Great to see you chime in again. Long railroady monologues either set a great setting, or annoy the players. From here, you are more on your own again.
Hope sindran's connection will improve soon, and arryn is ok.
Cala, i'll send a map link to you soon.
Quick question; is Grumblejack coming with you on your current task?

Sindran Eithe |

Thanks! Hope it improves soon as well.
And, weeeell, I would like for Grumblejack to but I think it'd suit the test more if he didn't come along. Unless he signed that contract too.

He hasn't signed anything (he's not that clever, you know!) but Tiadora doesn't seem to think of the big brute as a threat. Effectively, he's your (i.e. the group's) minion; a Tool.
At least he can be an automobile 10" pole, meat shield or luggage-donkey; at most a tactical asset, or whatever you can think of.

I'm used to spending entire sundays from 10AM to 8PM with a table, beer, lots of props, miniatures, and maps. Compared to that, this PbP thing is a test of patience* :)
I love how you folks keep posting and adding to the story, but my F5 key is almost worn out. I'm learning a lot about myself and about running a game from this. I didn't expect that :)
*Patience is my dump stat.
On a side note, you're gathering quite a lot of XP from finding secrets and missing traps. If you keep going, I'm sure you'll hit 3rd level at the end of this task.

Arryn Lerash |

Sorry for fading a bit. I was gone for a ridiculos time. I'll be better from here on out. Here's what Arryn did.
Item (gp)
Leather Armor (10)
5 daggers (10)
Hand Crossbow (100)
100 bolts (10)
Backpack (2)
Bedroll (.1)
Crowbar (2)
Ink (8)
5 Inkpen (.5)
Bell (1)
15 Caltrops (15)
Acid (10)
Total: 250.6
Arryn would kick back, and try to get used to the whole deity thing.

http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/tags/locations/golarionDay and month names on golarion. I didn't know.
Arryn, it is now Wealday the 31st of Erastus 9711, around 10PM (dusk is late in 'july').
The contract you all signed is dated Moonday 29th Erastus 9711.
Hmmm, you surprised me a bit by suddenly being inside the room, so now I'll surprise you with...The Consequences (dun-dun-duuuuuun):p
Don't worry, this should provide more action and be more fun than taking the slow and careful approach.

I've added a map of Andoran to the campaign description (see top).
Branderscar is in the southwest area of the country, and the Cardinal's mansion is a few miles outside Veryston, slightly to the north of Branderscar.
Ghastenhall, one of the major cities in the adventure, lies somewhat east of the center of Andoran; I haven't yet found a permanent location for it yet. (That's one of the disadvantages of moving an adventure to another setting; you have to make sure things are consistent now, and in the future.)

Caladwhen |

Ugh... I hate doing this again, but I'll be putting off posting until tonight now. Just got called into work unexpectedly after a night of stomach flu fun. I knew there would be a price to pay for having a fun weekend.

Full attack, using arcane mark. Pretty much giving me a free attack, but making me cast defensively
I may be missing the point here. Can you tell me how Arcane Mark gives you a free attack?
At level 2 you have a BAB of +1, so even a full attack means only 1 attack per round. (Once your BAB reaches +6 you get a 2nd attack at +1 during a full attack action, but that'll be a little longer).

Weapon attack instead of the free touch attack that you get from casting the spell. That is a very useful class ability. Thanks!

These critters have AC 22. yeah, I know. This is supposed to be a difficult encounter, requiring you to work together - but you already are, so now it becomes a punishment and a drag.
I've decided to drop the cobra's AC by 1 for every attack so far, to simulate the metal scales flying off, exposing inner parts. That should make it manageable. They're still lethal, but IMHO you now have a fair chance.

folks, any character with average intelligence would realize the following - so I'm posting this spoiler for all of you to read.
He has had these rooms built, so he must have included some way of monitoring your progress, in order to find your strengths and weaknesses.
Now, some metagaming is called for here.
The cardinal wants his operation to succeed, so he intends to fortify any obvious weaknesses either with additional gear, or more likely, an additional team member who's strong in the area where the team is weakest.
The test with the cobras has shown, that in order to survive this adventure, you as a group will need to improve on melee damage. Sure, taking GrumbleJack along for every job would work, but wouldn't be using an NPC more than a little lame? The cardinal's character would decide to add a fighter-type character to your group. I totally agree with the guy ;)
I post this now, so that I've got a little time to find the extra player and have them ready before you need them, and we can have the story continue smoothly.
Does this make sense? What are your thoughts on this?

Sindran Eithe |

That makes sense, GM. I don't mind having a new player to balance it out and smooth gameplay is always nice!

Caladwhen |

Just a heads up folks, I'll be out of the country and it's unlikely I'll be able to post until Saturday night or Sunday.
Feel free to post for Caladwhen in the meantime. If I can get access, I'll post periodically, but assume that I'm MIA as of tomorrow unless you hear otherwise.

Sindran Eithe |

Sorry if I've been rather slow at posting lately. Been rather busy and tired and my internet connection is still unstable.
