 'the rest'. If you're coming along, using your fireballs into the cave for stragglers would be excellent.

Yeah, I need to get the ring forging crafting feat. Crafting feats are so useful, but they don't add much in the way powering a character up like other feats... always so hard to choose which ones, though Wondrous Items are always a good investment.

Ah, there is also an item that adds to the Diplomacy modifier. It's Perfume/Cologne (+2). I would use it given the chance, of course.
That post almost done. Writing action vexes me greatly.
Sindran Eithe |
Well, the post is up! I'm not satisfied with it, but delaying any longer would just be silly. It was a good chance to flex writing muscles, as atrophied as they are anyway!

Excellent.
Also, it doesn't list it, but I'd like to attempt a Kidnap. Basically abduction but with a specific NPC or kind of NPC. Like, say, a nun or someone close to the Victor or a soldier working under him.

Your gut would be right, except for the fact that he also took the Fast Bombs discovery, which allows just that.

Hey, IB: the game thread has brought up an interesting point: is there a skill like Knowledge(infernal law)? I think it would be useful for one of us to take it, if it exists.
Morvius has skill points to burn; and as a half-fiend follower of Asmodeus, it would be in-character for him to be interested in this field.
Caladwhen |
I would think that a combination of Knowledge Religion/Planes and the Barrister Profession skill would work as opposed to such a specific skill. I've taken a rank of profession with some of the extra skill points Cala has.

Okay, by my last account, each of you had outlined the following from Caladwhen:
Oret:
Bracers of Armor +3 (4,500g)
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 5,000g
Talon
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 500g
Sindran
Headband of Alluring Charisma +2 (2000g)
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total Wonderous Items: 500g
Let me know if I missed anything.
Now, that was based on approximately 6,500g total budget each based on the last post from IB that said we had 33,000 to spend amongst us. That said, some of you had Morvius craft some weapons/armor from that total, so if that isn't included, please let me know.
Initially I had budgeted a further 6,500g for Morvius which was to be spend partly on Headband of Intellect +2 for 2,000g, but I guess IB needs to rule on what is to happen with that amount of gold (i.e., does Morvius get paid for service rendered, or do we reabsorb that into the remaining group coffers, at which point we have ~8,000G each?)
Also, if you haven't spent your entire funds yet and want Caladwhen to make something, let me know. I want to get the gear reveal post done today or tonight at the latest if possible.

Actually wait, I'm getting confused... is the 33K what is left over from the 50K we had when we started Craftfest 2014? If so, we might need to add up who has got what so far.
Near as I can tell, the following:
Talon
Breastplate +3 (4500g)
Headband of Vast Intellect +2 (2000g) - moved from Morvius
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total: 7000G
Oret
Amulet of Mights Fists +1 (2000g)
Bracers of Armor +3 (4500g)
Belt of Physical Might +2 (5000k) - Looted?
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total: 12000g
Sindran
Blazing Robe (5500g)
Headband of Alluring Charisma +2 (2000g)
Runner's Shirt (500g)
Total: 8000G
Caladwhen
Headband of Vast Intellect +4 (8000g)
Total: 8000G
If we go with the original 50K, than we should have approximately 13K... I hope I'm not making this more complicated than it needs to be.

I, umm...wait, what? Going from a +1 to a +2 is a huge increase over the others. Unless your goal is to cause party strife, or are expecting that Oret is going to become irrelevant later if he doesn't get it, it doesn't seem fair/reasonable?

my notes said you had a +2; but I've been wrong before.
I'd prefer the +1 as well, so let's make it +1.We still have 40k then?
Close enough. There's a big steaming f*k'n huge big pile of gems, coins, gold bars, misc jewelry left. So far, you've only used one wheelbarrow full, and there's plenty more to go around.
Sindran Eithe |
We'd better spend that money!
See my previous post for suggestions on purchases.
But Cloaks of Resistance (+2) if you've not filled your shoulder slot for saves is recommended. Sindran could use one.
For Sindran, perhaps up his Headband of Vast Charisma from (+2) to (+4). He uses Charisma for everything.
And, I cannot say this enough, please a Handy Haversack for everyone, but specifically Sindran? 8 strength is a huge pain that limits what I can carry with me.
Furthermore, when we have said haversacks, we can get to stocking on consumables and the like. Scrolls, wands, potions, things that we use often.
For example, wands of Cure Light Wounds or Infernal Healing for Caladwhen and Talon for when I'm unable to do so myself. A wand of mage armor so you don't have to waste a slot for it (the only thing changed by caster level is its duration). Scrolls of comprehend language, obscuring mist, endure elements may be useful. A wand of magic missile for when you have no other combat options. A scroll of Recall as an emergency exit. Etcetera.

I'm playing a key session of Book 3 on tabletop tomorrow, so my time is split between recruitment and prep for tomorrow. We'll pick up after the weekend.
In the meantime: You've been discussing how to deal with the cheating 7th Knot - It would help to have some consensus about how you'd like to go forward as a group.
I suggest Cala waits until level 9 and then quickly crafts 5 cloaks of resistance +3 for 22.5k; one for everyone, won't need to update it anytime soon, and it leaves plenty spare cash to spend before then (about 18k left).
Also, I've never understood why craft ring or craft wand had to be a different feat than create wondrous item. (i.e. how is a ring not wondrous?) So, unless you object from a mechanical point of view, if you want Cala to craft rings even though she doesn't have the feat, that is fine with me.
increddibelly |
ok, prep mostly done, just picking some minis now. I wish I could tell you how awesome this part of the AP is... but I'll just ominously have prevent spoilers and say: Folks, you're going to want to be able to tell your kids* that you've played book 3 of WotW.
*once they're old enough, obviously.

Works for me; I'd like to be able to forge rings, but expending another valuable feat on crafting seems a bother... this solves that problem.
Would wands/rods/staff require their own feat?
Also IB, should cohorts level as we do? I realized just now that Nariel is still level 5.
